Dreamworks Animation Content Gone?

Anyone have any information on why the Dreamworks Animation content is missing from the US store? We rented Megamind several weeks ago and decided to buy it but when I went to buy it, I couldn't locate Megamind on the US store at all. Checking around most of the Dreamworks Animation stuff is gone... Shrek, Madagascar, Megamind, etc (note that I did still see Kung Fu Panda, though).
Still wanting Megamind, I went the the Amazon store and the Instant Video says the following when you go to buy it:
Due to licensing restrictions, this movie will be unavailable for online viewing and downloading starting on Aug 29, 2011. You can watch this movie online as often as you'd like until that date. To have access to the movie while it's unavailable, be sure to download it to a TiVo DVR or Windows PC prior to Aug 29.
So something is changing regarding this movie's rights... I saw an article about Netflix getting an exclusive deal with Dreamworks for streaming but would that impact selling the content on iTunes?
Anyone have any info on this, are we losing Dreamworks Animation content on iTunes in the US for good??

You know, I just noticed this a few days ago myself. Was kinda wondering why I couldn't rent 'em, but I went to Best Buy and didn't look into it closer. I am curious though.

Settings/computers, disconnect your library, then remove the Apple TV from iTunes prefs if necessary.
Then settings/computers/connect to iTunes.

Window/Animation has gone - how to animate please

I can't work out how to animate 2 simple images in Photoshop Extended CS6. Window/Animation has gone in Photoshop CS6. I don't want video, but the Timeline won't let me use the images. Nor can I drag anything. If I click the little right hand arrow in timeline there is nothing there like before. For example, I used to be able to click Make frames from layers in the old version. There does not seem to be a way to do that now. Can anyone point me to instructions please? Thank you.

I just found out that if you click a new button in the middle of the timeline called Make animation, it moves one image. Then you can access the Make frames from layers. Wish there was a help file to show me how to do this.

Safari Web Content Gone Wild!?!?!?!

I use a product named Scannerz for drive testing. I visited their site last night and they had an article about using Activity Monitor to evaluate performance problems with Mountain Lion. I posted several links to it last night. Here's the link:

In any case, in it they describe a Safari Web Content problem where, for some reason it uses tons of memory. I was cruising this site, doing some posts, and guess what? The very same problem they described happened to me. I've never seen this before.
Here's what happened:
I was reading a post in the iMac section and the guy linked to another post. I did a right-click to his link and opened it up in a new window. That post was about setting hibernate levels, so I opened up another Safari window to do a Google search on hibernate levels. I found an article and clicked on it. I read the article. At the bottom was a link (an ad) for Microsoft Surface (their tablet, I guess). I clicked on it just to see what this thing was all about for kicks. In any case, when the page loaded, Safari pretty much locked up. It wouldn't load anything, and all Safari Windows were locked up. The fans on my system suddenly kicked on full speed - so loud I could hear it, which is weird for them. I opened up Activity Monitor and Safari Web Content was eating up over 2GB of RAM, the memory readings on the memory graph were fluctuating like crazy. One second (and I do mean second) it would show hundreds of megabytes of free memory, then there would be none, then there would be a little, ......you get the picture, it made no sense.
I might have thought this reasonable if every single Safari Window I had open were all playing hi-def videos, but they were all essentially just basic HTML pages with no dynamic content at all. The only one with dynamic content (at least I think it was dynamic content - the page never loaded) was for Microsoft Surface (or whatever it's called) - I closed that page when the "Safari Web Content Gone Wild" session began.
After closing all Safari windows but this one, the system seems to have settled down. I assume this is a Mountain Lion/Safari Web Content bug (either that, or Apple is conspiring against Microsoft to the point they aren't allowing their ads to show!! )
Anyone have any idea what triggers this? Is it system related, or will this happen on anything running ML?

I have seen this with a javascript widget. This widget had a revolving set of page thumbnails that you would cycle through when scrolling them. However, when you scrolled them in Safari, it locked up as you describe.

Yet Another "All Content Gone" Story (now with v3.0.1!)

Ever since I purchased my AppleTV (immediately after it was first introduced), it has had the nasty habit of occasionally deleting all content. One day, everything will be there, synced beautifully with iTunes, and then, without warning, I will turn it on and the unit will be empty.
When I updated to 3.0, everything went fine. I did NOT lose all content. Then, 3.0.1 came out saying it should be installed immediately to prevent the loss of all content. So, I quickly installed it, and of course, when I looked, all my content had been deleted once again.
I re-synced, which takes about 16 hours for all my content, and thought, "At least with 3.0.1, this may be the last time I have to do this." I used AppleTV to play music and podcasts for the better part of last week, left Friday for a holiday weekend, and then when I return home and turn on AppleTV on Monday, all my content is gone.
This is so unacceptable, I can barely stand it. Under what standard is it OK to have a computer product that randomly and regularly erases all user data? Especially a system that does not have a backup system of its own?
One interesting data point is that in the past, when I've lost all data, the AppleTV has still shown as being linked to my laptop (where my iTune library is stored). However, my laptop was unable to see the AppleTV. Well, this time, the AppleTV shows it is not linked to any library whatsoever, AND my laptop is unable to see it.
So, I've re-established the link and have once again begun the tedious process of waiting a day while the AppleTV and iTunes sync up.
I have been an Apple customer/fanatic since the Apple ][. The AppleTV is the worst Apple product I have ever owned in terms of reliability. When Steve Jobs said the AppleTV is just a hobby right now, he was right: No regular consumer would put up with this poor behavior.
If anyone is experiencing the same thing, or has any ideas about preventive measures, please share them.

I feel your pain David... unfortunately I have no solution for you but only a cry of dissatisfaction myself. I'm in the process of upgrading to a system with a larger hard drive, but until then I was having to constantly backup and delete content from my iTunes library to make room for new stuff. Meanwhile, my Apple TV was sitting there with 125 Gigs of free space! So I thought I could take advantage of the free space by turning off syncing with my capped out hard drive and downloading content straight to Apple TV. But to unsync I find out that I would lose all data on my Apple TV...WTH? Well I guess I can see why they'd do that to prevent abuses, and that I'd have to live with it even though my motives were upright (so I lost season 1 of defyinggravity and a few other shows, I thought my movies were gone too, but they re-appeared). But now, even though I'm not sync'd, iTunes continually tries to transfer my movies and tv shows to my Dell. Every time I turn around my computer's hard drive is full again with transfers that I didn't initiate. I like to have my pictures and music synced but I fear that the only thing left to try is to totally disable all syncing until I get my mac, but if I do, I will lose all data on Apple TV making it a useless decoration. There has got to be a better way to manage digital media. And Apple calling Apple TV a "hobby" is such a copout for not providing the best support for users.

Mail crashed, inboxes & contents gone. How do I restore fr backup drive?

Mail crashed late last night. When it re-opened, it said:
"New settings have been created for this application." And it asked me whether I wanted to use the new ones or the old ones.
It did not explain what that meant - are the "new settings" my personal settings, as opposed to factory default settings, or are the "new settings" ones created by Mail right then, right after the crash?
I couldn't find an answer on the forums, so I just chose one, and I chose wrongly, because now my setup is GONE. My inboxes, outboxes, draft boxes, and their contents - wiped out.
Now, I'm pretty sure there is a way to restore what I have on my backup drive --luckily I backed up Saturday -- and then download messages since Saturday again from the related remote servers.
But I don't know how.
And I have been trolling this forum for hours trying to figure out how.
There's some trick with the library, isn't there, so that the old messages will be able to be viewed in the Mail window, instead of bundled in one big file?
I know I could re-set up new mailboxes with the settings from the ISP, but that would only net me the mail that's on those current servers, which is a drop in the bucket, and anyway I can send and receive current emails via the web interfaces. The key is to get back all the old emails too!

Also, what does it do to move the Mail cache and the envelope index to the desktop and then reboot? Aren't those going to be essentially empty?
They may be empty, or they may be corrupt, just making them essentially useless or appear empty, we don't know yet, but upon reboot & starting Mail again, it'll make new fresh copies... which may also be empty, but should take corruption out of the picture.
Sorry to probe -- I'm quite skittish about just wading in and trying things, since, obviously, one click of the wrong button can obliterate tons of data and lead to hours of frustration. : )

If worried about losing anything that may be there now...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
One queston, is there any entries in System Preferences>.Mac, even for a trial account?

ALL Content Gone from iTunes on Upgrade

Help!! I upgraded to iTunes 7.0.1 and ALL of my previous content is gone. I'm afraid to poke around and look for it, or to sync my first generation 10G iPod for fear of losing all I have left. Previously purchased music, playlists, eveything uploaded over the years...GONE! I can't find this topic covered yet - Any suggestions?

At first glance, I just had the same problem. However, all files are still in my iTunes Music folder, the library, playlists etc just don't show up in the iTunes browser. Check for your iTunes Music folder. There are several other posts about content not showing up in iTunes after the 7.01 upgrade, so hopefully we'll find out more soon. I've tried replacing the preference files with older backup versions, but that doesn't fix it.

Help! Updated FW to 2.4 - Drive contents gone!

Last night I updated to 2.4 and my movies disappeared! I have 4 movies I purchased off iTunes and they are gone! I also had some content I created but I have backups for those. How do I get the movies re-downloaded?
I know in iTunes you have to purchase them again - but you can back up your iTunes directory (and I do) - The movies I purchased were only playable on the Apple TV

Apple TV should be backing up anything you bought via the ATV (this is how it works) to your iTunes library on your computer (if you have it set up to work with your iTunes library). They should not of only of been on your ATV.
However, there are links in your receipts you get emailed on how to contact them and explain the firmware got rid of them prior to your ATV backing up to your iTunes library and they can push them to your downloads again so they will download next time you access iTunes (..well they have ability but you need to contact them and they have to agree).

T400 - Recovery to Factory Contents gone wrong

I recently tried to restore my T400 to factory contents. Before I ran the recovery, here is how my drives were partitioned:
C: Main (90 GB)
E: Media (200 GB)
S: SERVICE003 (1.5 GB)
Q: Lenovo (10 GB)
After I ran the recovery the drives looked like this:
C: Media (200 GB)
E: SW_Preload (90 GB)
F: Lenovo (10 GB)
S: SERVICE003 (1.5 GB)
As you can see, the partions seem to have played musical chairs with their drive letters and Vista is now installed on the E: partition instead of C:. After Vista started up for the first time after the recovery, none of the Lenovo startup utilities loaded and none of them will load from the startup menu because they are looking for the utilities on C:. Likewise, none of the Windows built in utilities will work. For instance I can't run regedit, msconfig, or the Computer or Disk management utilities. In fact, it seems that Windows won't run any executables. When I try to open ANY executable I get the following message:
"Windows cannot find 'X:\Blah\Blah.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
Another problem happens when I try to enter into the recovery software on bootup, it lets me go into the bios, but will not boot off of the recovery partition. I speculate this has something to do with the Lenovo partition letter being changed.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do here? Anything would be appreciated.

Thought all Vista T400/500 preloads came with only three partitions C:, Q: and S:. What is this 200GB Media partition? Please specify type, model and op sys for your T400.

Ipod playlists' contents gone

I disconnected my iPod from the cable without pressing the Eject button first & ended up losing all the data on the iPod. After restoring & syncing it, the contents of the playlists are missing in iTunes & the iPod. When I look in Finder though, the music files are still where they were before.
Which file(s) does iTunes use to map the music files to the playlists? I'd like to restore the file(s) from my backup program so I don't have to copy music files from the Music tab in iTunes to the correct playlists in iTunes.

Animated content always in foreground. Indesign CS 5.5

Hey, i got a huge problem.
I am working on an ipad publication, viewing in adobe's content viewer for ipad. i have a lot of interaction going on in there. For example, if i wanna put a video file in one of my documents, or a scrollable content, or a slideshow, it's working like it should. BUT, as soon as i put another object in the foreground, like a button, on it - this button (object) is jumping in the background, behind the interactive content. Imagine a simple slideshow, with 3 buttons on it. as soon as i touch the buttons (using in content viewer) they immidiately jump behind the slideshow and you cannot see them anymore. what can i do? do i have to set the buttons, to force them in the forground? If yes -HOW? I've seen in the wired magazine for ipad, which is made with indesign, a video, which has object laying over, and whan you press play, the objects keep staying in the foreground and dont jump back. so its working - but how did they do that?

Thank you for your help. It solved my problem. I was following instructions that made it seem as if when I clicked on Export it would show Epub as a choice. In fact, it shows the Export window and I have to click on the Save as type drop down list to find Epub. Your reply got me to look closer at the Export window and that solved the problem. Where has my Itunes content gone?

I opened itunes today and many things were gone i.e. all apps and podcasts, and all of my playlists have gone. when I plugged in my iphone to itunes it also showed no apps ,podcasts music. what could be wrong?

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

All content GONE! How do I fix it!?(Files still there, not showing in iTunes)

So I had an issue where iTunes would not let me add content of any kind to the library. It worked on other user profiles, but not the main one(which is where all of my music is stored). I called AppleCare and the person who helped me made me do some things to the iTunes Library. Long story short all of my content is not showing in iTunes. It is still in my iTunes folder, just not displaying in iTunes. A simple fix would be to drag all the folders into iTunes or import them to the library, but my original issue persists: no content is adding. They suggested that I perform an Archive and Install of OS X in order to fix the issue, but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea how I can fix this issue. If you have any tips, please help!

Did you create an alternate iTunes library when troubleshooting? Try starting iTunes while holding Option and then select the iTunes library with the files in it.
Did you remove a itunes library XML or ITL from the folder? Take a look at Apple's document about re-creating your iTunes library and try importing the XML file again.

IMovie Project contents gone missing – what's broken and where is it all?

I used the latest iMovie (iLife 09) on an dual-core Intel Mac tower to make a 6-minute movie for a client. First time I've ever used iMovie. Worked great and I subsequently used iDVD to burn it for standard DVD player viewing. Now when I open the original iMovie project there is nothing there although it's file size indicates there is clearly content. Nothing appears when I move my cursor around the screen and the project name does not appear at the top. I don't know how an iMovie project tracks its content "links". I'm wondering if I may have moved some files or renamed them and the iMovie project cannot find what it's looking for. Any idea what this newbie has done? Thank you all in advance.

It depends on whether you want to move everything (projects and events) or just the events which are the space consuming items.
Rather than go into a long winded reply here I suggest that you type the following topics into iMovie Help.
It is a great information resource:
1. Copying or moving a project
2. Copying or moving video from your event library
3. Consolidating a project's media.
Your other disc should show up as an icon at the end of your project library and in the event library there is a disc button just to the right of Event Library.

PS If you import directly into iMovie then you will have to move your imports to the other drive as per above.
Otherwise if you import video files to your computer then into iMovie, import them into your other drive instead of your primary.
