Drill Down In Excel like in web

Hi Friends
Can we have drill down facility in input scheule in Excel like wise in Web?
For Eg:
If i have 3 levels:
Initially Input schedule (Excel) need to display 1st level items next i click then need to drill down and final
base members will be in 3rd level.
I could do this in WEB.
Ex:
Other Income
   Duty drawback benefit
   Sale of scrap
   Lease rentals
   Miscellaneous income
Cost of Sales
   Raw materials and components consumed
   Traded goods
   Stores and Packing materials consumed
Initially i need to display
Other Income
Cost of Sales
once i click other income need to drill down and display base members then i give input & save

Hi,
In 7.5 you can do as follows :
Workbook Options>Drill Down Options>select Expand by Inserting new rows.
By double clicking on cell we can Expand or Collaps
In 10 , Its auto no need to set any options. Just double click will do.

What you want is possible as long as the table formatting you have helps.
What you can do is add a column to the table. Then use the following formulas
Formula in Column Name Cell:
=If(Drillfilters([Plant])="") Then "" Else Nameof([Buyer])
Formula in Column Values Cell:
=If(Drillfilters([Plant])="") Then "" Else ([Buyer])
Now, what I meant by "as long as your table formatting you have helps" is that, you need to change the border colors of the extra column to match with the report blank area, means the borders should be white in colour and the column width should be autofit and they wont be visible as they are white, once you drill on plants, the values come up.
So if your table has no border, that will be perfect.

Excel drill down problem

Hi Experts,
I have a problem with the drill down in Excel report.When I filter and drill down by employee, the report show me the profit center instead. This happens intermittenly and a few other users have the same issue.
I'm using Excel 2003, SAP GUI 710 and BEx Release 2004s (Support Package 12, Patch 1)
What could be the reason? can anyone please advice?

Hi Harlina,
Just a wild guess : do you see profit centre in the free characteristic list (list providing the characteistic for drill down). If you dont I think you can check profit centre info object, short description/medium description - check if it profit centre and not employee.
Also check if you have two employee characteristics available for drilldown - that could explain the intermittent nature.

Bubble Chart drill down issues

I have a filter and a bubble chat with 7 series. The chart is showing up bubbles with different size and colors as per the settings when I chnage the filter
The problem is with drill down
I want to drill down to a Bar chart when I click on bubbles. Each bubble click will drill down data into that bar charchart as a pop up. I know how to do it as I have done it in the past with other components.
But when I use drill down with bubble chart, I have to assign separate destination area for each series which makes it difficult to drill down into a chart. What i want is the bubbles to drill down data into a single row so that I can map the Y-axis of chart component to that row and X axis as fixed labels. But I am not able to do that. Moreover once inserted there is no way to clear the destination cells.
However if I use data in range options in bubble chart then I can use drill down as I get only one series in that case. But that method also has limitations.
1. I am not able to display series name on the bubbles. It doesn't make any sense to show bubbles without any labels.
2. All bubbles are of same color.
Is it possible to overcome above two limitations when using data in range option?

as a workaround you could define a special area as mapping area for the X-Y-chart.
This area is filled via excel formulas from the bubble chart drill down destinations. You can concatenate the values from the drill down target areas, like "=A4&A5" etc. Make sure to clear all cells except the actual drill down target cells.

Data Forms member drill down

Hi,
In data forms when i drill down to some member i always have the ancestor at the bottom. Is it possible to set it up to have the ancestor on the top?
When i drill down i would like to have my e.g. Revenue Total as a member on top and its descendants below when i drill down....

We have faced a similar situation ,where our clint while drilling down , he wants the parent on top. Not only in data form, its the same in reporting tools like Web analysis.
We did not find any setting which can change this pattern. We end up education users ? :)

ASO Drill down problem needing desperate help

In Excel addin and Financial Report, I have problems with drilling down. We're using Essbase ASO 9.3.1.
The scenario is as follows:
Parent 　Figures
z 　　
　z1 100
　z2 200
　z3 300
1. When I retrieve in Excel or FR for z, I get 600 which is corrent.
2. When I retrieve in Excel or FR for z1 or z2 or z3 or all together, I get correct figures.
3. When I retrieve in Excel or FR both parent and child, z = 600, z1 = 100, z2 = 200, z3 = 300, I still get correct figures.
Problem:
When I drill down from Excel or FR from a, which had correct figures, z1 = 100, z2 = 200, z3 = 300, will be correct but z will be missing (z = missing).
Is there anyway so that I can drill down from z and still having all figures correct like I get in point 3.?
Similarly I found a post as follows, which has similar problems:
ASO retrieves inconsistent between Excell and Finanical report in 9.3.1
The difference is that my Excel does not display parent as well when drilled down.

Hi Anjana,
Check your DSO setting was checked for SID generation upon activation or not. If it unchecked then your report will run very long time because of no indexes.
Try your report with the fields you are drill down indefault view and see how much time report is running. So you will know whether it is dril down problem or huge data problem. Try to keep as many as filters as per user.

I want to reset, making cell blank, the drill down cell when i click combo box.
I used push button to refresh or reset drill down value but it can not refresh(reset) drill down cell
because the destination cell of the chart remains drill down value

Can you confirm if what you're saying also holds for components with the "Enable Drill Down" option enabled, and the "Default Selection" is set to "No Selection (-1)"?
I'm running into an issue where the "Default Selection" value is not cleared out after performing 3 levels of drill-down. On the third time I do a drill-down, by default the first element is selected, even though I've set the "Default Selection" to "No Selection (-1)".

Unable to Drill Down for Report Designer

hellooo...I created a report using a query in Report Designer. My query is having a structure in the row and I'm using this query for the report in Report Designer. After I created this report in Report Designer, I assign this report in Web Application Designer and create a navigation pane to link this report for the drill down function. But I have problem on drill down this report in the web template when i click on this navigation pane for the free char i defined. Eg: when i drill down for the char in the free char under the navigation pane item, I cannot perform the drill down horizontally but can perform drill down vertically. After perform drill down, I don't see the values from that char being displayed in the reports. Just wondering report in report designer cannot have any drill down function? or is my query problem due to the structure i defined? thanks alotttt...

The report designer needs a fixed Column definition ( structures)
In case of drill across this requirement is not fullfilled.
This is not changable and is due to design, sorry.

Strange behavior with hidden text field for drill down

I am pretty sure I know the cause, just not sure how to work around...
I am trying to create a drill down report just like in the App Dev guide, and I have done everything the same as the example (2 times, once to follow the guide, and now on my app). The only difference is that I am using a text field rather than a numeric field as the link. This shouldn't be a problem (I wouldn't think) except that the text I NEED to use has '<==' in the middle. So when I check my session state var's, this is what I see:
CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ <==20060525101642
When what I should see is:
CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ <==20060525101642
So I think that I am gettting duplication because of the characters, but again I don't know how to solve it.

I am trying to create a drill down report similar to the one in the app developers guide. I have a query on pg 1 that includes the required text field as the link. When I click the link, I get an error on pg 2 - which is trying to use the value from pg 1. I did check and saw that even though I set this value in session state (I thought that was what happened when I assigned the 'name' and 'value' in the column link), it is passed in the url, which is where I figured it was breaking. As stated, I need to use this text value as it is the only unique key for the data (currently - this is a data validation step (not an ApEx validation), where users are handling issues with data uploaded from a csv).
My current process is as follows:
1. User uploads 2 csv's
2. Proc moves (from wwv_flow_files) and parses csv back into records and inserts into temp (all varchar2) table(s).
3. User is displayed 3 'reports' - for each type of validation required - from the stage/temp table
4. User would click on the 'Edit' link (like the drill down sample) to see more details about the record.
5. Once the user is done with these reports, they would click another button to 'process' the data (move it into base tables)
Because the text field is always unique, I figured I wouldn't create a sequence for this like I have for the 'base' (destination) tables.
I didn't know that I was using a 'get' rather than a 'post', but of course it is a link, not a button - so I should ahve known better.
Is there a way to do this without adding a sequence generated id for each, or is that just the quickest way?

Drill down problem in EC-CS when moved 4.7c to ECC 5.0

We are still using EC-CS and upgraded to ECC 5.0.
We have customised report for consolidated BS and income.While running the report thru GR55, we come across a screen ( during drill down ) which is like CX34, we can see that the dimension and version field is blank.We fill the values and excute , get error that "local currency of cons unit 123xx is not maintained " . Now we run cx34 in another session, populate the dimension , version etc. Go back to the report and there is no error. Has any one faced similar problem ?

I have used the GR55 reports to compare the extracted data in BCS with R/3.
Why he can not access the transaction code.. ask him to contact security admin to resolve it.

Vertical Drill Down Feature

Hi,
We have request from the client with the way OBIEE drills down. The client wants vertical drill down rather than horizontal. For example if you click on a year then Quarters for that particular Year appear in new column"Quarter" next to year. But our client is requesting a vertical Drill Down that means when you click on the Year Quarters related to that Year should appear in the same column underneath the year rather than a new column. Is it possible to do this in OBIEE.

How to reset the value of drill down - Chart

Hi gurus. I have a problem related with drilldown.
is there any way I can reset the drill down value?,of course, except for using reset button
(in this case "reset" means "make the cell blank of certain value")
I tried using "push button" and the cell is reset.
However, even though the cell is reset, the cell is set to the drill down value in one second.
ex. Drill down destination : a --> "" --> a
(a is drill down value)
Is there a way to reset the drilldown value?

SEM Cockpit Drill Down Parameters are Missing

Dear Team,
I am facing a strange problem with BW-SEM Cockpit - we had imp. the SEM
Cockpit a year ago and it was working fine with all drill down parameter within
the internal web. but suddenly for some reason, all my cockpit KPI graphs are
not showing the drill down parameters, I have checked my settings of each KPI
for parameters, all are intact, no changes..
But how come it is happing all of sudden..?
guys kindly throw some light on this issue if any one of you have come across
this situation..or any std. proposals/recomended sol. are welcome.

EC_CS drill down problem

We are still using EC-CS and upgraded to ECC 5.0.
We have customised report for consolidated BS and income.While running the report thru GR55, we come across a screen ( during drill down ) which is like CX34, we can see that the dimension and version field is blank.We fill the values and excute , get error that "local currency of cons unit 123xx is not maintained " . Now we run cx34 in another session, populate the dimension , version etc. Go back to the report and there is no error. Has any one faced similar problem ? This problem was not there in 4.5 , it only started after migrating to ecc.Gurus kindly shed some light on cx34 mistry.

could you please check in tabe TF164 whether the currency indicator is really missing for any cons unit? (use no selection to dimension or version).
If it did not help, what is the error message number?
