Drill-Down limitations

I would ask about an specific drill-down case where I am losing drill-down capabilities:
is it possible that using combined requests disable the drill-down options? On my case, I have a parent report (using combined requests) linked to a second one using *"Navigate to"* option. The problem is that choicing a value on first report does not filtering by this value on the second report. In the second report, the field is filtered using "is prompted" option.
Is that a normal case?
Thanks everybody.

Yeah, still having this issue... Can't get the links working

I have been having alot of problems recently with the new

Another problem is that I have reports that return around

  • Limits the PerformancePoint Analytic Chart drill down dimensions

Actually my requirement is, how to limits the Performance Point Analytic Chart drill down dimensions.
I am using SQL Server 2008 R2. Is it possible to achieve it in SQL Server 2008 R2 without
    Perspective?
I should not change my system from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012 for

Is there any other way to achieve it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Poomani,
In your scenario, you create a Performance Point Analytic Chart, now the requirement is that limit the Performance Point Analytic Chart drill down dimensions, right?
As you know, to limit the drill down dimensions, we can created a perspective in the cube that limited the visible dimensions to those couple of dimensions. In your scenario, you said that you need change my system from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012
for Perspective, right? We can create a Perspective on SQL Server 2008 R2 version. The links below might help.

  • Poor performance with WebI and BW hierarchy drill-down...

    Hi
We are currently implementing a large HR solution with BW as backend
and WebI and Xcelcius as frontend. As part of this we are experiencing
very poor performance when doing drill-down in WebI on a BW hierarchy.
In general we are experiencing ok performance during selection of data
and traditional WebI filtering - however when using the BW hierarchy
for navigation within WebI, response times are significantly increasing.
The general solution setup are as follows:
    1) Business Content version of the personnel administration
infoprovider - 0PA_C01. The Infoprovider contains 30.000 records
    2) Multiprovider to act as semantic Data Mart layer in BW.
    3) Bex Query to act as Data Mart Query and metadata exchange for BOE.
All key figure restrictions and calculations are done in this Data Mart
    Query.
    4) Traditionel BO OLAP universe 1:1 mapped to Bex Data Mart query. No
calculations etc. are done in the universe.
    5) WebI report with limited objects included in the WebI query.
As we are aware that performance is an very subjective issues we have
created several case scenarios with different dataset sizes, various
filter criteria's and modeling techniques in BW.
Furthermore we have tried to apply various traditional BW performance
tuning techniques including aggregates, physical partitioning and pre-
calculation - all without any luck (pre-calculation doesn't seem to
work at all as WebI apparently isn't using the BW OLAP cache).
In general the best result we can get is with a completely stripped WebI report without any variables etc.
and a total dataset of 1000 records transferred to WebI. Even in this scenario we can't get
each navigational step (when using drill-down on Organizational Unit
hierarchy - 0ORGUNIT) to perform faster than minimum 15-20 seconds per.
    navigational step.
That is each navigational step takes 15-20 seconds
with only 1000 records in the WebI cache when using drill-down on org.
    unit hierachy !!.
Running the same Bex query from Bex Analyzer with a full dataset of
30.000 records on lowest level of detail returns a threshold of 1-2
seconds pr. navigational step thus eliminating that this should be a BW
    modeling issue.
As our productive scenario obviously involves a far larger dataset as
well as separate data from CATS and PT infoproviders we are very
worried if we will ever be able to utilize hierarchy drill-down from
    WebI ?.
The question is as such if there are any known performance issues
related to the use of BW hierarchy drill-down from WebI and if so are
there any ways to get around them ?.
As an alternative we are currently considering changing our reporting
strategy by creating several higher aggregated reports to avoid
hierarchy navigation at all. However we still need to support specific
division and their need to navigate the WebI dataset without
limitations which makes this issue critical.
Hope that you are able to help.
    Thanks in advance
    /Frank

Hi Henry, thank you for your suggestions although i´m not agree with you that 20 seconds is pretty good for that navigation step. The same query executed with BEx Analyzer takes only 1-2 seconds to do the drill down.
    Actions
suppress unassigned nodes in RSH1: Magic!! This was the main problem!!
tick use structure elements in RSRT: Done it.
enable query stripping in WebI: Done it.
upgrade your BW to SP09: Has the SP09 some inprovements in relation to this point ?
use more runtime query filters. : Not possible. Very simple query.
    Others:
RSRT combination H-1-3-3-1 (Expand nodes/Permanent Cache BLOB)
Uncheck prelimirary Hierarchy presentation in Query. only selected.
Check "Use query drill" in webi properties.
Sorry for this mixed message but when i was answering i tryied what you suggest in relation with supress unassigned nodes and it works perfectly. This is what is cusing the bottleneck!! incredible...

  • Javascript Problem for Drill Down Action in SSRS Report when integrated to PPS 2010

    Hi all,
I have a SSRS report which is integrated to PPS 2010(Performance Point Services) and it is having a drill down action through Go to URL action(I wrote javascript:void(window.open('xxxxx')) to open drill down report in new window).
This report has 5 parameters and all are multiple valued. Drill down report is opening very well when I open the report form Report Manager for any number of parameters values selected. But when I integrate the same report is PPS and deployed to SharePoint
then it is working only for 23 parameter values selected in PPS filters. If I select more the 23 values in PPS filters then the drilldown report is not opening.
But it is working well in Chrome, I verified in IE and Mozilla, both browsers are having problem.
When I look at Error Console of Mozilla, it is showing a javascript error as "Error: uncaught exception: ReferenceError: window is not defined" but the same report is working well if I select less than 24 filter values.
    Please provide me the solution
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Vasu,
The issue might occur due to the Microsoft security update MS11-100 which limits the maximum number of form keys, files, and JSON members to 1000 in an HTTP request. Here, I suggest that you modify the Web.config file of the SharePoint site as follows:
    <appSettings>
    <add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="10000" />
    </appSettings>
If the SharePoint site uses the port 80, the web.config file of the SharePoint site is located in the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\80 folder.
    Reference:
An ASP.NET request that has lots of form keys, files, or JSON payload members fails with an exception
If the issue persist, please check whether there are any related errors in the Reporting Services log file which is located in <Drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRSXX.<Instance Name>\Reporting Services\LogFiles.

  • FGI0 "New GL" Receivables by Profit center- Drill down/Call-Up report

    Dear all,
I am using S_AC0_52000887 to view receivables by profit center as we have activated New GL. FBL5N is not possible to see since we have multiple profit centers per customer and FAGLL03 which is a New GL report has no selection by customer on selection screen.
However, S_AC0_52000887 has limited information- I want to see the line items in the report. I use FGI0 and copy a new report using 0SAPRECIEV01 and want to drill down by line items to the FAGLL03 view. So i go to Extras menu > Report Assignment and assign to FAGL_ACCOUNT_ITEMS_GL program. However, the report parameters are not being passed in.
Can anyone assist how to pass the parameters in the main report, to the call-up report?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Huimin

If you are trying to view such a report through transaction code FBL1N, then I would suggest you follow the solution described in this thread below:
Re: Add field Net Due Date at the selection field in FBL1N t.code
Also to view profit center wise, use the dynamic selections in FBL1N to select profit center.

  • Bubble Chart drill down issues

I have a filter and a bubble chat with 7 series. The chart is showing up bubbles with different size and colors as per the settings when I chnage the filter
The problem is with drill down
I want to drill down to a Bar chart when I click on bubbles. Each bubble click will drill down data into that bar charchart as a pop up. I know how to do it as I have done it in the past with other components.
But when I use drill down with bubble chart, I have to assign separate destination area for each series which makes it difficult to drill down into a chart. What i want is the bubbles to drill down data into a single row so that I can map the Y-axis of chart component to that row and X axis as fixed labels. But I am not able to do that. Moreover once inserted there is no way to clear the destination cells.
However if I use data in range options in bubble chart then I can use drill down as I get only one series in that case. But that method also has limitations.
    1. I am not able to display series name on the bubbles. It doesn't make any sense to show bubbles without any labels.
    2. All bubbles are of same color.
Is it possible to overcome above two limitations when using data in range option?
    Thanks

    Hi Tarun,
as a workaround you could define a special area as mapping area for the X-Y-chart.
This area is filled via excel formulas from the bubble chart drill down destinations. You can concatenate the values from the drill down target areas, like "=A4&A5" etc. Make sure to clear all cells except the actual drill down target cells.
    Hope this helps,

  • Master detail view with drill down

I am trying to develop a simple app for my Ipad. This app is supposed to have a Master/details look and should behave similar to the native Mail app (2x levels of navigation and the last level updates the details view).
My problem is that I am not familiar to Apple IOS development so tend to get stuck all the time so I prefer to follow a tutorial or start with a sample project. I have searched for hours but I always either get a pure navigation drill down project without the details view or a pure master/details project with only a single level of navigation. I tried to take these projects and modify them but my knowledge sadly is very limited and I did not succeed.
So can anybody direct me to a tutorial or a sample project where a Mail like app is being built with more than 1 level of navigation ?

I have a GridBagLayout panel with a jtable and some jtextfield Well, we don't know exactly what constraints you have set up to its hard to say exactly why its happening.
In general, you should create your JTextField using new JTextField(int) and I think the problem will go away.
An easier solution would also be to use different LayoutManagers to achieve the desired layout.

  • Register Drill-Down Reports in Oracle Apps 11i

I understand the registration process for registering a drill-down Oracle*Report in Oracle Applications is more complex as for a standard Oracle*Report. Does anyone know what the steps are, or where I can find documentation on this.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi,
ah ok, now the situation gets clearer ;)
Normally I would say that drill-down requires some kind of interactivity, so I am not sure if reports is the best way for this, because the functionality of reports is:
enter parameters > run > view output. But for drill-down you need some more functionality: select a column/value where you want to drill-in or out, have some kind of hierarchy to select the "drill-level"... I don't think that this is foreseen in Reports 6i. So I would try maybe two different ways:
    1. design the report in a way that the users can select the drill-level (or level of detail) as a report parameter. For example you create a parameter "Detail Level" with possible values "Summary", "Detailed Rows". Based on the parameter value chosen the report returns different output. This keeps you of course limited to a certain, fixed set of drill-levels, but I think this is ok in most of the cases.
    2. Another option could be to create several different reports, for example one "Summary" report and one "detailed" report, and in the summary report you could include links (dynamic URLs) to the detailed report, and when the user clicks on a certain value in the Summary report, then the detailed report is started for that specific value. However this is a bit more complex, I'd go for the first option.
But to get real drill-down functionality you should consider using Discoverer or BI Publisher technology, those are perfect for such kind of reports.
    kind regards,
    David.

  • Drill down using more than three items

Is it possible to supply more than three parameters to the column link?
I am making a drill down from summary report to the detail report, and I need to pass five parameters to the detail report. The list of items under
    Application Builder > Application X > Page Y > Report Attributes > Column Attributes > Link
is limited to three items. Is there a way around this limitation?
    Thanks,
    Tim

You need to change you link type from <b>Page In This Application</b> to <b>URL</b>. You'll then need to encode each parameter name and it's value into the last two elements of the f?p format. You can use a two or three parameter URL as an example and just modify from there. <br>
    <br>
For example (from one of my applications):<br>
    <br>
    f?p=101:13:::NO::P13_NAME,P13_SEQ_ID:Lee%2C396<br>
    <br>
The relevant part is the last colon (or the fields on either side of it more specifically). The first set of fields <b>P13_NAME,P13_SEQ_ID</b> are my page item names on the destination page (where we're going) and the last two <b>Lee%2C396</b> are their values from the source page (where we're coming from). The %2C is an encoded comma. In order to get this in your output, you want to set your URL to something like:<br>
    <br>
    f?p=101:13:::NO::P13_ITEM1,P13_ITEM2:&P12_ITEM1.,&P12_ITEM2.<br>
    <br>
I'm doing this from memory since I can't find a good example for you, but I think I'm pretty close in the syntax.<br>
    <br>
    Hope it helps.<br>

  • Presentation Services crash on Drill Down in a report

    Hi,
We are using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition v10.1.3.4 running on a Windows 2003 server. The underlying database is an instance of Oracle OLAP 11g v11.1.0.6.0.
It has been noticed that for some of our reports, when we click on a data item which is a hyperlink (member of a hierarchy in the underlying OLAP cube), then it is expected that the report should drill down to show the children of the element being clicked on. For some of these elements, the number of children in the drill down is potentially larger than any 'normal' element. A click (drill down) on such an element results in the following error message being recorded in the NQServer.log and the Presentation Services crash at the same time.
*[nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=recv: (Number=10054) An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.*
It seems that at this point in time the report is hitting some threshold of the application (like CubeMaxRecords or CubeMaxPopulatedCells). We have not yet changed the defaults for any of the parameters in the instanceconfig.xml file since some users claim that increasing the limits for the default parameters result in a performance hit.
Any thoughts on overcoming this problem scenario are highly appreciated.

  • Drill Down in Crystal Reports

    Gurus,
I am trying to add drill down to my Crystal Report, I know this can be achieved by using Hyperlink but the button for drill down is disabled. How can I enable this achieve the drill down function. Please find attach file for your convince.
    Faisal Baloch

    Hi Faisal........
    Please check the below explanation.......
    The Report Part Drilldown option
The Report Part Drilldown option lets you define a hyperlink so that the Report Part Viewer can emulate the drill-down functionality of Crystal Reports. The Report Part Viewer displays only destination objects; therefore, to make drill down work, you need to define a navigation path from a home object to one or more destination objects. When you have multiple destination objects, they must all reside in the same report section.
The Report Part Drilldown option does not affect the DHTML page viewers since the option emulates the default Crystal Reports behavior for drill down (which the page viewers already support). Page viewers, however, do not limit which objects are displayed—they always show all report objects.
Note: Use the Report Part Drilldown option only to navigate between objects in the same report.
Because the Report Part Viewer shows only destination objects, you must define Initial Report Part Settings (that is, a default home object) for a report before your Report Part Drilldown hyperlinks can work. A report's Initial Report Part Settings define the object that appears first in the Report Part Viewer. Think of this object as the place you'll begin your path of drill-down hyperlinks from.
To define Initial Report Part Settings
Open the report whose default home object you want to define.
Right-click the object you want to set as the default home object and select Copy from its shortcut menu.
On the File menu, click Report Options.
In the Initial Report Part Settings area of the Report Options dialog box, click Paste Link.
The program pastes the name and data context of the report object you selected as your home object into the appropriate fields.
Tip: For more information about data contexts, see Data context formats.
Include another object from the same section of the report by entering a semi-colon (;) and typing the name of the object.
    Click OK.
To create a Report Part Drilldown hyperlink
Note: Before you begin this procedure, be sure to read Setting up navigation to acquaint yourself with the limitations of creating this type of hyperlink.
Open a report and select the intended destination object; then click the Format button on the Expert Tools toolbar.
Tip: You can also do this by selecting Format Field from the Format menu.
In the Format Editor, click the Hyperlink tab.
In the DHTML Viewer Only area, select Report Part Drilldown.
The "Hyperlink information" area changes to show the fields available for this type of hyperlink.
The Available Fields area shows only the sections and report objects you can select for drill down. In general, these objects include field objects, charts, maps, bitmaps, cross-tabs, and text objects contained in the next section down (that is, for example, objects in group two when the object you selected is in group one).
Note: The Available Fields area does not show suppressed report objects.
In the Available Fields area, select the section or report object(s) you want to use as your drill down destination.
Tip: Use the Report Explorer to quickly identify the default names assigned to each of your report objects. To open the Report Explorer, click its button on the Standard toolbar.
You can add all the objects in a section by selecting the section node. If you expand the section node, you can select one or more of the objects that it contains.
Use the arrow buttons to move the selected section or object(s) to the Fields to Display area.
For ease of identification, the program creates a section node in the Fields to Display area. This node contains the objects that you selected in the Available Fields area.
If you want to add another object to the Fields to Display area, select it in the Available Fields list and drag it into position.
    Note:
The position an object has in the Fields to Display area determines how it appears in the Report Part Viewer; top to bottom in the Fields to Display area equates to left to right in the viewer. Use the arrows above the Fields to Display area to change the order of objects. (Note that a programmer can alter this default behavior through the PreserveLayout property of the Report Part Viewer.)
The Fields to Display area can contain only one section at a time. If you try to add a second section or an object from a second section, it replaces any existing section in the Fields to Display area.
    Click OK.
You have established a hyperlink from your report's home object to a destination object or objects. In the Report Part Viewer, you will see the home object first, and when you click it for drill down, you will see the destination object(s).

    Rahul

  • Maintain Columns for Higher Levels in Hierarchy when using Drill Down

    Hello all,
I've searched through this forum looking for an answer to this, since I thought it might be a common question, but I wasn't able to find any related content.  So I apologize if this has already been answered in the past.
I would like to know if when drilling down in a WEBI report, it is possible to automatically add dimension columns to a report as you drill down to the lower levels in the heirarchy, and keep the columns with the higher level dimension values, rather than replace those columns, which is the default behavior.  As a simple example, suppose I have the following columns in a report:
       Product      Sales Amount
Now suppose I have set up a heirarchy in the Universe with Product, Sub-Product, then Region, in that order.  In the WEBI report with the drill filter options enabled, when I click on the Product link, the default behavior is to replace the Product column with the Sub-Product dimension and display the following:
      Sub-Product  Sales Amount
Instead, I would like it to display:
      Product Sub-Product Sales Amount
    Then subsequently, of course:
       Product Sub-Product Region Sales Amount
Does anybody know of a simple way to accomplish this?  I suppose this could be accomplished using the openDocument method with links to separate reports showing the addtional columns, but this seems a bit complicated for a relatively smple requirement.  I'm hoping that there is an existing simpler solution to this problem.  Please advise.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Bernardo,
The drill down capability is vertical and not horizontal.  There are two solutions, the one of open document as you mentioned is one.  The other solution depends on the way you have deployed your system.  If you have given users the capability to run reports in "modify" mode (WebI), then they can insert columns to the grid according to the scenario you mention
    Product Sub-Product Sales Amount
and forego using the "drill fiter" per se.  If your deployment only permits most users to view the report in "read-only" mode (InfoView), then you have limited options.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Crosstab drill down

    Hi All,
I have created a report in the following format
    chart                                     chart
Breakdown by Location    breakdown by work type
    location1 - count                worktype 1 - count
    location 2 - count               worktype 2 - count
The second section of the report is grouped by location and work type ( dynamic groups based on parameters) with the appropriate field headers and details.
I created the first section of the report using a cross tab with the appropriate summaries. I would now like to implement a drill down capability on the crosstab such that the user can click on worktype 1 and view the records for the appropriate work type. I did see suggestions online on creating sub reports but I am not sure where to start.
    Thanks a lot

    Hello Ian,
I'm new to this manual crosstab idea. Can you provide some more details on it? If you can provide some steps, it would be great. Please let me know if there are any limitations for manual crosstabs.
    Thanks in advance,
