Drill Down on one page (as opposed to two)

Can a drill-down be done on one page, rather than two? I'd like to create a simple report with counts and have those counts be hyperlinks. When the hyperlink is clicked, I'd like to show the detail that make up those counts.
Hope this simple question makes sense.
Thanks!
Steve

Sergio,
Thanks for the reply - I do appreciate it. I guess what really confuses me then is how to create a region (I'm assuming my page would be constructed of two regions - one that shows summary data with hyperlinks, and one that will show dynamic detail - based on which item they want to run details for) that can be hidden and shown? I have this problem on another page I'm working on - I just haven't figured out how to hide a region until a submit button or hyperlink is pressed?
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks!
Steve

  • How to drill down another one report on one field value of one row

    Hi,
I have two reports that can link together on one field of respective database query command. The effect i want to reach is that when user clicks this field value on some row of one report, which i call source object, another report, target object, would use this value as input parameter and the page would jump to this linked report. I can see Format Editor provides Hyperlink feature when one field is edited, but i don't know how to associate another report as what i described here.
What if one the following conditions is met:
1.one of two objects, source object, is one chart object
2.target object is  one chart object
3.two objects are both chart objects
Note: two objects is separately from different reports.
Additionally, is it possible to code for hyperlink functionality under both .NET WinForm and WebForm? what if under RDC?
    Thank you

I don't know if you can use the hyperlink to call a subreport but the following has worked for me in Crystal 10:
    1. In your main report create a group on the field you want to pass to the subreport.
    2. In the Group Footer, use the "Insert Section below" menu command so that you have a Group Footer 1a and a Group Footer 1b.
    3. Put your table fields in the Group Footer 1b section (this would be similar to your Details data).
    4. Put the sub report in the Group Footer 1a section. Set up the links to the subreport from a table field in your main report.
    5. Right-click on the sub-report, select "Format Sub-report". Click on the "x-2" button to the right of the Suppress option and enter "DrillDownGroupLevel = 0" in the "Formula Workshop-Formula Format Editor-Suppress" window and save it.
When you double-click on your data field (i.e. the field in Group footer 1b) it should drill-down and run your subreport.

  • Advanced template to drill down from one dimension to another

    Dear all:
    Situation
I am trying to create an report that displays my Accounts by month. In addition, after I double-click each account (if it is a base member), it drills down to open Entity (in my case Cost Center) associated with that Account number. In the Entity drill-down section, once the Entity becomes a base member, it drills down to IO (internal orders) associated with a particular cost center.
    Data
    1. I tried to manipulate existing "Double Drill Down" dynamic template, and disabled the column expansion (because my columns consist of months of actual vs. budget and some ratio calculation). The problem is that after I drilled down, my EVGTS formula was not replicated in the other dimension
    2. I tried to integrate EVEXP into EVDRE but was unsuccessful too... The expansion worked as if everything got expanded at the same time.
    Question
Is my approach correct? Is this an even good practice to do, or I should keep it as standard as possible?
    Thank you!
    Have a great day!
    Sincerely,
    Brian

The double-drill down dynamic template accommodate my need, except I didn't modify the report to my format correctly.

  • How to get the C309a to read an actual sized map on USGS rather than scale it down to one page size

Once upon a time, long, long, ago, when DOS was king, a printer would print out multiple sheets of a screenshot, even though the screen was larger than the 8 1/2 x 10-14 paper size. So, what you got was, say, 8 sheets of paper, which you had to tape together to get the entire picture of the screen.
I have been trying to figure out a way to print the MVUM maps from the USGS website, so we can go off-roading legally and responsibly.  To pull up one of these maps, you must click on an Acrobat formatted engine. Although you can resize the map itself to normal size, when it comes time to print, regardless of the print & printer settings, it will either print the enitre map on a single sheet of paper, or it will only print one thirtysecond of the entire map, with no option to continue printing.
My question...is there a way to disable or enable the print mode to print the map its actual size, and not just one page of it?

What operating system?  In Windows 7 x64 I opened this page in IE9, right clicked on the map and selected print, then selected "Tile large pages".  When I started printing it began spitting out the 24 pages properly tiled.  I only let it print the first 4 pages, but it seems to be doing the "right" thing.

    Hi,
I would be surprised if anyone outside of Oracle can run your sample application because its behind the firewall.
The error message is caused by changes that are applied to the underlying iterator without refreshing the UI in which case the two are out of synch. What helps is to PPR the UI (e.g the table as a result of a command action)

  • Drill down reports using SVG component

I've created and dynamic report and an SVG chart following the examples of the tutorials. I was wondering if, and how, it was possible to create drill-down reports i.e report on colour, then clicking on that colour would reveal the types of car and so on. Does anyone have an example?
    Thanks
    Darren

    Darren,
The query for an SVG chart requires 3 columns: Link, Label, and Value. You use the Link value to provide a link to another page. This link can also pass parameters to the next page.
If you set up a page for each "level" of your drill-down (e.g. color, type of car, etc), you can link from the higher-level page to the lower level page and pass the value that was clicked on in the chart.
Take a look in the HTML DB User's Guide for the section about "Using f?p Syntax to Link Pages": http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/appdev.101/b10992/mvl_fund.htm#BEIJCIAG
You would use that syntax in the Link column of the query for your chart. Here is part of a query I used to drill down from one pie char to another (on page 3), passing the selected project to a variable called P3_PROJECT.
    select 'f?p=&APP_ID.:3:&SESSION.::NO::P3_PROJECT:' || Project L,
    Project, sum(Time)
    from v_timesheet
    where ...
    Does that help?

  • Drill down reports in portlets

I am using portal to create an MIS reporting system. I want to create drill down reports however if I try to drill down from a report portlet the other report does not show up in the same region or even on a page of that page group. Instead it uses the template specified for the report. Is there a way to drill down from one report portlet to another?

    Hi Prashant,
You can try T code CJE0 - report 12KST1G . Here at least you remain in the screen of CJE0 instead of going to SAP menu after exit from the report. But this also doesn't solve your problem.
I have checked transaction code S_ALR_87013534. It is giving same problem. As suggested by Shrikant , you can raise OSS note to SAP.

  • Drill-down and how to reset to the highest level?

    Good Morning,
    A second question on drill-down:
My dashboard page still looks like this:
    Dummy Prompt 1: YearFrom
    Dummy Prompt 2: YearTo
    Prompt 3: Item
All three prompts have a presentation variable to show their respective value in the title of the dashboard page.
Below the prompts is the report, which is filtered by the three prompts and contains a column "year" with the option to drill-down.
When I drill-down on a "year" value, a column "month" appears and shows the values of the year by month.
Problem: In order to start a new query, the first query values have to be reset (I implemented a button for this) to get back to the "year" report. This is not obvious to the user.
Question: Is there a way to implement the "Reset" button into the "Go" button or another way to avoid the reset for the user?
    Again every idea is appreciated
    Turalf

The reset button does not work because when anything is entered in the operator field, and you press "reset", two events occur (1) a change is detected in the operator field and (2), a change in the reset is detected. Event (1) occurs first stopping the loop. The reset case is thus never reached.
One solution would be to sense the reset state in the "operator" event. You need to keep the loop running if reset is pressed. (See attached modification.)
Some other suggestions: Notice that I also made a data dependency between the case structure and the while loop. Without this, there is no guarantee that the case structure executes before the while loop and you might generate a race condition with unexpected results. I also re
moved the timeout event, it doesn't seem to do anything. The three text fields should be set to "limit to single line" in this application so fields can be finished by hitting the enter key).

  • Drill Down in Crystal Reports

    Gurus,
I am trying to add drill down to my Crystal Report, I know this can be achieved by using Hyperlink but the button for drill down is disabled. How can I enable this achieve the drill down function. Please find attach file for your convince.
    Faisal Baloch

    Hi Faisal........
    Please check the below explanation.......
    The Report Part Drilldown option
The Report Part Drilldown option lets you define a hyperlink so that the Report Part Viewer can emulate the drill-down functionality of Crystal Reports. The Report Part Viewer displays only destination objects; therefore, to make drill down work, you need to define a navigation path from a home object to one or more destination objects. When you have multiple destination objects, they must all reside in the same report section.
The Report Part Drilldown option does not affect the DHTML page viewers since the option emulates the default Crystal Reports behavior for drill down (which the page viewers already support). Page viewers, however, do not limit which objects are displayed—they always show all report objects.
Note: Use the Report Part Drilldown option only to navigate between objects in the same report.
Because the Report Part Viewer shows only destination objects, you must define Initial Report Part Settings (that is, a default home object) for a report before your Report Part Drilldown hyperlinks can work. A report's Initial Report Part Settings define the object that appears first in the Report Part Viewer. Think of this object as the place you'll begin your path of drill-down hyperlinks from.
To define Initial Report Part Settings
Open the report whose default home object you want to define.
Right-click the object you want to set as the default home object and select Copy from its shortcut menu.
On the File menu, click Report Options.
In the Initial Report Part Settings area of the Report Options dialog box, click Paste Link.
The program pastes the name and data context of the report object you selected as your home object into the appropriate fields.
Tip: For more information about data contexts, see Data context formats.
Include another object from the same section of the report by entering a semi-colon (;) and typing the name of the object.
    Click OK.
To create a Report Part Drilldown hyperlink
Note: Before you begin this procedure, be sure to read Setting up navigation to acquaint yourself with the limitations of creating this type of hyperlink.
Open a report and select the intended destination object; then click the Format button on the Expert Tools toolbar.
Tip: You can also do this by selecting Format Field from the Format menu.
In the Format Editor, click the Hyperlink tab.
In the DHTML Viewer Only area, select Report Part Drilldown.
The "Hyperlink information" area changes to show the fields available for this type of hyperlink.
The Available Fields area shows only the sections and report objects you can select for drill down. In general, these objects include field objects, charts, maps, bitmaps, cross-tabs, and text objects contained in the next section down (that is, for example, objects in group two when the object you selected is in group one).
Note: The Available Fields area does not show suppressed report objects.
In the Available Fields area, select the section or report object(s) you want to use as your drill down destination.
Tip: Use the Report Explorer to quickly identify the default names assigned to each of your report objects. To open the Report Explorer, click its button on the Standard toolbar.
You can add all the objects in a section by selecting the section node. If you expand the section node, you can select one or more of the objects that it contains.
Use the arrow buttons to move the selected section or object(s) to the Fields to Display area.
For ease of identification, the program creates a section node in the Fields to Display area. This node contains the objects that you selected in the Available Fields area.
If you want to add another object to the Fields to Display area, select it in the Available Fields list and drag it into position.
    Note:
The position an object has in the Fields to Display area determines how it appears in the Report Part Viewer; top to bottom in the Fields to Display area equates to left to right in the viewer. Use the arrows above the Fields to Display area to change the order of objects. (Note that a programmer can alter this default behavior through the PreserveLayout property of the Report Part Viewer.)
The Fields to Display area can contain only one section at a time. If you try to add a second section or an object from a second section, it replaces any existing section in the Fields to Display area.
    Click OK.
You have established a hyperlink from your report's home object to a destination object or objects. In the Report Part Viewer, you will see the home object first, and when you click it for drill down, you will see the destination object(s).
    Regards,
    Rahul

  • "Enable query drill" opt. with multiple DPs launch all when drilling down

    Hi folks,
I am using BO XI R2 and i am experiencing a weird behavior.
I have created a report with 11 data providers and the option "Query drill" enabled. The reason is that I have several COUNT DISTINCT measures that need to go to the database when I drill down (not possible to aggregate them). Basicaly, I have one data provider per item where item could be a table or a chart.
Now, when I do a drill down in one of dimensions in the tables/charts, I check the processes in the database and it looks like it is launching all the data providers, not just the one I am doing drill down with, so the performance is very poor. Anyone has experienced this behavior? Am I missing anything?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi John,
Following information might be helpful in resolving the issue.
You are able to drill only in one dimension in one report tab. The same dimension contained in 2nd report tab based on the same data provider is not drilled.
This is contradictory to what is documented in the product guide. See page 75 of the guide xir2_wi_analysis_en.pdf section 'Query drill and other reports based on the same data provider':
"Query drill and other reports based on the same data provider
If your document contains other reports that contain dimensions on which you drill in query drill mode, these reports are affected because the query drill modifies the dimensions they contain.
Example: Drilling on a dimension that appears in another report If you have two reports based on a query that contains Year, Quarter and Sales Revenue, and you use query drill to drill down to Year = 2001 on the first report, Web Intelligence also filters the data for Year in the second report to include 2001 only.
You can avoid this (at the cost of retrieving duplicate data into Web Intelligence) by creating a new data provider and rebuilding the other report against it. Now when you drill in query drill mode, the other report remains unaffected."
I hope this will help you.

  • Drill down pie chart using SVG

Having read several posts in this forum regarding SVG, pie charts and drilling down, I get the impression that it is possible, using the "link" column in the chart query, to drill down to another page.
My requirement is similar in that given a pie chart, the user can click on one of the sections of the pie and see more detail in another pie chart. The difference is that the page should not change (ie: other graphics and content ought not change when the pie chart is clicked).
Has anyone worked out a solution for something like this?
Is it, for example, possible to, on clicking the pie chart, have a conditional display set for a previously hidden chart and hide the original chart?
    Your replies are appreciated.

I just re-read this and realize you want it on the same page. Same logic applies. Create a hidden item, a second chart region taking in the parameter from the first, and set it to show only when the hidden item is not null.
Let me know what you think:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=20332:1
