Drill Down Query

Hello, I want to build a dashboard in which I want to have 2 combo boxes. These 2 combo box will drive the dashboard.
The first Combo Box will have Company Code Values, When user selects a value in it, then second combo box will populate the accounts relevant to that first combo box.
Then, that accounts will drive my Pie chart.
My question is how do I make the pie charts invisible first and only shown when user has selected the values?
So when dashboard comes up, User will only see 2 combo boxes and nothing else.
Please help.
Thanks.

Hi Venkat,
You can hide the pie chart using the dynamic visibility.
Refer to the link: Dashboards 4.0: Make components visible based on user selection

  • Rank function breaks drill down 11g

I have a simple drill down report standard hierarchy and am having a weird issue with the rank function.
This report works on 10g but the upgraded 11g version does not.
When I drill down past the 2nd level it adds an is null filter to the revenue column.  This is also the column we are using to base our rank function.
If I move the rank column to the first or last position in the table the drills work perfectly.  If I move it to the second column it breaks on the first drill instead of the 2nd.
It works perfectly if drilling on the headings instead of the values.  That seems to point to some sort of null coming through when being passed.  I've tried using an ifnull and a case statement and neither method works, it just applies the is null filter to the entire column formula.
The client doesn't want to change the position of the rank column so that work around will not do.  Any ideas?

A similar thread was recently talked about here:
In OBIEE charts, how do you make drill downs work on custom formulas?
With a calculated column, you need to make sure the source query and destination query have the EXACT same formula and the same name for the field. If it is not 100% identical, it may not work correctly. (I typically use the NAVIGATE function to get to the second query rather than the Drill function.)
Now in some cases, if you try to create a second drill down query with more details in it, the original formula doesn't work the way you want it to. The calculated formulas have to make sense in both source query and destination query in order to work properly. If you have a ranking of the Top 5 Products in the source query, the destination query also has to have the same ranking of Top 5 products in order to work. If you add more fields into the destination query (e.g., adding on product attributes, or # of records associated with that product name etc.), then sometimes the ranking / aggregation in the destination doesn't add up the same way. This causes the system to think that the formulas are different and prevents the drill down.
I managed to get around this by having a 3rd query in between the original summary view and the detailed data view. So the sequence would be (for example):
    - Dashboard based summary query (including the calculated ranked product names formula)
    - drill down into virtually identical query (add on one slight bit of difference here, for example adding on a second Product Name field ... not a calculated version, but the actual name). Create a drill down this time by clicking on the regular Product Name field (don't drill down on the custom formula)
    - final detailed drill-down query
You can format this intermediary drill down query to explain to users that they need to click a second time.
It's not ideal, but it should work. Hope this helps.

  • Drill down in Table or Pivot for derived column

    Hi All,
I have a requirement like Top 5 products should show the product names and remaining should go to *'Others'*. I achieved it by using Rank function and case when.
ex: case when rank(product) <=5 then product else 'Others' end
Now the problem is, I am not getting the Drill option for this column. When I use product column without case when or case when on same column like
case when product = 'xyz' then 'abc' else product end. In this case drill is working.
Can anybody suggest me to get the drill on the derived columns.
    Thanks in advance

  • Drill down ( Collapsible Row ) Report in BEx query designer ?

    Dear Friends!
I am supoosed to create a report drill down report for Purchasing History to be precise,  I know that we can have drill down feature using heirarchy but is it possible for Us to have PO & PO item heirarachy ? or any other way to do drill down reporting in SAP BEx Query designer ?
like my current report is : -
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
Now I am supposed to create a report  in which
    normal view
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | |> PO Number| .... ( keyfigures) | Payment |
drill down or collapsible view ( please consider the heading as data I am not talking about dynamically change of  headings ).
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | V PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
is there anyway to design the report in above mention manner ? you any input will be appreciated greatly.
    Thank you so much!
    Regards
    Naim

    Hi Naim,
usually we don't do the transactional data as hierarchy.  not sure the reason behind your requirement.
we can do one of the below :-
    1. To have the default view as
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
and then user can drill down on rest of the characteristics for detailed view later on.
    2. or if they don't want to drill down on characteristics;-
we can build 2 reports , one for header level information and then jump to second query for detailed information(item level) using RRI.
    first query:
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
    second query:
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant |  PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
Let us know if this works out?
    Regards,
    Sakthi.

Where do i have to write the code  in ABAP query ?
I am very new to ABAP query..this is the first query i have deloped till now.

  • Changing the table name while drill down at the dashboard query

I have a DAY fact table that has about 1B rows.
The purpose of this table is to store on hand quantity for each item per day.
On the presentation layer I have a dashboard that will display average on hand qty per year and then user can drill down to quarter/month/week and then by day level to see the actual value at evey level.
Its hard to run aggregation on fly as all my 3 TEMP tablespace 32gb each filled and then I get error can not extent TEMP file.
So I thought I will do the aggregation at the database level and store the aggregated data in another table. So at first dashborad will read this new aggregated table to display qty at yearly. As soon as user drill down to quarter the dashbord should query the actual DAY fact table by filtering for specific year and quarter.
IS it possible? Can I change the table name while I drill down to lower level?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi use,
Yes. This is possible in OBIEE. You need to use Action Links to have navigation between reports. The main idea is to have 2 analysis. One with your aggregated data by year (using your aggregated table), and another one with the rest of the hierarchy and data (using normal fact table)
You add an action link on this report, that can navigate to the second report. showing "the details" (in your case would be the rest of the time dimension).
Please refer to http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/07/obiee-11gr1-action-framework-and-conditions/ for actions links.
Another way is to create 2 analysis, then go to the 2nd analysis, and filter the column year as "Is based on results of other analysis" and you select there the first analysis. In this case when you click on the year in the first analysis, this value will be passed to the second analysis so you can filter the rest of the hierarchy based on the year you clicked on the first analysis.
    If helpful, assign points.

  • Query Drill Down without affecting the structure layout

    Hi All,
We have a query which has structure both in Rows & Columns . When we drilldown ( WAD )  the drilldown characteristics goes within the structure . What i want is even we drilldown  the sturcture layout shoud not chnage .
For example the structure is as below
                    2007   2008
    Revenue    100     200
    Cost          50       100
    Margin       50        100
say we drill down by material , then i want the layout to be like this
    Material    0001                       2007   2008
                                 Revenue    50       100
                                 Cost          25       50
                                 Margin       25       50
    Material    0002
                                 Revenue    50     100
                                 Cost          25     50
                                 Margin       25     50
    currently we are getting
                           2007   2008
    Revenue
    Material 001     50       100
    Material 002     50        100
    Cost
    Material 001      25      50
    Material 002      25      50
    Margin
    Material 001      25     50
    Material 002      25     50
We are currently in BW 3.5 version . Is there any settings in WAD or anywhere , by which the drilldown should not affect the structure layout. ( Please note i dont want to fix the drilldown in query  or swap axis during navigation to get the desired result ).
    Kind Regards
    Sudip

    Hi,
For the example shown by you, does not require 2 structure, You can doing it using One structure.
Consider the following in Rows and Columns:
    Rows:
    1. Material or other cahar and material in Free char.
    Columns:
    1. Fiscal Year
    2. Structure comprising the KFs Revenue, cost and Margin.
    Try this it should solve.

    Vishwa.

  • Rag: Query performence - Report taking long time when drill down a Char.

    Hi All,
After executing the report when we try to Drilldown PO Char, then the report used to take long time nearly 60 to 90 minutes and thorough an errors that  "An error is occurred during loading" or "Connection Timed Out".
The report is created on Multiprovider which is build on 7 infocubes and the data for the PO char is coming from all the 7 cubes.
So we have created Aggregates on the 5 Infocubes based on system proposal.
    Then,
We checked in RSRT, the data is coming from all 5 Aggregates and also when we drill down the PO also the data is coming from 5 Aggregates itself.
    But,
The report is running fine and also when we drilldown the PO to show all the PO values, then the report showing all the POu2019s details by taking nearly 15 mins only.
Here our concern is why the report is taking 15 mins when we drill a PO char.
Could any one give suggestions please.
    Thanks in Adv.

Please let me know where is the problem and give me some suggestion what we can do with this.......

Here is my VI, it's just a trial so it can look messy...

  • Drill down problem in query in BI 7

    HI all,
I m facing a problem regarding one query on customer.... in that NO. OF CUSTOMER , CUSTOMER NO., AND STATUS (1 OR 0) fields are there. depending upon "no of customer" we r giving the "status" as 1 (for non zero value of "no of customer") in place of yes and 0 for no (for zero value of "no of customer") to count total ...now when we are drilling down depending on CUSTOMER NO,  when i m trying to consider only NO OF CUSTOMER in query then it should show total in the same row for particaular yes or no. So can please ne body help me how to resolve so that i can get this problem solved.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anurag

  • Drill Down in Abap Query

    Hi experts,
i would like to ask how to create drill down in Abap Query. I would like to double click on my PO field and call transaction ME23N to display the particular PO. Please advise.
    Thanks and regards,
    Simonksh

go to sq01 and enter your query and hit change button
On this screen - from menu hit Goto and click on the report assignment
on popup click on the insert raw (Green excel kind of symbol) and then hit other report and select transaciton and enter the tcode of transaction. in you case enter ME23N or ME23.
this will open the po once you click on the report line of the PO.

  • Drill Down with Union ALL in a query

Why when i use a UNION ALL in a query or some sentences of SQL the drilldown disappears ? Does exists a special syntax ??
    A query example:
SELECT DISTINCT CASE T0.[ObjType] WHEN '13' THEN 'Factura' WHEN '203' THEN 'F. Anticipo' END AS Documento, T0.[DocNum] AS NumDocumento, T0.[DocDate] AS Fecha, T0.[NumAtCard] AS Referencia, T2.[DocNum] AS 'Ref NC',
T0.[DocTotal] AS TotalMN, T0.[DocTotalFC] AS TotalME, CASE T1.[TaxCode]
    WHEN 'A2' THEN '15'
    WHEN 'A1' THEN '10'
    WHEN 'A0' THEN '0'
    END AS '%IVA', T0.[DocRate] AS TC FROM OINV T0  INNER JOIN INV1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry  LEFT JOIN ORIN T2 ON T1.TrgetEntry =  T2.DocEntry
    UNION ALL
SELECT DISTINCT CASE T0.[ObjType] WHEN '13' THEN 'Factura' WHEN '203' THEN 'F. Anticipo' END AS Documento, T0.[DocNum] AS NumDocumento, T0.[DocDate] AS Fecha, T0.[NumAtCard] AS Referencia, T2.[DocNum] AS 'Ref NC',
T0.[DocTotal] AS TotalMN, T0.[DocTotalFC] AS TotalME, CASE T1.[TaxCode]
    WHEN 'A2' THEN '15'
    WHEN 'A1' THEN '10'
    WHEN 'A0' THEN '0'
    END AS '%IVA', T0.[DocRate] AS TC FROM ODPI T0  INNER JOIN DPI1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry  LEFT JOIN ORIN T2 ON T1.TrgetEntry =  T2.DocEntry

When you use the Union Clause you will not get the Drill Down link button.  You may try creating a view of your Query and then Create a new Query in SAP joining the View and the SAP table containing the link data to get the links.

  • Preventing drill down after query runs

I have an Order query with a hierarchy attached to the infoObject. I created select-option on the Hierarchy node with a node variable. When the query runs if we tell it to display 1 level it works as desired by showing the node name and total. The problem here is the user can then drill down on the hierarchy and we don't want that because we have three summary queries in a workbook and a grand total number at the bottom.
We like the summary number but can we turn off the drill down?
    Thanks

    Hi Marcus,
I do not know how to turn off interactive features once and for all.  But, here are a couple of ideas (implemented in a workbook).
    1. I need a certain characteristic displayed as "Key + Text".  Each time query is refreshed, I check to ensure the correct display of that characteristic.  If the characteristic is displayed correctly, OK.  If the characteristic is displayed, but not correctly, I use the OLAP command "PC02" to display it correctly.  If the characteristic is missing, I push the query all the way back to "start".  Here is code for this:
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
Dim c As Range, myCell As Range
        Set myCell = Nothing
        For Each c In resultArea.Cells
If c = "Sales Area" Then
                Set myCell = c
                Exit For
            End If
        Next c
        If myCell Is Nothing Then
            Run "sapbex.xla!SAPBEXfireCommand", "STRT", myCell
        Else
            Run "sapbex.xla!SAPBEXfireCommand", "PC02", myCell
        End If
    End Sub
    2.  This example more directly addresses the question of restricting the interactive features.  In a workbook, the "Enable Interactive Functions" checked is stored in the query repository sheet (SAPBEXqueries) in column "O".  TRUE if checked, FALSE if not checked.  You can check to see if this has been changed from FALSE to TRUE, and if it has been changed, you can take the query back to "start".  Here is the code for that:
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
    Dim bexWS As Worksheet
        Set bexWS = Sheets("SAPBEXqueries")
        numQ = bexWS.Range("A2")
        For i = 1 To numQ
            If bexWS.Range("F" & i + 3) = queryID Then
                If bexWS.Range("O" & i + 3) = True Then
                    bexWS.Range("O" & i + 3) = "FALSE"
                    Run "sapbex.xla!SAPBEXfireCommand", "STRT", resultArea
                End If
            End If
        Next i
    End Sub
