Drill down to specific topic on TOC?
Is it possible to have the Navigator display a specific topic when that topic is displayed via showTopic? In other words, I have default to docking set to true, and I call up a specific topic via showTopic. I don't want just my generic TOC displayed; I want the tree drilled down to the specific topic on the TOC.
Can I do this?

Hi Chris,
The table of contents is automatically kept in sync with the active topic window. In docked mode, if you call showTopic(), in theory the table of contents should automatically expand to the displayed topic (assuming there is a table of contents item that maps to the same topic-id or URL). Is this not what you are seeing?

Stacked Bar Navigation/Drill Down

set that as the navigate to for the column that you are using for the stage bars in your chart.
clicking the bar will navigate you over to the other request sending along values that your new request is looking for.
Be careful when asking questions about navigation versus drill. Look at your column setting to see that there are different interactions a user can have with the data. -

Multiscreen HTML 5 output in Chrome – when scrolling down very long topics in the content pane the navigation area 'moves up' , i.e cant see search field or TOC.

AnatThis is by design. If you want to change this, the content section must have a set height and scroll. Which layout are you using? -- Check out the Responsive layouts and the Social layout. I believe those have the more traditional TOC placement.

BPC drill down problem - computer specific
I recently developed several drill down reports in BPC v 7.0ms that I tested extensively and work great. However, I have one user that when they open the report and attempt to double click on the heirarchy item to drill down further into the detail, it only reveals the forumula on that line (evdes) and doesn't propmt the drill down expansions. I've also noticed that several templates that she opens don't automatically refresh like they should and they work properly for everyone else. I tried logging into her computer with my user ID and still get the same results so I know it isn't a security issue in BPC. She is using Excel 2007 and Windows XP. Does anyone know of a setting in her system that would be preventing these expansions from happening the way they should? I'm assuming its a setting somewhere either in her operating system or excel - just not familiar enough with those to know what to change or where to look. I have checked her Macros settings and they are set to low and the box to allow VB is checked. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If I drill down on a report using the crystal viewer, whilst viewing the drilldown report I have 3 possible print options.
1) File > Print ( this prints the main report )
2) A print icon we have added to our application (also prints the main report).
3) A print icon on the viewer itself ( this prints the drilldown report)
So my only question/suggestion is can you also see a print icon on the viewer header itself. If not you may need to make some alteration in the code to display this if it is a property you can change.
This isn't something I get involved in, but someone else reading this may know.

Drill Down Flash Charts dont refresh in IE
Hi Friends,
I am facing a typical issue when I have drill down charts in IE.
To mimic the scenario that I am facing in my project I have created a sample project in my workspace ntekupal with login guest/apex_demo. Run the application project Emp Dept Dashboard.
Note : Make sure you use IE to reproduce this issue
Issue Reproduction :
1) Select 'Accounting' department from the Departments bar chart by double clicking it(this is one more issue in IE which really annoys me).
2) Navigate to Employees chart and observe that the Deptno text box shows '10' with the list of employees in the bar chart for Deptno - 10.
3) Go back to previous page using breadcrumbs.
4) Select 'Research' and it would again put you back to Employees page showing employee list for Deptno - 20.
5) Now repeat step-3 and select again 'Accounting'
6) Observe that the employees shown are not for Accounting Department. It is still showing for Research but the deptno text box would show the value 10(which is correct).
7) Refresh the page then the employee bar chart would display the actual employees in Research deptmnt.
Now run the same application in Mozilla and it works perfect.
I know this could be some caching issue in IE but not sure how to fix this.
It really freaks me out and my users do not wan to use Mozilla. In my project I am using a bunch of flash charts(bar & pie).
I appreciate if I can get some of your precious inputs on this situation.

Raj.I have to, respectfully, take the opposite point of view on this topic. It is very much the applications responsibility to communicate to the browser that the page is dynamic. There are even meta tags specifically for this purpose.
That said, I concur to the true underlying concern of the above two posts that you would not want a page updating any IE global settings.
There are commonly two solutions used to solve page caching issues:
1) There are meta tags shared disparately by certain browsers to disable cacheing, set expiration dates, and similar activities. Each browser honors the settings differently, however, you can safely "stack" several versions together and there are web-sites that suggest the appropriate combination to hit the major browsers.
The tags to look for are CACHE-CONTROL, EXPIRES, REVISIT, and possibly others. Look them up under each browsers developer documentation as some variation exists in usage. The latter two are for search engines, but several of the browsers will use them in normal page hits.
That said, IE inconsistently honors these tags, even from version to version, so,
2) The end-all hack solution is to include a random value in the URL to create a unique URL on each attempt to access the page. Normally this can be achieved through a page or application item that is update on every page view and is passed on the URL line.
This solution is also commonly used because Proxy's may not honor the tag and so will continue to re-send the proxy version every time the browser requeries.
Whether this is possible in the Chart drill down I do not know as I haven't used this feature yet, but these are the two solutions you will find browsing the web against page caching.
I have invariably always had to resort to (2) to get absolutely real time data, unless I am in a corporate environment that used a standard and stable version of the browser.
Under no circumstances would I prefer to set the IE's always retrieve latest page setting, as this affects every page that IE requests.

Reporting Services Error after Interactive sorting and drill down in pps

i have a report that has a drill down option that shows all workgroups within a specific parent group and an interactive sorting ass well on both columns parent group & workgroup
This is displayed in pps combined with a SharePoint
---the problem is that after sorting the parent group column by name i then press the drill through icon (+) next to it hopping to see all workgroups related to each parent group
- but instead
i receive this Reporting Services Error :

I am unable to reproduce the issue in my test environment. How did you add the drilldown feature? Were you doing that by setting visibility of the column or of the group? Please ensure to add the drilldown functionality by set the visibility of the workgroup
from the Grouping Pane in the Report Designer.
How did you add the Interactive Sorting on the headers of the two columns? Based on the drilldown functionality, the Interactive Sorting on the second column doesn’t work. So, you can move the Interactive Sorting on the second column. When configuring the
Interactive sorting on the first column, you should set the parent group to sort, and sort by the field that the parent group groups by.

OBIEE 11g Report-When drilling down to lower level, totals are not matching

I am creating a report in Analytics 7.9.6.3 , OBIEE 11g - Let’s say Budget Cost/Actual Cost based on the Date Dimension
Have selected the Fiscal Year Dim, Fact Budget Cost, Fact Actual Cost

But here when I am drilling down from Year to Quarter and Period - The values are not matching with the totals....

Fiscal Year, Fiscal Quarter Budget Cost and Actual Cost are not returning correct results – When selecting cost's by fiscal year, or filtering on a specific fiscal year, the amount returned does not equal the fiscal year total;
when I am drilling down to Quarter and Period Level the BCost & ACosts are bumping the Numbers as above and not matching with totals
Any suggestions?Check out the query in both the times.Execute against database and try to sum the data for quarter/period and compare it with Year data.
Just try to differentiate is it a report total that is getting wrong or the data in the database table itself is getting wrong stored.

Poor performance with WebI and BW hierarchy drill-down...
Hi
We are currently implementing a large HR solution with BW as backend
and WebI and Xcelcius as frontend. As part of this we are experiencing
very poor performance when doing drill-down in WebI on a BW hierarchy.
In general we are experiencing ok performance during selection of data
and traditional WebI filtering - however when using the BW hierarchy
for navigation within WebI, response times are significantly increasing.
The general solution setup are as follows:
1) Business Content version of the personnel administration
infoprovider - 0PA_C01. The Infoprovider contains 30.000 records
2) Multiprovider to act as semantic Data Mart layer in BW.
3) Bex Query to act as Data Mart Query and metadata exchange for BOE.
All key figure restrictions and calculations are done in this Data Mart
Query.
4) Traditionel BO OLAP universe 1:1 mapped to Bex Data Mart query. No
calculations etc. are done in the universe.
5) WebI report with limited objects included in the WebI query.
As we are aware that performance is an very subjective issues we have
created several case scenarios with different dataset sizes, various
filter criteria's and modeling techniques in BW.
Furthermore we have tried to apply various traditional BW performance
tuning techniques including aggregates, physical partitioning and pre-
calculation - all without any luck (pre-calculation doesn't seem to
work at all as WebI apparently isn't using the BW OLAP cache).
In general the best result we can get is with a completely stripped WebI report without any variables etc.
and a total dataset of 1000 records transferred to WebI. Even in this scenario we can't get
each navigational step (when using drill-down on Organizational Unit
hierarchy - 0ORGUNIT) to perform faster than minimum 15-20 seconds per.

with only 1000 records in the WebI cache when using drill-down on org.
unit hierachy !!.
Running the same Bex query from Bex Analyzer with a full dataset of
30.000 records on lowest level of detail returns a threshold of 1-2
seconds pr. navigational step thus eliminating that this should be a BW
modeling issue.
As our productive scenario obviously involves a far larger dataset as
well as separate data from CATS and PT infoproviders we are very
worried if we will ever be able to utilize hierarchy drill-down from
WebI ?.
The question is as such if there are any known performance issues
related to the use of BW hierarchy drill-down from WebI and if so are
there any ways to get around them ?.
As an alternative we are currently considering changing our reporting
strategy by creating several higher aggregated reports to avoid
hierarchy navigation at all. However we still need to support specific
division and their need to navigate the WebI dataset without
limitations which makes this issue critical.

How do I create a drill down for my summary data?
I have 7 fields of summary data with all having a common link called the customer account number.
I have tried the following steps several time carefully and was unable to get my drill down to work.
Insert menu > Group and chose the customer account number as my group field
copy and paste the summary fields to the group header ( which I now have hundreds of GH1)
Right click on the details section and chose Hide.
Suppress the Group Footer
File Menu > Report options and check on Show All Headers on Drill Down.
I must be missing a step somewhere here. I end up with no summary fields showing (to drill down into), and the customer account numbers showing.

you need a group to have drill down. you can't drill down on a report footer. if you can't group by these categories then you can't have drill down.
your other option is to create an on demand subreport that you can open. i would suggest that you go through a bunch of the e-learning tutorials on crystal reports here. after that go to the online help for crystal reports and use the search tab and search for "creating an on demand subreport"
you'd need to create an on demand subreport for each total that you are showing. again, please see the elearning topics especially on subreports, grouping. and then do follow the steps on on demand subreports in the online help.

I have a simple PowerView report (Excel 2013) in which I have a hierarchy (three columns), an image column, and a Value column:
When I change the Show Levels option to "Rows - Enable Drill Down One Level at a Time", image column also hide.
I want to keep the image column displayed while drill down/up to the hierarchy.
Is it possible? If yes, then how?

According to your description, you have images at child level. Now you want to have the images displayed when have the child level items collapsed. Right?
In this scenario, when you show the data in a matrix in Power View, those images, Size ID and Prices have been added into a child group. If we enable drill down, all the items within the child group will be collapsed. We can't change it at all in Power
View.
For your requirement, we suggest you design your report using SQL Server Data Tools in Reporting Services. In Reporting Services, we can have specific columns toggled by the parent item.

Drill-Down from several Charts to Same Target

we have built a dashboard with 3 (soon to be 6) column charts and one line chart below. The colum charts represent 6 KPIs aggregated for a year for different warehouses. Each warehouse is a specific series (because we want them to have a individual colors). When the user clicks on a warehouse in one of the column charts, we want the line chart above to show the
For this purpose, we have all column charts store drill-down values to the same two cells:
- One cell stores the series name (warehouse selected)
- One cell stores the name of the clicked line chart (we use a single cell with the chart name as source for the first series of each chart. After the first series is selected as the default drill-down, this source and destination seems to be used for every series selected, which might be a bug)
Our problem is, all queries for the charts are loaded at startup. The default drill-downs for all charts are done, and we have a random chart in the drill-down destination. If the user clicks the same chart again, we do not notice this as the value of our target cell does not change. We have tried several solutions for this, but nothing is really satisfactory.
Does any of you have an idea, or a similar dashboard maybe, where the drill-down of several charts (preferably with several series per chart) is stored into a single target chart?

You cannot have drill downs from different charts to the same target.
As per your scenario you have 3 column charts with warehouses displaying their respective 3 KPI's values. I believe you would have created a series each for available warehouses. If you have selected drill down on load for all the column charts with one single target then at load all the three column charts will try to place the destination of their selected series(based on warehouse selected) to the same target.
And also as you mentioned when the user tries to select the same chart again the target doesn't change, the reason is the same as all the charts are trying to put the destination of the series in the same cell.
Instead of doing it this way, what you could do is to name the series of all column charts the same and have the series name put into one cell. Then based on this series name you can lookup the data for that warehouse and display it in the line chart.
Here again the user has to select the same warehouse in all the three column charts else it wont work.

I've been trying to get drill down reporting working in a map report I've created an can't seem to get things to behave properly. So far, I've done everything I've read in several posts, but yet drill don still isn't functional.
Here's what I've done:
- Downloaded esri file from online and imported the spatial data in my SQL Server
- Created a map report using spatial data as a source for the map. I also have a dataset based on an Analysis Services query...Sales by State. Each figure has a corresponding state abbreviation. Below is the map report. The map report takes one parameter:
Year. The report is a color analytical map. Colors vary based on sales amount and year.
Below is the map display:
I have a second report called SalesByState that takes two parameters: State and Year.
What I would like to happen is when a user clicks on a state, they are taken directly to the report that lists detail information based on the year and the state chosen in the first map report. The year isn't getting passed to the second report nor is the
state clicked on.
When I set up the Action tab in the Polygon Properties dialog, I'm not seeing the dataset values as available as a parameter. When trying to give an expression for the state parameter, I get an error:
=First(Fields!STUSPS.Value, "SQLSpatialData") saying "Unknown Collection Member".
The STUSPS field is the state abbreviation.
Not sure what I'm missing here!

Please refer to the steps below:
Subreport:
Add two datasets in the report: Spatial data, ContactState.
Add a parameter in the report named SpatialData. Please refer to the following Available Values:
Dataset: Spatial data
Value field: STUSPS
Label field: STUSPS
Add a table in the report fill with specify data.
Right click the table, select Tablix Properties.
Click Visibility in the left pane. Select “Show or hide based on an expression” option, and type following expression:
=IIF(Parameters!STUSPS.Value="ID" ,False,True)
(Note: It is use parameter’s value to control the tablix visibility.)
Main report:
Based on your map design, click the PointLayer arrow in the Map Layers dialog box, select Point Properties.
Click Action in the left pane. Select “Go to report” option.
Select the specific subreport below “Specify a report”.
Click Add, please refer to these values below:
Name: SpatialData (Subreport Parameter’s name) Value: [STUSPS]

How to create a drill down in crosstab?
Hi All,
I have created a crosstab in CRXI repoprt. Now I'm trying to create a drill down in it. The crosstab is very simple.
Data in table is as:

Columns are "SUBJECT" and Rows are "DATE" and I have taken "Max of Yield PCT" as Summation field.
Now If I click on Yeild_PCT data in crosstab, it should drill down. I have created a drill down as Another report. I have tried FormatObject>Hyperlink>"Another Report Object". Copied the yield_PCT column from source report & pasted in "Another Report Object" but it is not working.
Really appreciate any help.
Thanks in Advance.if you're trying to use drill-down in cross-tabs with report parts you need syntax that is specific to a cross-tab. please look up Report Parts in your Online Help, Index and then go to the Context Scenarios section.

If the object you copy in your source report is part of a cross-tab, the Context Report Part data context is based on the selected object embedded in the cross-tab. Crystal Reports creates the data context by tracking if the selected object in the cross-tab is a row, column, or cell. Next, the program retrieves row and column names. Then it parses the Design view data context. Finally, it generates the Context Report Part data context by adding the GridRowColumnValue function if the group in the data context formula appears in the row or column names retrieved earlier. You might see, for example, a data context such as:
