I am trying to create a drill down in Oracle Reports 9i. I was wondering how to create a drill down, or if someone had a link to a good tutorial for Oracle Reports drill downs.

Master detail view with drill down
I am trying to develop a simple app for my Ipad. This app is supposed to have a Master/details look and should behave similar to the native Mail app (2x levels of navigation and the last level updates the details view).
My problem is that I am not familiar to Apple IOS development so tend to get stuck all the time so I prefer to follow a tutorial or start with a sample project. I have searched for hours but I always either get a pure navigation drill down project without the details view or a pure master/details project with only a single level of navigation. I tried to take these projects and modify them but my knowledge sadly is very limited and I did not succeed.
So can anybody direct me to a tutorial or a sample project where a Mail like app is being built with more than 1 level of navigation ?I have a GridBagLayout panel with a jtable and some jtextfield Well, we don't know exactly what constraints you have set up to its hard to say exactly why its happening.
In general, you should create your JTextField using new JTextField(int) and I think the problem will go away.
An easier solution would also be to use different LayoutManagers to achieve the desired layout. -

Roll-Up/Drill-Down Problem with Discoverer
Hi,
I am trying to produce some summary data, but am not exactly sure how to proceed.
Specifically, I have a table containing attendance data for a number of weeks. Part of table is shown below. 1 indicates attendance and 0 indicates absense.

Each student has a number of attendance_ids, each one represents a particular subject they study.
For example:

In Discoverer, to create a percentage attendance, I add up all the columns and then divide by the number of weeks.
However, what I would really like to do, is to be able to roll this data up for summary based work and then to be able to drill down as necessary.
Looking at the Video Store Tutorial, Stores were rolled up into Cities and Regionsc, can anyone give me some pointers on how I could roll up my data?

Try looking up hierarchies in the Administrator Guide.
However, I'm afraid you'll have to pivot your attendance table in order to create a hierarchy.
Example:
Now:
att_id week_1 week_2 week_3 ...

Needed for hierarchy:
att_id week_nr att_boolean

Look up "pivoting scenarios" in the data warehousing guide (OTN documentation) on how to do this (preferably a view on the original table, if necessary materialized view).
Then add additional time columns (or, better yet, create a time hierarchy table) with appropriate date hierarchy values, ie quarter and year. A weekbased hierarchy is tricky though, because weeks can "break" from one month/quarter/year to the other. So, figure this out carefully before you start creating you're time hierarchy.

In your number 4, P156_DEPTNO, you say is an item...
but is an item hidden??? And if so then is a sql
query??That's an item defined on the detail report that your link will jump to. You have to define that detail report first, including creating an item on that page that you'll use to pass the parameter. You also have to edit your detail report's query to use that item.
Check out the example code for a Master-Detail report in the 2-Day Developer Tutorial, including moving your mouse over the link from the master edit button to see the syntax. The chart is doing the same thing.

Drill-down report with variable link criteria
I have a report in which the rows displayed will depend on criteria chosen in a prior report. However, there will be more than one row selection report that the detail report can be called from. For example: Choose a salesman from a list box, display orders for that salesman; choose two dates, display orders between those dates.
So the requirement doesn't fit neatly into drill-down example in the tutorial, in which the detail report is tied to a particular value entered in the master report. Rather, I need the underlying query to have something like "WHERE <criteria>". What's the best way to handle the passing of <criteria> within and between the various reports?

AndyI'm not sure you've understood the question. It is the rows I want to differ, not the columns.
When Report 1 is called from Report 101 I want it to "SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE salesman = <selected-salesman>".
When Report 1 is called from Report 102 I want it to "SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE the_date BETWEEN (<date-range>)".
and so on for potentially three or four selection methods.
It's the WHERE criteria I need to pass, not the column expressions.

Reporting Services Error after Interactive sorting and drill down in pps
Hi
i have a report that has a drill down option that shows all workgroups within a specific parent group and an interactive sorting ass well on both columns parent group & workgroup
This is displayed in pps combined with a SharePoint
---the problem is that after sorting the parent group column by name i then press the drill through icon (+) next to it hopping to see all workgroups related to each parent group
- but instead
i receive this Reporting Services Error :
The value for parameter 'SortItem' is not specified. It is either missing from the function call, or it is set to null. (rsMissingParameter) Get

If I don't press the sorting and just drill through it works fine. the sorting itself also works fine.

I am unable to reproduce the issue in my test environment. How did you add the drilldown feature? Were you doing that by setting visibility of the column or of the group? Please ensure to add the drilldown functionality by set the visibility of the workgroup
from the Grouping Pane in the Report Designer.
How did you add the Interactive Sorting on the headers of the two columns? Based on the drilldown functionality, the Interactive Sorting on the second column doesn’t work. So, you can move the Interactive Sorting on the second column. When configuring the
Interactive sorting on the first column, you should set the parent group to sort, and sort by the field that the parent group groups by.

from this i can able to get the drill down from label based menu to 2nd stacked column chart but i couldn't able to done the same from 1st stacked coumn chart.

Follow below steps in sequence.
1. Please execute CJE2.
2. Double Click on report 12KST1A. Message will come "You are changing an SAP delivery object". Press the tick mark.
3. On Output Type tab, you must have clicked on radio button "Graphical Report Output". Please change the radio button classical drilldown and check "Available on Selection Screen" at the buttom.
4. Save it.
Check your report again and you will have an option there.

I have a report generated on a multiprovider. I run the query to generate the web report on that multiprovider. My problem is If i want to drill down to document level, the data are not tallying before and after drill down.
What are the possible remedies for this ? Hope for an quick reply,

You could try the Analysis Process Designer for the same, that might give you a better picture of your joins.
Also the reason your data might not tally could be because of incorrect joins.

Drill down on all values of a row from bex universe
Hi
We had developed BO universe on bex query, and as in web i the whole row will come as a single object.
so when we drill on the row the drill is not performing on the whole row rather its happenig on a single value of the row
Ex:- if we have rows named as US, china, America, Japan, Gross sales, invoice etc
when wen i drill on any row for lets say US, and i drilled on currecy type the drill is happening only us from the row.
But we need this drill on whole values of the row,
if aware of bex analyser, we need the same drill down future as in bex.
Any help in this regards is appreciable.

Is there any report for Trial Balance or P&L/ Balance Sheet report where vendor wise drill down of amounts is possible?
Please suggest.

You can use F.08 for Trail Balance and Vendor details - S_ALR_87012082 - Vendor Balances in Local Currency
You can get cumulative balance for the vendor.
