Drill hierarchy missing?

Hi,
I created hierarchies in my universe.
Lets say Hier1 : Product--> Product Line --> Business Unit
Hier2: Dept
I created a report using these objects.
When I select Drill mode option, I am able to drill down the report by using these hierachies.
If I right click on a object, I can see Drill down by --> Hier1 , Hier2
When I drill down by Hier 2 and if see the Drill down by options I can see only Hier1.
When I edit the report at that point, I can see both drill down by options.
Did anyone face similar problem?

The problem is that normally only errors, which are escalated due to messages from external customers, are normally documented in the ReadMe files of the service packs. The idea behind my suggestion is that you should try the newest version of the software to see if the problem persists and if it does you should contact the SAP support.
I checked the related ReadMe file and could not find an correction that matches 100% your case. There are couple of corrections regarding drilling in WebI though, like the following one:
ADAPT01077180 FixPack4.2
Description:
When the user tries to drill down specific columns in a Web Intelligence report, incorrect results are generated.
Another option is to install FixPack 4.8 (Would go for the latest 4.x FixPack not just FixPack 4.2).
If you need an official confirmation, you have to issue a message to SAP support.

PS: Had some similar problems in the WebI Editor on BO XI 3.1. In my case it works fine on the viewer though.

BPC 7.0 drill down missing values

Hi,
in our reports when we drill down trought a dimension,
we have missing rows.
For exemple:
LEVEL 1 - TOTAL 100
LEVEL 2A - TOTAL 80
LEVEL 2B - TOTAL 5
we have LEVEL 2C missing with TOTAL 15
the reason seems to be that there is another dimension named "2C" which has nothing to do with this hierarchy.
If we only secodn level we have:
LEVEL 2A - TOTAL 80
LEVEL 2B - TOTAL 5
MATERIAL_LEVEL 2C - TOTAL 15
BPC is putting a prefix to "2C" because "2C" is also a customer...
is it possible?

Please create a customer message from the SAP Service Marketplace and report this potential bug with drill-down. As mentioned when a dimension member is not unique BPC will prefix the member with dimension name and I suspect this is causing the issue when related to drill-down.

Essbase import - Accounts Hierarchy missing

Hi all,
well I have a weird one: I'm importing Essbase 9.3.1. cubes into 10.1.3.3.2. and 10.1.3.4. and can't get the "Accounts" hierarchy to be represented correctly in the physical layer.
Normally, Essbase dimensions of type "Accounts" are to be represented as hierarchy objects in OBI EE upon import. I looked at Oracles demo DB (Oracle2go) plus Marks example ([http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/rittman-essbase.html]) and Venkat ([http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/05/12/oracle-bi-ee-1013332-hyperion-essbase-connectivity-handling-measures-and-account-dimension/], [http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/05/08/hyperion-data-integration-management-931-loading-data-into-essbase-cubes-using-type1]) state the same.
What happens here is, that all the measures arrive flat after the import and I end up with my dimensions and hundreds of measures as physical columns.
As mentioned, I tried both 10.1.3.3.2. and 10.1.3.4. for the imports. Plus, I imported several different cubes, all containing Accounts dimensions. Everytime with the same results.
Anyone has got any thoughts on that?

Did you ever manage to solve this problem? I'm on the verge of starting on a similar initiative and from the info I gathered, it seems that this is as easy as just changing the dimension type of the "Account" dimension to "Other" on the cube itself within the Administrator - and define one of your other dimensions as a "Measures" dimension. I did a quick test and it seems to do the trick - maybe I'm missing something.

Drill - Hierarchy

We are currently migrating from BO 5.1.4 to BO XIR for Web. I have to build again complexe reports with Drill functions. The hierarchy defined in my universe does not seem to be taken into account on my report. I want to Drill on 4 or 5 different criteria in cascade on a report containing 4 queries. The cascade is not working (I want to select a Business Unit, see the product Lines of the BU, Product category within a product line....etc). It was working fine in BO 5.1.4. In Webi the screen has a very long refresh time .. Did some experience problems with drill on Webi documents?

Try importing the universe from the XI box, add one random object to the Hierarchy. Export the universe back. Check if it works fine now. If yes, import the universe again; delete the extra / new object and export the universe back. It should work fine.
If not, now im[port the universe again. Save this univers with different name, create new connection and export this new universe. Now repoint the reports to this new universe and check if this helps.

BI Services - Drill Method Missing

Hi
When i publish a WebI Report block as a BI service, am not getting the 'Drill' method where as am able to see the 'GetReortBlock' method.But i remember when itried it before i was able to get both the methods. Not sure what am missing here now. Any suggestion , Please?
Is there any best practices should we follow for the same?

The BI service does not work the same as the QaaWS. It is not as nice as QaaWS is when it comes to mapping the data from your rows and columns
Basically the BI Service contains data in the table and headers sections and you need to map the data to Excel via the cell object under each heading.
Therefore, to map a vertical table of 3 columns by 10 rows into Excel cells A1:C11 you would map the cell object under headers -> row -> cell to A1:C1 for the table headings and then map table -> row -> cell to A2:C11 for the the table values.
This will give you a table of data that is similar to the object the BI Service was created from in Webi.

Power View Drill Up Missing

I have Power View that contains multiple charts in one view. They all have drill down options. When I drill down through one of the charts, sometimes the drill up, filter, and expand buttons go away. When they do, it's from all the charts. I can't seem to
get them to come back. I end up having to close the document and reopening it back up. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening?

Hi,
According to your description, you used drill up/drill down in Power View report. When you drill down to the detail chart, sometimes the drill up, filter and expand buttons disappear. You need to close the report and reopen it to come back to the main report.
When we click down arrow to drill down to the next hierarchy, the drill up, filter and expand buttons will be displayed at top right of the report. We can come back to the main report by click the up arrow in the top right corner of the visualization. If
you could not view up arrow, please click the chart to see if it is visible.

Hierarchy missing in COMM_HIERARCHY

Dear experts,
We are on SRM 7/ECC6 and I have done all middleware settings as per note 720819. There are no errors. R3AM1 shows everything in green.
However the product categories under COMM_HIERARCHY have been transferred as flat structure instead of a hierarchial structure.
Please suggest on what could be the issue?

Query - Invoices posted yesterday excluding weekends. Drill arrows missing.

I have a working query that returns all AR Invoices posted Yesterday excluding weekends.
There are however no drill down yellow arrows in the result for DocNum. Is there a way I can restructure my query so the drill own arrows appear?

EIS Drill through reports should be disabled at #MISSING data cell

Hi,
I have working on Oracle Essbase Integration server(EIS) 11.1.1.3. I have developed the 2 drill-through reports.
Every thing is working fine. Using smart view, users are able to access the drill-through report.
As an another requirement, if there is no data(#MISSING) for any member combination in Essbase, Drill through report should not be enabled for this combination in smartview at retrieve.
How can I handle this requirement? In OLAP Intersection levels, only dimensions’slevel/generation can be specified.
Please help me on this. It is very urgent for us. Quick help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Gary,
I think its the latter. I've been asked on more thant one project to code things that prevent users from doing things that otherwise wouldn't make sense to do. Within the last year I was actually asked to configure things "as if I was providing functionality for 2 ^nd^ graders". At least, based on experience, this is how I relate to the OP's request.
I agree, its absolutely silly (and frustrating ) that users would try to drill through on a #missing cell and not see anything. What's worse, depending on where the drill through goes, and how its set up, users might drill on #Missing and actually see data! Yikes! Now in an experiential sense, the users can expect to see data where data ought not be.
So sometimes its just easier to just remove the button altogether than to have to explain when and why it can be used, and why when it's not used that way it did what it did. And users being part of the driver behind project requirements, don't want to hear "because you're not supposed to".
Hopefully the OP will clarify and we can provide what s/he's looking for.

Hierarchy loading Error in Production system

Hi All,
I am loading Hierarchy file, the file is there in application server(AL11), in external tab i gave same path. but when i try to load it is showing below Error message.
Invalid entry, hierarchy 0XMK4PVWO05BM4GP5KVEFQ9L4 does not exist.
Diagnosis
Hierarchy 0XMK4PVWO05BM4GP5KVEFQ9L4 does not exist.
Procedure
If the underlying InfoObject supports hierarchies create the hierarchy and try again.
If hierarchies are not supported, select another InfoSource or change the definition of the InfoObject.
That means Hierarchy file problem (OR) In Info package I selected Hierarchy selection problem?
Kidnly help on this issue.

Is this only happening in your production system? Have you tried loading the hierarchy file to your development or acceptance system?
I've seen this error occur when the authorizations are not set up for loading hierarchies (i.e. maybe they can only be loaded via process chains under the remote ID used for process chains, and not using your own ID). That's why I was suggesting you try to load the same file to your dev and acc systems and see if you get the same error. Sometimes this error is thrown for other reasons and does not really have to do with the file being loaded or the hierarchy missing.
Also, if you're loading from the App Server, double-check that you have the Application Server radio button selected on the tab where you select the file path.

Passing values of the column in the last level of a dimension hierarchy.

My report has two colums
Column1 (Dimension has a hierarchy)
Columns2 (Fact with an Aggregation Rule)
I want to use the drill down facility in column 1 and pass the value in the last level of the hierarchy to navigate to another report. Can someone help me on this?
[Note: The above is possible when the column that is on the last level of the drill hierarchy is in the main report]

I am currently able to store all the necessary symbols in an array. But, How do I query for multiple symbols in the SQL Query ?
I have an array symArr[] which consists of all the symbols I need to query from the database. So, How should I write the SQL Query is my question.
I could have created a string which looks something like this from the symArr[] array:
XOM,AA,BAC,BB,BBC,....
But, the problem would be when I try to query these symbols in the php data service using "SELECT * FROM TABLENAME WHERE SYMBOL IN (?)"
where the variable $symbol is the populated string (XOM,AA,BAC,BB,BBC,.... ). So, to rephrase my question, Could I use SELECT * FROM TABLENAME WHERE SYMBOL IN (?) to query for Multiple symbols or is there a better approach.

Questions regarding drill

Hi there,
In webi, how can I know the current drill level (object name)?
Say, I have a report with drill hierarchy of year/quarter/month/week/day. And I need to link this report to another one and pass the current drill level. How can I know it's on year or quarter or month or week or day? DrillFilters() won't work if users use context menu/drill by to drill from year directly to month.
The env is BOE XI 3.1 SP3.

Hi,
If you use Drillfilters(), no matter you Drill by / Drill down, you will get the drill filters. Ofcourse if you skip levels while drilling, you cannot show them.
It all depends on what parameters you want to pass to your detail report.
What are the parameters for your detail report.

Hyperlinks with drill option

Dear All,
My customer had a requirement, drill and hyperlink should be worked in a same report.
Ex: Let's say report
Drill hierarchy is State->City->Store
State Revenue
MH       10000000
PB        30000000
TN         50000000
KA         45000000
When he drilled down to store, user should see store profit report which is cross tab report.
I'm followed method created a new conditional format rule put a formula If(DrillFilters()="";1;0) in display format kept hyperlink on Store block.
It is not working when i'm drilling down to store level but its working when i'm drilling up to State.
Any help would be appreciated.

DB: Oracle 11g
OS: Win 2008

WebIntelligence report on top of bex Query in BI4.0 (SP2)

Dear experts,
I'm working on webi report on top of bex Query in BI4.0 (SP2). I would like to know your opinions about some points I have noticed.
A - I need to drill throught a hierarchy which contains several millions of members.
Is there a possibility in my report drilling down to one member without selecting all members of the hierarchy in the query panel ?
B - I cannot put a dimension with hierarchy both in the result pane and in the filter pane, although it is possible for any other dimension without hierarchy.
Is there any special trick to achieve this or is a bug??
C - I cannot sort variables defined in my bex query, but they don't appear in the window to sort prompts.
Do you know how to solve this issue ?
D - I noticed all keys and description of dimensions appear with the same label "key" and "text". SO it is very confusing for the user to understand what key or text means (if a key if the customer key or the company code key).
Any idea to have a more explicit label for BW characteristics?

I do not have access to a BW system to test this, but i have something on three of your questions...
A) drilling without getting all the lower members. I would look to query drill, this means a drill action in the report will go to the database to fetch the level (and only for the selected member, a drill down).
The only thing I'm not sure about is if the BEx hierarchy is seen as drill hierarchy by that option too.
If you'd ask me it really should.
C) this is an old problem, but I know it is bugging more people, because the same is true for universe based prompts. They also cannot be 'arranged'. Since the Bex query is the 'universe', ordering that has been set in the 'universe' is the only chance you have.
Like with the universe you could use prefixes to separate them from the query defined prompts (based on an alphabetic sort of the prompt message). I'd say this is a good one for the idea place...
D) also an old (very old actually) problem. Some will want to keep the text short and simple. The prefixing will tell which key it is. Some will prefer unique names, so no prefix is needed. The same was true for universe designers. Now since there is no universe, if you do not agree with the 'designer' you're out of luck no way to change it.

Computation based on the drilling of a time hierarchy

I have a cube with two dimensions A, B and two measures C, D.
B is a date and I have values for each day of year.
I have a classic time hierarchy Year->Quarter->Month->Day for B and A has also some other hierarchy.
The report shows A, B where the user can drill down using the hierarchies and a computation.
The computation that I must do is: the value of C at the beggining of the period plus the sum of D in the period.
My problem is how to get the C at the beggining of the period since I do not know at runtime how far in the time hierarchy the user has drilled down.
When I know the grouping I can do something like
SUM(CASE WHEN B.day = B.Calendar Year Start Date THEN C ELSE 0 END)
or
SUM(CASE WHEN B.day = B.Calendar Month Start Date THEN C ELSE 0 END)
to calculate the value of C at the beginning of the period but i do not!
I cannot use the RANK function because it needs a PARTITION BY and I do not know how far to partition... year? month? day ?
Example data
A B C D
a 1/1/2008 5 6
a 2/1/2008 4 12
a 3/1/2008 8 4
a 1/2/2008 11 1
b 1/1/2008 2 7
b 2/1/2008 7 2
b 1/2/2008 12 31
So, if the user selects Year I sould get as result
a 2008 5 + sum(D in 2008 for a) (where 5 is the value of C for a at 1/1/2008 for a)
b 2008 2 + sum(D in 2008 for b)
If the user drills down to Month I should get
a 01/2008 5 + sum(D in 01/2008 for a) (where 5 is the value of C for a at 1/1/2008)
a 02/2008 11 + sum(D in 02/2008 for a) (where 11 is the value of C for a at 1/2/2008)
b 01/2008 2 + sum(D in 01/2008 for b) (where 2 is the value of C for a at 1/1/2008)
b 01/2008 12 + sum(D in 02/2008 for b) (where 12 is the value of C for a at 1/2/2008)
I just started building reports with Discoverer so I might be missing something. Please help!

Thank you for the information about this. I now have a chart that displays based on a value the user enters into a text box.
It looks like I have to delete a chart and then add it again, this time with the WHERE clause I would like to use. For some reason or other I have had difficulty modifying an existing chart in this way.
