Drill In cross tab.

I am using Crystal report 2011 on top of BW. All the report contain cross tabs.I have some requirement from my client side they want to drill through cross tab. I know there is no any direct option available there, but i have to do this job for my client, Can any one help me how it is possible?

I have a dashboard which collects data via Live Office from a series of Webi documents and Crystal Reports. I have found that if I create a report that has for instance sales regions down the left and months across the top using a cross tab in either Crystal Reports or as a Webi the data will only refresh within the current month, so for instance if I create the report in October the sales figure for October will update happily until the last day of the month but on the first of November no sales figures will show in the new month and I have to manually refresh the report in Xcelsius and issue a new Dashboard to my users. This makes me wonder whether Cross Tab reports are actually supported via Live Office. If I use formulas in Crystal Reports and manually build a report that looks like this but uses formulas it works fine, but is obviously a much slower process than simply building a Webi cross tab.

Hi Rob,
You can bind cross tab reports from your WebI reports into Xcelsius using an integration tool called[ Xcelsius Web Intelligence Intregration Suite|http://www.antivia.com/products-xcelsius.stm].
This will give you the full functionality of Web Intelligence inside an Xcelsius dashboard- drill-down, cross tabs, even an ad hoc query panel, all bound into the Xcelsius interface.
This would remove the need to use QaaWs or Live Office, so you can probably realize some performance gains and handle larger data volumes.

is it possible to drill down in a cross tab?
is it possible to include a subreport in a cross tab?

thanks for the suggestion sjain ... but I've seen ppl here on the forums saying that it doesn't work in cross tab...So I'm not sure if that can be done but I'll try .

Drill down in cross tab report.

Is it possible to have drill down in a cross tab report. e.g. in first view the main groups are the rows and when clicked on the main group the same design but with sub groups as the rows get visible as a drill down.
If it is possible then which version of crystal report supports this and how can I achieve it.
I currently have crystal reports that comes with visual studio 2008.

Drill down on cross tab report

I would like to know whether it is possible to drill down through groups in a cross tab report.

go to your online help in crystal reports and in the index section, look up "report part navigation".
read through the sections on report parts and go through each section (using the right arrow at the bottom left of the help page) until you hit the section that is titled "context Report Part option scenarios".

I have a challange!!!!!!
I have created a crosstab report showing a list of wards acroos the columns and a list of days for each row. The data is the number of patients on each by day. The customer would wish to click on the number of patients on Ward 15 on the 15 Sep 08 and see a drill down (or sub report on demand) of a list of patient names on the ward.
Any ideas?

A drill down on a part of a cross tab can not be done.
However there is a workaround for your requirement: For example my data is: column for cross tab is Countryname, row is region name and the summarized value is last year's sales.
1. Create a group on country on main report.
2. Insert a subreport in the detailed section.
3. Insert cross tab with region as column and last year's sales in summarized value.
4. Link the subreport for country with main report.
Now you would be able to drill down for the group of records for a particular country through this subreport and that also in a cross tab.

Drill down of manual cross tab reports with Multi variable subreports

I tried to make a subreport by setting the hyperlink on the group sum of a manual crosstab (http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=1219) by setting Hyperlink to another report object.
The documentation said I should copy and paste the name of the report object in the sub report over into the field in the primary report. As I don' t really know what a report object is this failed. Further I found some code in a sample report to deal with subreports that have multiple parameters. The code was unbelievable; it couldn't be right. So, how do I link my subreports to my reports by passing two parameters to the subreports that represent the row and column label of a given sum.
Further what are the fields in the hyperlink another report object from for:
Select from: //do they want a query here?
Report title: //The don't let you type in this
Object Name: //This seems elective
Data Context:// No clue on this either

Thanks for the reply. I looked through those samples and other samples. The two cross tab samples I could find were CtossTab and Inventory CrossTab. Neither has a hyperlink to a sub report and I believe those were actual cross tabs, not manual crosstabs. When I scoured the web for an answer, all I could find was what was linked. This is going 20 pages deep on google.
Crystal crosstabs are 98% better than the excel power pivot or pivot table. However, with Excel, you can drill down to the details automatically. With crosstabs you can't. I was hoping to replicate this by making each summary in the manual cross tab a hyperlink to a sub report that filters the details based on the row and column just as excel does. There is no sample for this.

Error formatting Cross-Tab table

Hello!
My CR2008 reports include many cross-tab tables and till now, everything went smoothly.
...till I got the message "Error formatting Cross-Tab table" while viewing the print preview.
Technically the error comes up while clicking one of the groups itemized on the left.
The database hasn't changed. Besides it happened with two different reports associated with two different data bases.
Any idea ?
Any help would be appreciated as I've been lost for a while.

Before I received your answer (thanks a million by the way), I have been installing/un-installing subreports in the main report 'til the 'Error formatting Cross-Tab table' stops.
The Error stopped occurring when I added a small Group Footer in the subreport : apparently the Error had begun when I had put it to a zero-height.
Having said that, an hour later and many changes here and there, I have just put a zero-height again and no Error anymore...

Within 'an hour later and many changes here and there', I did the opposite : I widened a subreport which did not fit in the main report. And the Error isn't raised anymore.

You mean if I double-click the subreport to edit it ?
If that is your question, no Error has ever been raised in the subreport : always in the Preview tab of the Main Report.
Sorry for describing such an irrational behavior.
I will categorize my question as answered but if you have any idea, I'd be delighted : I feel like this can happen again and I'd be less under stress to know what detail/ 'parameter' makes CR raise this Error. But your hint about the subreport fitting or not within the main report might be a clue.

Cross Tab display problem in viewer.

I am having a problem with the CrystalReportViewer in Visual Studio 2005. I have a report which contains a cross tab object that has the upper column labels rotated 90 degrees so that the column widths remain small. When I view the report in the web viewer in VS 2005, the column labels are all horizontal and unreadable because they run into each other across the top of the cross tab. Why won't the labels render in a 90 degree fashion?
When you print the document from the viewer it shows the labels at 90 degrees. Is this a bug in the report viewer?

Hi Guys the report is working fine with cross tab . Its giving the above error when ever I click the Drill to link which takes to the another detail report.

Cross Tab Formatting a summarized field

Hi All,
I have a field that is summerized in my crosstab. However, I want to be able to take that number and format it in HH:MM:SS and am having difficulty accomplishing this. In my drill down reports I was able to do this with ease. Could someone help me out in this regard?

You should be able to create a formula, something like this
and then add the formula to the cross tab

This example, is grouped by RowDate by day, and converts the seconds (Auxtime2) to
HH:MM:SS

Filter Cross Tab

I filter the data and produce a report, chart and cross tab. Now what I want to do is add a second cross tab, this one in the report footer. This second cross tab needs to be based upon a subset of the report's data. I tried adding a formula to the Section Expert>Report Footer>Suppress (No Drill down). Tried several different methods but the cross tab either shows all the data or none.
Is this the correct method?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I should have added that if I put the following in the Detail formula of the Section expert:
{SurveyAnswers.SelectionAnswer}="Strongly Agree" OR {SurveyAnswers.SelectionAnswer}="Agree" OR {SurveyAnswers.SelectionAnswer}="NEUTRAL"
The the 3 above answers are excluded from the detail and I get the info I want the footer cross tab to be based upon. Putting the same filter formula in the report footer and running the cross tab returns all the (unfilterded) data.
There must be a way to do this but I'm stumped.
Again, suggestions are appreciated.

Hi,
Using XI and win XP.
I have been using excel to get the info I need, but thought it must be possible to do it right in the cross tab. I need two different cross tabs, and do not know how to do the following.
The fields I have in the dataset include:
- product.type (different products and one field "product.type = 'customer' that is the customers)
- product.balance (balance of each product for each customer)
- formula for age segmentation
What I need to input into the cross tab is to have the segmentation across the top, products for the rows and as the summary:
1) penetration rate (i.e. count of product types divided by # of customers which is product.type = customer)
2) $ per customer (product balance divided by customers)
3) $ per product (product balance divided by # of products)
Help would be awesome. I have no idea how to do this in Crystal
To date, I have set up a cross tab with segment across top, products down the rows, and as a summary using count products and sum of balances. I would input this into excel and do the calculations.

Suppressing levels in cross tab.

I have a project requirenment for one of the client and currently using CR 2008 for creating dynamic reports based on a finance database for profitabilty Analysis. I have been using lot of Web-Elements functionality in my crystal application and its going good to an extent, the only issue i have been experiencing is the dynamic change of the cross tab data based on prompts.
Its a 4 level application where in users are prompted to select a specific level outta the 4 levels, they can select either few or all. Now, the issue is, in my cross tab i have mentioned all the 4 levels in my row field and the data is displayed according to the users selection through prompts, it works fine. But however if user does not select level 3 or 4 or any one of them then the specific cross tab row is displayed empty. I have tried selecting the option suppress empty rows under customize tab but that doesnt seem to work.
I want only those levels to be displayed which are selected by users and suppress the rest, the empty rows in cross tab looks kinda odd to see. I am unable to figure out the formula string for the same.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

Cross tab is nothing but a tabular representation of data.
It displays zero values only when there is no data for the combination of corresponding row and column.
We can not suppress this however we can display some string like "No data for this" or something else as per requirement.
For this, do the below:
- Right click on the summary value field on the cross tab -> Format Field.
- Under Common Tab, click on X-2 for Display string. This would open the formula editor.
- Put the below formula there:
if IsNull(summary database field) then "No data for here"
else "" & currentfieldvalue;
You can change the display string as per requirement.

"Can Grow" property on Cross-Tab object can not be unlock

I am using Crystal Reports XI. My report uses a Cross-Tab object via SQL server. I am having problem making my data column (Field Row) to increase dynamically in height when my data size increases. Since the "Can Grow" property in the Format Editor is locked, it would not let me set the "Can Grow" to true to enable this function. How do I unlock the "Can Grow" function so I can set it to true?

The only other option I can think of would be to build a virtual cross tab, but in many cases, especially when the number of 'column' values is dynamic, this is not possible.

I need to develop a cross tab format in RTF using template builder. Can we get this in matrix report using the standard wizard given in template builder or else it should be done manual. If it can be done through wizard can u please explain the process.
And one more think what is the latest version of template builder available. In few cases its given as pivot table and in few its given as cross tab. I confused by that.
This seems to be basic doubt, but please guide me.

I am developing cross tab report with group in BI Publisher(i.e matrix with group above report in report builder).
My req.is

regions(level1 columns) and d1,d2,d3(level2 columns) are data depenent on XML data.
d1,d2 d3 may change in number based on data.Also we have page break on country.
We could able to achieve in report builder but in Bi Publisher we are unable to achieve the same.
Wizard in BI Publisher gives only one level of measure(region) only.
Currently we are using BI Publisher template builder version 10.1.3.2.1
Need help in this regard ASAP.
