Drill Through on a Union Report

Hi All,
I have a report which is a union of similar requests . So the final report is a Code with amount ( the code name is derived from the union of 2 columns from 2 different tables). I am tryinbg to give a drill through on the amount to a detail report. Is there anyway i can pass the Code name to the detail report since its a union report.
Thanks

Hi,
Drill through is not possible on the Union reports. To achieve the drill through functionality you have to create the logical column in the BMM layer and use the logical column in the presentation instead of making a union in the presentation. If you use the logical column from the BMM layer you can use the drill through function.

  • Can I create an action link(drill through) to a Union report

    hello experts,
Through my summary report I have created an action link to the detail report. My summary report is coming from one subject area; but my detail report is a union of 4 different subject areas. When I click on my action link to do to the detail report it gives me the whole repor, I am supposed to see just one line and not the whole detail report. Basically if click on order number 123, I should go to that particular order # specifically and not the whole report. Is this b'se of the union or something else?
I have set all my columns in both reports to "is prompted" I am still facing the same problem..
    any idea
    thx

  • Drill through reports not working

    Hi All,
I am trying the drill through functionality in a report which is pretty straight forward, I am using a parent report and in it I am using one of the text boxes to drill down to another report by passing its parameter to the child report, Both the parent
and the child report are in the same project only. But I am getting an issue while clicking on the text box in the parent report to drill down to the child report saying
"An Error occurred during local report processing
    Error in the application
Could not find the file <Child File Location>" (Verified the Child file location which is in fact correct)
Please help me out guys !!
    Thanks,
    Prakazz

    Hi ImPrakazz,
According to the error message, I think the child file may has been deleted while the cache file of the child file has not been deleted.
Based on my thought, I test the issue and cannot produce it completely. In my test, I design a drillthough report, and the parent report and child report are located in the same project. When I delete the child file, the parent report can run while there
is an error which shows "Could not find the child file". If I only deploy the parent report to report server, it will show the error which looks like "ReportItem cannot be found".
In this case, you can check whether the child file exists on the corresoding path. If the issue persists, please post the details, for example: report in Native mode or sharepoint mode, the edition of SQL Server Reporting Sevices and so on.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Hyperlink in Drill-Through on BPC 7.5 M

We used to have a hyperlink in our drill-through requests.
Before migrating to BPC 7.5 MS from BPC 5.1, these links worked perfectly.
Now, the result in the web browser and Excel is displayed as text instead of the link
    What can cause this problem?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Fredrik,
Are you saying that you open refresh a report, then perform a Drill Through, the results of the drill through appear different?
Does the Drill through open an HTML report or another Excel sheet?
If its the latter, then maybe there is a problem with Hyperlinks in the Excel sheet.
    Thanks,

  • Essbase Studio & Drill-through

    Hello All,
Can I still create a drill-through report in Essbase Studio & update a previously built [by EPMA] Essbase cube? Please consider this urgent...
    Thanks,
    Cheryl

    Cheryl,
One of the draw backs right now of using EPMA to load Essbase cubes is that any changes that are made to your Essbase cube in EAS, etc. post a EPMA Essbase Cube deployment will be overwritten and vice-versa. EPMA is best for working with HFM and Planning right now and is not best suited for Essbase deployment right now even though it can handle simple Essbase cube deployment. If you cannot do what you need with EPMA alone then you will need to deploy using Essbase Studio, EIS, or EAS.
However, other options would be to utilize partitioning or something similar to get the drill-through capability from another "Reporting" cube. That would be the immediate solution I believe.

  • EIS - Drill through columns

Hello, <BR>your help is appreciated! <BR>What is the difference between the columns assigned as Drill through in the OLAP model and the Drill Through columns in the report? I am asking this question because I learnt that we cannot mention Fact table dimension columns as Drill through, however we can use those columns in the reports. <BR>Also I am able to use the certain columns in the reports though i am not mentioning them as Drill through in the model, why is that? <BR>Thanks <BR>

We ran into this problem a while ago. It seems that after 10 columns, formatting get really odd. We submited it as a bug a number of months ago.Glenn S.Narratus [email protected]

    Hi Glenn,
We tried optimizing the drill through SQL query but actually when we run the directly in TOAD it takes *23 secs* but when we do drill through on the same intersection
it took more than 25 mins. Following is our query structure :
    (SELECT *
    FROM "Table A" cp_594
    INNER JOIN "Table B" cp_595 ON (cp_594.key = cp_595.key)
WHERE (Upper(cp_595.*"Dim1"*) in (select Upper(CHILD) from (SELECT * FROM DIM_TABLE_1 where CUBE = 'ALL') WHERE CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF = 1 START WITH PARENT = $$Dim1$$ CONNECT BY PRIOR CHILD = PARENT UNION ALL select Upper(CHILD) from DIM_TABLE_1 where CUBE = 'ALL' AND REPLACE('GL_'||CHILD, 'GL_IC_', 'IC_') = $$Dim1$$))
And ----same for 5 more dimensions
Can you suggest some improvement ? Please advice.

  • Drill Through reports takes too long

    Hi all,
I need some suggestions/help with our drill through reports. We are using Hyperion 11.1.1.3 and the cube is ASO.
We have drill through reports set up in Essbase studio for drilling down from Essbase to Oracle database. It takes too long (like 30 mins for fetching 1000 records) and the query is simple.
What are the changes that we can do to bring down this time. Please advice.
    Thanks.

  • Error on the reports with drill-through links on SSRS 2012 SP2 -- Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long

Hi, We are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2. (PS. SSRS 2012 SP2 has been applied.) Everything went smooth expect some reports which were using reporting services. These reports have some drilin-through actions and was passing in a huge
xml parameter. I referred to some other posts in which there were also some similar issues like "The Uri string is too long."  but they're different. My reports can be opened and the error only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions.
As I know, Microsoft has provided the fix for the known issue "The Uri string is too long." in sp1 but it looks it can't cover this kind of situation since I have installed the SSRS SP 2. Is there any solution? In addition, there's no such
    issue on SSRS 2008 R2.
    Thanks,
    onizga

    Hi onizga,
According to your description that you are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2, after migration you got some error like “The Uri string is too long” which only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions, right?
Usually, the issue can be caused when you try to pass some parameters that cause the URL length to exceed 65,520 characters for a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services (SSRS 2012), you cannot render the report, and you may receive the following error
    message:
The value of parameter 'param' is not valid. (rsInvalidParameter).Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long.
This is an known issue and already have the hotfix SQL Server 2012 Service Pack1 Cumulative Update 9 (CU9) as you know, you can try to reinstall this hotfix to fixed this issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2916827 .Any issue after applying the update, please post it on the following thread or you can submit an feedback:

    Similar threads for your reference:

  • Creating a Detail Table Based on an Action in Another Table or Matrix to Display in the Same Report (Not a Drill-Through)

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible have a matrix which shows total credits by month and have drill-down groupings to display the invoice numbers for each credit.  Then, once the drill-down is expanded for a particular month, be able to click on the invoice
number and have another table under the matrix display the details of the invoice.
I don't really want a drill-through because that opens a different report in the window, what I want to be able to do is stay on the main report.  I also don't want to drill-into the invoice details from the matrix as that expands the matrix out and
makes it unruly and ugly.  I've been playing with subreports but not able to get what I want out of it.
I hope this makes sense - is there a way to do this in SSRS?
    Thanks!!

    Hi AvenueStuart,
After testing the issue in my environment, we can refer to the steps below to work around the issue:
Create a new table with the details of the invoice under the matrix.
Add a parameter named invoice which get available values from the invoice field in the dataset.
Right-click the [Sum(invoice)] cell to add an action with “Go to report” option, and specify the same report with the parameter below:
    Name: invoice
    Value: [invoice]
Right-click the table to add a filter in the table:
    Expression: [invoice]
    Operator: =
    Value: [@invoice]
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.

  • How to increase number of rows displayed in Essbase drill-through report?

    Hi
By default, the maximum number of rows per Essbase drill-through report (via Integration Services) is set to 1000. Could anyone tell me how to change this limit please?
    Regards
    Chandra

Is this for an EIS drill through report that drills through to get RDBMS data, using spreadsheet add-in for example? If so check and see if "Maximum rows per query" in EIS is currently set at 1000 and try to increase it. (I don't recall hitting a 1000 limit in the past, perhaps your report is set at that? or if this is through Web Analysis maybe WA is governing it)
To set/change a query governor in EIS:
1     In the Drill-Through Reports dialog box, select a report name.
2     Click Edit to open the Report properties dialog box.
3     In the Report properties dialog box, select the Governors tab.
4     In the Maximum time per query (in seconds) text box, enter the maximum query time.
For example, to stop a query that takes longer than 100 seconds, type 100.
5     In the Maximum rows per query text box, enter the maximum number of rows to retrieve.
For example, to stop a query that retrieves more than 200 rows, type 200.
    6     Click OK.

  • In Drill through report pass hyperlink value as parameter to another report using ssrs 2008 R2

    Hi All,
I have one drill through SSRS report in which if I click one hyperlink in the summmary report it should be passed as parameter for detail report, like this....
    Summary:
    AccountType
    A1
    A2
If I click A1 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A1 data in detail report
If I click A2 then that should be passed as parameter to detail report and display A2 data in detail report.
Please give me some ideas or expression code to achieve this in using SSRS 2008R2. Its very urgent.

Thanks the folowing is my source data for the parameter I am including to the drill through
    SELECT DISTINCT
    case
    when EA_STATUS in ('E4', 'U4', 'P5', '02', '03', '04','B2','B3','B4','12')
    then CAST('Project' AS VARCHAR(15))
    else CAST('Non-Project' AS VARCHAR(15))
    end as EA_PROJECT_GROUP_DESC
    FROM TEAMS.FMPROD_V_EA
As you can see it has only 2 values. So how do you suggest I wirte the expression to include in the report.
The name of the parameter I will be using is EAProjectGroup.but below is the error I am getting trying to run the report
rsMissingFieldInDataSet] The dataset Trends contains a definition for the Field EA_PROJECT_GROUP_DESC. This field is missing from the returned result set from the data source.
[rsErrorReadingDataSetField] The dataset Trends contains a definition for the Field EA_PROJECT_GROUP_DESC. The data extension returned an error during reading the field. There is no data for the field at position 45.

what does the position 45 mean?

I am getting this following error when I drill through a report and the OFA application freezes. I hope this is problem with the OFA installation.

    Hi,
If it's not the universe limits, then I think you've hit the "MDX result contains too many cells" (more than 1million) problem.
So, I suspect a long running query, no filters/variable restrictions, and You've probably got a dump in ST22.
I don't know what BW you have, but if it is BW 7, do you have Enhancement Pack 01 and SP05<->10  ?
You should check out all the latest corrections from component BW-BEX-OT-MDX
the final proof of the pudding would be to enable MDA / SOFA log , capture the MDX SELECT statement and test it in BW MDXTEST - i bet you get the same error there.
