Drill up in Crystal Report

I have a Crystal report in which we have used hyperlink say the report gets drill down from level1 to level10
i can able to drill down till last level.....
But how can i drill up, ie going to previous level
i have not used univerese for designing this report
this report runs based on a SQL Query written with DB as SQL-server-2005
Thanks in advance
-Ganesh

Hi Jamie,
Went over the blog, was informative..........but i guess my scenario is different
Its a query driven Crystal report, in which i will have to drill down/up by org structure
i have placed a hyperlink on top of a specific column,which will call the same report again and again on clicking the column value.........this will go till the last level..........
back button in browser will not be enabled.........
So i have added a text to the left top of the report
the text will have a different hyperlink, which will call the same report for parent-Key instead of Current-key
not sure whether this is a right way, but this is what i could able to think in a short notice.....
Please suggest
Thanks,
Ganesh Jegannathan

  • Drill Down in crystal report

    Dear Members,
    I have designed a report in which there are 3 groups namely Customer Name,Invoice No and Items.
    I need to display the report in a way that.
    If i drill down say in customer Name it should list all the customer Name along with invoice No.
    If i drill down further for a customer say solns1 it should list the invoices for that customer,
    If i now drill down say invoice No then item details should be displayed .
    I want all of these to display in a same page.Is this possible?
    Any suggestions would be of great help.
    Customer Name say Solns1,Solns2,Solns3
          + Solns1
             +InvoiceNo
                +Items
           + Solns2
                +InvoiceNo
                    +Items
           + Solns3
    Thanks And Regards,
    Venkatesh.R

    One of the 3rd-party Crystal Report viewers listed at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html provides that functionality (but it requires you add some formulas to the report to enable that behavior).
    You can see a video demonstration at: [In-Place Drill Down|http://www.milletsoftware.com/Download/DLV_InPlace_DrillDown.wmv]

  • Drill Down in Crystal Reports

    Gurus,
           I am trying to add drill down to my Crystal Report, I know this can be achieved by using Hyperlink but the button for drill down is disabled. How can I enable this achieve the drill down function. Please find attach file for your convince.
    Faisal Baloch

    Hi Faisal........
    Please check the below explanation.......
    The Report Part Drilldown option
    The Report Part Drilldown option lets you define a hyperlink so that the Report Part Viewer can emulate the drill-down functionality of Crystal Reports. The Report Part Viewer displays only destination objects; therefore, to make drill down work, you need to define a navigation path from a home object to one or more destination objects. When you have multiple destination objects, they must all reside in the same report section.
    The Report Part Drilldown option does not affect the DHTML page viewers since the option emulates the default Crystal Reports behavior for drill down (which the page viewers already support). Page viewers, however, do not limit which objects are displayed—they always show all report objects.
    Note: Use the Report Part Drilldown option only to navigate between objects in the same report.
    Because the Report Part Viewer shows only destination objects, you must define Initial Report Part Settings (that is, a default home object) for a report before your Report Part Drilldown hyperlinks can work. A report's Initial Report Part Settings define the object that appears first in the Report Part Viewer. Think of this object as the place you'll begin your path of drill-down hyperlinks from.
    To define Initial Report Part Settings
    Open the report whose default home object you want to define.
    Right-click the object you want to set as the default home object and select Copy from its shortcut menu.
    On the File menu, click Report Options.
    In the Initial Report Part Settings area of the Report Options dialog box, click Paste Link.
    The program pastes the name and data context of the report object you selected as your home object into the appropriate fields.
    Tip: For more information about data contexts, see Data context formats.
    Include another object from the same section of the report by entering a semi-colon (;) and typing the name of the object.
    Click OK.
    To create a Report Part Drilldown hyperlink
    Note: Before you begin this procedure, be sure to read Setting up navigation to acquaint yourself with the limitations of creating this type of hyperlink.
    Open a report and select the intended destination object; then click the Format button on the Expert Tools toolbar.
    Tip: You can also do this by selecting Format Field from the Format menu.
    In the Format Editor, click the Hyperlink tab.
    In the DHTML Viewer Only area, select Report Part Drilldown.
    The "Hyperlink information" area changes to show the fields available for this type of hyperlink.
    The Available Fields area shows only the sections and report objects you can select for drill down. In general, these objects include field objects, charts, maps, bitmaps, cross-tabs, and text objects contained in the next section down (that is, for example, objects in group two when the object you selected is in group one).
    Note: The Available Fields area does not show suppressed report objects.
    In the Available Fields area, select the section or report object(s) you want to use as your drill down destination.
    Tip: Use the Report Explorer to quickly identify the default names assigned to each of your report objects. To open the Report Explorer, click its button on the Standard toolbar.
    You can add all the objects in a section by selecting the section node. If you expand the section node, you can select one or more of the objects that it contains.
    Use the arrow buttons to move the selected section or object(s) to the Fields to Display area.
    For ease of identification, the program creates a section node in the Fields to Display area. This node contains the objects that you selected in the Available Fields area.
    If you want to add another object to the Fields to Display area, select it in the Available Fields list and drag it into position.
    Note:
    The position an object has in the Fields to Display area determines how it appears in the Report Part Viewer; top to bottom in the Fields to Display area equates to left to right in the viewer. Use the arrows above the Fields to Display area to change the order of objects. (Note that a programmer can alter this default behavior through the PreserveLayout property of the Report Part Viewer.)
    The Fields to Display area can contain only one section at a time. If you try to add a second section or an object from a second section, it replaces any existing section in the Fields to Display area.
    Click OK.
    You have established a hyperlink from your report's home object to a destination object or objects. In the Report Part Viewer, you will see the home object first, and when you click it for drill down, you will see the destination object(s).

    Rahul

  • How to Jump (Drill-through) between WebI query (also in Crystal Report)

    Hi BO experts,
    I read that we can achieve drill-down in Crystal Report and WebI.
    But I have requirements here to jump (like RRI or Report to Report Interface) in BEx Analyzer and to pass some values (as parameter), i need to achieve:
    1. jump between WebI queries (in WebI)
    2. jump between Crystal Report reports (in Crystal Report)
    3. jump from Crystal Report to WebI
    I read that in WebI, jump can be achieved by just opening the URL of the receiver query, but we can't pass on certain values as parameter from the sender query to the receiver query (which is possible in RRI case).
    Has anyone ever done it before? Please let me know how to achieve it..
    Thank you very much.

    You can navigate beween report using Report Linking. This can be achieved through an Opendocument functionality.
    Using Opendocument, you can call a webi report from a parent webi report and then pass parameter's as well. Wigooglth the same feature you can invoke a crystal report also from a webi report and pass values.
    In crystal report also you can use Opendocument. However there are better features like sub-reports to do this.
    You can google for opendocument or search in SDN to get detailed documentation of OpenDocument.

  • How to use drill down option in Crystal Report

    Dear all,
            I want to know how to use drill down option in Crystal report 2008.  In below i have explained my screnario
    For example
       My scenario is.  In crystal report I have Purchase order like PO101,PO102.  Each purchase order have 5 line items.  If i drill down each purchase order it should display line item in crystal report.
    Regards,
    Baskaran.

    hi,
    Create a Group on 'Purchase order'.
    Group Expert -> Select the Purchase Order and Click the arrow button such that it appears right side. Click ok.
    GH1 is inserted.
    Your detail section should include 'Line items' fields.
    Right Click 'Detail' section on left hand side,  Click 'Hide (Drill down Ok)'.
    Now you will see only 'Purchase order's in Group Headers.
    Now when you click on a particular order, you will see respective line items.

  • Drill Down Report using Crystal reports in eclipse and jspviewer

    Hi
    I want to understand how to write a drill down report since I have a requirement for my project, so I tried to run the sample drill down.rpt that is available with Crystal Reports 2008 Complete Reference book by George Peck.
    I can see the results correctly( i.e. can drill down) in the preview tab . Since I am working inside the eclipse, the way I run the reports is first  "Create report viewer JSP" by right clicking the report and have a url mapping to this jsp. I am running the reports from a hyperlink that maps to the url which will launch the jsp.
    the jsp is:-
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" %><%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer" %><crviewer:viewer reportSourceType="reportingComponent" viewerName="Drill Down-viewer" reportSourceVar="Drill Down" isOwnPage="true" allowDrillDown="true">
         <crviewer:report reportName="reports/Drill Down.rpt" />
    </crviewer:viewer>
    The one that was created by  "Create report viewer JSP" did not had "allowDrillDown" attribute at all .But I added it since it isnt working.
    So when I launch my web app and click on the link to run the report, I get the report results but only to the summary level. When I double click the summary level I get a 404 error page.
    Can please anyone suggest what is going on.
    Thanks
    poonam

    Ok. So, you added the report to the project. Now we have to add the CR assemblies to the project, add the viewer (if need be) and fire it off. Simplest code would be:
    Public Sub New()
            ' This call is required by the designer.
            InitializeComponent()
            ' Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call.
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = ("path to report")
        End Sub
    In this case you are using the viewer SDK to runt he report. The report will prompt for any logon parameters - but you can code these also. You can load the report via the engine as bellow. Again, the report will prompt. I prefer to use the engine as it is way more "extensible"...
    Public Sub New()
            ' This call is required by the designer.
            InitializeComponent()
            ' Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call.
            Dim crReportDocument As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
            crReportDocument.Load("path to report")
            'Bind the report to the viewer
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crReportDocument
        End Sub
    If you have a report added to the project (strongly typed) the code would be:
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = New myReport()
    For more details, I'd recommend looking at the sample app vbnet_win_simplepreviewreport.zip available from the following location:

  • Drill down arrow in Crystal Report

    Hi,
    I've created a crystal report based on a SQL statement that brings some information about service calls.
    I would like to include a drill down arrow for service call ID.
    I found this as being the link: 'http://$b1$/link?table=OCRD&key='+{OCRD.CardCode} but not sure how to change for what I need. I don't have any tables since I am using a command. Should I bring OSCL table? How do i have to chance it for CallID? I get an error message saying "A string is required".
    Thank you for your help!
    Cristina

    Hi Neetu,
    I don't get any error message so thanks for this.  I don't have OSCL table, I only have a command based on sql query containing the fields I want. When I replace OSCL with the command name it opens a web page "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" with http://$b1$/link?table=Command&key=6159 address. So it's recognising callID.  Do I need to bring OSCL table and link it to my command and use OSCL in the link?
    Thank you!

  • Drill down expand and collapse feature not available  Crystal Reports Desig

    Hi,
    Am I right in my understanding that drill down feature opens in a new tab and it cannot be made expand and collapse even using JRC.
    Please advise & thank you
    Selvi

    Hi Slevi,
    You are right with the understanding of the Drill down function. To have a drill down function available the minimum requirement is have at least a single group in the report.
    When we have a group with some underlying data and then when we would like to see data for a particular group, we can see a u201Cmagnifying glassu201D symbol which indicates that there is data for this group and we can use the Drill down function.
    When you drill on a particular group, the data for that group is shown in a new tab.
    I hope this provides some information about the Drill down function used in Crystal Reports.
    Regards,
    Prashant Saduwale.

  • Drill-down options on exported Crystal reports (PDF/HTML)

    Is it possible to drill-down on the exported crystal reports in PDF/HTML format?

    PDF format does not support drill-down.
    PDF format supports bookmarking to specific locations in the document, but not something refined as drilling.
    Sincerely,

  • Crystal report reverts back to saved data after drill down

    Hi,
        I've created a crystal report and published it to BOE. Whenever I open the report and refresh it, it fetches recent data without any problem. But when I drill down in the report, it shows the saved data instead of showing the recent data in the drill down. If I come back to original report from that drill down again it reverts back to saved data. Again I've to refresh the report to view the recent data.
    Any idea how can I fix this?
    Regards,
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjay,
    Please do post this question in the BusinessObjects Enterprise thread BI Platform
    The peoplt there would be the best people to answer your query.
    Hope this helps.

  • Issue with use of shared variables in Crystal Reports 2008 Offline Viewer

    Hi,
    I have a report that contains a number of sub-reports which include drill-down functionality. The report returns data relating to an individual team with the user being able to view top level summary information in each area from the parent report and then drill into the sub-reports to view see more detail. The data returned by the sub-reports is filtered, using sub-report links, based on the team code parameter value given by the user. This parameter field resides in the main report.
    One of the values returned by the main report is the team name. This is passed to each sub-report using a shared variable and each sub-report displays this team name as part of a heading.
    This all works fine in Crystal Reports 2008, but when a report, containing data, is opened using Crystal 2008 Offline Viewer there is a problem with the shared variable. The value is displayed correctly when the user initially drills into the sub-report. However, when the user begins to drill into grouped data within the sub-report the value passed to the sub-report using the shared variable disappears.
    How can I ensure that, when a report is viewed using Crystal Offline Viewer 2008, the value within the shared variable is not lost when users drill into grouped data within sub-reports
    Thanks
    Stuart
