DrillDown:Is it possible using Discoverer?

Hi All,
I have a requirement in which, if there are so many results on a page, and all are links.And, clicking on a link gives related information about that link, in which it may have other links, which can again be clicked to get more information, and so on.
I came to know that it is not possible to achieve this kind of functionality using Discoverer.
Can anybody tell me that if it is possible or not and if it is possible than how to achieve this.
Plz provide me some help,if some links are available , then it will be very useful.

Yes is it possible in a couple of ways. By the way you're talking more like drill through or across than drilldown, drilldown is like year, month, day... or Suite, Product, Subproduct. Whereas you want more like Master, Detail via a link right?
- You can create a column that contains a URL (type "FILE" in EUL) that goes to another workbook/worksheet.
- You can drill to related item (standard functionality)
- You can drill to Component Rows (standard functionality)

Spatial queries using Discoverer 3i

We are looking for a web reporting tool for an Oracle 8i Spatial database. Spatial queries are very important to us. Would it make sense and would it be possible to use Oracle Discoverer 3i? This product does not seem to talk the language of a 'spatial user'.

Presumably, it would currently be possible to use Discoverer on database views with fixed spatial where-clauses. Is that right? If so, would it currently also be possible to have a parameterised spatial where-clause, allowing a user for instance to define the spatial view for his particular region. Does Discoverer somehow allow for this?

Hi Sandy.
I believe it's possible, depending on the version you want to use.
If you plan to use Discoverer web based versions (Plus and/or Viewer), then You'll need OracleAS.
There's more than one way to have discoverer with non-oracle databases, so, read this...

Let me take each question in turn.
1. Do we have a standard discoverer EUL similar to the one which we get for Oracle EBS for Seibel? I guess not but still worth asking. The answer, as you suspected, is no. There is no standard EUL against Siebel, although to build one would not be that difficult to someone experienced in doing so. I have built EULs against several databases that don't already have EULs. All I need is someone to show me the existing tool's metadata and and I can take it from there.
2. Is any one aware if Discoverer can directly leverage the Business rules set in Seibel without having to set up new business areas/EUL? Once again the answer is no. Disoverer is not able to read the business rules inside Siebel. This would have to be done manually.
3. Since the above 2 options are unlikely, is it possible to expose discoverer using the Seibel portal. Kind of like the SSO we can use with Oracle EBS or Oracle Portal. Again, sorry. The only portal that Discoverer can be exposed onto direct is the Oracle Portal using Discoverer portlets. This is set to change later in the year when Discoverer 11g and OBI EE 11g are out because then Discoverer's portlets will be more open source with even an interface to Interactive Dashboards. In the meanwhile, the best you could do would be to export Discoverer content to HTML or maybe to CSV format and display that on the Siebel portal.
In order to migrate Siebel metadata into a Discoverer EUL you need two skills. You need someone who understands the Siebel metadata layer, at least the presentation layer, and someone who is expert at putting together a Discoverer EUL. You may well have the first skills yourself or know someone in your company that does. There are several people on this forum who are expert in Discoverer, myself included.

Using Discoverer as part of a larger application

The project I am working on is looking to use Discoverer as an End User Query tool within a large application. What we would like to be able to do is to utilize a single logon for the user. This would mean that we would somehow have to be able to programmatically bypass the Discoverer signin screen. We already know the user id/password and do not want to have the user to sign in a second time. Is this possible?

In order to use discoverer from your application you need t use Discoverer COM'S objects that are registered in the Windows registry.

We need to know how we can find out the Employee ID, Responsibility, Org... who used discoverer during a specific period in the past ? For example the last year.

I'm not sure You can get the responsibilities or the org that was used in that specific run but as for getting when it was run and by whom...

Oracle discoverer ver 9.0.2.39.02 - Error While using discoverer plus

I have installed oracle 9i discoverer ver 9.0.2.39.02 and while tyring to use Discoverer Plus (http://ip:port/discoverer/plus)
I get error when creaating a workbook using workbook wizard, if i go thru the steps 1 to 10 It just does'nt do anything when i click Finish. At the same time
If i click Finish on the Table layout screen immediately after selecting the items it generates the worksheet
what could be the reason for me unable to generate the worksheet.
Create / edit Business Privilege is granted to the user.

But Desktop is not the product that you reported the error on, you said that Plus was giving you the problem.
Desktop generally has far fewer issues that Plus because it is a client-based tool and I would expect it to work fine in Desktop.
Have you ever had 9.0.2 Plus working as you describe or have you recently installed it? Either way, I strongly recommend upgrading your Discoverer Plus to the version in my previous reply.
By the way, I think you will find that most people rapidly got off 9.0.2 as soon as 9.0.4 came out which was 10g Release 1. If you look on my blog: http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/ you will see a couple of surveys that were conducted earlier this year. The top one indicates that only 4% of Discoverer sites are using 9.0.2. Of those I would suggest most will be on the 54 release which really was quite stable.
You will fnd it really hard to get help if you stay on the 39 release because there are so few folks around who have it installed.

Is RDC integration with Lotus notes apps possible using CR XI and lotus 8

We have reporting feature implemented in one of lotus notes application using crystal reports 6 (OCX) and as Crystal report is going to be upgraded to CR XI version in my organisation, we need to implement the same using RDC component.
Background (on how it has been implemented using CR 6 ) :-
i) Lotusscript generate few CSV file and pick a .RPT file from profile doc and places it under one folder on local machin (say x).
ii) RPT file is designed to pick data from CSV file using system DSN (data source).
iii) Data source (system DSN) has been configured with folder (x) that contains CSV and RPT file .
iv) Crystal report control object has been embedded in the lotus notes form and lotusscript code gets handle of control object and opens the report (RPT)file .
We have set up all neccesary environment and trying to implement above functionality using RDC component but when we are embedding the crstal report report viewer in a lotus notes form , it throws an error "An error has occured while processing a request on an object".
Please let me know if it possible using RDC or can anyone suggest me some other alternatives .

You should be able to use the RDC in Lotus Notes. There are significant differences between the object model for the old OCX (crystl32.ocx) compared to the Report Designer Component (RDC) and it's components, the craxdrt.dll, crviewer.dll, etc.
I was able to find an older document that shows how to integrate CR9 into Lotus Notes: "[Using the Report Designer Component (RDC) in Lotus Notes|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/50ce64b3-241f-2b10-b792-9685d3815a21]". You can use this as a starting point to compare with your code.
The RDC object model hasn't changed much since CR9, but some of the runtime component references in the document may need to be correct (e.g. craxdrt.dll for v11.x vs craxdrt9.dll for v9.x).
It is worth noting that the RDC has been retired with the release of CR2008. CR XIR2 (v11.5) is the last version of Crystal Reports that uses the RDC. The suggested migration path is to move to the Crystal Reports .NET SDK. This means you'll have no upgrade path with a v11.x application.

i am working with a zbapi.
i called a external email program in this bapi,everything is working fine over here.
In webdynpro java they mapped my bapi and starting working from there.
every functionality is working fine but regarding this email stuff it is showing an error as access not possible using null objects reference.
where could be the possible error.
is it in webdynpro or in abap side.

You are right. When it comes from the WD Java, may be you are not passing any value at all. You can trace it by these ways.
1. Check it using SE37, make sure everyhting is fine.
2. Print all the values that you are passing to the RFC in the execute RFC method().
3. using ST05 transaction in R/3, enable RFC and SQL trace, check what is passing in between web dynpro and R/3.

There are 3rd-party tools (see comprehensive list at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html) that provide extra pdf functionality on top of the pdf export from Crystal.
In the case of my Visual CUT software, you can use hidden formulas inside your Crystal report to generate form fields (pre-populated as well as empty) as part of the pdf export process.

Using Discoverer 4i to view data on SQL Server

We have Discoverer 4i set up to work with Oracle 9i. Now our Discoverer users want to use Discoverer to view data that is in SQL Severer. We don't want to rebuild data in SQL Server into 9i. What can we set up so 4i can view and maybe update data that is in SQL Severer. Thank you.

C++: Is it possible using callback function with ncacn_http and rpcproxy server ?

I have a remote procedure and I can call it using http over rpc. I pass trough an rpc proxy server for arriving to my rpc server.
But I cannot call a callback function to my client inside the server function.
Is it possible using callback function with ncacn_http and rpcproxy server ?
We are using IIS on windows server 2008 R2 and the server rpc and the client on the same PC with rpc rpoxy.
If I use ncan_ip_tcp all works fine.

To visualize the report created using Discoverer Plus in Web

I had created the report usingOracleBI Discoverer Plus Version 10.1.2.45.46c & able to visualize the report in OracleBI Discoverer Viewer Version 10.1.2.45.46c.
URL fo accessing the report is as:
http://machinename1:7777/discoverer/viewer
If i try to connect to from another machine (machine2) as
http://machinename1:7777/discoverer/viewer
i'm unable to connect & i get the error page can not be displayed.
Is it necessary to have the URL only with domain name as
http://machinename.domainname:portno/discoverer/viewer
I had already installed OWB, Oracle BI etc. If i had to create a domain then i have install all these & need to work from scratch.
Is there any way to access the report across the internet or web.
Plz do provide a solution for this issue.

Yes it is possible need to check action and execute with schedule condition when pack post GR.
check action and there process and method in this tcode and copy and use when create ID from IDN.

this action with execute when IDN converts to ID and it will check line item is packed in HU. If yes then post GR.
