Drive and Walk 90 day licence

can anyone advise? whilst trying to familiarise myself with N96 I accidentally clicked on the licence for the drive and walk whilst in maps! I could not exit, however, I have not accepted terms and conditions, although it still appears in "my licences" does this mean I have subscribed? How do i get out of it as I do not require this service?

Hi hils
When it's says "go online" at start you can always say no for now. In Nokia Maps application go to Options > Tools > Settings > Internet > and scroll to "Default access point"

On the phone, activating the one month subscription of the drive and walk feature costs 80 something Sterling Pounds, and the published price on the site for the same one month (Egypt) is only 8.99 Euros. Could somebody tell me what to do to get it for the website price?? and why is the difference?

If you are using Nokia Maps V2, try deleting the "Cities" Folder, run Nokia Maps once and then reloading the map data. This will rule out any corruption of the map data.

Yes. All external drives regardless of how they are connected must be ejected before they can be unplugged.

  • HT1751 if i back up my itunes library to an external hard drive and then add subsequent music and want to back that up a few days later, can i backup the only newly added music without backing up the entire library again?

    hello,
if i back up my itunes library to an external hard drive and then add subsequent music and want to back up the newly added music a few days later, can i do it without backing up the entire library again? or do i need to back up the entire library each and every time i back up to the external hard drive?

Just copy Users/yourusername/Music/iTunes (containing your library-files) to your external drive as well as that (extaernal) folder that contains all your audio-tracks.

I have had my iMac for 55 days now and twice I had to power off/on and then It does not power up correctly.  I verified my disk and found errors that could not be repaired (errors were associated with boot drive)  I erased the drive and restored system back to the previous day.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Since it's a new machine, contact Apple's Support and let them deal with it. Allen's already recommended an Apple repair station visit. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for an onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located).  BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.

"One of the benefits of Match, right?  Saving hard drive space."
I would not use iTunes Match as a backup. There are too many bugs and I don't think that's what they intended it to be anyway. The main advantage of using it is to make your music available on OTHER devices, not to replace the music on your original computer.

Fonts are handled by your operating system and installed through the respective System Control panel (Windows) or Fontbook (Mac). On Windows simply type "Fonts" in the search bar in the start menu and when you open the panel/ folder use File --> Add Font. On Mac the procedures are similar, you just need to find the Fontbook app in Applications:Utilities.

    What should I do?

The first thing you should do is re-write your post to make it a bit more understandable. I got you have an Epson printer connected to your PC, however after that  your post doesn't make any sense. Are you attempting to print from your iMac, if so then you need to download and install Bonjour for Windows on your Windows machine. Then set Windows so it has printer sharing turned on and then on the iMac simply follow Apple's instructions for adding a printer.

My iPhone overheats. Battery drops from 100/90% to 10% sudenly. Got the device 20 days ago. I'm currently living in The Hague, there is no Apple Store in this city, took an appointment in Amsterdam, after 3 hours drive and 60€ travel cost got into the Apple Store, 73 minutes delay on my appointment the Genius  tech tells me I should leave my device for further checks in the store and come back in a week or two. Not presicely the answer I was looking for, plus he did not have any device to lend me until my iPhone was checked. Quite dissapointed, Apple was standard for quality on customer satisfaction, in the last 10 years I bought 3 MacBooks, 5 iPdas, 7 iPods, 5 iPhones and 2 iMACs... please don't let me down. Dear Ocean, one is a complaint about the quality of the device.
The second about the quality on response from Customer Service.
No worries, I'll delete both post since it seems that won't bring anything productive.

  • Hi, I want to format my hard drive and reinstall my PC. How can I transfer my Acrobat Standard licence ? Regards.

    Hi,
I want to format my hard drive and reinstall my PC. How can I transfer my Acrobat Standard licence ?
    Regards.

First you should deactivate any Adobe programs you have installed so that you free up the activation for when you want to reinstall.  When you are ready to reinstall, do so using the installation files - transferring generally does not work.
Before you do anything you might want to check to make sure you have access to installation files for reinstalling the program(s).

  • Help - moved itunes folders to external drive and now my itunes is totally

A few months ago, in order to free up space on my c drive, i had to purchase an external drive - everything i installed via itunes since that date has been on the hard drive and everything was fine.
Last night i needed more room on my C drive so i stupidly moved the remaining itunes folders from my C drive to my F drive - unfortunately, when i opened itunes it was blank.
i've tried a few things - including adding the folder from the F drive - and that retrieved about 80% of my music/videos and the last playlists i had - however, they were all missing songs - even if all the songs that should be included remained on my itunes
i began the tedious process of manually adding files back in but soon realized this doesn't help itunes consider this the same ipod as what's still on my actual ipod.
*What I'd like to do (if possible) is to wipe itunes clean and somehow restore everything on my ipod into itunes so that i retrieve not only the songs and videos but also the playlists that i've spent way too much time building. At this point i fear that the various components to my ipod are in too many files on my external drive to be easily restored another way (though if i'm wrong please let me know)*
sadly (as this story might suggest) I am borderline computer illiterate - I've read a few posts suggesting some sort of software online (something the apple help line also made an "off the record" remark about) - but I can't for the life of me figure out which i would use or how to do this without risking the contents of my existing ipod (which has the playlists and songs/video I want to reestablish).
*Can anyone possibly suggest how to best handle this and walk me through it in painstakingly basic and specific detail? I would be forever grateful.*
    Thanks

iTunes uses the iTunes Library files - in particular the iTunes Library.itl file - to keep track of where your song files are located as well as playlist and related information.
Most likely in moving your folders around iTunes has been confused to such an extent that it created a new Library file. With a bit of luck you might still be able to find the old file which would restore your old Library.
So the first thing you want to do is look around your computer and make a note of any iTunes Library.itl files you can find. Generally speaking you'll find them in the iTunes folders on your system and depending on how you've been moving the folders - i.e. whether you "cut" them or "copied" them - you may still find at least one one on your F: drive and some on your C: drive.
Having noted where they are you know want to check each of them out as described in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base. In following those instructions you want to select the Choose Library option and use the pop-up window that appears to zero in on the various .itl files you've located.
Remember that each Library file will show a different Library in iTunes - perhaps slightly different, perhaps completely different - and if the first one isn't what you're looking for you'll have to close iTunes and repeat the procedure by selecting one of the other .itl's.
    Post back for any clarification.

  • 500GB drives and backing up

I will be buying a Mac Pro in the very near future, as I'm after a machine that has plenty of upgrade potential (and I get a pretty good Apple Store discount with my employer).
I have a lot of audio files, large aiff files for audio production and around 150GB of mp3 files. After doing some reading here, it seems my best option is to have the stock 160GB drive from Apple, remove it, and install a 3rd party 500GB from day one. Now, in terms of backing up my files, I'm a bit unsure of how to go about it. Should I get a second 500GB drive purely to back up the first drive? Would this be achieved through RAID? And how exactly would the RAID configuration work in this case? Being honest, I've never had any experience with RAID, but if it's suitable for my needs (or not), I would appreciate anyone who can steer me in the right direction.
    Thank you.

    Hi bos bos!
    And Welcome to Apple Discussions!
No need to apologise here some are just a bit high on life
If I was you this is what I'll do (which I'm thinking of probably doing):
    1. Get the stock 250GB you don't get much credit downgrading - and use it as your boot drive. If you however decide that you want another powerful or silent drive then you can upgrade in the future. Check this thread: Western Digital Raptor and Tiger concerning Boot drives and some serious great advice!
    2. Get an external 250GB FW HD (FW 800 would be great but expensive) and use that to clone/back up you Boot Drive via SuperDuper weekly or when you like. You can also backup to internal 250GB Hard drive. Usually clone your drive before upgrading or installing firmware or security installs, etc.
    3. If your going to run windows, buy another internal drive for it. So its seperate
    4. Buy a larger drive eg. 500GB and use it for data, move your home folder to it eg. documents, itunes, movies, etc. Thus if something goes wrong with Tiger you can just reclone it back without affecting your personal data. Get another FW 800 External drive and backup that drive to it. Maybe some synching program as well that only updates the changes made daily or every 6 hours or so. And backup to DVD always and store off-site.
    5. Forget RAID, if you do not know what it is you do not need it. Hey I'm still trying to understand it but I do not need it! But from what I understand it is used mostly for backup purposes by combing 2 or more drives together where people need large amounts of hard drive space. Some people will (and you will notice them here in the Mac Pro thread) use RAID as Boot Drive. But notice they are high end users and know the risks. Also note that you cannot update or install apple firmware in Tiger if your running RAID.
These days External HD are really cheap (but do get quality ones) especially FW400 and USB2. I was considering buying three drives something like 250GB and use them as a 3 day concurrent backup - eg. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then rotate use Monday for Thursday and so on. Then I've got 3 days of backup so if something goes wrong I can always go back to it.
If you have a basement/garage anywhere its reasonable to store a PC and have used PCs before what you can do is buy yourself a cheap ATX Cabnet (sells around £20) get a cheap motherboard, RAM, Gigabit Network Card and stock it with 4x250GB internal HDs and share over the network. Obviously do not connect it to the internet and keep it on its own subnet. Its surprisingly easy to configure this and it'll cost you the same amount of a 3-400GB external drive maybe even less.
Instant Storage. Use PC's what they were built for - basement/garage trash that no one needs to see

  • My 2009 MacBook Pro keeps restarting even after I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled OSX.

About a month ago, my laptop started to randomly turn off: I would be using either Chrome, Photoshop (the free CS2 version available from Adobe's website) or Powerpoint, and the screen would go blank. I would then have to hold the power button for a while until the little light at the front of the computer would flicker and it would restart. I brought it to the Mac Store where they tested it and said it looked fine. They suggested I erase my hard drive and reinstall OSX as a precaution.
Fast forward a month, I have been very busy with work and hadn't been able to fix this problem. It wasn't that bad, only once every couple of days, sometimes more, sometimes less, I could work despite this problem.
Then, I installed OSX Mavericks. The installation started in the morning, but, like an idiot, I paused it to go to work. Later on, I completed the installation, it looked fine, but then all day long my laptop would suddenly restart and go to a grey screen that said in multiple languages "Your laptop restarted because of a problem, press any button to continue the restart." A computer technician friend of mine checked it out and said it was probably due to the badly installed OSX and suggested that I erase my hard drive and reinstall OSX.
I backed up all my files, erased the hard drive and reinstalled OSX. Everything looked fine.
    Then it happened again.
Any ideas of why this is happening?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Playlists Missing After Install New Hard Drive and Upgrade to Win 7

My computer needed a new hard drive and I upgraded from Win Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium.
I am trying to get my Playlists back for my iTunes in my "Administrator" user account, after reinstalling iTunes and putting my music libraries back onto my computer.
(I had installed 32-bit Win7 OS myself, computer worked OK for about 1 day, then would not boot up; I took computer to shop, they said I needed new Hard Drive, and I gave them my new Win7 OS computer disks)
I am confused over whether I have 32-bit OS or 64-bit OS. They recommended installing 32-bit OS, I agreed, and believed that I had 32-bit OS installed; however, Computer / System Properties state "System type: 64-bit Operating System"
Prior to my installing Win7, I backed up the following onto my Western Digital "My Passport Essential Portable Hard Drive:"
("My Administrative Account"): Users / Owner / My Music
    and
("My User Account"): Users / Yank / My Music
My "Administrative" and "User" user accounts contain different songs in iTunes.
If helpful, I could describe what is in each of these 2 backed-up music folders.
To get started, I copied both my "Owner" and "Yank" user folders in the C: User folder; however now I have "Owner," "Yank," and "Yank.Owner-Toshiba" folders in the C: User folder. I think I did this by creating a new Yank user account by creating a new account, not by my copying a folder into C: User folder. The Owner folder has a picture of a lock on the folder icon.
Because I had trouble merging My Music folders in the Owner folder, and I was confused, I copied everything that was in the Owner folder into a new folder in the Owner folder, "NEW OWNER FOLDER." I also copied my Owner Music folder into several places in my Users / Owner folder.
I also ended up changing the "iTunes Media folder location" several times, using iTunes "Edit / Preferences / Advanced tab / change "iTunes Media folder location". When I chose "Reset," it shows "C:\Users\Owner\NEW OWNER FOLDER\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media"
I've also played around with "Edit / Preferences / Advanced tab / 'Keep iTunes Media folder organized' "
When I open my iTunes, I have no playlists.
However, when I went to my "Yank" user account and opened iTunes for the first time, the playlists associated with that account were visible.
How do I get my playlists back on my Administrative Account, which is my main song collection and had many, many playlists?
    Thank you.

    YAY!
I didn't try shift-start of iTunes, but I DID GET MY PLAYLISTS BACK BY FOLLOWING YOUR OTHER ADVICE:
I went to my external hard drive, went to my backup at Users / Owner / My Music / iTunes / and searched for library.itl
Four files with that name were found, with different dates.
I chose the most recent, dated just a few days before I made my backup to the external hard drive.
I copied it to my computer's hard drive into the following location:
    C:\Users\Owner\NEW OWNER FOLDER\Music\iTunes
which overwrote the file which was located there.
When I opened iTunes, ALL MY WONDERFUL PLAYLISTS WERE THERE!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SOLVING THIS FOR ME!
CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW DISAPPOINTED I FELT WHEN I BELIEVED THAT I HAD LOST ALL OF THE PLAYLISTS WHICH I HAD CREATED OVER THE YEARS? Many of my playlists were composed of whole albums whose songs I had added to iTunes.
    THANK YOU AGAIN SO MUCH!
