Drive encryption for Elitepad 900

I just received an HP Elitepad 900 tablet and I need to upgrade to Windows 8.1 in order to download many of the apps.  When trying to upgrade, I am required to uninstall HP drive encryption. When i try to uninstall, it says that i need to de-activate first  How do i accomplish this?

This is an old post but I give my solution in case someone have the same problem
Even certain HP technician can't give me an answer to this, I had to call to 2 different technician before receiving an indication to resolve my problem.
So as you say you have to download Disktech, you can download it on the HP FTP server.
There's also a documentation on how to procede.

  • Problem with Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools - Error EE050014

    Hello!
    I have a problem with starting up my HP.
    I am using a HP Probook 4530s, have had it for approximately 2 years now - this is a new problem that has never occured before.
    On startup, after swiping my finger/entering the password at the HP Protecttools screen, I get an error screen titled "Mcafee endpoint encryption" saying "Error 050014 file access error". As far as I'm concerned this is not a Mcafee product although it mentions Mcafee, and I will not receive any help from their support forums. All I can do is press enter, then the cursor is locked in place and nothing but restarting the computer can be done, and then the process repeats.
    Before this error occured, I was going through files with an anti-malware program and it is possible I may have deleted something that might have triggered this, however since I cannot access the desktop or anything it is impossible for me to look into that.
    I have been desperately looking for a solution for a while now but have come up with nothing solid. Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Regards!

  • Is there a way to get full hard drive encryption for the iPad?

    This is a requirement before I start a new job and Is urgent as I really don't want to have to purchase a laptop instead of using my iPad.

    iPad doesn't have a hard drive it uses flash memory. iOS devices already support hardware encryption of data:

  • HP Client Security software preventing the upgrade to Windows 8.1 on my Elitepad 900.

    When I tried to upgrade my Elitepad 900 to Windows 8.1 I get a message that the HP ProtectTools Security Manager must be uninstalled before proceeding. I'm then prompted to uninstall the Device Access Manager for HP ProtectTools and Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools. I never bothered to initiate any of this software when I got my Elitepad 900 and now I'm not sure if it's safe to remove it and proceed with the Windows 8.1 upgrade? Hopefully someone here can help me out with this.

    Locate the F11 key and start tapping it as soon as you turn on the system.
    Stop tapping once you reach the recovery manager screen.
    Click Troubleshoot .
    On the Troubleshoot screen, click Recovery Manager .
    On the OS selection screen, click Windows 8 . Recovery Manager opens.
    Under I need immediate help , click Minimized Image Recovery .
    When Recovery Manager prompts you to back up your files, select a backup option.
    If you have already backed up personal files or you do not want to back up personal files, select Recover without backing up your files , then click Next . Continue to the next step.
    Follow the on screen options and complete the system recovery.
    After the system recovery is complete, click Finish to restart the computer. Complete the setup screens and wait until the computer finishes the setup
    -Then, make sure to install all updates via Windows Update. Do NOT install any drivers for graphics etc.
    -I did NOT do any updates with HP Assistant
    -Run the update via Wired network, disable WiFi and Bluetooth
    -I did disable all things in Autostart. Could be reached via Win8 taskmanager
    -Ran Microsoft Compability checker
    Update went fine this time.
    Some of my steps might not be needed. And of course if MS compbility checker says a driver is not compatible you will have to update it.
    Hopefully it will get you there.

  • Elitepad 900 improper shutdown/restart/sleep, BSOD/hang: wireless card driver problem, Windows 8

    There doesn't seem to be a discussion section for this product, so here goes...
    I've been trying out the HP ElitePad 900 from a local vendor for possible use in our environment. I work for the resident IT shop as a Network Engineer and while I was testing out the product, I ran into an interesting bug. Seem that the  products wireless card (the Qualcomm Atheros AR6004 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi Adapter), when the Power Management of this device is set to not "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", it will not shutdown completely, it will not reboot and it will not go to sleep.
    Rebooting with the wireless card's set in this manner causes a BSOD (or whatever they're calling it for Windows 8). The error says that there was a power state error.
    If you let it go to sleep, the devices does not respond.
    Shutting down, the device hangs at shutdown, preventing it from fully shutting down.
    None of my other devices running Windows 8 have this problem.
    The driver version is 3.7.0.206.
    Again, I'm just testing this product. I will not be able to further troubleshoot the device. I'll leave that up to the support people to work this out.

    Hey Guys,
    I discovered the same problems with my Elitepad. However, I installed the following update and it seems that at least the stand-by problems are solved:

  • JDBC Thin Driver Support for Data Encryption and Integrity

    Hello JDev Team,
    I am trying to implement JDBC Thin Driver Support for Data Encryption and Integrity.
    It works fine with java.sql.Connection and java.util.Properties like in the following code:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Properties props = new Properties();
    int level = AnoServices.REQUIRED;
    props.put("oracle.net.encryption_client", Service.getLevelString(level));
    props.put("oracle.net.encryption_types_client", "( RC4_40 )");
    props.put("oracle.net.crypto_checksum_client",Service.getLevelString(level));
    props.put("oracle.net.crypto_checksum_types_client", "( MD5 )");
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:main", props);
    etc...
    But I am developing an application with InfoSwing components and it has a different way to connect to Oracle database using oracle.dacf.dataset.connections.Connection, like this:
    sessionInfo1.setAppModuleInfo(new ModuleInfo("bc", "BcModule"));
    sessionInfo1.setConnectionInfo(new LocalConnection("JDBCThin"));
    sessionInfo1.publishSession();
    My question is:
    Is there any way to implement DataEncryption and Integrity into this type of connection?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Victor Bykov
    null

    Victor,
    No, you can't do this from DAC, but I've been discussing it with the developer, and we both think this capability would be useful to have, so I've logged it as an enhancement request.
    I do have a question for you. Once you've made the JDBC connection, do you need access to the Connection object afterwards? We're thinking of how the change could be implemented, and one way would be to allow you to pass in a Properties object when creating your own NamedConnection.
    Thanks

  • Signature capture solution for HP Elitepad 900 G1

    Hi, Without the harness of docking station, is there a solution to integrate signature capture function for retail business with the stand-alone ElitePad 900 G1 ( compatible with Microsoft RMS 2.0)   Thanks very much for your help! Howard Chen

    I think i've solved this problem. (Sorry for my English, but i'm Italian).
    The solution is very simple, i tried it more time and in my opinion, it work.
    We need only to disable "Fast Startup" options in Windows 8 / 8.1
    -WIN + X keys, then go to "Power Options"
    -"Choose what the power button do"  (click on it)
    -"Change settings that are currently unavaiable" (click)
    -In "Shoutdown settings" UNCHECK "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"
    Please tell me if it works also for you.

  • Elitepad 900 Charging difficulties and a question about the connector

    Hi.
    I have an ElitePad 900 running Windows 8.1 Pro.
    The unit was a demonstrator model but came with warranty etc.  I am having a lot of difficulty charging the unit.  The power unit end is fine but the piece that goes into the Elitepad is not all that firm - I have to get the thing it the slot "just so" and then put it down very carefully so that it maintains contact.  Also, it frequently stays connected, and advises that it is plugged in but says it is not charging.  Why would it do that - surely if it knows it's plugged in and the battery needs charging it should just do it, not sit idle.
    Any ideas on how to make this work better?
    Second, I have a Connector that came with it.  It has a piece that goes intot he Elitepad on one end and at the other end it has a slot for a USB cable.  I assume this is to transfer stuff from external drives and cameras etc.  Will it also transfer files from my Laptop if I buy a USB/USB cable?  Seems simple enough to me but I'm wondering why it didn't come with one if it is needed to connect to a laptop.
    thanks
    Hoges

    Okay, I have determined that it is an optical output. What I want to know now is how I can convert that to a stereo output.

  • ElitePad 900

    We have a number of HP ElitePad 900's, running Windows 8 (not 8.1).
    We have found with several of them that the screen randomly locks itself (ie goes black, and then when awakened with several home button presses takes you back to the lock login screen). This can happen when in the middle of typing or pressing things, so it cannot be down to power settings.
    Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea on what may be causing it?
    We thought it may be linked to the case we are using (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT4S5xkloSM - this video shows similar issues) but it has since happened to a user who isn't using the case. Any feedback or ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Here a service number to call 1-866-625-1175.
    Feb 19, 2014 call the service number, service was great. HP sent out a box for shipping to their repair center. I sent it in the 20th got it back the 24th.  There was a BIO update done.   Worked fine for a week and then started to act up again, did not fix the problem.
    Mar. 11th or 12th call the number again.  This time they sent a tech person out to look at it.  He had to take it with him.  He ended up replacing the display and the system card (pretty much everything, except the drive and wifi).  Had to re-load everything.  Got it back the 19th.  Now it does no does not recognize my wireless printer.  I know it may need the drivers, but before it searched for the printer and went out and found the correct drivers and installed them.  And I have now a very hot spot in the upper left corner near the on buttom and camera.   I mean this is very hot to touch.  This is where I am at.   Warranty is up the end of April.
    HP service I must say has been great, but I don't know if anyone in the service area really know a thing about these ElitePad 900.  The service tech that had mine had to get the tools to work on this.  I've had it!
    I'm trying to get it replaced.  I have no confidence in the unit I have now.
    Hp calls this a business tablet, no business person would want this if you cannot depend on it.  I'm becoming very dissatisfied with HP products.
    I think I've said enough.

  • Camera not working - Elitepad 900

    Hello
    I am having a problem with the built-in camera on my Elitepad 900. When I open the camera app in win8.1, I get the following error :
    I have tried installing all new updates from the HP support site, with no luck. The camera is present in my device manager, with no errors. However, the geosensor shows up with an error, don't know if this could somehow be related due to geotagging feature. I have tried uninstalling the Broadcom driver, and using the newest from HP support, but with no luck.
    Hope somebody can help! :-)
    This question was solved.

    Hey Student,
    I check my ElitePad and the drivers for the Camera are part of the overall driver pak.
    Try going to www.hp.com/support select your country. Mine is US, so I bookmarked:
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support.html
    then Drivers & Downloads search ElitePad
    Select the HP ElitePad 900 G1 Tablet
    Select your OS, I believe you said 8.1
    Select : Manageability - Driver Pack
    click: HP
    ElitePad 900 Microsoft Windows 8.1 x86 Driver Pack
    download sp64292.exe and follow the instructions.
    see if that helps.
    Also, my sensor had 4 items double check that after your update.

  • Bit locker drive encryption failed due to power failer and hard disk corrupted

    I ran Bitlocker drive ecryption drive D. My pc is windows 7 ultimate, while it was in progress of 1% due to power failer the encryption failed, when power resume the drive didn't showed the file format nor the size but it shows the size in disk management.
    It showed like this in My computer
    I do Have the recovery code password and back of recovery password so I ran the "manage-bde-_unlock D:-rp[my code ]
    and my pc got hang  no other option rather than to press the restart button.
    then I used commang "repair-bde -force D:I:-rp[my rp] and following info showed but it stucked in 1% about 8 hours, and there was no increase in the pecentage
    I also connected the hardisk to mac but all othe partation showed but didn't showed the encrypted one.
    I had lots of memorable picture and other backups so any one kindly help me to get out of this problem. Thanks for help

    Hi,
    The BitLocker encryption and decryption processes can be interrupted by turning the computer off, and it will resume where it left off the next time Windows starts. This is true even if the power is suddenly unavailable.
    Bitlocker-repair (repair-bde)  tool
    can't repair a drive that failed during the encryption or decryption process.
    In addition, could you please explain a bit for what drive you are trying to deal with? external one?
    When you first restart your PC, have you seen any signs that indicate that the encryption is in process?
    Regarding your scenario, please take a look to see if the following articles could help here:
    Scenario 11: Recovering Data Protected by BitLocker Drive Encryption (Windows 7)
    Besides, when running manage-bde command, did we followed the steps mentioned in the below article?
    Scenario 14: Using a Data Recovery Agent to Recover BitLocker-Protected Drives (Windows 7)

  • Hard Drive Encryption Issue

    This is in regard to hard drive encryption issues in my USB Hard drive. I have Windows 7. I was encrypting my USB hard drive and
    was able to enter a password. However, I did not receive any prompt to save the Bitlocker recovery key.  During encryption process, I received an error. The encryption process was unsuccessful. However, now when I plug-in the hard drive, I receive the
    following message on the status bar:
    Application and Device Control rule Block writing to removable media. Unencrypted drive found (No_Encrypted_Found) has blocked edpa.exe trying to access Volume
    {e3901a75-f1ff-11e1-817c-806e6f6e6963 alpha-numeric number appearing here}
    When I try to open the drive, it asks for a password. When I enter the password, I am receiving the following error message:
    Bitlocker Drive Encryption failed to recover from an abruptly terminated conversion. This could be due to either all conversion logs being corrupted or the media
    being write-protected.
    I have read that Bitlocker repair tool can help resolve this issue.
    However, I just have the password that I had set to encrypt the drive and Bitlocker recovery key identification. Can this help to get access to my hard drive data  using the Bitlocker tool.

  • TrueCrypt 6.2 system drive encryption hangs system sometimes a day

    Hi,
    I use truecrypt for years with xp and vista - last with Vista and T500, a few weeks ago I installed windows 7 x64 rtm. Every thing works fine and so I checked step by step my usual installed apps and tools.
    I see win7 is not supported by truecrypt but seems to work fine. But sometimes (one or two a hour) my system hangs for about 10 to 40 seconds. So I decided to go step by step backwards and removed installed tools.
    Removing TC solved my problem. Has anybody seen the same (TC6.2 on Win7 ult. x64 using Lenovo T500 with Intel SSD)?
    best regards
      Ronny

    I have exactly the same problem, but with a HP Elitebook 2530p
    TrueCrypt 7.0a
    Windows 7 x64
    SSD drive, but had the same problem on my traditional HDD.
    The interval is somewhat longer for me, maybe a few times a day.
    And, just as you discovered, removing truecrypt system encryption resolves the issue. Wonder if it's an issue with just the system drive encryption thingy, or it affects all systems having encrypted volumes opened?

  • Drive encrypted using Bitlocker...encrypting backup on Server 2008

    I've seen this topic discussed a few times but with very little real explanation on how to do this.
    I have several servers for several customers that now must be encrypted.  I've run a few tests with our own internal servers and one user server and the drive encryption goes off without a hitch.
    Encrypting their backups however is still an issue.  Usually they are setup with 2 drives, one on site, one off.  Obviously the one on site is a theft issue so it defeats the purpose of encrypting the server if there is an un-encrypted backup.
    Bit Locker to Go is an R2 feature, isn't it?  Plus when you setup a drive for Windows backup, it formats the drive so is Bitlocker even usable?
    The whole idea of encrypting their drives concerns me because of recovering the data/server after a crash.  We use encrypted online back up but the need to do a bare metal restore is the part that concerns me.  I even thought of adding a third drive to the mix just to be overly redundant(paranoid).
    What is the best way to handle this?  How does it work in the event of a server crash, how do you do a bare metal restore with a bit locker drive?
    Thanks

    You can bitlock a portable drive for Server 2012 R2 backup as follows:
    Using Essentials, the first time you use the drive
    1. Start the dashboard and go to the Storage Tab and select
    Disks
    2. Click on the new drive and add it to the backup. Give it a unique label. Backup will format it and remove the drive letter.
    3. Go to the start screen and start Administrative tools | Computer management
    4. Find Disk Management and scroll down to find your backup disk.
    5. Right click on the disk block and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths.
    Add a drive letter.
    6. Open This PC and right click on your drive. Choose
    Turn on Bitlocker.
    7. Give the disk a password and save or print the key. Choose to encrypt used space only.
    8. When Bitlock finishs encrypting the drive, click on the Manage Bitlocker link at the bottom of the progress screen. Find your disk and click the dropdown arrow. Click on
    Turn on Auto-unlock. (Auto-unlock greatly simplifies swapping disks. However, my experience has been it will not reliably unlock the disk after a restart or power failure. You may have to log in for the disk to be reconnected.)
    9. You can use Disk Manager  as you did before to
    Remove the drive letter. It can be handy for verifying the disk's status or distinguishing multiple disks, but you don't really need it.
    10. Close everything up. You are good to go. After this, the disk can be replaced using the normal procedures for swapping USB drives.

  • Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista

    Have just downloaded the Bios Upgrade version 2.2 (QG40 BIOS_W220.exe), but I inadvertently omitted to turn the 'Bit Locker Drive Encryption of Windows Vista' off first, as Toshiba had advised.
    Is there any corrections I can make to rectify this omission and ensure the G40 and the software operate correctly?

    Thanks for your prompt reply Jeka-Nn. But I have several further questions before going too far with the suggestions as I am not familiar with software modifications.
    1. What am I actually trying to do overall by downloading and using the suggested application.? Can you give me some overall picture of what I am trying to do?
    2. Does this fix the problem without me having to make choices--is it self sufficient/self-installing?
    3. Will it return the system to its correct operational settings before I downloaded the Bios upgrade?
    4. I have downloaded the application suggested, but when I try to open the file it sends up a message that reads:
    Error; this installer does not contain any compressed files. To create a self extracting installation package (with embedded files) run:
    "TrueCrypt Setup.exe" /p
    When I press OK, it simply reverts to the downloaded list which has the TrueCrypt v7.0 included, but nothing else happens.
    What do I need to do to fully install the application?
    5. Are there any other steps /inclusions that I need to make to fully correct my 'stupidity'?
    Sorry about all these questions but you can see I am a raw beginner at this work.
    With thanks, rons
