Drive Keeps ejecting out ALL Discs....

I replaced the original with a superdrive from macsales.com due to the same problem and it still keeps ejecting all discs i put in. Once in awhile it will sound like its reading but then ejects it out again. Anyone have any solutions?

Do you mean you "replaced" using of the internal drive by connecting an external drive? Therefore, you are still able to try using the internal drive...?
To rule out a software-related cause, you can try this test. Start up with Option key held down. This will give Startup Manager, where you will see your startup disk options. That screen comes up before the OS loads. Insert your Mac OS X installation disc at that screen. If the drive hardware is working, the Mac OS X installation disc should appear in Startup Manager as a startup disk option. However, if it does the same thing with eventually ejecting the disc, then it is likely that the internal drive mechanism itself is faulty in some way.
There are optical drive cleaning kits that may be helpful, if the problem is accumulated dust inside the drive.

  • Using osx snow leopard with boot camp, optical drive keeps ejecting windows 7 disc

Upgraded my late 2008 macbook pro from leopard to snow leopard.  Added the max 4GB of RAM and replaced the working 250GB hard drive with a new 1TB hard drive.  Rebooted with time machine from external hard drive.  Now tried setting up Bootcamp to add a Windows 7 partition, but the optical drive keeps ejecting the Windows 7 disc after it spins for a few moments.  The optical drive will read other discs, just not the Windows 7 disc.  How do I fix this problem?

you need to install the new bootcamp drivers from windows. boot into windows, insert the snow leopard DVD, open it and follow the instructions.

Disc keeps ejecting out, any solutions? mac book pro

The drive accepts discs but they do not mount or are automatically ejected
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
The MacBook Air SuperDrive is designed to be used with MacBook Air and Mac mini computers that do not have a built-in optical drive. For best results, connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
OS X 10.7 Lion or later: Open System Information by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click System Report.
If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service.

DVD Driver keeps ejecting DVD and requesting a Blank, I insert a Blank and the same message keeps coming up, any suggestions ?

    Hi
    a. You are using Cheap media as Memorex, NoName etc DVDs - I only use Verbatim
    b. You use a DL-DVD or DVD+/-RW type of media - Old Macs can not use DL-DVDs - I only use DVD-R
    c. Your DVD-burner needs a cleaning - Cleaning DVD without liquid but the brush type
    d. Is there OK free space on Your Start-Up (Macintosh HD) hard disk - I never go less than 25Gb free.
    e. Can You describe the material used to create Your DVD
    - Video Codec/s
    - Photo file formats
    - Audio file formats
iDVD can not use all but only a few of them - still it tries and then often fails
    Just to start by.

  • Drive keeps ejecting

I have a WD drive connected to my iMac so I can do Time Machine backups.  The drive keeps ejecting (dismounting) without me doing anything and the message:
"The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off."
    comes up.  Why?

Could be a problem with the port, cable, drive, or power supply (if the drive has it's own).
It can also be a problem with the "spin down" feature of the drive -- it may spin down (or sleep) properly, but not spin back up quickly enough.
Try removing the check from the Put the hard disk(s) to sleep... box in System Preferneces > Energy Saver.
If that doesn't work, try different ports, cables, and combinations of the two. Be sure all connections are snug and secure.  If the drive has it's own power supply, check it, the cable, and the outlet it's plugged-in to.

  • My disk drive keeps spitting out my dvd that I'm trying to brun a slideshow on.

My disk drive keeps spitting out my dvd that I'm trying to brun a slideshow on. Why is it doing this and how can I fix ASAP?

You usually go all the way into the Burn process until it says "Insert a blank DVD now", THEN put in the DVD.
If you put the DVD in early, Mac OS X looks at it, decides it is blank and therefore useless, and spits it out.

  • HT204308 ITUNES KEEPS WIPING OUT ALL MY DOWNLOADS WHAT IS GOING ON

ITUNES KEEPS WIPING OUT ALL MY DOWNLOADS AND IT TAKES HOURS TO RELOAD THEM AGAIN, MY LIBRARY IS SUDDENLY EMPTY WHAT IS GOING ON

    Hi
Check and see what version of iTunes you are using. If it's version 11 or 12 in any flavour the default is to delete podcasts after they are played. You have to go into podcast settings and tell iTunes not  to delete your podcasts (settings will also show how often to update podcast feed). After that EACH AND EVERY PODCAST episode you download has to be saved or iTunes will take the liberty of deleting those episodes after they have been played (at least that is my experience). Also iTunes behaves very differently in Podcast and episode views of podcasts.
    Hope this works for you.

  • Trying to Boot from Disc, CD Drive Keeps Ejecting It

I have a PowerPC G5 with OSX 10.4.11.  I am looking to sell it since I am using a MBP now, but I'd like to wipe the hard drive.  I have the 10.3 installation disc it came with, along with a 10.4 Tiger disc.  I have tried to reboot and press C, only to have the discs get ejected every time.
I have heard people say this is because the CD/DVD drive is malfunctioning or that the disc is scratched, but I am able to open PDF files on both the 10.3 and Tiger discs (My MBP can also read the disc).  The CD/DVD drive seems to work normally, as I put a DVD movie in and it played.  I even tried my Snow Leopard disc that came with my MBP in the G5 and that still caused it to eject the disc.
While I understand the claim that the optical drive is malfuntioning, the fact that I am reading files on these discs plus getting other discs to play confuses me.
Is there a way to keep these **** boot CDs from being ejected?  All I want to to is wipe my hard drive!

"I have the 10.3 installation disc it came with, along with a 10.4 Tiger disc.  I have tried to reboot and press C, only to have the discs get ejected every time."
When you refer to "a 10.4 Tiger disc," do you mean a Restore disk for another model mac?  Keep in mind that most OS Restore disks for other PowerPC Macs (even if the OS version is the same) and all Restore disks for the newer, Intel-based Macs will normally eject, when trying to boot a PowerPC processor-based Mac (such as a G5) from them.  Try holding down the "X" key, when starting up the computer from the original 10.3 installation disk.

  • Disc drive keeps ejecting

Every time I put any kind of disc in the drive it automatically ejects it right back out?

    Hello pjew613,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning optical drive issues:
Apple Computers: Troubleshooting the slot-loading SuperDrive
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801
You may want to review the information under the heading "Doesn't accept discs."
Be sure to check your disc to make sure it is flat. You can check this by putting the disc upside-down on a flat surface. If the disc is bowed up on any side or in the center, do not use the disc because it might get stuck in the drive. Do not use discs that have anything attached to them or dangling from them (such as "sweeper" or cleaning discs).
If the drive struggles when you put in a disc or stops part-way, carefully look at the disc for labels that may be interfering. If there aren't any raised labels then try putting the disc in a few more times.
Try another disc to see if the issue is being caused by a specific disc.
Make sure you insert the disc far enough for the drive mechanism to activate. You need to insert discs nearly all the way before the drive will activate and pull them in. If you don't completely insert a disc, the drive will reverse and push the disc back out.
Allow the drive one or two seconds to accept the disc while it is fully inserted.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
If the drive repeatedly does not accept discs, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    BobbyD

  • My PowerMac G5 will not read my Leopard disc, dual layer dvd, how do I force boot from UBS DVD drive to install?? Or is there another way. It just keeps spitting out the disc!!

I have a power mac G5. Ir originally had Tiger on it. When I reinstalled for some odd reason the disc decided to install Panther, no clue why!! Either way I got a hold of a Leopard disc for this computer. It is apple certified and bought from Amazon and works for this computer.
Hoever, for some odd reason it keeps spitting it out. Discs under 4.7 GB is reads fine but the bigger discs it wont seem to read. What I need is to know how to get, or force, it to boot from an extrenal dvd drive. Or any other methods to get it to install.

I do not believe you can "Upgrade" directly from the "Panther" installed on your computer to "Leopard".  You have to have at least "Tiger" installed already Before you can install Leopard.  Thus your Mac is not recognizing the Leopard Install disk.

  • Cd/dvd drive keeps ejecting Discs

My ibook G4 14.1 (mid 2005) Keeps ejecting discs after i put them in, it will
not accept any disc whether is was a cd r-rw+/- or commercial disc or dvds,i am thinking it is about to die, but i want to see if there was something i was doing wrong or not. It does make every once in a while a grinding sound but has not made that sound for a while.

I'm having a similar problem with my iBook, but so far i've found no solution...

  • Superdrive kicks out ALL discs

Drive started ejecting any disc put in it right after I installed iTunes 8.0.2. Of course I thought 'software problem' but it may have just been a coincidence since nobody seems to be having the same difficulties with 8.0.2. Just wanted to know if anybody had any ideas before I spend $100. for a new Superdrive.

Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type cd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.
