Driver for 40Y8686 CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo II Drive

For the life of me, I cannot find this driver for download from the web site. Any pointers would be GREATLY appreciated!

My Dvd drive cames without and AC Power adapter, it suppose that only needs one USB 2.0 port (no external power adapter is required for read/write operations when it is connected to a single USB 2.0 port on ThinkPad notebooks, the drive can be powered directly through the USB cable whe it´s connected to a USB 2.0 port, and optional 5V AC adapter can be used fir USB 1.0 or 1.1). My notebook its a lenovo x201, its compatible?. I need to buy and AC Power adapter?

T23 with CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo drive problem

I have had my T23 for several years. It came with a DVD/ROM and floppy drive when I purchased it from IBM (not Lenovo). It has served me well but I needed a RW drive, so over Christmas I purchased a new ultrabay 2000 CD-RW/DVD Combo (p/n 22P6991) in the States. The drive can be seen from My Computer, Windows Explorer and Device Manager.
I copied one image (23kb jpeg) from my PC to the drive using Windows Recording Software and it worked. I then tried to move a folder with about 10 jpeg images to the same CD-RW. The images disappeared from the C:/ drive and sit in a virtual storage area (I assume) waiting to be transferred. The CD-RW with one jpeg on it is in the drive and I get a message from the windows writing wizard informing me that there is no disc in the drive. The disc is no longer recognized.
I browsed the forum and found a reference to DLA. I do not have any Sonic DLA software installed. In searching Support and Downloads on the Lenovo Site I see an upgrade to dla521 build 01c (dla521b01u.exe) for 22P6991. As I do not have the base software to upgrade, how do I get the base software? Apparently it is shipped in IBMTools/apps if the device came with the PC.
I may even be chasing the wrong solution here. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Sure would appreciate it.

Thank you for your response, I very much appreciate it. I have DeepBurner installed. I assume it to be much the same as Easy CD Creator and Nero... though Nero is huge! I did select multisession on before I did the first copy.
As an aside, I have noticed that there is no format command for the CD (I am using brand new CD-RW discs). Using the CDs right out of the box rendered the file system as CDFS after I wrote the first file to the disc using Windows CD Record. The disc is now unusable.
For DLA ... I did some web searching and found that the CD-RW/DVD combo comes with file   q1dla1us13.exe . It is not on the Lenovo download site. I did not get a CD installation disc with my purchase. Lenovo phone support tells me to buy DLA.
Update:   I have given up on DLA. I downloaded CDBurnerXP and used it. It was simple to use and it did the job. My concern about not being able to format the drive prior to using it was not an issue afterall.

I need some drivers for my CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive

I have been going through the apple site for a few hours here and I would really like to speak to a human being about this. This is not hard. I have a Pismo PowerBook G3, which I purchased online, used. Wiped the HD when I got it, installed 10.2.8. Updated iTunes to version 6.0.5. I get an error message when I try to burn a CD, missing software or incompatible drive. The drive is an apple brand drive. I am not certain where to find the serial number on it, there are a lot of numbers on it, but it can be provided if someone will tell me where to look. It's not a hardware problem, I can watch DVDs and play CDs, just can't burn. The drive says "CD-RW/DVD-ROM" right on it, and my computer is able to recognize it as such in the system profiler. I am led to believe I am missing a driver(s) that will allow iTunes to burn CDs with the drive.
It'd be great if I could get this on a disc, but if I can just download it from somewhere (willing to pay for it/them!), as long as I can burn it to a disc or download it again if I install a larger HD, that's wonderful. Or, say, I could wait on downloading it until I HAVE upgraded the HD, which I will probably do in the coming year. This would not be as wonderful, but I'm willing to do it.
Please, can somebody help me?

If you can, I'd recommend upgrading to 10.4, as it usually recognizes any 3rd party CDRW/DVD or DVD burner, without the need for Patchburn.
You can check the xlr8yourmac website for reports from Pismo (and other PB) users who have added aftermarket CD/DVD burners to their Pismos, etc.
I too love the Pismo (have had and upgraded at least 10 over the years, some for me and some for family members). The expansion bay was a great idea back in the day. I've found that most if not all aftermarket notebook, a.k.a. "slim" burners fit in the expansion bay. And the Pismo, coupled with Tiger 10.4 (I find 10.4.7 to be outstanding and haven't updated beyond it), is highly usable still today, given that big hard disks and DVD burners and 54g wifi PCMCIA cards (Airport compatible, no drivers needed: e.g. the Motorola WN825G cardbus card) have plummeted in price from a couple years ago. Too bad that compatible RAM is still expensive, as are new Pismo batteries (new, they cost more than many Pismos on eBay!).
As to brands/models, I like the Sony-Nec Optiarc AW-G540A 8x DVD burner (recognized as Master, ID=0 right out of the box, very fast, fairly quiet, priced @ $50-60) because it just works; and the UJ-8xx series DVD burners from Panasonic, which are pretty reliable (and very cheap on ebay if they're older models), because you can swap the faceplate/bezel with the original bezel from the DVD-Rom in your Pismo (if it was a Panasonic model; Apple also used LG drives).

Does anyone know where I can find a driver for the HP 16X DVD ROM Drive? I have an old HP 515n and I'm attempting to install Window 7 on it. Windows 7 is asking for the DVD ROM driver.

Lowell, welcome to the forum.
The only drivers that are available on the Product Specifications page are for XP. Therefore, I don't believe that HP will be developing a driver for the drive. It is possibly too old.

I just installed a new CD-R/DVD-ROM drive in my G4...won't recognize OS??

A friend recently gave me his G4, but the CD/DVD drive wasn't working, so I went to Best Buy and bought a CDRW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive by "Dynex." I installed it and the tray pops out and it appears to be doing something when I put in the operating system DVD, but the screen blinks a file folder and a question mark.
There is no operating system currently installed.
Are only certain drives compatible with this computer, or is there something I should be doing upon start-up?

Dynex is likely a brand name for the seller, not the actual drive manufacturer.
if you check the drive unit itself, it may have some other markings on in that denote the actual mahufacturer.
While all drives should work for at least reading CDs/DVDs, not all will support booting.
Might want to check the drive compatibility database on xlr8yourmac.com

Can't locate DVD ROM drive in "my computer" (pavillion dv72270us)

it seems that wn i start windows ( 7 ) and there is a dvd disc in the dvd rom, in the windows it doesn't seem yo see it .. but if i restarted the system with out any disc in my dvd rom it seems to see it

Hey! I Found out the drive I was using was incompatible. I put in a Pioneer drive and it worked great.

Solved: DVD-ROM and K7N2G compatibility

Seems that the BTC BDV-108A is compatible, but won't read DVD-R or DVD+R...I was misled by BTC, dammit. It's not a compatibility issue.
Although it looks like a CD Drive from Windows, a regular DVD will work.
Gotta get a new DVD-ROM...thinking about a CD-R/W-DVD-ROM combo. Any suggestions?

MSI has a nice combo drive. I think it's the X48 model. I can't get there right at the moment because their web page is having an issue.
I was thinking about it as well. Than I can get rid of my existing two for the one and save some space.

HPG6000 DVD Rom

Hi Guys,
Got the above notebook and for some reason the dvd rom has stopped working, its not showing in my computer or device manager , but it does show in bios.Now I backed up all my data and did a system recovery last night ( the drive needed cleaning anyway )..........after the recovery finished still cant see the drive. The drive opens and shuts when booted....any ideas ?......

I would suggest that you upgrade to OS 9.1 (free download HERE ) and then OS 9.2.1 (free download HERE and further to OS 9.2.2 (free download HERE ). With OS 9.2 you will get Apple CD/DVD Driver 1.4.7 and other DVD stuff. With your OS 9.0.4 (or OS 9.1) you don't have those things. Then check with Apple System Profiler what you have!

Standard or Pro would be licensed through your serial number, the download link and downloaded file would be the same for both of them.
Pro or Standard would be determined after you put in your serial number.

How can I get a DVD ROM Driver for My Portege

I have acquired a Toshiba external DVD Rom type PA3246E and Realplayer says I need the native driver for the DVD topay movies. Anyone know where/what I should download.

I dont think that you need a additional driver. Usually the original system driver should works properly.
Did you try to watch DVD movies which are designed for other region?
If yes so you only need to change the DVD region settings.
But note: you can change the settings only 5 times. Then the settings are fixed

Does anyone know where to find the driver for an HP laptop dv6308nr cd/dvd rom drive? I looked it up on the site and it isn't listed under the available drivers. Maybe I am missing it????

Driver files needed for the following Sony dvd/cd rom drive: "dvd-rom ddu 1615".
The dvd-rom drive will not read any type of dvd or cd.
desktop computer: Dell Dimension E310 , windows xp, service pack 3.
This Sony dvd rom was installed (by someone else) and replaced the dvd rom that initially came with the Dell E310.
Where can I find driver files for this dvd rom?

All of the Sony internal optical drives are plug & play with Windows so no drivers are required for detection in your PC. If you are having issues getting your drive detected then please try the following:
• Ensure the Sony drive is set as a secondary master by itself. If you have another disc burner or a zip drive on the same IDE cable, please separate them.
• Ensure you have the latest Service pack for your Windows operating system and any other updates for your system installed.
