Driver for TV tuner

I've done a full recovery of my DV7-3110TX after a failed HDD however the recovery did not install the driver for the TV card.
From digging around, the best I can ascertain without taking the laptop apart is it's an Avermedia, with id string pciex1131,7160.1461.a55.3 or Device SAA7160
I can't seem to find any drivers for it on the specific support page
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4098...
A search on "Avermedia" on the HP results in heaps of links but nothng that specifically identifies the right driver for this laptop.
Can someone please assist in identifying this TV tuner and the right driver (and where to download)?
Thanks

  • Windows 7 Driver for TV Tuner

I have just installed Windows 7 on my Pavilion DV9574EA and need a driver for my TV tuner. Does anybody know where I can download one from?

    Hello,
I have found a link for Windows 7 TV Tuner Driver
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-76179-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...
Before downloading, make sure you go to your Device Manager, click on "Actions" and select "Scan for hardware changes" then making sure you have all of your Windows Updates.  Also I would recommend downloading the latest version of HP Support Assistant and run a maintenance scan.

  • Best external drive for Air Tunes?

My eight month old Western Digital My Book Pro just died. I had used it to backup various files but mostly to house my 260 GB iTunes music folder. I use iTunes to stream music to my living room receiver, so I'd often leave it running all day.
While the drive itself is still good (I was able to remove the drive from the case and copy the data thanks to my local Mac tech guy), the circuit board that powers it apparently broke down. Could it have been all the heat generated by running it for such long periods?
In any event, my question is: What is the best external hard drive to run a large iTunes library off of? I've seen references to music servers, but I don't need any special connections or capabilities. I'm just looking for a reliable external drive that can stand up to running for hours at a time without burning out its circuit board. A good warranty and near silent fan would be nice too, as would an affordable price tag.
    Any recommendations?

I have to tell you that I have had more problems with Western Digital than Seagate or Maxtor. A long time ago, I bought a firewire external drive (ATA) from Club Mac. The Western Digital drive inside it died, but the case was still good, so I put a new drive in it. The great thing about the case is that it has a fan!! That puppy can run all day and it doesn't really seem to get very hot. I have a feeling that it would be expensive to buy a case with a fan in it now, but you could look for that specifically.
I also have one Seagate 400 GB external drive and a 500 GB Maxtor external and both have had no problems running all day. Last, I have built three external hard drives that are always on when the computers are on and they run fine. 2 of the cases were CompUSA brand and one was something from OtherWorld Computing. All are the kind that are made of aluminum, where the case acts as a heat sink. The case gets hot, but if it is sufficiently ventilated then there should be no problems. So far so good.
Hope this helps. If I were you, I would visit http://www.otherworldcomputing.com and just take a look at what's available. There are other great places like http://www.macgurus.com where they can give you very specific advice about hardware upgrades. If I were in your situation, I would go ahead and use the WD drive in a new enclosure and be sure to back up your music.
    Good luck!

  • HP USB HP TUNER DRIVER FOR WIN7

Have DV7-1170US with Windows 7 Ultimate and would like to know where can I download the driver for thisTV tuner?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ric

If any of you are still having problems with this, I emailed them directly which led to them putting a request in for the specific driver.
They have just put it up on the driver download page.
I had tried all the suggestions (vista driver, G50 driver) and none of them worked.
However it still doesn't work with mine, even after uninstalling the current drivers, when I try to install these it says windows has determined that the drivers are up to date.
Which leads me to believe that they have just released the same drivers as the Vista ones but renamed it.
Anyone else care to give it a shot?

Does a Windows 7 driver exist for driver for HP 5189-1098 TV Tuner w/ FM radio?
Has anyone had any luck getting the FM tuner to work in Windows 7?
    Thank you,

Hi cybermrc. Did this tuner come with an HP computer? If so what model?
How to find your computer model:

Re. FixIt Post: It seemed to to me that he may have run it incorrectly, based on his last post, perhaps I read it wrong.
Can you verify that you have done this (its Win Vista, so let me know if Win 7 doesn't have these options)
Here under “Why can't I find the option to play FM radio?” it shows how to set it up:

  • I am using external drive for iTunes why does it put art on internal

I have my itunes library on an external drive which works quite well for the most part. However it keeps recreating an itunes folder and subfolders on my internal drive mainly artwork and .itdb, .itl and  .xml files in user/music/itunes. this is quite annoying because I am trying to keep as much data as possible off my internal drive for space considerations. I have tried deleting these files but itunes  just recreates them. Does anyone have any ideas?

    pharmercist wrote:
Solved the problem. When I initially moved itunes to the external drive I copied the entire iTunes folder and seleted the appropriate library drive in preferences
This is not the correct way to do it.
This still uses the iTunes folder on the internal for the iTunes library file, artwork etc.
Holding Option and Choose library... tells iTunes to use everything in the iTunes folder you select.
Holding Option and Choose library... you do not need to change the Tunes prefs > Advance - iTunes media folder location.

  • Purchasing a new Boot drive  for Power PC Mac dual G5 2.7 GHz ( early 2005)

As I’ve mentioned I have Power MAC Dual G5 2,7 GHz( early 2005)
I’m doing “ erase and install” on my boot drive Caviar and starting from the scratch - Basically doing whole new setup with my music apps, sample libraries and back up.
To describe it little better - My plan is to move Caviar to second slot ( mostly will be used for I-tunes,documents,photos and maybe some back up) and purchase new boot drive.
All my audio and music samples I’m running from 4 bay ( sata ) exterior hot swap enclosure with Lycom card so my boot drive will be clearly for OS X and applications.
Now - I’ve gone through a big research and even though I have not really make up my mind about my purchase - here is what I’ve found out so far.
As a boot drive I’ve been considering following ( I’m adding my comments as well)
    1) My first pick was Hitachi T7K500 320GB SATA II HD 16MB Cache -
seemed to me like a very good choice for a boot drive since it has a great random access .But after reading review in “ AMUG reviews “ Using a Hitachi T7K500 320GB with a Mac Pro I was not that sure .Apparently They don’t recommend Hitachi T7K500 for internal Mac Pro usage since it is slower without using SATA host adapter. But that is Mac Pro - I have Dual processor so it might be different?
    Second choice was
    2) Maxtor MaXLine III 500GB or Maxtor MaXLine Pro 500 GB
here I’m not sure -some guys don’t really recommend this brand but in bunch of online reviews I’ve read it was mentioned as a very good choice for a boot drive .
I’ve been told that this drive is too noisy and too cheap which I think is not a bad thing though.
    And finally
    3) Raptor 74 GB or 150 GB
Everyone knows those drives are fast
Downside is that size is not very big ( just my OS X will be around 50 GB)
plus 150 Gig won’t work natively on my G5 without host card which would be another extra expense .
Maybe one more thing to add - I have not consider neither seagate drives (since random access speed is not that great) nor pairing any of those previously mentioned drives into raid 0 configuration .
So basically that is my selection.I’m trying to pick up drive which would work natively without PCI - X card and would be reliable and fast.( Only if I would have no choice - Than I would probably buy a host card )
Also I’m not sure whether for example in the case of hitachi ( or even other brands ) would be smarter to go with bigger size - maybe 400 or 500 GB for a boot since all drives getting slower as they get filled up.
I would really appreciate if anyone can give me a feedback as far as what drive would be the best choice in my case.
Thank you very much for your time
    Milan

OK - I'll try that one more time - second choice is Maxtor Maxline III 500 GB or maxtor maxline Pro 500 GB.

  • Back up Hard drive and I-Tunes

I had a hard drive crash. I had backed up my hard drive, previously. I did not do anything specifically for I Tunes. I got a new hard drive, upgraded the hard drive and went to OS 10.6.8.
Background. I spent the last 10 months in China. I could not use my MacBook so when I came back, I had Tiger 10.4.11 and an outdated I Tunes app. I could not synch my I tunes from what I had on my Tiger 10.4.11 Apple said that I needed at minimum Leopard, got snow leopard now.
Now I have everything upgraded and updated, I cannot get the Itunes library that is on the back up hard drive to the new I tunes app. I think my first mistake is not specifically doing anything with Itunes on my Tiger 10.4.11 back up. I assumed that the back up put all those songs podcasts, audio books onto the back up drive and then when everything is updated that I could just somehow get the old stuff onto the new app. It is not allowing me to do this and I know I am not doing something right.
Also, I asked the updated I tunes to transfer the purchases into my Itunes. It did not do this. I am just learning how to do all this. I may have lost music and I think I can get some of it back. I want what is on my I touch now to go to the app and get the stuff like apps and things like that to open up and I can click on them and get them back onto my I touch. For example, while in China, I did not have wifi, so I unclick apps such as ESPN and the Weather Channel because without wifi, they did not work. So I hope I can get some of my stuff back without losing everything.
The computer in China that had my Itunes on it, I think I trashed it and also deauthorized the computer.
    Please help.

All your iTunes media is stored in /Music/iTunes Music/ so if you backed that up onto your HDD then it should be safe and sound there.
You should be able to add your backed up music to your new iTunes by going File > Add to Library and then finding the /Music/iTunes/iTunes music/ folder on your backup drive.
If you want to bring your purchased music/apps from your iPod/iPhone to your new iTunes library you'll need an app. I can't seem to find a good one but:
    http://thelittleappfactory.com/irip/
looks pretty good an the littleappfactory make great software. You might be able to find a free alternative.
    Best of luck!

  • Need HDCP-recognizing Bootcamp Windows driver for MacBook Pro's screen

I need a Bootcamp Windows driver for my MacBook Pro 15/Retina (MBR) that recognizes that the MBR's built-in screen in HDCP-compliant.  The current Bootcamp drivers for Windows do recognized HDCP on an external HDMI-connected display, but do not recognized HDCP on the internal display.
BTW, I've read some statements that Windows drivers don't recognize HDCP via DisplayPort connections, so I wonder if Apple is using internal wiring that acts like it's a DisplayPort connection?
Please do not suggest things that only enable disabling DRM HDCP protection from Blu-Ray discs.  I need a solution that to cooperate with DRM HDCP protection for content from live tuners, not from a Blu-Ray or DVD disc.
My application is using Windows Media Center (WMC) to play streaming content from my Silicon Dust HD HomeRun Prime (HDHR3) cable TV tuner on my MBR's built-in screen.  This works fine with an external HDMI-connected (HDCP-capable) display, but I also want to get this working on my laptop's screen for when I'm stuck in bed (illness, bad back, etc.).  The only application Silicon Dust offers for viewing HDHR3 tuner output on Windows (or any platform, as far as I know) which supports all protected cable channels is WMC, and WMC relies on the Apple-provided Windows NVIDIA drivers for HDCP capability.  The NVIDIA Control Panel explicitly recognizes my external HDMI-connected monitor's HDCP capability, but does not recognize the MBR's internal screen has having any HDCP.  This causes WMC to prevent the display of any TV channels at all from the HDHR3 when the only screen is the internal one (and it blocks DRM-protected channels if both screens are active in parallel).
I'm thinking that the best solution would be an NVIDIA driver for the built-in GeForce GT 650M for Windows 8 (or 7) which recognizes HDCP capability via DisplayPort.  Is there anything like that?  Or, alternately, some add-in driver that adds a layer of HDCP capability recognition to the standard drivers?
Is there any currently-available solution?  . . . something that will enable the internal screen to play all the tuner's cable channels including DRM-protected ones (either on Bootcamp'ed Windows or on the OS X side)?
P.S. -- FYI, the only other potential app I've read about for using an external tuner with a MacBook is an OS X version of MythTV, but (a) that requires an excessively long list of geek tweek steps (install an SQL application, create an SQL database, do lots of command-line tweaks, add & configure a backend app and then a frontend app, ... ) and (b) even then it seems it doesn't support channels that aren't marked "copy-freely", i.e., HDCP-enabled DRM protected content.

Strange -- sig's comment seems gone now.  I wonder why.
Anyway, I did try the latests NVidia drivers yesterday, afterall they explicitly say they added HDCP over DisplayPort, but no joy.  In the NVidia control panel (for Windows), external displays via HDMI have a left-menu section for HDCP that explicitly shows it's working, but there is still no such indication for the internal display, and I am still unable to use WMC with HD HomeRun Prime cablecard tuner to play anything on the screen except channels that the provider marks "copy freely" (e.g., Bloomberg news channel 722 isn't playable, but MSNBC 723 is playable).
My guess is that maybe laptop internal displays don't explicitly have internal DisplayPort and HDCP technology but have some kind of exception that normally allows playback?
As an alternative I wish there were cablecard tuner playback software on the OS X side that could play more than "copy freely" cablecard-tuned material, but there doesn't seem to be anything comparable to Windows Media Player that supports that.  (Now it should be clearer why this discussion belongs under MacBook Pro and not under Bootcamp where the moderators moved it.)

where are all the songs and whole albums i bought for i tunes? i have a new macbook but iTunes has none of my paid for music

Your purchases won't automatically show in your new Mac's iTunes library. If you go into iTunes > Preferences and on the Store tab tick the 'show iTunes in the cloud purchases' then what you can redownload should show in the Music part of your library with a cloud icon against them - click on the cloud to download them. Or click on your name towards the top right of iTunes and then click Purchased on the popup, and you can redownload them from there.
If you've moved countries since buying the music, or if the rights-holders have removed them from the store, then you won't be able to redownload them. In that case if you still have your old computer then you could copy them over from that (e.g. via an external drive : How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support or via home sharing), or copy them from your backup of your downloads/library and add them via File > Add Too Library

I have exactly same problem, video in connector doesn´t work, with ME it worked fine.  All drivers are installed and everything should be like it´s supposed to be, but all it says is that some tv-tuner is using driver. I´ve never installed any tv-card drivers or anything like that. Motherboard is Epox 8-RDA with nvidia chipset
and i´m using MSI GF4 ... something. Idea is that after "updating" to XP home edition it hasn´t been working.
