Driver HP Officejet Pro 8500A A910 - for Mac OS 10.9

Hi,
I'm just installing my new iMac with OS 10.9 Maverick and would like to also install my printer.
However, I can't find a driver for it.
Where can I get this?

Hi Dinger59,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter and wireless on a Mac 10.9. Here is a link to install the printer with wireless and Mac 10.9.
The section you need is under optional: Install the printer software using AirPrint.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus, Wireless, Mac OS

I have an 8500A 910 running on a network that is configured for WEP.
The printer is up and running and working fine with my Windows Vista PC and prints well over the wireless connection.
Attempts to install the printer on my Mac with 10.6.1 fail to list the printer.
When I add the printer manually the HP Utilitiy can't communicate with the device.
It isn't a WEP issue because the printer is connected with WEP just fine.
Is there something about the HP software on the Mac that makes this not work?
Do I need to not use Wireless?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

WEP is not at all secure and can cause connection problems like this.  Unless you HAVE to use WEP, I recommend WPA or WPA2 with a strong (13+ character) password that YOU create!
Next, you should upgrade your OS X to 10.6.5.  Do this through the Apple Menu > Software Update.
After that, reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • Officejet Pro 8500A (A910) - garbled printing

    Hi,
This problem has been going on now on and off for approximately 12 months.  I've a small office with a 4 computers connected to the printer wirelessly.  When printing large files, the printer can't seem to handle it and instead prints out numerous pages containing black lettering ranging from 1 or 2 lines up to half a page.  If I'm printing a double sided file that contains both text and images, it can print upto 15 pages on nonsense.  The firmware's up to date and it's not practical to connect via cable.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, but I've not been able to find a solution searching for it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm seem to be wasting at least a third of a ream of paper and copious amounts of ink just printing day to day.
    Thanks
    Mike

Symptoms suggest that the print job is being corrupted (perhaps by some sort of wireless drop-out?).
If the raw data in a print job becomes corrupted, the printer can easily 'lose its way', and be unable to correctly interpret the next 'tranch' of instructions.

  • Printer problems with Officejet Pro 8500 A910

    Dear all,
I have been given as a present an Officejet Pro 8500 A910 (serie number CN16LDM020 and product number CM756A). The people whom I have got it from already had some problems with the printer heads. I have accepted the printer, because I want to have it working again. I do encounter some problems however. I hope you kind people on the forum can help me out and get this thing working again. As a side note: I am only interested in using the scanner, printer (only black and white - I do not print in colour) and e-printing (I understand that it is possible to email documents to printer, so that they are printed whilst you are somewhere else).
Upon installation I have conneted the internet to my wi-fi. Upon installation it made some test prints, whereby the black dots were good, but the cyan and other colours were not. When I now turn off the installed printer and switch it on again it takes the printer about 5 - 7 minutes to initialize. On the touch screen of the printer it is said "Checking printer, this might take 5 minutes", "Checking printheads", "Aligning printheads" and alike notifications. After 5 - 7 minutes the printer gives the following notification: " Failure notice. Alignment failed. Refer to device documentation for details." When I then push the question mark on the touch screen the following notidication is given: " Alignment failed. Check printer quality of the current print job. If it is not satisfactory, try aligning the printer to see if that improves the quality. To align the printhead again, touch (home), touch (arrow right), touch Tools, and then touch Align Printhead." When I follow these instructions, the same thing happens. I have tried the option "Clean printheads" under "Tools". The test prints that come out are again good in black and white and not good in colour.
The ink level of the cartridges is very low for Yellow, Magenta and Cyan. For Black the printer gives a question mark. The expiry date of the cartridges is in 2015. The information on the Self Test Diagnostic Page (you get when you print a report from checking the ink cartridges) gives the following status:
    Printhead status
Printhead health: Good (for both Black/Yellow and Magenta/Cyan)
    Serial: 7735960 (Black/Yellow) and 7744345 (Magenta/Cyan)
    End of warranty: mid-2013
Accumulated ink usage (ml): Black 99/Yellow 71, Magenta 57/Cyan 58
    Refilled supply:
Detected in printhead/printer? For all cartidges "yes".
When I try to print a document from Word on my MacBook (which runs on Mac OS X 10.6.8) and the printer is on stand-by, Word recognizes the printer, starts with the print order but then comes with the notifications "Printer offline" and "Cannot find printer" and postpones the print order. Today I reset the printer and the print job that I had before the reset (which was postponed) came out.
Today, I printed a document whilst the printer was not on stand-by (the touch screen was on home menu) and the print was well (it was only black and white). After the print, the printer also made a print report. Again, the colour was bad, but black ink was good. After that print report, the printer started aligning again. After 5 minutes it gave the above-mentioned failure notice (" Failure notice. Alignment failed. Refer to device documentation for details.").
I would assume that the first thing that I should do is get new cartridges. However, since I only print black and white, can't I just buy the Black Ink and disable the other cartridges? Then, I am thinking of not buying HP cartridges (since the warranty term is already over). What cartridges do you reccomend (price-quality)? If  new cartridges are installed (previous owner had same problems with full cartridges) and the problems (with print heads) are not solved, what should I do?
On a second note, I want to use the option of printing online. In other words, give a print order on my Iphone to the printer so that it starts printing at home. How do I set this up? How can I test this?
I would be very obliged with your feedback on the above.
    Kind regards,
    Onno

    Hey Onno,
I see you have several items listed about your Officejet Pro 8500a (A910 series) printer.  The main issue that stands out is the print quality issue.  I would advise starting here with your printer.
From your information I can see that refill or remanufacture cartridges have been used in this printer at some point.  It is possible that the ink from these cartridges have damaged the internal ink system of the printer.  If you have performed all the troubleshooting steps for the print quality issue you are experiencing, then the next step is going to be replacing the printheads of the unit.
    Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues
The 8500a requires all cartridges be available even if you are simply printing in B&W.  If the cartridges are low, then you will have to replace the cartridges as needed.  Typically by the design of this printer, however, print quality issues do not follow ink levels in the cartridges as ink is piped to the internal printheads, thus even with empty cartridges there is some ink remaining in the system.
The printheads for the 8500a can be found at most HP certified retailers if you decide to attempt replacing them as a step towards resolving the issue.  As to the cartridges, I would advise using genuine HP cartridges as HP ink is designed with HP printers in mind.  For information about refilled/remanufactured cartridges please click here.
Hope this helps in getting the print quality issue alleviated,
    Jason

  • HP Officejet pro 8500 A910 won't print wirelessly

    "An error has occurred. (devInfoPage-503)".
I've had my Officejet pro 8500 A910 for less than 6 months.  It was an easy set up and printed and scanned perfectly for at least 2 months.  I use a wireless connection from my laptop which is running Windows 7.  Then a few months ago I started having problems scanning wirelessly from the printer pad, it would tell me that there was no computer connected. If I went to my laptop and went into the HP Document Manager it would scan the document and save it to my laptop just fine.  And I could still print - the laptop had no problem finding the printer.
About a month ago I had a really big print job for work.  But I figured this was a sturdy printer and could handle it.  Towards the end though the printer would stop printing for no apparent reasoning with the keypad just showing the spooling circle and saying "printing".  The only way to get it to actually print was to unplug the computer, delete the print job and start again.
Then for a while I had to do that every time I wanted to print, even after the "big print job" was long over, and still no scanning from the printer (will scan from the laptop).
I've tried several times uninstalling and reinstalling the software.  I've checked to make sure the printer is included in the "home network".
Today I reinstalled the software at the Control Panel on my laptop I get the green checkmark meaning the printer is set up and ready to go, but when I try to print a self  test page I get this message "An error has occurred. (devInfoPage-503)".  Any help in solving this problem would be much appreciated.  Thank you so much for your time.

My Office jet has printed fine wirelessly for 6 months but started to not recognise the computer.  re starting worked for while but now it will not recognise the computer at all.  The computer says  Scanner communication cannot be established and the printer says it sees the computer.
Why did it work but now won't?
    Thanks,
    Billy

  • Mac os 10.6.8 & hp officejet pro 8500a plus (910g) stopped printing wirelessly.

hp officejet pro 8500a plus (910g) prints from mac os 10.6.8 with a usb, but stopped printing wirelessly
HP Network Configuration Page states Network Status: ready and Active Connection Type: Wireless
Wireless Network Test Report - looks A-O.K.
Turned off modem, printer and laptop & restarted modem, printer, laptop computer
Seems that the computer can't "find" the printer, maybe.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you open System Preferences --> Print & Fax and click the "+" symbol at the bottom of the printer list on the side, you should get an "Add Printer" dialog window to pop open.  Is your printer visible in that window?
If not, try printing a configuration report from the printer, to get the IP address your printer currently has.  If you type that number into your web browser of choice (Safari, Firefox, etc.), does the printer's "embedded web server" page load?
If so, you could set up the printer on your Mac using the IP address in the "Add Printer" dialog. To do that, you select "IP" at the top of the window rather than "Default" (which is a discovery list), and paste the IP address into the "Address" field.  If the printer is available, it should pick the model automatically.

  • Need MICR compatible ink cartridge for Officejet Pro 8500A Premium to print checks.

I need to print bank accepted checks on my Officejet Pro 8500A Premium printer using MICR ink.  I cannot find a compatible MICR cartridge for this printer.  There are MICR cartridges available for other HP printers.  Does anyone know of a compatible cartridge?

Try using the multilevel uninstaller in the HP software driver CD. Browse the contents of the CD and look for the "Util" folder and open it. In the "Util" folder, open the "CCC" folder. In the "CCC" folder, double click on the "Uninstall_L3.bat" file. Don't use the "Uninstall_L4.bat" file. It could remove files that have shared dependencies with the HP software. Restart the computer and then reinstall the software afterwards. Let me know if it worked or not.

  • Officejet pro 8600 waiting for job to complete on Mac

    Hi
I have the problem where after printing the I get the message "waiting for job to complete" which never goes away by itself. I can manually delete the item and then continue to print repeating the process every time I need to pringt.
I have read the forums and found similar issues but not exactly the same and the recommendation for that was to reset the print system and resinstall. I did that but the problem persists.
    Printer: Officejet pro 8600 Plus
    OS: OSX 10.9.3
Connection: Wireless and  USB (same issue with both)
When I initially installed the printer it worked fine. When I upgraded to 10.9 it worked fine but the problem arose soon after.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums MedlandLime,
I understand you are seeing a message saying "waiting for job to complete" after you print and the message will not dissipate. I saw that you have reset the print system and reinstalled and the message continues. I have some more ideas that might help.
First of all, test the printer hardware itself and make a couple of copies. If the copies work fine, the printer is okay!
Next, try updating the printers Firmware through the front panel: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates
If the issue still persists, follow these steps in order:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the computer
Re-add the printer and ensure it's the HP driver and not the AirPrint driver: HP Officejet Pro 8600 series Full Feature Software and Driver- OS X 10.9 Mavericks
Please let me know the results!

  • EPrint for HP Officejet Pro 8500A works, but ePrint account closed my sign-in

I have been using ePrint with my HP Officejet Pro 8500A for 2 year and it works great.  After the latest software update, I tried to log in to my ePrint account to add another authorized user, but the system has forgotten my E-mail address.  I know I am using the correct E-mail address, because I get HP mail reminders for my printer at that address and it is the only one I use for business, but I can't even trigger a forgotten password because the new ePrint says I don't exist.
If I create a new account for the same printer, will that conflict?  I have the printer's E-mail address and use it regularly, so I know it is properly connected to my wireless and that it talks to ePrint.  Is there any way to recover an account if you have the printer's E-mail address and serial number?
    Thank you!

    Hi David,
Click the Forgot Password link on the Sign In page and provide your emai address to reset the password.
    https://h30495.www3.hp.com/user_login?next=%2Fc%2F46193%2FUS%2Fen%2F
If the email address is not recognized, try resetting the password through the HP Snapfish site.. that may work if the accound has been marked to be associated with HP Snapfish during the registration:
    http://www1.snapfish.com/snapfish/forgotpassword/module=true
Last but not least, you may migrated your account with the new HP Connected service, then you may try retrieve your password below:
    https://toran.hpconnected.com/oauth/ui/resetpwdpage
The sites above should cover any possible account association and I believe that one of them should recognize your email address and allow resetting the password.

  • Auto switch from tray 1 for envelopes to tray 2 for letters on HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium

Hi I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium e-All-in-One Printer - A910n My Operating System is XP Media Center.  I haven't been able to get it to switch from one tray to the other automatically. Also  it only remembers 1 type of paper at a time. I can't get it to show in Properties, Paper  available, more than one type of paper. I open device settings, Form To Tray Assignment, Printer Auto Select :Letter.     Tray 1 : Letter   Tray 2 : Letter.   Now I change Tray 1 : to Envelope #10  click apply, click ok, it closes out. I open the Properties back up & Tray 1 : is back to letter.  Is there a way to get the printer to remember the it is set up with 2 Trays with 2 different types of paper ? I think the problem lies with the Printer Auto Select : But I am not sure. I would like to be able to print an address on an envelope when working in works. Without having  to manually change the Tray settings. Does any one Know How to set this up ? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this issue.

    Hi MrHope,
Make sure that the printer is set to have tray 2 as the default tray, and then try setting the paper types for each tray in the printer settings.
