Driver installs and direct x

im currently installing bootcamp to use win 7.
i want to know if drivers are still the same for windows, i mean can i still use as if it was on pc, install direct x and hardwareand video drivers the same, or do i have to get apple variants? also do i need firewall/antivirus
also how do i do windows updates? through the microsoft as usual? also my MBP has dual graphics how will this work within windows?
thanks

Yes, though with laptops the drivers can be an issue.
If you have Intel 3000 integrated it may also not work the same as a PC.
Definitely, of course you need Security  - whatever you know and respect, and can trust.
Windows 7 MSSE is free and does a good job. I use that, and Kaspersky 2011 Suite. I would not go with just AV portion.  Most have or look like good 2012 suites coming out.

  • Threads on windows xp & jukebox zen driver installation and no resu

I didn't know Creative didn't know how to solve the driver problem with windows xp. Because if they did there would be a simple solution instead of alot of run around on try this and that. There are so many people on this board with the same problem that I have and none of them got a straight answer on " Here this is what you do," Bam! that should be it. Obviously its a lousy software that doesn't really work. So if someone can tell me how to install a driver or make windows xp recognize my jukebox zen so I can transfer some music to the **bleep** thing I would really greatly appreciate it. We all shouldn't have to be geniuses to use this software.

  • 32bit DIFx Driver Installer Error when Installing 9.0.2

Never had a previous problem with iTunes and when I went to use it this morning, it crashes everytime. Uninstalled completely, reinstalled 9.0.2 and now I get an error "32bit DIFx Driver Installer" and iTunes "finishs" installing and crashes after opening again. Have tried unsuccessfully to figure out a fix for this. All my children got iPod Touches for Christmas and I got a brand new iPod nano and none of us can use them now. Please help!

Hey guys! So, I experienced the same issues with the newest iTunes update. I updated several days ago, but I used iTunes for the first time since the update today. iTunes would load but immediately display a message that it needed to close. After several attempts to open iTunes, I reinstalled QuickTime as suggested by another website. Also suggested was trying to repair QuickTime and iTunes. When that didn't work, I removed both QuickTime and iTunes and did a clean reinstall from new downloads. When I did this, I got the 32bit DIFx Driver Installer error. It "finished" the install, but it still closed immediately upon opening. I ran Malware-Bytes and Hijack This to check for spyware/adware/mal-ware a few days ago so I was fairly certain my system was clean...but after two hours of trying to figure out this problem, I decided to go ahead and check for virus or malware.
Indeed, I found six files (mostly located in the System Volume Information folder). After having Avast remove these files...iTunes successfully installed without the DIFx error! So much for being "sure" my system was clean. The files found were all related to the Win32:Malware-gen virus.
So I suggest you check your system for malware and virus infection. I did my scan in safe mode and did the most in-depth search that Avast will perform. I highly suggest doing a full search with UPDATED virus program even if you think your computer is okay.
I have had no issues with iTunes after cleaning my computer!

  • TVAnywhere Plus Blue Screen on Driver Installation!

So I picked up the MSI TVAnywhere Plus PCI Card.
I installed it on the very bottom PCI slot on my MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum motherboard.
Right in the middle of the Driver installation, it blue screens on me.

After this, it reboots and then boots back into Windows.  Soon as Windows finishes loading up it then tells me that the Driver I was trying to install is not WDM Certified, do I want to continue, yes or no.
If I select Yes, then it does the exact same Blue Screen, again... and reboots, again... rinse, repeat, back to the Driver not WDM question, continue? yes, no?... rinse.. repeat...
If I select No, then it tells me that there is a problem with the Driver Installation and thats it.  My computer is then free to use but I can't use my new hardware.
If I go into Add/Remove programs and attempt to delete the software in there that was installed (as it seemed to have installed software related to the remote control) it will give me an Error and tell me that the Software can not be uninstalled, because it was not properly installed in the first place.  I have the same problem if I try this through Safe Mode.
I can not delete any thing that was installed, because it tells me I have to reinstall it first... but I can't install it, or reinstall it, period!  Every time I try, it blue screens!
Now, I have also tried going in through my Device Manager, selecting the device in the list, selecting Reload Drivers and MANUALLY Searching for the drivers on the CD and installing them that way, and again... same Blue Screen at the same point!
Lastly, I have attempted to download Drivers from the MSI Website.
However, those Drivers are a Year older then the ones that came on the CD.  The downloaded ones are dated July 3, 2008.  The Drivers on the CD are dated December 2009!  Also, the download gives me a Zip File with 3 sets of identical files.  I can not extract anything from the Zip File because all the files keep over writing each other.  There's three sets of each files, all different sizes.  I would presume to thing that one set is for XP, one is for 2000, and the third is for Vista.  Yet, there is no documention or any designation that tells me what is what so I can seperate them and use the correct one...
    So.
    Help!

    Ok!
    /sighs...
Audio problems fixed... have no idea how it happened but... didn't have anything to do with any my Creative X-Fi software, it was something in Windows itself that got screwed up.
In Control Panel, under "Sounds and Audio Devices"... then in the Audio Tab, and then select the Volume Button to open Windows' built in volume controls.  Then on that, under "Play Controls" there is a button for "Speaker Volume" which controls the volume of up to 8 speakers on a 7.1 system.
Somehow, the sliders for my two rear channels, my front right channel, and my Sub, were all reset to zero.
Again, no idea how that happened but seemed to have happened after I got the PVR Software working.

  • Software and Driver Installation for HP Officejet 7310 Crash on my new laptop running Windows 8.1

I am trying to load the software and drivers for my hp Officejet 7310 on my brand new Lenovo laptop which runs windows 8.1.  I had successfully loaded the software last week.  Unfortunately I lost the disk drive on my 2 week old computer. The store gave me another brand new Lenovo laptop.  On the new laptop I get errors when I try to load what I think is the same software that I loaded on the other computer a week ago.  I downloaded the software from the hp website.
The driver software download fine.   Originally it then unzipped and a nice interface came up.  I think I clicked the load button.  A message box came up saying that it could not find a certain file in appData\local\temp\7xxx...  I tried the download and install several more times.  I think I then did windows updates and registered my version of office.  I was thinking that with the other computer I must have had the computer in a different state such that the drivers and software installed without a hitch.
Things seem to have gotten worse.  I do not get as far.  It still downloads fine but now after unzipping rather than the nice interface with the "load" button I get the a message box.
The latest error is in a message box with the heading "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library".  The error says that Program:c:\users\...\appData\local\temp\7zS4237\setup.exe  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
I was able to connect the printer through the "add Printers" and am not actually too worried about having the whole "HP Solution" with the scanning interface.  I am worried that this error will cause me problems in the future with other things.  Thanks in advance for any help.
I saw similar issuesdiscussed on the web and have tried several things.  I really do not want to reload the OS and start again.  We have barely used the system and I have no idea how this problem occurred and so I would not know how to prevent it from happening again.  I did stop and start the print service.  I was tempted to "totally unload the hp print drivers" but the file names in the posted instructions did not exactly match my files.  Another post mentioned making sure that I had the latest version of Adobe Flash Player loaded.  I went to the adobe site and it said that it is part of windows 8.1's internet explorer.  I ran the test and it seemed to work.
Could the HP installation failure have corrupted my version of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Karen_M2,
    Thank you for your response!
The HP software does require the C ++ run-time libraries in order to install correctly. Please see this guide, Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error May Display When Installing Certain Printers.
Here are the differences between the four types of uninstall:
    1
Removes the Windows device discovery (Plug and Play) entries from the Windows registry. After running level 1, connect the USB cable to the all-in-one and let Windows try to discover the device again.
    2
Performs Level 1 and removes the software drivers. After running level 2, run the all-in-one installer and use the "Add a new device" option to attempt to reinstall the all-in-one again.
    3
Performs Levels 1 and 2 and removes the HP Photo and Imaging software. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 3.
    4
Performs Levels 1, 2 and 3, and removes HP Software Update. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 4.
If you have an HP computer I would not recommend the L4 uninstall as it would also uninstall any other HP software you have installed besides your printer.
Definitely continue going through the post I had provided, Re: Error message Microsoft visual c++ runtime library.
If that still does not resolve your issue, or you cannot uninstall using one of the four methods above, then try the following:
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any antivirus programs. How to Disable Antivirus in Windows 8?
Disable any firewall programs. Windows Firewall from start to finish.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 8).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

  • LV Driver - Installation - LV32 bit and LV 64- bit

    Hi,
I am making build spec for LV driver, I did the following experiment,
    Experiment,
    Create a installer on LV2014 32 bit
      2. Path for source destination:
          C:\Program Files(x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\instr.lib
Now, I install this driver on another system having LV2014(64 bit) and now it takes path
C:\Program Files(x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\instr.lib and install my driver into it.
it creates a specifed path and put drivers there, it dont care that LV32 bit is not present on system.
    Result
My drivers are not present in function palate Instrument I/O section but if I copy this to
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\instr.lib, It works fine.
Experement 2: if I change the proper path for 64 bit during installtion(so called at step 3 if Exoeriement 1) following is the result
    My questions are,
How can make driver installer user friendly for both 32 and 64 bit LV user?
Is there any solution that installer will take path automatically with respect to LV 32bit or LV 64 bit (whichever is present)?
Is it mandatory to appear driver in Instrument IO function palate, it must be present in instr folder ? What if I want to choose any other folder to install this this driver and still want to make appear my drivers in Instrument I/O Function palette ??
    Thank you.

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
    - I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
    - My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
    - Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
    - Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
    The good news is:
    - They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
    - They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
            - Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
             - The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. Thank you so much to everyone who read and replied to this post!

  • Issue regarding Thin Installer and driver packages

    Hello everybody,
I have recently started to work for a new company and have been tasked with creating a new Windows deployment solution.
My company are using Lenovo desktop and laptop and my installation image use Thin Installer to deploy drivers to our workstations during Windows deployment.
I have been having some difficulties getting everything to work and I want to write about it here to hopefully help someone in the same situation as me and call out for better quality control at Lenovo.
Here are the command line I call to start Thin Installer from the local computer:
START /WAIT thininstaller.exe /CM -search A -action INSTALL -repository \\wds\lenovo -noicon -showprogress -IncludeRebootPackages 1,3,4  -noreboot
Hers the issues I have expirienced:
    1. Sometimes packages downloaded with Update Retriever will be set to "Reboot type: Forces a reboot" as default. This causes the Thin Installer to reboot reguardless of the -noreboot switch.
Its possible to change reboot type "Requires a reboot" in Update Retriever and than the updates installs fine.
This causes problem with scripted installs where you cannot have the system reboot "out of order".
Updates should never be default "forces a reboot".
    2. On my Thinkcenter e93z (10B8) the Intel Displaydriver (v 9.18.10.3220) wont install because the PnPID is not listed in the XML file. (my PnPID is VEN_8086&DEV_041E&SUBSYS_309C17AA (309D17AA is listed tho)). Manualy editing the XML files to include my PnPID solves the problem.
Lenovo should really have better qualitycontrol here.
    3. On a t440s machine i have the Synaptics UltraNav Driver (v. 17.0.12.60) wont install automatically with Thin Installer.
This is because the machine i installed failed the "BIOS test" in the XML file of the update package. I manually edited the XML file and replaced the "BIOS TEST" with one from another update that worked on that system and now everything installs automatically and works fine.
Its possible that Lenovo has detected some kind of problem with my BIOS version and the Synaptics driver but everything seems to work fine for me.
I hope this post will help someone in the future
EDIT: Other people have called out some problems with the information provied in this post. You should read the whole thread before making any changes to your systems.
    Kind Regards,
    2bi

    2bi,
Thanks for posting your findings.  I will investigate and escalate the missing PnP id issue for the Display Driver issue.  We absolutely need to avoid these kinds of escapes.
For you ThinInstaller command line I would recommend not using the -showprogress parameter if you are using in a scripted deployment scenario with something like MDT and/or SCCM.  These solutions typically will not allow TI to interact with the desktop during deployment which is what -showprogress will cause.
Also, you are telling TI to include packages that will automatically reboot your system (type 1), requires a reboot which can be delayed (type 3), will shutdown the machine automatically (type 4).  We have very few type 4 packages anymore; however we definitely have type 1 and type 3.  As sclexman mentioned, the -noreboot will only apply to the type 3 packages which leave the execution of the reboot up to TI.  So -noreboot tells TI that even if it installs updates of type 3, it should not reboot when finished.
Changing the Reboot Type value in Update Retriever only changes how TI sees the package and does not alter how the package itself executes.  So if a package is designed to always automatically reboot, changing it to type 3 in UR will have no affect.  We have recently had a display driver released by Intel that will automatically reboot if the driver installer detects that it is upgrading an older version of the driver.  In a clean deployment scenario, the automatic reboot will not happen so in this case it is safe to change the type to type 3.
This leads to another point.  All of our content that is available through Update Retriever is also intended for consumption by System Update which is the utility aimed at individual consumers to help them keep their drivers up to date.  Therefore this becomes our lowest common denominator that we have to support.  This leads to situations that may not be ideal for the deployment scenario.  If we had an army of resources we might be able to manage all of our content for both consumers and enterprise deployments; in effect doubling our efforts.  Unfortunately this is not the case and we are trying to do the best we can.
Regarding the UltraNav update for T440s, I see that the XML has a _BIOS section under the Dependencies.  However it is defined such that any BIOS level will work because the first level listed is a wildcard asterisk (*).  This BIOS section is actually included for a completely different solution which also uses the XML.  It is not intended to control the targeting of the update for System Update or Thin Installer.  Perhaps there was a mistake made initially and the XML was released without the * and has since been fixed.

Hi all, in answer to the above suggestions:
No the 10g database and listener is completely down (no services belonging to the new 10g database are running). I checked also alle the logs, but no messages anymore since saturday.
What I did notice: Oracle92HTTPserver (a service normally started automatically) does not start. When I start it, it gives me a message that there is nothing to do and that the service therefore is not started. So the HTTP-server itself is not working anymore. I can't find any files changed by th installation in the Ora92 home Apache directories. All seems as it was before the installation And still it won't start....
Does anybody have other suggestions? Please help.
    Thanks in advance,

  • How do I move my current hard drive OS and data to a new drive for internal installation?

I want to replace my Macbook Pro 500GB Hard Drive with a 2TB Hard Drive.  How do I make this new drive bootable and a replica of my current drive programs and data?   I also want to upgrade the OS.  Is it best to mirror the drive and then upgrade the OS, or can I put the new OS on the new drive and then clone the old drive onto it?

For starters I would do this one step at a time. It is far easier to check out where the problems are when they develop that way.
My first step would be to backup everything that you have now as a first step. Just in case of problems later.
Next, I would suggest to place the new 2TB disk drive in an enclosure and format it to Mac OS Extended and GUID partition mapping first.
Once that is done you can create a bootable clone on the 2TB disk drive using either CCC or SuperDuper.
Then test to be sure the 2TB is bootable.
Then move the 2TN disk drive into the Mac.
Once you have done that and it boots them you can upgrade the operating system.

  • Error I-001 with Applications and Driver Installations (SOLUTION INCLUD

    [url="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=27704&jum p=true#M27704">Verified Solution further in Thread[/url]
    Hi,
Right to get straight to the point, I have just downloaded the new Console Launcher beta and the new Release of WaveStudio 7. After attempting to try and install them both, and getting the same error message of I-00, and finding that Creative have decided to pass the blame for this error onto InstallShield and it's developers. I have found that it is not actually their fault.
According to the Install log file for both of these applications, they are looking for DirectX either installed on the machine, or the redistrobutable in the installation package to perform any required updates. However, when searching, it apparently cannot find DirectX for some unknown reason.
Creative, this is really a pretty lame error on your behalf, and could be solved with a few minor modifications to your InstallScript from with-in the InstallShield IDE. Then simply re-compile and distrobute an updated installtion package.
Is it far too much to ask for your developers to actually research and test problems. I mean I am a programmer, and know that there is a pre-requisite setting in the InstallShield IDE allowing you to detect and update DirectX as needed, so why your dev's are trying to do it another way is beyond me.
    Please fix these stupid mistakes.
    Andrew.

    Hi,
Well, Richard-CL has assured me that the details I provided above have been passed on to the developers. But whether the problem is resolved or not is yet to be seen.
I am working on fixing the InstallShield problem myself for my own personal use, however, I am not sure how Creative would react to allowing other people to use or download the applications.
Considering that I will only be fixing the installer, and not actually hacking any features etc.

  • Stream 14 Driver installation Issues on Windows 7

I am wierdly struggling with something I have done countless times before with other laptops - remove Windows 8 and install Windows 7 I've so far disabled Secure Boot, Enabled legacy support, removed all  hard drive partitions and installed Windows 7 which has gone on without issue, the problem is the driver installation. I (as always) download the drivers from: -a) The PC manufacturer if present (not in this case)b) Direct from the hardware vendor I do not use driver download software (trust issues) The first problem driver is the AMD chipset driver, I have downloaded the Catalyst driver many times and yet each install does not actually install any usable drivers (v14.12) which lists the chipset as supported OK, I'll download the broadcom driver for the inbuilt wifi, this was confirmed by the VEN and PID numbers however despite downloading the correct broadcom driver it did not install the wifi device. I thought OK, i'll add a wifi dongle and use that to triple check I have the right chipset driver by using their auto detect feature. However the same problem has occured, I checked the VED and PID number against realteks drivers to find the right one but it will not install this either.  This has, at the moment, left me with a HP Stream 14 with Windows 7 and no drivers and no internet connection to use driver dectection. Note: drivers downloaded and copied onto Stream 14 using my PC.  Any Thoughts?

Hey, tsumbled upon your thread googling for the same thing. Changed OS from Windows 8.1 to 7. Managed to install USB3 driver, by installing AMD Chipsets drivers from AMD's site, the latest ones should work.  Chipset driver also installs support for HDMI Audio, SM Bus, SATA, PSP. I also had problem installing graphics driver (Radeon R3), the latest Catalyst drivers (15.7) weren't working (the .inf file didn't contain needed DEV_9854). But fortunately the Latest Windows Beta driver (15.6) from AMD did work. Broadcom BCM43142 Wifi driver, I downloaded from HP - http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?idx=2&swEnvOID=&action=driverDocument&itemLocale=&swLang=&swItemId=ob_133353_1&mode=4 For the rest, Windows 8.1 drivers worked.
