  • Driver IRQL not less or equal (igdkmd64.sys)

I am receiving the error "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (igdkmd64.sys)" periodically whenever I try to start up graphics-heavy programs.  I had thought it might be related to the intel graphics driver (though the graphics-heavy games should be using the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M graphics card on my Qosmio X75-A7170), but have tried reinstalling it and still received this error.  The Intel website lists an updated intel graphics driver, but when I tried to install it, it said that it wasn't able to install on this system and that I needed to get it through the manufacturer (i.e., Toshiba).  From what I can find via Toshiba, my computer is running the most updated graphics driver for the intel 4600 integrated chip that backs up the Nvidia card.  I am still receiving the error whenever I try to play a game.  At this point I am just confused.  Is there something else I should be doing?  I have only had this computer since mid-April, so I am surprised to be having problems with it already.

These are the latest display drivers for your model for Windows 8.1:

Do you still get the error with those installed?

  • Windodws 8.1 - IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

    Hello everyone,
So I've been experiencing crashes with the error for IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL, I have searched on Google for possible reasons and it appears it could be software or hardware related (notably RAM) but I want more experienced and knowledgeable people to confirm
    the root issue.
I have been getting them sporadically like once every two weeks or so, this is the latest one (not sure when they have started but longer than a month I think?).
I have installed new RAM around three weeks ago.
    All my drivers are up-to-date.
I am not sure if my BIOS is up to date.

    Thank you for your help!

Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved.
If you dont know what it is you probably are not overclocking.

  • Portege R100 - Random Blue Screen of Death (IRQL not less or equal)

    Hi,
I've been getting random "Blue Screen of Death" screens in the last few weeks. The error is "IRQL not less or equal" and it's performing a memory dump every time. If I get the error and try restarting the laptop after, I usually get the same "Blue Screen of Death" screen when booting.
I didn't install any new hardware lately. Last upgrade was about a year ago; upgraded the memory. I've tried replacing the RAM with a spare one I had and I was still getting the same error.
I didn't install any new software in the last weeks that would coincide with this error.
I'm monitoring the CPU temperature and I doesn't go higher than 48 deg Celcius.
I'm not an expert but I would assume this is purely an hardware problem ? Since I rarely hear the CPU fan, I thought it could be the CPU overheating.
But even after making the CPU fan run at 100% using a freeware called "Speed Fan" I was still getting the same random "Blue Screen of Death" screen.
I would really appreciate any feedback and help. I really like my R100 and would like to fix it.
    Mark.

Hello, I have a Portege R500 and I am also too having this error message. I was getting a blue screen when loading the pc advising of a memory dump issues.I ahve replaced the ram inside the laptop and this has failed to resolve the issue. I am now having the error, IRQL not less or Equal everytime. I have run a memtest86 scan and this did show up possible memory issues. SO I have replaced the memory chip again. Still showing up as memory issues.
You have mentioned this could be a cpu or memory controller. If this is the memory controller can this be replaced? or would a motherboard replacement be the best option?
I have not tried a re install of windows 7 32 bit as yet, As the memtest86 program has identified possible memory issues. Please can some one advise if replacing the cpu and possible memory controller would resolve this. Memtest log available if wanted.

  • NB200 - Bluetooth BSOD IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

I have plugged my bluetooth dongle in, the hardware was installed, then toshiba drivers were installed.
When i try to pair, or send/receive via bluetooth i get bsod - IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL.
could this be down to the cheap nasty dongle i have (99p from taiwan off ebay) or perhaps due to the fact i seem to have microsoft bluetooth and toshiba bluetooth both on the laptop?

    Hi
I think this BSOD appears due to software conflict.
It seems like some compatibility issue between hardware resources.
    >There does seem to be alot of toshiba bluetooth software preloaded, i'm confused why this is, why would they put both on if they cant work together!!?
The NB200-12U does not support internal BlueTooth module but the software (Toshiba BT stack) was installed because its part of the image and the same image was installed on NB200 notebooks which were equipped with internal BT module too.
Maybe you should remove eh BT software from the system before installing this new BT dongle.

  • Blue Screens, Vista 32-Bit. IRQL Not Less or Equ

Hi, before I begin, I'd like to thank anyone who can help for any assistance provided. This is my first system build and I've been running Vista for less than an hour (And it took about 0 installation attempts to do this), so forgive me for my lack of knowledge in this category. Basically whenever I try to install the drivers, I get a blue screen error that says IRQL Not Less or Equal. My system is as follows:
Creative X-Fi Fatalty Sound Card (The one with the front bezel and remote)
ASUS P5N-E SLI nForce 650i Chipset Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz, Overclocked to 3.0GHz with Zalman CNPS9700 LED.
    2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 RAM, Overclocked to 870MHz.
eVGA 8800GTS 320MB Graphics Card, Overclocked to 65 Core, 900 Memory
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.0 320GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Dri've
Samsung Write Master 8X DVD-RAM Lightscribe SATA Dri've
Basically, as I glimpsed through the posts I saw someone saying their 8800GTS conflicted with the X-Fi in Vista, so that's likely my problem.
Any time I installed the drivers, the blue screen happened before setup appeared to finish. Vista wouldn't boot after that and I had to use system restore from my Install DVD. I've tried undoing my overclocks but it does nothing... I doubted it would make any difference anyway though. I have no clue what to do to fix this, but if there is a possible way, it would help if it was a step-by-step thing because I'm unfamiliar with Vista, driver modification, or whatever else this will require.
Thanks again in advance for any assistance you can provide. I do appreciate it very much and am excited to get the card working again so I can resume gaming.
    - Beau

Ok, by disabling my sound on my motherboard, I successfully got past this error. But now I noticed that it's interfering with my Logitech keyboard and mouse set. Basically what happened is that they stopped working and the driver install never finished (It appeared as if that program froze in action), while my mouse and keyboard were rendered useless. I restarted and did a system restore and installed the drivers for my logitech set, but now it's saying that I have not restarted since installing drivers when I attempt to install the creative drivers, despite restarting several times. Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks again.
    - Beau
Edit: After reading some of the other posts in this board, I would like to add that I understand that asking for X-Fi help on Vista is like asking for help in New Orleans after being in Hurricane Katrina, but I really would appreciate assistance to help getting things working.Message Edited by Supercoolyo on 07--200706:49 PM

  • IRQL Not Less Than Or Equal To [ B.S.O.D. ]

Okay, I really hope this is the right place for help, because I'm growing increasingly frustrated. Where to begin?...
Ah, alright. So, I just recently bought this computer in Janurary, and it was working fine until a few weeks ago.I shut the laptop and when I turned it on, it gave me the Blue Screen of Death. I started it up in Safe Mode, and found that this was the problem.
" Files that help describe the problem:
      C:\Windows\Minidump\032812-54335-01.dmp
      C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-92992-0.sysdata.xml
I cleaned my temp files, but had to allow administrative permission to delete the latter. I'm not sure if I took care of the first one, but I went in and deleted stuff in the Disk Cleanup, and 'minidump' was in there...So maybe?
And I was hoping it would be okay. WELL, it was for an hour, but then I shut the laptop again and it brought the B.S.O.D  up yet again, only with the IRQL etc thing.
I...don't have any idea about how any of that coding information, whatever it is, so...I ...Just have no idea.
    Help. ;

    Hi,
In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
-- %systemroot% is the environment variable for your Windows directory. For example, C:\Windows.
    2. Copy any and all .DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop, create a new folder on the Desktop to put these .DMP files in, and then zip the folder. You can then either use a 3rd party tool such as 7-Zip/Winrar, or you can use Windows'
    default method of zipping folders.
Compress and uncompress files (zip files).
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUpUtilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon use. With this said, if you've run such software, and your Minidump folder is empty, you will need
to allow the system to crash once again to generate a crash dump.
    3. Upload the .ZIP containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply.
Preferred sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers, download managers, etc.
4 (optional): The type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel Memory Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference
between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel Memory Dumps in the simplest definition is a Kernel Memory Dump contains
much more information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel Memory Dump is
the best choice. Do note that Kernel Memory Dumps are much larger
in size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
After doing that, to learn how to share the link to the file if you are unaware, please visit the following link -
Share files and folders and change permissions and view 'Get a link'.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type %systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for
    all drives'.
    3. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the
    system log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than
Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.
If you cannot get into normal mode to do any of this, please do this via Safe Mode.

    Patrick

  • Windows update causing BSOD in my new B50-30 with DRIVER-IRQL error

Hi folks - I'm really hoping someone else has found a way to deal with a similar issue.
I bought a b50-30 about three weeks ago, and everything has been fine until the latest rounds of Windows updates. During the normal update blue screen, It got stuck (I gave it 24 hours just in case!) on "update 5 of 31", so I eventually had to force restart. That led to a blue screen with the annoying smiley emoticon for a frown, and it claimed to be "collecting some error I fo and then we'll restart for you" but it showed a 0% progress reading, which didn't change during the 12 hours I (patiently) let it run. The specific error message was DRIVER-IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL. Eventually I force-restarted a second time and went into Safe Mode, and the updates appeared to restart and make progress. Eventually the computer started normally again. Victory?
All was fine for a week, and then the bloody thing got stuck on the next round of infernal Windows updates, this time not getting past "28 of 61 updates". When I force restart, I get the BSOD with the same DRIVER-IRQL error message and the same 0% progress reading that won't make progress no matter how long I leave it. Unfortunately, this time, opening in safe mode won't work for me, as it merely brings me back to the identical BSOD screen. Now I have no way to restart the bloody thing at all (other than going for a full recovery, which I'm hoping to be able to avoid). I also tried the "refresh" function, which went through the percentage progress fully, but resulted in the same BSOD. Interestingly, it won't allow me to "restore".
Does anyone have any brilliant advice, other than throwing it out a window and never buying either Lenovo or Windows again?
    Thanks all
    EJS

    hi Arie,
    Welcome to the Forums.
If you;re able to see the SSD in the BIOS and/or see it under Disk Management while using the stock HDD then you may want to consider the following:
    1. Boot from the stock HDD and update the BIOS
    BIOS Update Utility - Ideapad 305-15IBY, Lenovo B40-30, B50-30, B50-30 touch, E40-30 Laptops
    2. Update the SSD's firmware to  MU02 (latest as of this writing).
    http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-ssd-firmware
    3. Using the stock HDD, connect the Crucial SSD and convert the volume to MBR first to see if there's a compatibility using the drive as GPT.
If none of the above methods works then there's likely a compatibility issue with the SSD's controller and/or the BIOS (similar to this thread). In this case, consider using a different brand (e.g., Samsung) and observe.

  • BSOD Driver IRQL Less than or not equal to

I've been trying to install the 64 bit version of windows 7 rc.  when booting from the cd, it goes through 2 loading files screens, then the black starting windows screen, after a brief pause it does to a blue screen of death.  With a Driver irql less then or not equal to.  and lists storport.sys at the bottom for the reason.
Ive been searching, and found in vista this was a problem with nvidia chipsets(i have), and more than 2 gigs of ram(i have 4).  I'm going to try removing a stick of ram to see if it gets past it, but could there be any other problems causing it.  I also ran the extensive windows memory test, 1 pass through it found no errors.
    Asus p5n 32 e sli
    4 gigs of ram corsair
    nvdia 8600 gts
wd velociraptor partioned 70 gigs for w7 rc
    core 2 due e4400 2.0ghz

What I can recommend is you keep the machine's config a bit more "simple" for the installer to be more comfortable with it.
    Use an old systembuilder trick:
    - remove all physical hardware devices from the m/b you can remove, make it completely naked
    - start up the system with the installer with as little as hardware connected as possible
    - when it is OK, shut down, add 1 other hardware piece
    - when that's OK too, add another and repeat this cycle for as many hardware you want to connect
This makes it possible to diagnose on which hardware config exactly the installer fails or at which point you get the "irql less or equal" error.
Also make a note for yourself what your default BIOS configuration is, so you can play around with the options and later revert back to them.
Remember, this RC is a testing system. This is not the RTM yet. We should deploy it as such and only use it for testing deployments. As such it is great (and for free) - at least here it goes like a sun.

  • Fusion drive DIY not using SSD

    Hello community,
Recently I have bought a SSD drive for my Mac Mini 2012, in order to make a dual hard drive installation ready to build a DIY Fusion Drive with Disk Utility. Apparently it works well, I have installed Yosemite without any problems and been using the Mac Mini normally. The problem is that it's very slow performance when it needs to read/write from disk, I've got around 40mb/s read and 35mb/s write speeds on BlackMagic disk speed tests.
In addition, checking the installation of the drives running "diskutil list" from command line (which tells me that disk0 is the SSD and disk1 is the HDD), and the disk usage with "iostat disk0 disk1 1" I can see that the OS is not really using disk0 but disk1 for all disk operations.
I noticed that eventually disk0 has movement but 99% activity is in disk1 (HDD). I believe that the normal behavior of a Fusion Drive is using SSD mainly and HDD in second instance for "not-cached" or less used files, but I am experiencing the opposite behavior.
The model of the SSD is Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB.
Please give me any advice about this issue.
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards.

    Thanks for your replies.

    Mac-mini-de-Arturo:~ Bayo$ diskutil cs list
