Driver issue in Device manager

I can not find the driver that goes with the PCI Serial Port in the device manager?
How can I find this driver for an Elitebook 8460p?

Hi:
See the next to the last post on the below thread from the HP Business Support Forum, which hopefully will work for you too.

  • Pavillion dv9810us DVD/CD-ROM Drive and Vista Device Manager Question.....HELP!!!!!

I have a Laptop, just over a year old, runs Vista Home Premium SP2. Here is the scenario
Hadn't used the DVD/CD-ROM drive for 3 or 4 weeks at which time it worked fine. Tried to use it a couple of days ago and discovered it wouldn't respond. I figured I needed to maybe rollback the Driver or something. I checked in the Device Manager and saw the main HDD was listed but there was no DVD/CD-ROM drive in the Device Manager List. Does Vista remove the DVD/CD-ROM drive if it's inoperable (DEAD) or has something happened that removed the Device from the List. I've had Drives go South before in Windows 98 and 2000 but they were never removed from the Device Manager List they just didn't work but I know Vista is a OS of a different color so I don't know. Just trying to figure out if I'm fighting a Hardware or Software fight here, I'm at a loss and can't afford to just take it into a shop for diagnosis. Any answers or tip on how to definitly isolate the problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any Help.

I have the same problem, dvdrw not showing in device manager.  Bought a new TS-L632N dvdrw by TSST and it still does not show in device manager.  This started after I ordered new recovery disk from HO (vista Home Preminum) and reloaded the OS.  I know HP knows about this problem but will not do anything about it.  Online support not good and a 500 dollar repair bill would be a waste when you can buy a new laptopn for that.

  • Drive appears in device manager but not in My Computer

I just wanted to post a solution that took me about 2 hrs to solve. Issue was, my firewire WD TB drive would be seen, by XP (SP3) on boot camp, in xp's device manager but not in My Computer. My goal was to format this as an NTFS drive for my boot camp files. I was unable to format this in Leopard as ntfs either. I tried installing HD drivers and formatting from leopard as FAT32 (just so Windows would see it) but all failed.
The solution I used was as below. (this would not work if you want to retain data on the drive, I didn't care as I was setting up an old drive and reformatting from scratch). Solution:
    - Download free 10-day trial of Paragon's NFTS for Mac.
    - Install on Leopard (note app seems sparse after download as if it didn't work) but... then...
    - Open Disk Utility, you'll notice more options under Erase>Format Options drop down. Paragon acts like a plugin it seems and gives Disk Utility NTFS format options. Don't erase yet...
    - Go to Partition tab, Select 1 partition and the options and select Master Boot Record and partition. (Win XP didn't see my 2nd partition when I did this so maybe it can only see the one). Anyhow create 1 big MBR partition.
    - Then, go back to erase if you want and zero out.
Drive should then appear when you restart in XP.
I reformatted here from xp too just to be sure that the drive would be fully xp compatible though not sure this would be necessary.
BTW - I also had a 120GB usb drive with the same issue. For some reason with this one I was able to simply erase as FAT32 from leopard without the Paragon plugin and it showed up in XP. Go figure.

    Hi Simnap,
Unfortunately Windows XP can only read hard drives that are 2 TB's or less due to barriers set in place by the age of the operating system and the hardware of that time period, even if its still used now. So you may have to partition the drive into (2) 2 TB's or (4) 1 TB's in order for XP to see it. Mac OS X supports 4 TB and above, just not XP.

  • Bluetooth driver uninstalled from device manager

This has been highly frustrating but here goes, I recently bought a small bluetooth dongle from ebay that came with no drivers as it is labeled as plug and play, when I plugged it into my laptop it found it straight away but installed it as a bluetooth radio, i was advised by a friend to uninstall the bluetooth radio driver from device manager and download bluesoleil which is what i did. now blue soleil does not recognise the device and the laptop tells me Usb Device Not Recognized, i have searched and searched for fixes but nothing has helped, could anyone advise or provide me with the correct software, this is not a branded device either so device specific software  is unavailable.
Please help, p.s im using windows xp sp3.
    Thanks

Just download the latest Bluetooth stack for your operating system. Extract the it and execute the exe file. Follow the instructions.
You can transfer your files easily by using the file exporer when the bluetooth software is installed again.
Just right-click on the file which should be sent and select "to Bluetooth" from the context menu ...
    or
Right click on the bluetooth icon in the system tray can select Bluetooth Information Exchanger. Discover the bluetooth devices by using the Bluetooth menu and use e.g. the OPP folder to drag and drop the file to you mobile phone. You can also use ftp if you mobile phone supports it. You can transfer
serveral files at once with it.
    or
just use the synchronisation software if your mobile phone offers one.

  • Bootcamp bluetooth driver issue ("This device cannot start. (Code 10)")

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem (re)pairing my Apple mighty mouse with Windows 7 under Bootcamp.
Initially I had my mouse working through updating the driver to the one from Apple as is described on various forums.
After rebooting my laptop the mouse didn’t connect anymore. So I tried to repeat updating the driver to the apple one. But this time it didn’t work.
I then updated the Bootcamp drivers from the OSX installation disc.
Then, when I checked the hardware, it showed:
    Apple Built-in Bluetooth
    Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Under these setting my computer still doesn’t detect my mouse under windows.
So I checked to see if I could update my drivers again. This time there were four instead of two:
    Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth version 3.1.0.1 [23-11-2009]
    Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth version 4.0.0.1 [27-4-2011]
    Apple Built-in Bluetooth
    Apple Built-in BluetoothDFU
First there were only the first two. Of these two, the first one worked for the first time I paired my mouse.
When I change the driver to any of the three other than the Apple Built-in Bluetooth, it says:
“Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device” with this error:
“This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
After trying this, the initially set driver (Apple Built-in Bluetooth) gives the same error. Resulting in having to reinstall all the drivers all over again.
Anyone encountered the same problem or at least the error of “This device cannot start. (Code 10)"?
    Thanks.

What kind of reinmstall did you perform?  If you used the recovery media, then this will be pretty simple. Boot to the recovewry media again and this time select the Reinstall drivers and applications option. Find the audio driver on the list of available drivers, put a tick in the box to its left and then click on the install button in the lower right hand corner of the window. The driver will be installed.  Your list will be different than the following one, but this is only an example.

I recently purchased my iPod touch with no issues. After updating to iOS 8.1.1 I found that my iPod would no longer appear in the latest version of iTunes and when I searched for Apple Mobile Device usb driver in the device manager, it was nowhere to be found. • Lenovo S410p accidentally deleted NVIDIA Driver from device manager

    Hello,
I "accidentally" uninstalled my NVIDIA GeForce 720M driver from my device manager when I tried to reinstall the driver. Now it no longer shows up on the device manager at all, and I cannot install any driver since the laptop does not detect it anymore.
I am running Windows 8.1 64bit on a Lenovo ideapad s410p laptop. The only graphics driver detected is the intel one. And since I'm using a laptop, re-plugging in the graphics card is not really a feasible option either...
System restore does not work (The oldest backup, somehow, is AFTER the uninstallation), and I really do not want to resort to factory reset... And of course, before the uninstallation, the driver worked just fine.
Is there any way I can force the laptop to detect the GPU again? I am pretty sure the hardware is working fine, just undetected
Please help, I have no idea what else to do at this point. Thank you in advance..

    hi Votbear,
    Welcome to lenovo Community Forums!
Can you check under Drive D: if you still have the drivers folder back up
Try looking for the Video Graphics driver installer and install that.
In case you can't find the driver folder or the system does not have a D: drive
Try downloading the driver here, see if those work

  • DVD-ROM drive Code 37 error message in device manager on Satellite M30

    Hi
I am new to this forum and wonder if anyone can help? I have a Satellite M 30-106 which has the CD indicated above installed. At present it will not work at all when I go to Device manager the error massage I get is as follow "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)".
Can someone offer me some advice please.
    Thanks
    Trevor

    Hi
I have investigated in the Microsoft knowledge base and it seems that this error appears because the driver returned failure from its Driver Entry routine.
I think you should uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.
You can do this in the device manager. In another way you could remove the drive from the device manager list and after new notebook reboot the OS should recognize the drive again.
After this procedure you should test the device if it will work.

  • IOS device not recognized in iTunes, Windows  7 Computer, or Device Manager

Sometime last week, I ran the updates for my computer. When I plugged in my iPod Touch afterwards, it would not connect to iTunes, although on the iPod itself, I could see it was connected based on the "charging" symbol on the battery icon. So I checked if my computer recognized it as a "Device with removable memory in the computer. Only "DVD RW Drive (E)" showed up and under the "Other" section only showed my iCloud Photos folder. I also checked the device manager for any drive with the name Apple- none. I have only 2 USB ports on my computer, and I've switched between them over and over. No result. I have checked the hardware id's on all my USB drives in the device manager, and I only find the HP TrueVision camera on my laptop.
After a couple of hours browsing through the support forums, I was able to restore the driver, thus allowing my iPod to be recognized again by the computer and iTunes.
on 10/14/13 I ran the installation for updates again, and the same problem occured with my iPod. So I went through the same steps from last week, but this time, no changes. I still cant get the drive back on my device manager. I've gone through all the support pages pertaining to anything and everything about this issue, and still, everything I tried from and simple computer restore to a clean boot has still rendered no results. I know my USB cable works because im able to charge my iPod from any outlet (computer, A/C adapter, car adapter) and sadly I do not have the means to try on another computer.
    I have a HP 64-bit Computer running Windows 7 service pack 1.
    iTunes version 11.1 currently installed.
iPod Touch 4th Generation iOS version 6.1.3.
The Apple Mobile Device Support is installed.
    Can someone heplp me?

Have you tried to give your iPod  a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
Have you tried different USB ports? Rebooted your computer?
Uninstalled and then reinstalled iTunes? (You won't lose content if you uninstall)

  • Device Manager HP Printer ! Symbol, Windows "failed to connect" Sound- Yet Printer Works

Every startup, I hear the Windows "device failed to connect" sound.  How can I get rid of this?
I have an HP J6480 Printer with WIn 7.  Device Manager is not recognizing the printer driver.
Under Device Manager, the printer is listed with the ! error symbol.  No other devices have an error symbol.  Yet the HP Solution Center and printer work.
    1)  I have tried fresh installs of the current HP Full Feature Software.
    2) I have tried the HP Uninstall program, going through all five Uninstall programs two times.
    3) I have run CCleaner to clear registry issues.
    4) I have tried deleting the Device Manager "Officejet ! J6400 series" entry.  The Solution Center and the printer then do not work.  Apparently, Device Manager recognizes the printer but not the driver.  I have to go to "Programs", "HP", then "Officejet J6400 Series" to reinstall the software.
    5) I have tried to get Device Manager to recognize the software.  When I click on "! Officejet 6400 series",  I get the message "the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)".  If I then click on "Update Driver" and select" Browse my computer for driver software" then click on "Browse "C:\Users\Myname\Downloads", where I have both the HP 13.0 Full Feature Sofware Software and the Basic Print and Scan Driver files, it says "Windows cannot find driver software".   If i click on "Search automatically for driver software" I get the same message.
I would very much appreciate any ideas!  Thank you!

  • Re: Cd/DVD drive issue - error code 39 on Satellite P series

    Hi,
This is my first request for help.
My CD/DVD drive is no longer recognized and when I go to Device Manager and click on CD/DVD I am informed that the file cdrom.sys is there but cannot be loaded.
An error number 39 is reported.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated but please keep it simple to one line actions if possible.

Of course you can get some advices ;)
I think you would find it faster if you would search in the forum firstly but I will try to help you too.
    There error code 39 is very common issue and can be solved easy;
Check this MS knowledge base article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us
So firstly remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager.
Then access the registry using the regedit command and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Reboot the notebook and wait till the CD/DVD drive was installed again.
    Thats it. ;)

  • CD/DVD drive issue on Satellite L notebook - error code Code 39

    Hi,
Could anyone tell me if there is an updated driver for the TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA Device? The device is not available as a selectable drive and in device manager it reports the following error:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
I have removed the device and the driver, however on scanning for hardware; vista re-installs the default driver and the same error returns.
Because of this error, I am unable to update the firmware for the drive and the firmware update is unable to see the drive.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi buddy
What to saythis issue is known and caused by wrong Windows registry entries.
Microsoft has released and published some knowledge articles.
    Check this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us
First of all I recommend removing the CD/DVD drive from the device list in device manager. Then remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    Finally reboot the notebook.
    Thats all.
PS: you would find this solution also without my help. You should use the forum search function! Its helpful!
