Driver missing on Vista 64 bit.

I'm using a First Gen iPhone on a MacPro to sync pics and music, that part works fine. The device is using software version 2.1, and iTunes 8.0.1(11) on the Mac side.
My business uses an Exchange server (no push at this time, though), so I set up a Vista Business 64 bit virtual machine in VMWare Fusion for manually syncing contacts and calendar from my Outlook 2007. I installed iTunes 8.0.1.11 for Vista64.
Now here's where it gets weird:
I connect my iPhone, and a box appears that says "USB Device Not Recongized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message." I click the box, and it tells me that it thinks it's an Unknown Device. How helpful.
I go into the Device Manager and under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is "Unknown Device". When I check it's properties, it says that "No drivers are installed for this device.". I've tried uninstalling it, and then having the machine look for new devices, and it always appears as an Unknown Device with no drivers installed.
I've gone through the whole process (mentioned elsewhere on these boards) of stripping down the entire system of everything Apple related and reinstalling iTunes from scratch, to no avail. It just won't install a driver for the iPhone.
The process worked flawlessly on an XP virtual machine, so I know the problem is not hardware related.
Does anyone have any ideas on where I can locate the drivers for the iPhone and how to "force" Vista64 to install a driver for it?

*I didn't have no problems at all useing my vista computer with my phone it went right to it and stated running right. You might need to think about calling the company who made the computer cause they can be on the phone with you and work on your computer why you are looking at them do everything.*
*+I think that will fix's your problem if it don't they will tell you what you need to do about this,But I'M pretty sure that when they go in to your computer they will fix's the problem for you.+*
*+Have you tryed a different usb on your computer it could be something is wrong with the usb port,So try other one and see if the work+*

  • Getting Driver for windows vista 64 bit

    Dear All,
I have a toshiba satallite l505 laptop, I just bought a modem called hsdpa 3.5 G USB modem.
The modem works well on every other windows { (XP and Vista) 32bit} But it does not work on my laptop pc 64bit.
The reason is that the driver is not 32 bit compatable. I have even tried to copy the installed driver from Vista 32 bit. to the 64 bit. Still it still the not work . I keep getting an error that the driver found is not meant for the platform I trying to use it on. Can anymore help or guide me on how I can get this driver to install and work on my 64 latop please.
NOte: I have to search the maker website , but still not I am not able to even find the maker. but In the driver file I found that it was qualcomm that showed, I went to qualcimm . Alas I found nothing useful.

  • Satellite A210-16G Mass Storage Controller driver for Windows Vista 32-bit

Hello, I need Toshiba Satellite A210-16G Mass Storage Controller driver for Windows Vista 32-bit. If you have setup file, please redirect me, if you have any other file, please explain me where to install it.

If I were you I would take look to the Drivers Download site of the Toshiba mainpage, because there you can find everything you need.
The mass storage controller can either be the HDD controller or the SD-card controller. I would download both of them.

  • Windows 7 RC installation on MacBook Pro: 'DVD drive device driver missing'

I'm trying to install the Windows 7 RC on my unibody MacBook Pro (purchased november 2008). I create the partition in Boot Camp, insert the install DVD, and restart the system. Then the Windows setup starts as it's supposed to (Windows is loading files). The install program launches fine, and I get to choose language settings.
And now it all fails. After I've chosen language settings, I get the message: "A required CD(DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
    Screenshot of the message: http://img25.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00102yyh.jpg
I'm kinda baffled by this message. Obviously the drive can be use by the install program, but it still complains of a missing driver. I had no trouble installing the Windows 7 beta earlier this year.
I've done some googling, and it appears to be problem experienced by some others. Someone had the issue on an Asus machine (I think), and the solution was to download the driver and out it on a USB stick. But I can't seem to find the driver for the MBP DVD drive anywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

After countless days trying to solve this problem, I feel I can now add to the few solutions presented on the various forums of the internet. I'll post here because 1: i'm a mac user for everyday life although like most have as many pc's as well. 2: I already have a login for these forums!
okay so i tried everything from re-burns to usb install (which I could not complete because removable drives are not recognized by xp and I don't have a vista system). The problem for me ended up being because the DVD drive was plugged into the primary master ide channel. My hard drive for the unit i was installing windows on is sata and was configured as such (not bridged into IDE channel by bios). So in a nutshell it seems like the hard drive and the DVD drive are nit picky in regards to the IDE configuration of the drives themselves. This won't help for virtualization on a mac pro I realize but nonetheless is food for thought hopefully for all the people searching for " windows 7 install cd/dvd device driver missing " in their search engine!
Oh boy one more reason to love mac's

  • Windows 8.1 - T530 - Base Device Driver missing!

    Hi guys,
Been working to solve this base device driver missing in my T530 image since couple of hours now. I've searched a lot and seen many threads talking about this problem. Tried every solution I ran into but nothing worked so far.
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E822
Form what I know, this should be a Ricoh Media Card Reader driver. I think I tried like 10 drivers from Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, 32 bits and 64 bits and nothing worked so far. Tried Smart Card reader driver too.
All Windows Update are installed at the moment.
    Any clue to help me?
    Best regards

I don't know what is the Have Disk...!
Yesterday... we managed to install the driver using the Ricoh Media Card Reader Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit) 25 mars 2014. I could swear I had tried them all... So I took the extracted files and added them to the imaging thingy and it doesn't work anymore!
I did Windows Update on the T530. I did try to manually and auto install using the same driver but it won't work anymore
    Any clue?

  • N91 driver issue ~ Windows vista !

    Hey there !
    N91 driver issue ~ Windows vista !
i recently upgraded my OS fro XP pro to vista ultimate,
carrying all the program files and settings,
but then the nokia pc suite in vista didn't recognize or load drivers for N91, when connected as
    (1.) pc sync
    (2.) USB hdd.
so in -all pc suite wasn't running.
so i uninstalled and re-installed pc suite,
now it does connect and loads drivers when connected as
    (1.) pc sync
but doesn't loads drivers (keeps on searching~ from CD and windows update) as a USB HDD,
so I can't drag and drop my files in it.
    any solution to this !

The combination is complicated - VISTA / PCSuite 6.83...
Both are not reference of good behavior.
On Vista, miss a lot of drivers, even for N91, and PCSuite 6.83 is unstable and unreliable. So maybe, you don´t have a problem, and need to leave with that until both, or at least one of then have an upgrade.

  • How to install driver on a 64 bit system to access a networked printer connected to a 32 bit pc?

Did a clean install of 64 bit Windows 7 and tried to connect to Deskjet printer connected to a 32 bit Windows 7 system on home network. Said to install from Windows installation DVD but no such animal on DVD. HP error only talked about USB connection and said nothing about network. Hookup worked fine when everything was 32 bit.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sorry, that wasn't clear at all. I would use the 64 bit machine to go on the internet and download the latest 64 bit driver for the printer. Just run the setup on the 64 bit machine and I believe it will give you the option to search for a shared printer.  You must use the 64 bit version of the printer driver on the 64 bit machine.  The driver is just telling the 64 bit machine how to communicate with the printer no matter where it is.

  • How to Install 64-bit "Generic / Text Only" print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server?

    Hi All,
In a nutshell, I need to Install the 64-bit Generic / Text Only print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server’s “Generic / Text Only 32-bit print queue.
The problem is that there is no Driver-Disk to get the drivers. I’ve been able to isolate 14 files related to the 64 bit drivers from a Windows 7 x64 computer and copy them to a temp folder on the Windows 2003 x32 server. When I try to add the 64 bit driver
to the Windows 2003 x32 server,  it wants a *.inf file, which I don’t have and can’t find.
Because Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP, my client is replacing all of their Point-of-Sale Windows XP x32 systems with Windows 7 x64. They use Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) to connect to a Windows 2003 x32 server to use the POS system. The
POS software redirects LPT1 back to the local Generic / Text Only printer. This works great for XP x32.
When we use the Terminal Services POS software on the new Windows 7 x64 system, none of the labels print out because it’s redirected in 32-bit back to the local Windows 7 x64 Generic / Text Only 64-bit printer.
This will be a huge issue for me if I can’t get this to work.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help! -Rob

  • Are HFS+ formatted drives compatible with VISTA?

Can't get my USB HD to work wireless via Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11n.
Apple manual says USB HD needs FAT32 format to work with VISTA. Found freeware to accomplish this-- http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
and successfully formatted the 500GB HD to FAT32 in a single partition--
BUT, the setup still did NOT work correctly. I could now see the drive from within VISTA, but my test write/save to the USB HD wirelessly via AEX failed-- Microsoft Word froze. Test of Microsoft Word file COPIED from laptop's HD to USB HD via AEX appeared to work. But when COPIED file opened, Word program froze again.
Then today I read the following on Wikipedia: "On Windows, a fairly complete filesystem driver for HFS+ exists as a commercial software package called MacDrive. This package allows Windows users to read and write HFS+ formatted drives, and read Mac format optical disks. [9]
A free alternative to MacDrive is HFSExplorer [1] written by Erik Larsson. HFSExplorer is a useful application for viewing and extracting files from an HFS+ volume (Mac OS Extended) or an HFSX volume (Mac OS Extended, Case-sensitive) located either on a physical disk, on a .dmg disk image, or in a raw file system dump."
Wow, imagine my surprise, given that Apple says to format FAT32. If the Wikipedia info is correct, forget FAT32 and its limit of 4GB file size. HSF+ would be a much better format than FAT32 if it's truly compatible. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience on this issue? I really want to be able to backup wirelessly from VISTA and via my AEX, which I otherwise love! Thanks for any help on the issue.

I have been at it today as well
HFS is the better compatible format for VISTA. You can drag the files, but there is no way of having a software backit up for you. The drive will show up As Network Drive and i have been trying for the past 5 hours to figure out how to make it possible. After numerous attempts i gaave up.
So i came down to dragging and dropping the files i want to back up instead.
    Good luck

I need appleisightinstaller.exe to install the isight driver for Windows Vista running in Parallel Desktop 6 for Mac, but I don't have a Leopard DVD. What came with my Macbook Air was a flash stick "MacBook Air Software Reinstall Drive" only.

    All,
A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.
So happy to be done w/this one!
Thx everyone. Any additional input on what solved it is welcome, so my curiosity is quelled...
