  • Requirements for JDBC Driver needed for SOA 8 }connection pool

    Hi,
I have an AS400 jdbc driver. This driver is JDBC API version 2.x. Also is a Driver Type 4.
What are the requirements of a JDBC Driver needed for connection pool in SOA 8?
    Thanks.
    Lorenzo Jimenez

You can use pretty much any jdbc driver, including type 2 and type 4.
You need to make sure your shared libraries needed by the driver are available to the appserver when you boot.
Other than that, it is no different than configuring any other driver.

  • Optical audio and surround sound speakers for my Mac Pro

In the back of my Mac Pro there's an in and out for Optical Audio. What is this and are there any surround sound speaker systems out there that will plug into it? Most surround sound speakers seem to require a PC-style triple-input, with three jacks (Green to front, Orange to centre and Black to rear channels). Very few surround sound systems have the additional option for a single headphone socket-style jack, and I'm not sure if they will work terribly well with this single connection.
Can anyone recommend some speaker choices, particularly in the UK, that will give me good surround sound from the optical audio or single headphone jacks? Many thanks.

You might want to look at a device called the Griffin FireWave: [http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/firewave]
It connects to your MacPro via firewire, and has the green/orange/black jacks out to a standard 5.1 speaker system.
It comes with a software application that lets you customize the sound, and also synthesize surround from mono, stereo, etc., sources.
It would definitely open up your choices for speaker systems. I'm using one with a Klipsch 5.1 Promedia set of speakers. Works and sounds great.

  • Connecting my MacBook Pro to my DVD Surround Sound Speakers?

I'm a student filmmaker in the UK and pretty much do all my video editing from my bedroom using Final Cut Studio. I am using a MacBook Pro3,1 (bought in 2007) and have recently decided that I want to start working in 5.1 surround sound.
As I have no surround sound speakers with my MacBook Pro, I was wondering if it would be possible to connect it up to my DVD surround sound system? This would ultimately save me having to buy a compatible set and having two lots of surround sound speakers around my room...
My DVD player is a Panasonic SC-PT150. The 6 surround sound speakers each connect to it through the standard +/- "clip-in" wire set up (which, obviously isn't compatible with my MacBook Pro). There are also two AUX sockets (one for Left and one for Right) on the back of the DVD player. So far, I have tried connecting my MacBook Pro to these sockets using a Mini plug to RCA cable, however, all I get is an incredibly loud humming noise.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might, either overcome this problem or, get the setup to work another way? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks both of you for your help.
It doesn't mention either of those connections in the manual, however, yes you are right, it takes digital input. I'll have to call and check if the toslink cable is compatible.
I tried connecting the mini-stereo-to-RCA cable to my Nokia phone (which is actually where the cable came from) and that plays through the DVD speakers just fine, when i select AUX mode. Although, as you said, it only plays stereo.
Say the mini-toslink cable is compatible, would I need to get a 5.1 surround sound card for my MBP?
    Thanks again.

  • 5.1 surround sound speakers

I have these Logitech 5.1 Surround Sound speakers and it would be +really nice+ if I could hook up my Santa Rosa Macbook Pro to them. The speakers have three input cables, and the Macbook has one. What kind of converter would I need?

I've read this because I have a Z-5300 (Logitech) 5.1 speaker set, and I want to hook it to my MBP. Of course, only having the 1/8mm audio and the digital out - we have a predicament. How to get 5.1 sound from a stereo jack. In the above post, the soundblaster USB audio device is recommended - however Creative doesn't support OS X 10.5 - in fact no Mac OS at all. Will this device work for me, or is there a better device sub $100 that will do the job for me? I'd love to have my speakers hooked back up - and don't want to get a different set, but will if I have to .... please advise.

  • HT6067 How can I connect 5.1 surround sound speakers to my Mac Pro?

How to connect 5.1 surround sound speakers without a receiver to my Mac Pro, so I can test and hear surround sound files I am creating?

As far as I know, the only way to do that is with the digital out, toslink I believe(1). . Currently there are very few external usb soundcards that are known to work with Mac and produce 5.1 sound, perhaps Diamond Multimedia or Zalman?. Analog surround really doesn't work (green, yellow, black cords)*. So, maybe, Garage band/VLC? or the dvd player might be the only things I know that could produce 5.1 sound, but I could be wrong.......
    (1) You will  need a speaker set with an optical input...
    * maybe try this--i think it's called an " HD audio rush " box and it converts digital to analog audio 5.1 supposedly-, you can look on ebay for similar things
sorry I couldn't be of more help

  • ATV and Surround Sound Speakers

    Hi gang,
I'm looking to hook up a surround sound system and I'd like to have it so my iPod/iMac/iPad can wifi play over the sound system. I've got a Samsung Plasma TV with the following things hooked up:
    - Current gen Apple TV
    - PS3
    - Wii
    - Comcast DVR
    - Sony DVD player
I'm thinking I just need something that runs from the TV to the surround sound speakers, but not sure about how to play music by wifi through the speakers. I'm no tech wiz, so I'm looking for an out of the box solution if at all possible. Any thoughts / inputs?

Unless the TV has the option to output surround sound to a receiver (most don't) you would put the receiver in front of the TV in the chain and have all your other devices feed into the receiver, using the receiver to switch inputs to the TV rather than the TV itself.
Your current Apple TV would take care of all the streaming from your iPod, iPhone and iMac.
When considering a receiver take account of all the inputs you require as a result of all the devices you wish to play through it.

  • Using sky go from Mac air to TV and surround sound speakers

I have skygo, and want to watch it on my tv through HDMI cable, can I use logitech surround sound pc speakers too somehow?

As your TV has HDMI inputs which will support sound as well as video, use a MiniDisplay port to HDMI cable (Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable by Cablesson works great)  or a MiniDisplay port to HDMI adaptor and HDMI to HDMI if not. Just make sure the adaptor supports audio as well as video. Just select HDMI in the Preferences Sound
And yes, you could use your surround sound speakers via the 3.5 mm headphone jack, just make sure you select this option in Preferences Sound if you're not using the HDMI for sound

  • 5.1 Surround Sound speakers not working since 7.1 downloaded

I'm not sure what is causing it...But I cannot get my surround sound speakers working with ITunes since I down loaded 7.1. They all work with Windows media player. Is therre any setting I should be aware of?
    Dell Dimension E510   Windows XP

I have the same problem and it is driving me crazy. I have an older logitech quadraphonic Z-560 speaker system that I love and have been using for years with never any problems, until I installed Itunes 7.
At first after the upgrade I was completely unable to play any file at all, which was later resolved by updating my SoundBlaster live Audigy card drivers. Now I can at least listen to music but only out of my front 2 speakers. I also noticed my QuickTime player does the same thing only playing out of the 2 front speakers. The issue only exists when trying to play audio through these 2 programs.
I have read all the posts on this issue that I could find yet have not been able to resolve it. I changed all the QuickTime, and creative settings appropriately for my hardware and no luck. I'm running the most current version of divers on windows XP with SP1.
Is it simply an incompatibility issue with my sound card?
    PLEASE HELP with any advice!!!

  • Why do Creative no longer make Surround Sound Speakers?

It's been years since Creative made any high-end surround sound speakers. Why has nothing new come out in the meantime? No 7.1 speaker systems or 5.1's in absolutely ages.
Can any Creative Rep tell me if Creative will be making 7.1 speaker systems with Digital Optical inputs or are you guys just gonna stick to producing 2.1's and 2.0's from now on?

But is there any reason why Creative stopped making high-end speaker systems? Was it no longer lucrative enough to produce them?

  • Surround sound speakers don't work help

    I recently bought a new sony bravia t.v. and a sony all in one blu-ray disc/dvd all in one home theater system. We cannot get the surround sound speakers to work watching regular television. Can anyone help solve this problem? Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Ken Please write to {Removed per Forum Guidelines}

JUANGONZ is correct. The easiest way to get the surround is to take an optical cable from the cable box to the input on the back of the Sony receiver. You will have to change the input on the Sony to digital in. Make sure you have Dolby Digital enabled on the cable box settings. Also important is that most standard definition content is broadcast in stereo, usually only high definition is broadcast in 5.1 surround.
If you can stop in at your local Best Buy, I am sure they would be happy to show you on a display unit, or setup an appointment to have a Geek Squad Installer connect your components if you would like.

  • Having trouble using my 5.1 surround sound speaker system and can't configure itunes to use it

With my Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z506 I am listening to music with itunes and i have 5 speakers total with a subwoofer, the configuration is two front, one center, two rear, and a subwoofer. The front , center and subwoofer are fine but the rear pair speakers do not have any playback with them. I am wondering if you don't mind helping me troubleshoot this problem.
Thank you have a nice day
    Cole

Well I'm not using Vista I'm using XP SP2 and I have the same problem.
On the windows sound control panel there is a button called speaker volume. when you click on it you get a bunch of sliders with channels -8. Ive discovered that if I move the master sound control in any of the Creative Sound modes software Entertainment/Audio Creation or Gaming the channel sliders in the windows control panel numbered 3-7 all go to zero which stops the surround sound working. It leaves channels and 2 and 8 alone which can be changed with the sound control in the creative software.
Even checking move all the slides together option on the windows control panel is cancelled as soon as I twitch the main sound control. It's driving me nuts. I keep thinking I must be missing something really obvious here but alas I can't think what.
Ive tried lots of different solutions to no avail. Interestingly when I tried to use the autodriver update thing on the creative web site it said that i am using Vista and you'll have to download manually. Which I did and still didnt resolve my problem.
Sorry no solutions just more problems lets hope someone can help!
Edit - Just discovered - I have XFi Pro if I use the I/O Console volume dial it works fine, but if I use the software volume control it all goes wrong. Think I posted in the wrong thread as well as this is vista but it just seemed so relevant.

I have surround sound speakers and mine are working fine with iTunes 7. Now, I don't want to state the obvious, but my surround sound speakers have a bass box attached and the leads go into the back and sometimes they come loose. You've probably already checked this but I thought it worth a a mention.

  • ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Mac AGP (driver needed for OS 9.2?)

    Hi guys!
    How's everybody doin?
I just picked up a used ATI 9000 AGP 128 MB (as an upgrade for my G4 Quicksilver 800 MHZ).
I'm using 2 HD's (one with OS9), the other (with OSX)
I think OS 9.2 will do ok without the need for a driver, but I just wanna make sure ...
    Thanx
Everyone is very helpful around here
    Mike

    Hello again Carl, and Dave
I know it's been a while since we last talked about this issue. Well apparently, I do have OS freezing problems
with 9.2 and the ATI 9000 Mac Pro - take a look:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4289264#4289264
Wonder if your driver would solve this?
But can I put your driver in the system while it's still functioning with the older OEM video card back in?
(that's the only way I can get the system not to freeze)
    Thanks
    Mike
