Driver-related video playback problems.

Hi,
I've been experiencing less than stellar video playback for a while. My system is P4 1.6A  256MB RAM with msi FX 5700 128 MB running on WIN98 SE .  The thing is that before upgrading my drivers to 50.XX series , I never had video playback problems, totally smooth, then after the 50.XX series, certain video clips froze for a second when opened, then when I installed the 5306 drivers, my system used to freeze for a second before video playback and video seeking stuttered and froze a lot.  Since upgrading to 56.55  and then 56.64 version , the freezeups and stutters are gone but now the quality of the video playback is really crappy and also there is this horizontal border around the video and it looks kinda 'squinched?!?' .  This erratic video behaviour has been going on through out my upgrade from a FX5200 to FX5700 card and with both MSI and nvidia drivers. Presently I'm using nvidia non-branded drivers 56.64.  Also, why do these newer drivers keep dummy-proofing there options pages, you cannot even experiment enough with the settings anymore and I'm afraid Riva tuner or powerstrip might not work with the newer releases.
I haven't experienced any problems with video games, just video playback, either windowed or full-screen. I would really appreciate any help with this problem, its getting to be like an itch at the back you just can't scratch.
Thank you

I'm having video playback problems in the timeline, Premiere Elements12.The clip keeps stuttering. The whole video is 45 minutes long, is HD and has added music tracks. Any ideas would be appreciated.

•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.1 update)
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.9.4"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)

  • Why am I having imbedded video playback problems in Lion?

    Hello all,
I'm been having problems viewing web videos on my 2011 MBPro 13'' w/ OS X Lion. Any time of web video I have normal sound by the video frames get all jumpy, almost like its less than 1fps. The only web videos that do not have this problem is when I watch a youtube video on youtube.com. If I watch imbedded youtube videos, I have the same skittish video playback problem.
I have my adobe flash updated and I used Google Chrome as my web browser.
Anyone else have a similar problem? Fixes? Thanks!
    -Sean

Two things to keep in mind
There is a forum for Lion, another for MBP owners, and this is not.
And yes you will find lots and lots of threads of same.... no one looks at those that were "Solved"

  • Video playback problems [6500 Slide]

Video playback at 25, 29.9, 30 fps is jerky, only 12.5, 15 fps videos play correctly... Lowering the bitrate or using a less complex profile/codec doesnt help much. Funny thing is, it can play its own videos which are whooping 640x480 @ 25fps and 2000-3000kbps [for comparison: the videos i encoded were only 320x240, 25fps, 200kbps] without a problem! O.o So, why has it problems playing my less complex to decode videos?
I tried following ways of encoding in SUPER:
    MPEG4
    h.263
    XviD (h.263/basic)
    320x240
    25, 29.9, 30 fps
    AAC
    2ch
    44.1kHz
    96kbps
    All jerky! :[
But halving the fps... Viola, it plays fine!
    Is this a known issue?
Will this be fixed in the next firmware? Hope so! >.
Cant nokia release some video coding tool with profiles for each phone model, to ensure flawless playback!? -.-
    Regards, KD

I found the intel driver doesn't like xv output.  In VLC go Settings > Preferences > Video > Output modules and set X11 video output. See if that works.  If it does you can do similar things to totem using something in the gnome-media package (can't remember what exactly of hand...)

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Video Playback Problem/Bug

I have been editing a video for the past few weeks, but recently, after I have been editing for a few minutes, all of a sudden my video won't play in the playback window. When I hit the play button (or the space bar) it does nothing - just sits there. All of the clips are rendered (with the green bar), but I cant see my changes because it doesn't play. I am even able to move the cursor along the timeline and it will show the video in the playback window, but it won't play back in real time. Like I said I have been using Premiere Pro CS6 for a while and havent had this problem until now. Also, when I drag a clip into the preview window, it doesn't play either (but I am able to move the cursor along the timeline). I have to shut down Premiere and open it up again, then it works for a few minutes again, and then the same problem occurs. Please help! The specs for my lap top are as follows: Macbook Pro Retina Display, 2.6 GHZ i7, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD

Do you ONLY have that single 500gig drive?
If yes, you are below specification... which requires a separate drive for video files
An EXAMPLE concerning trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the
orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do
Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct
the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with
your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another
very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more on partitions) with Windows (or Mac OS)
and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is
not slowed down by trying to do everything
Do not try to use a USB2 external drive for video editing, the USB2 file transfer speed
    is too slow
External eSata or USB3 are both fast enough for video editing... eSata is better -

ONE possibility is this dock http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-SuperSpeed-Docking-Station-Cooling/dp/B0055PL2YI

  • Video playback problems in iMovie08

I have been using iMovie08 for a while and have suddenly started having performance problems. When playing back an edited video CPU utilisation is maxing out and the video playback is skipping frames. This same video has not been a problem previously. I have noticed that there are quite a few similar issues being reported following the latest Quicktime update, I'm not sure if this is related but it is a coincidence.
The video plays back ok with music but as soon as a title displays the CPU goes from 70% to 90%+ and the video jumps from frame to frame rather than playing smoothly. Is anyone else having similar problems. I know iMovie08 is a pretty processor and memory intensive app but basically my experience suggests that a G5 iMac with 2.5GB memory isn't big enough to run iMovie08 when nothing else is running.

I can't be the only one with this issue. It affects both my iTunes on my mac mini and my iBook

  • Are you having iTunes video playback problems?

Do you have iTunes Store-bought videos whose playback is terrible, all choppy and full of freezes while playing back in iTunes?
Have you copied one of those iTunes videos to a thumb drive and had it play back perfectly?
This problem is not fixed by any of the Quicktime adjustments that Apple suggests on their "how to fix video playback issues" page, and, aside from this video playback issue, iTunes is working fine on my machine. As I said, the videos work fine, too, if played from a thumb drive instead of the hard drive.
This has been going on for weeks, and people have been posting about it here on the forum, but, to my knowledge, there's no fix. Just silence.
It might be useful if people who are seeing this problem post some information about their systems. For all I know, all of us who are seeing this problem have one particular vendor's computer.
The computer I am having this problem with is a new HP laptop that came with Vista. This one:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c00846935&cc=us&dlc=e n&lc=en&jumpid=regR1002USEN
    1.6 GHz AMD Turion ™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-52
    2 X 512KB L2 Cache
    2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA)
    120GB 5400RPM (SATA)
I think the problem has to do with SATA, but I don't really know, except that my computer has it and I am able to play these videos perfectly from a thumb drive but not the SATA hard drive.
If you are having this problem, please consider posting your computer's info. Thanks.

OK, I figured it out... I too have a dv6000 with Vista and I have been trying to fix this terrible itunes video playback thing and this is what I found. For whatever reason the NVidia driver in the dv series doesn't play nice with Vista. They say that they are looking into it but have no response other than that. Somehow the data from the hard drive isn't fast enough. So, reading this I figured that if that REALLY is the problem that I could use a external drive and have the videos come from there, and Voila!! It works like a charm, no skipping, no stalling, no more blue screens. I hope this is helpful, I know what a pain this can be.
ALSO, apparently some think that you can't watch itunes video while using Vista's "ReadyBoost". I haven't had that issue personally, but I have seen a lot that have who disabled it and had it work fine.
Let me know if this works for everyone else.

  • Iphone 5 video playback problems over quicktime?

ive recently got a new laptop, pre windows 8, and downloaded quicktime pro in order to play my iphone videos right side up because windows media player will play them upside down alot of the time. something i immeadiately noticed was that all my videos from my iphone 5, when played back via quicktime, have a big judder/skip in them every 2 seconds whereis all my iphone 4 videos playback no problem. the few videos i have that are recorded right side up from my iphone 5, because of orientation of the phone during recording, play perfectly fine on windows media player so this this leads me to believe it is a quicktime issue. i have updated to the latest quicktime just a few days ago with hopes of it being corrected but no such luck. im curious if anyone else is having this same problem or knows a fix? also if anyone knows how to flip videos with quicktime so i can just watch them on windows media would be great also. i found a write up how to do it but everytime i try it, after i save it it just reverts back to its orgional orientation. thanks for any help, Jamie

Add me to the list of people having this problem.
I'm running Macbook on 10.5.8. Quicktime is 7.6.9, in case this has any bearing on things.
OK......I just searched a few places and came up with this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perian
It's called Perian, and it's one of a few different options you could use to solve this problem....I just installed it (free), and now the videos play without a hitch. It's a plug-in for Quicktime.  There are others that can supposedly do the same thing--look around and give it a shot.
(Also, supposedly this Perian is no longer in open development, and may not work with the newest Quicktime update for the newest Macs, but, like I said, there are other options out there that may work for you instead.)
I have a feeling my problem may have been due to my particular Quicktime/Macbook setup being a bit outdated, but who knows?
    Good luck!

  • Video Playback Problems (iPod Classic 120GB)

Hi! I recently purchased my new iPod Classic 120GB but I'm encountering problems regarding video playback.
I downloaded a *music video* from the internet, and the file format is *mpeg video*. I then purchased an iPod Video Converter and thus changed the file to the appropriate one in order to play it in my iPod.
I played the music video first in my iTunes to check whether the video has any problems, but there was none, and it wasn't corrupted. As for my other videos, I have used the same iPod video converter and they were all fine. I then transferred the music video in my iPod.
Problem is, the quality was good and everything, but there are some *slight glitches in the music video*. There wasn't anything wrong with the audio, but with *some of the scenes* in the video itself. I then replayed it, then the *glitch transferred to another scene in the video*.
I then removed the said music video from my iPod, re-converted it, replayed it in my iTunes, then transferred it to my iPod, but the same video still has the same glitch.
So far, I have transferred 10+ music videos in my iPod and they all worked just fine, but I have 6 other music videos that are encountering the same problem with playback.
Does the problem lie with my iPod converter, or in my iTunes, or in my iPod itself? I would like to know.
I would really appreciate some help with this! Thanks!
    For additional information:
    iTunes - latest version 8.1
iPod - recently bought, Classic 120 GB
video converter - Allok Video to iPod converter
video itself - mpeg format, 204 MB

unfortunately its hard to tell where the problem lies... it depeneds on what type of glitch you are talking about. i really hope you didnt actually pay for a video converter... try "ipod video 9" which is absolutely free... top quality and VERY VERY easy to use!!! this program has never caused issues for me. if the issue is with your ipod it may be a delay in information transfer from your ipods hardrive. try defragmenting your ipod like you would your computer in the "my computer" window on windows, this does actually help your ipod read the information on its hardrive faster and should slightly--->drastically improve your ipods performance depending on factors such as how fragmented (jumbled) your files are, how many files you have on the ipod, the size of each file etc.
these are the only things i can think of!!! try both... see how you get on.

  • Video playback problems in iTunes 10.5.2/3

    Hi,
I'm running iTunes 10.5.3 on my MacBook Pro, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2, 2,66 Ghz, Intel i7, and I have some issues with my video playback.
None of my movies/videos in iTunes will play. It's actually really annoying. I was having this problem already on iTunes 10.5.2. So today I tried reinstalling iTunes completely, due to the new version that came out, but I still have the problem. Any thoughts on the matter?
    Thanks in advance!

I can't be the only one with this issue. It affects both my iTunes on my mac mini and my iBook

  • IPad 5.0.1 update video playback problems

HI is anyone else having playback problems with videos on IPad 1 after 5.0.1 update???
As in the playback not atcually working at all???

See if any of the following Videos 'fixes' work.
Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Please Help - Video Playback Problems

I have followed all the instructions provided by iTunes support in an attempt to fix problems with video playback. They did not help. I downloaded 4 video files that would have smooth audio sound but skip and freeze continually throughout the entire video.
This problem 1st occurred right after I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and then a purchased video. One point of interest is that all of my old video files from earlier versions of iTunes still work fine as they always did.
Could anyone please help me to resolve this issue?

I have had the same problem. I even bought a new 256mn video card and it did nothing. I have done everything i-tunes website suggest and nothing has helped.

  • Video playback problems for Mac/iTunes

When iTunes is in video playback mode things go haywire. The video stops (the audio keeps playing ok) then skips forward. Sometimes it will play ok for a few minutes but always starts up again. I have done the profrences thing. No luck. Anybody found a work-around to this problem while Apple gets it's groove back re: iTunes?

I have the EXACT same problem!! I have gone through the same steps as you and more. I have reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime, emailed support, and they responded as follows: " Dear John, I understand that you're unable to hear any audio when playing this video, purchased from the iTunes Store. I'd be happy to help you with this. Fortunately, this issue can usually be corrected by simply reinstalling QuickTime." I really think it sa something to do with iTunes 7. I didn't have this problem with earlier versions. Something to do with the audio/video drivers?

  • Vista video playback problems after iTunes upgrade

Itunes worked perfectly with my Vista OS prior to the recent upgrade. Since installing the upgrade, videos will not play (I just get a blank screen) and I am bombarded with messages about "authorizing this computer" every time I try to view one. I authorize the computer using the Itunes "store" link, and then get another request to authorize the computer with every replay request. After "authorizing" again and again, I still get a blank screen. The scroller indicates the video is playing, but there is no picture. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes, including the Vista "repair" option, but still have the same problem. I followed all the instructions--including using the "show artwork" option in the "View" link---nothing helps. Is it possible to uninstall the "upgrade" and reinstall the prior version of Itunes, which worked just fine????

ADDENDUM: The exact same problems (repeated requests to authorize computer, blank playback screen) occur when I try to preview any video, so the issue is not related to any specific video purchase. The preview "plays", but there is no video picture.
