Driver setup.exe and W98 (1st Edition)

Hello,
I have just built a computer with a MS-6734 VIA KM400 M/B and all the extras and only kept the old HDD which is running W98 (1st Edition). Everthying is going fine (except a cd-rom problem I have posted about else where). The only other problem I have is that the setup.exe on the drivers disk for the M/B wont run on anything under W98se!!! How do I get around this. I managed to get the svga and sound drivers on manually as their independent setup.exe worked fine. Its the USB and LAN drivers that I still need to do.
Is there a fix for this? Is there a setup.exe that I can download that does support W98 1st edition?
If it was just me using this puter then I would just upgrade to XP but it is also used for a business and upgrading would mean retraining the other computer users and transferring all the accounting programs and files to a new HDD which is not what I had in mind!!
Thankyou in advance for any help.
Kind regards,
Mame du Bois

Hi,
Just a note to let you know problem averted....the drivers were installed manually. The individual driver setup.exe files were compatible as far back as W95 but it was the main MSI setup.exe that wasn't.
The day after the sytem was all setup the descision was made to buy a new HDD and upgrade to XP!!!!
Thanks anyway.

  • Run Setup.exe and Says there is an Error: Help!

    Hi
I have just downloaded the Photoshop CS4 trial for windows and ran the file and it extracted some files. Now I run the Setup.exe and after a few seconds of the "Checking System Profile" thing I get an error saying ask Adobe support and just a quit button. Any ideas why? Thanks. I f you need any info let me know.

While I think that Mylenium and Dec9 have solved your problem with installation, here is a CHECKLIST on installing most Adobe programs, that might also help.
    Good luck,

  • Windows 7 32bit bootcamp driver setup.exe not working?

I know this question has been asked several times, and I apologize for repetition, but I've downloaded the bootcamp files for 32bit windows 7, and copied them to install the drivers onto windows, but the setup.exe changes to an application that 'is not intended for this computer model'.
The 'new' setup.exe after accessing the external hard drive bootcamp:
As you can see, Windows 7 installed properly, but the drivers have not been installed. The only reason I am able to use Windows on this is because I manually installed the network adapter hard drive. If there is a way to fix this so I can properly install the drivers, I would love to know.
    Thank you for your time.

You can find links for the various versions of Boot Camp here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
Just find the correct model and version of windows and download the Boot Camp version provided by the link.
Note that there are a variety of versions of 4 available so it is important to make sure you find the correct model in order to get the correct version.

  • What is different between setup.exe and ezsetup.exe for iPlanet Application server 6.0 SP3?

iPlanet Application server 6.0 SP3 for windows versions.

    Hi,
setup.exe has 3 types of installation modes, namely, express, typical and custom. But the ezsetup doesn't asks these questions. The difference between them are..
Setup.exe - Express - Asks fewer questions like, iAS username password, directory server username, password, product key etc
Setup.exe - Typical - Asks for same questions as of Express setup and few more additional questions and allows you to install iAS and use a directory server which is already installed.
Setup.exe - Custom - The most complicated and the highly interactive installation where it requiress 32-33 inputs from the user and fully customisable.
EzSetup.Exe - Doesn't have any sub option, doesn't allow you to use the existing directory server or web server, all it asks is 2 questions..., which directory to install and the product key.
    Hope this helps.

  • Drive setup suggestion for multiple users editing simultaneously?

At work here, a city college, not a professional company or broadcast studio, so resources are limited, we often have three people editing HDV content simultaneously in Final Cut Pro.
Keeping the content on our multiple backup servers, there's simply too much network traffic to do this smoothly.
Instead of keeping projects locally spread across multiple machines, I would like one centralized place for everything, for the Macs to access directly over gigabit or something else.
So, what kind of setup do you guys suggest for this?
The machines here are two quad-core G5s (no RAID or fiber-channel right now), and a Core2Duo iMac, F400 only.
Again, it'd need to be able to handle three HDV projects going on simultaneously without skipping due to having to seek back and forth all over the drive.
    Thanks.

Yes, an XSan system would perfectly fit the bill for what you want to do, but an XSAN is not a cheap solution. When it is all said and done, it will cost you tens of thousands of dollars.
The best, cheap solution would be to use Firewire drives. I would not duplicate a project onto three drives, because you will then always be trying to figure out which version is the most current. Instead, keep all of your project, capture scratch and render files on the firewire drives. Then move the drive to whichever computer you want to do the editing on.
Properly log & capture all your footage, then archive all your project files, because Firewire hard drives will fail over time, loosing all the info on the discs. I did say this was the cheap solution. "Cheap" does have its costs…

  • Can the WinOnx install fifa14 setup exe and can i play it on my mac?

    ??

An exe file is an executable for Windows. It will not run on the Mac OS. You do have the option to install Windows on your computer using BootCamp and it would then install. Then the question would become does the hardware meet the game's minimum requirements. If it requires an Nvidia or AMD GPU the answer would be no. And I expect that it does require more than Intel's integrated video.

  • Adobe Web Premium CS4 setup.exe not working (upgrade)

Just bought and downloaded Web Premium upgrade, extracted with no issue, ran setup.exe and the mouse flickered but nothing happened. No service listed in taskmanager, nothing. After googling a while, I used msconfig to turn off everything possible on startup, mcafee, carbonite, video card GUIs, java runtime, etc etc. rebooted, again nothing. I'm upgrading from Studio8 which installed with no trouble. I'm pulling my hair out!
I run vista ultimate 32bit, 700gigs free space, 4gig ram, 1gig video card, 2.4ghz dual core intel chip. I also have premiere elements and Photoshop elements package installed (v7) but they installed without a hitch.
    Any suggestions?
PS: I did read through these forums and was trying to avoid editing my registry etc. When I go into add/remove programs, there is no trace of CS4 (thinking setup was running hidden or something) nor are there cs4 directories created in /programfiles/adobe.

any input on this? Adobe mail customer support recommended disabling UAC and/or using a new user account... neither worked.

  • How can I use a setup.exe file on my mac

I am attempting to download a demo software on my mac. It uses a setup.exe and I am unable to make it execute. I do have microsoft office on my mac.

You need to be running Windows to use that software:
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
    6. Last is Q.  Q is a freeware emulator that is compatible with Intel Macs.  It is much slower than the virtualization software, Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Trying to reinstall using "setup.exe" in fixing 64-bit Adobe PDF printing error...?

Greetings.  I found the following solution to my problem in the Adobe forums:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-file-adobepdf-dll-needed.html
    The text is:
Manually extract the file "adobepdf.dll_64" from the data1.cab file before installing Acrobat. When the prompt appears, navigate to this file and select it.
Navigate to the folder that contains the setup.exe file for your Acrobat 8 installation.
Locate the file "data1.cab" and open it (you sometimes need a  third-party compression utility, such as WinZip, to extract the file).
Inside the content listings, locate the file "adobepdf.dll_64" and copy it to your desktop.
Run the installer setup.exe and when the prompt appears, choose browse and select the file you copied to the desktop.
Incredibly, my problem starts at #4.  How do I run the installer program?  I found both the command prompt and the run functionality on the start menu (yes, Windows 8, KMN).  Couldn't get either of them to run the installer, and I cannot seem to find the correct .exe file in the directory.  Any help is much appreciated, thank you!

The problem may be related to trying to install AA8 on Win8. You may or may not be successful, or at least fully successful. The first thing after completing the install is to open Acrobat and go to the Help>Updates and install all updates (in order if more than one appears, and repeating until no updates are shown). You can also install the updates manually in order using http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows.
There is a good chance with AA8 that the print driver will not install. If that is the case, find a nice PS color print driver for an HP or other PS printer. Install that and change the name to Adobe PDF printer. Check the ports -- if an Adobe PDF port is present, select that and if not change the port to FILE.
You should be able to print to the new PDF printer to obtain a PS file. Open that file (the extension may be PRN) in Distiller to obtain a PDF.
The alternative is to buy the newest version of Acrobat (XI).

  • Setup.exe "This app can't run on your PC"

Hello, I've been trying to install Windows 8 on my macbook pro (mid 2012) using boot camp. I was using a windows 8 .iso file with a flash drive. I got Windows 8 installed and running, but when I tried to install the boot camp drivers off of the flash drive (setup.exe) I keep getting a fullscreen error message saying "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher." I've tried redownloading the windows support drivers to the flash drive but it didn't work. I'm having trouble finding any instance of this on all of the forums I checked and it is geting very frustrating. If anyone can help with this it would be much appreciated.

I think I found the problem, I discovered that I had installed a 32 bit windows 8 instead of the 64 bit one. Based on some other threads I've seen I'm guessing this is the problem and will post again when I'm finished reinstalling the 64 bit version in case anyone is curious.

  • T60 R and R error messages layout.bin setup.bin setup.ini and setup.dll corrupted

I have a T60 that I was only able to use for a couple of days after purchase on EBAY in the fall of '08.  Ordered recovery disks in spring of '10.  Just now getting to use them.
The recovery did not work.  BIOS shows 60 gig hard drive as 4.5 gig.  Had hard drive reformatted at repair shop, where we discovered that the HD had 3 partitions, one 50 gig partitution unformatted.
After reformat,  loaded R and R from CDs then rebooted to hard drive and loaded all 6 recovery CD's as per instructions.  Last disk (6 of 6) popped up error messages that \SWWORK\4GEOXCA1\LAYOUT.BIN is corrupt or unreadable, Run CHKDSK.
Then a message that said:  Unable to save all data for the file \Device\HarddiskVoume3\SWWORK\4GEOXCA1\LAYOUT.BIN Failure of hardware or net connection.
Following that corrupt file messages, like the first one above, for SETUP.INI, SETUP.EXE and SETUP.DLL came up.
The computer will not boot to windows, just sits there with a blank screen after the boot message.  I can boot to the R and R program by hitting the Thinkvantage (blue) button.
Can I download uncorrupted versions of these files?  Is there a way to check the integrity of the files on the recovery CD (some sort of cabinet type file, IIRC an MIS extension)?
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hello,
Given the age of the computer, and the facts that you are not the original owner and it is having disk errors, you may also wish to test the hard disk drive inside it using the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics software.

  • Creative MediaSource setup.exe ha

I downloaded CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe and tried to install it. After doing CRC checks and downloading some files, the setup program hangs. I see it on the taskbar, but all of the options (Move, Size, Close, etc.) are grayed out, and the Task Manager lists it as Not Responding.
Has anybody else encountered/gotten around this problem?

Clearing the temp folder didn't help. However, I did find a work-around--and perhaps it will work for others, as well.
I used WinZip to "manually" extract the contents of CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe into a folder. I then drilled down Setup\Setup\setup.exe, and ran that setup program. While there are other setup programs, I figured I'd start there, then manually run the others if anything turned up missing. But, so far, that doesn't seem to have been necessary.
Logically, I probably "should" have started with install.exe, but that appeared to be the program that was hanging.
    So far, so good...
