Driver Sipüport for different platforms

Hi Community,
as far as I know a Mac OS Setup DVD contains all available drivers for each single platform respectively every hardware. Does all this drivers become installed by default during setup on a specific platform?
The background behind these question is, that I want to create a Mac OS installation on a Firewire Device as a rescue system. I would install this system for example on a Mac Mini. Can I boot a Mac Pro or an iMac with this system?
I know that there is a cache which contains the kernel extensions. With the boot option "save boot" the boot image ignore these cached kernel extensions and detect all needed extensions during the startup procedure. Are the system drivers also stored as kernel extensions? Than this could be a possible solution.

As long as you adhare the following you can copy the VIs from one platform to the other as often you want:
- don't use platform-specific code, e.g. ActiveX, DLLs, ....
- take care with the path syntax (use path controls instead of strings)
- don't copy your VIs without Blockdiagramm

How to apply metrics for different platform

Hi,
If a metric has different code for different platform, or the metric only runs on some specific type of system, how can we apply it to a group of hosts?
For example, I have a metric that checks only Sun T3 types of systems. I can create a group of hosts that are T3 type system, but how do I apply the metric to this group?
The other example is the way to collect data is different for Soaris and Linux platform, can I have 2 metrics, one apply to the group of Solaris machines, and the other apply to the group of Linux machines?

Hi,
You can use EM groups and monitoring templates to accomplish what you want to do. For example, create a group for Solaris hosts and a template to push out appropriate metric settings for the group.

Satelite L30-114: Driver Not Intended For This Platform when IDE controller installing

HEllo! I have Satelite L30-114 which i purchase about month ago.I have Win XP SP2 with all updates, and bios 2.3.
Couple days ago i tried to reinstall drivers for ide controllers. I have delited them in "device manager" and restart system. after boot windows normally found both PCI IDE controllers, installed them, then found ide channels (primary and secondary ide channal on ich) and here strange thing happens: instead of normal installation of these 4 channels the window appears "Driver Not Intended For This Platform". and after every reboot these devices trying to install, giving me 4 windows "Driver Not Intended For This Platform".
Now in device manager i have 2 normal standart IDE Controllers, and 4 don't working IDE channels with yelow "!". The funniest is that i was not installing new ide drivers.Drivers are same that was working before reinstall. Now computer working, but worth than before. on the toshiba site there is no Ide driver "Intended For This Platform".
Did somebody know how can i fix it? or where is such driver located? or what model of chipset whith this controller used in this notebook?

In my opinion there was no reason to do something like that. If notebook works well let it go. Go to Toshiba download page and download chipset driver for your notebook model and install it manually.

Determine component height for different platform

Hi, all
It just came to me, how can I determine optimal component height for JLabel,JTextField while calling setPreferredSize on different platform? Different screen dpi,fonts,etc. Is there a guide line, so each component will be not too small?

Driver Not Intended For This Platform,,,,,,,,

well, i have windows vista home premium, and so does my dad and my ipod works on his comp so W.T.F!! is wrong with mine!? whenever i try to install the drivers for my ipod 80gb classic it tells me that the drivers were not intended for this platform.
so what do i do?

Are you running 32-bit Vista or 64-bit Vista? What about your father? I understand there have been issues running iTunes / connecting an iPod on the 64-bit version. If you do a search for "vista 64 bit" (search is in the upper right), you'll see threads related to this. I run XP, so I haven't really been paying much attention to the Vista related threads. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Partitioning FXO port for different users on Cisco CME 2911or UC540

we have 10 users in our network and we have 4 FXO port and lines connected to them, we would like to implement this requirement on our network below;
2 users will have access to FXO port 1
3 users will have access to FXO port 2
3 users will have access to FXO port 3
2 users will have access to FXO port 4
please, i have searched for the features on UC540 but no avail, everyone is going out on all port but i only want 2 users to be able to access a port then others should not.
please, how do i archieve this.

You would need something called Class of Restriction.

In sap ABAP, isit any menthod we can create a queue to list sequence for posting? The posting data may come from different platfrom but they are using the same tcode program. i want to create FIFO (First IN First Out) process, because my program used my more than 1 users , so i think to create the queue inside my program to arrange the sequence of the posting. So the data will post correctly.

Cannot compile dylib for different platform then local machine

Hello,
I have to compile a dylib that uses two other dylibs in chain but I have some problems when I try to compile for i386 arch.
I am using mac os x 10.6 and the default arch for g++ is x86_64.
If I wanna compile for this arch (x86_64) everything works ok but if I change the arch I get some "had not been declared errors"
The other two dylibs that I am using are compiled for both architectures.

I am using makefiles. More exactly there are some modified makefiles created with eclipse CDT.
What is strange is the fact that the same sources can be compiled on mac os x 10.5 i386 but from an 10.6 using 10.5 sdk for i386 arch I'm having problems.

Drivers for different Operating Systems in one Task Sequence

I would like to implement a solution for our deployment process. We are using UDI Wizard, and in this moment in time we are deploying only Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64.
Here is how it looks in UDI:
Drivers for our HP laptops are setup and working with Windows 7 x64, but when I choose Windows 8.1 x64 from my dropdown menu in UDI, during the deployment process I get the driver package that is made for Windows 7 x64 version.
What am I missing here? Ofcourse i added all of this conditions to see if it works because I am testing it right now:
If possible we would like to use the same TS for both OS (and in the future Windows 10).

thanks for your reply. As I tried to explain above, I just added many conditions to see if it would work, random throwing of everything, nothing more. Well it didnt.
It worked like this:
1. First you configure the operating systems in UDI wizard, then their name is what counts.
2. Then you implement OS into UDI task sequence, and for that to works you also use OSDImageName variable.
For example Windows 7 x64 Enterprise you Add condition->TS variable->OSDImageName equals "Windows 7 x64 Enterprise", I got that name from UDI wizard. For Windows 8 x64 the same, just make another step including Install Operating system Windows
8 and change the variable according to the name.
3. Then create install driver steps both for different OS and also add the condition like bellow:
You have to specify both conditions in order to work, otherwise it will install both driver packages.

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with networks that require any kind of authentication other than a WPA or WPA2 Personal password.
When the Mac OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. My Macbook Pro Won't boot. Unable to find the driver for this platform

Hi there,
After doing some casual internet browsing earlier today (facebook + twitter etc) my laptop froze up. While I was able to click between windows, the ever faithful beach ball was there to ensure I couldn't really do anything, including making the dock appear when mousing towards the bottom. So I held down the power button to shut it down, and restarted. After the apple logo had sat there for quite some time I got a message something along the lines of:
Unable to find driver for this platform:\"ACPI\".In"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1699.32.7/iokit/kernel
This was followed by a message telling me I needed to restart my computer using the power button. After several attempts all producing the same results, I was still in the same boat. So I sought some online help which lead me to boot into my recovery partition (holding down the option key at startup) and install the operating system again from there. However this is when I really started to panic. After selecting the recoverey partition the apple logo flipped between a no access symbol (that circle with a line through it) and the apple logo for a couple of seconds, before settling on the apple logo. But the recovery partition never loads and after some time I either get a symbol of a folder with a question mark in it or I similar message telling me to restart.
Next I tried plugging in my external hard drive with a few time machine backups as well as a carbon copy back up and another recovery partition. Using the external HD's recovery partition took me to a menu which the online help had initially promised where I could reinstall osx as well as use disc utitlity. So I tried to run the installer from here only to find my hard drive didn't show up in the list of destination volumes. The time machine and recovery partitions from my hard drives did, but I couldn't select these.
I then turned my attention to the disc utility and tried to repair my hard drive. I was unsure which one to select at first because there were two names for my hard drive; the first being the hard drives actual name (a samsung something or other) and the second was called 'Lion.' I started by repairing the samsung one and this was over in a few seconds saying it was successfully repaired. So I moved on to 'Lion' and this took a few moments, before stalling on a section saying "Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required." I was also advised to recover any data I could and restore I backup.
So that's where I'm currently at. I'd really hate to lose any recent data, as my last time machine back up was about a week ago and I'd made some substantial progress on a mix since then!
I'd really appreciate any help that anyone can offer,

Just had another look in the disc utility and found that the samsung's partition scheme is set to master boot record, which is apprently used for windows partitions? I've no idea how this happend because When I originally formatted the drive I'm sure I would have set it to GUID partition table. Clicking on 'Lion' just gives dashes for the partition type, capacity and available space values.

After trying to install update on MacAir error message and then message saying panic (cpu caller 0xffffff800a859241): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".... I'm worried as all of my work is on my computer and I'm afraid I will lose it all.

I am totally worried I am going ot lose all my data after trying to install update on MacAir. Cannot do anything error message saying panic ....."Unablet o find driver for this platform."

No good news I'm afraid. I have been through ALL the system caches and files that were updated at the time of said issue. Reset - rebuild and even gone back to my TimeMachine copy from earlier this AM. Nothing! Can only assume it is something deeper in the /usr or var or private folders.....
I have cloned the system and core files (/usr, /private) etc etc to an external HD and it still recreates the fault. I am afraid to say I have no more time at the minute to look at so have put my machine back to 2 hours prior via my TimeCapsule.
I the absense of anyone else or, indeed, Apple fixing in the next 12 hours, will get back onto it from the cloned copy I have kept and see if I can find the offending file/files...

I did not say it is not possible.
I said if your company networks are monopolizing both ports, you should talk to them about what options are available.
Maybe you can get the company Intranet over wireless if you change some configuration items such as Subnet Mask.
Maybe you can get on the Internet over Ethernet.
You really need to ask them, and do not let them blow you off because you have a Mac. If they balk, ask them how it would be done on a PC (becasue it will be the same on a Mac).

How do I capture tape-based media to my external hard drive? There is only one firewire 800 port on the back of my I mac. The manual says to import tape footage directly into fcpx, but then I lose my external hard drive. thanks for your help.

I have always done what you suggest (works fine in FCP7), but in FCPX when I do that the camcorder icon
