Driver sources pointing finger at each other

I have an old printer, Epson SP1270. On the Epson site, the driver for PPC is available, but for Intel, it says "The latest Mac OS X 10.6 driver for your Epson product is available only via Apple's Software Update. Here's how to get it:
1. Connect the printer to your Mac and power the printer on.
2. Click Apple and select Software Update.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the available updates"
That went well, and it showed the driver "installing" (I assume a web-direct install). It made little progress after 15 minutes, so I went off to do errands. Upon my return, I see a message "The software is currently unavailable". Does that mean the driver is forever gone or that the server is just flaky today?

I am not sure why there's a glitch in Software Update, but you could try downloading the drivers from Epson directly or download the update from Apple:

Hope this helps.

  • 2 Macs sharing an external hard drive, but can't see each other's music

We bought a 300GB Lacie external hard drive, and pointed each Mac's iTunes to the same folder on that drive. Then the computer asked to "consolidate," which means copying all the music on each to that shared folder--which is great so far. But then in iTunes one Mac can only see the music it copied to that folder, and the other can only see the music it copied over. If I go into Finder, I can see both of our music, but in iTunes, no. There is some purchased iTunes music, but mostly just our own CDs.
What happened, and what can I do? Thanks!

Each computer (actually, each user account on each computer) has its own iTunes Library, which is a directory file. Moving computer A's music files to the new hard drive resulted in the Library file being updated to show the new location of the music that already was part of the Library. Moving computer B's files to that same location didn't affect computer A's iTunes Library file.
On each computer, you'll need to use the Add to Library command (or do the equivalent by dragging music folders from the Finder onto the Library icon in the Source panel of iTunes) to get all the music into your Libraries.
If the Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to Library preference is ON (under Advanced\General of iTunes Preferences), then when you add music to your library, those files will be copied to the location in iTunes Music Folder location, if they're not already there. You may want to check these settings to make sure you won't end up with extra copies of music files in locations you hadn't intended.

  • I am now getting a error message of -9808. I have to sign in to iTunes constantly and now my disc drive will no longer play movies or anything. I have Windows XP Tablet Professional Version. Both companies are pointing the finger at each other.

I am losing my ability to play and listen to the music I paid for on iTunes. I have to constantly sign in, I am now getting an error message of -9808. I can not even play movies any more.  I am terrified to add iTunes to another computer. HELLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!

Netflix adapts to the connection. iTunes content is fixed, and will need to load a portion before playback begins.
It is best to troubleshoot the network to truly rule things out.
What is your current connection, via speedtest.net
Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network)
    If on wifi try Ethernet
Make sure router is up to date, reboot along with ATV

  • Why are Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 source and program monitors playing each others footage?

Why are Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 source and program monitors playing each others footage? I import my footage into the project like normal. I drag it to the source monitor on the left hand side to set in and out points then I drag it to the time line. The footage drops into the time line with no problem but when I go to play the footage in the time line it plays back on the source monitor and not on the program monitor like it is suppose to. Other times ill drag the clip to the time line and trim it there and it will be fine and show up on the program monitor.  Then ill go try to set a clip to have in and out points (which is suppose to show up in the source monitor) but it shows up in the program monitor. The clip is not even in the time line it should not be on that monitor! I have updated the program to the late update. I have re installed the program numerous times and I have even ran the Adobe Clean up program. Couldn't find much on this problem. Please help thank you! I have a PC. My computer is also way over the recommended minimum specifications to have the program installed on.

Definitive Answer (I believe): It's all about this setting, "Write XMP ID To Files On Import" - which confirms that Adobe Premiere Pro is deliberately modifying the .mov file: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/preferences.html#WSE3BD4A43-7022-4fe6-97F5-95313 935347B
These posts give some background as to why having this setting enabled would be beneficial: one benefit being to be able to skip conforming files by matching the conformed file with the original using the embedded XMP tag :-

  • I have 2 different MacBooks (owned by 2 people) connected to my Time Capsule. I want to use the Time Capsule to back up both MacBooks separately from each other. Can one person access the hard drive of the other person, on the same Time Capsule?

I have 2 different MacBooks (owned by 2 people) connected to the same Time Capsule over a wifi network. I want to use the Time Capsule to back up both MacBooks separately from each other. Can one person access the hard drive of the other person, on the same Time Capsule? Is there a way to ensure that the files on the 2 laptops are kept private from each other? Thanks!

If someone really wants to do something, it won't take them long to find out how to do it.

Security on a Time Capsule is a bit like installing a lock on a tent. It will keep the honest folks out, but probably not the others.

  • Return points within certain distance to each other

I have a geometry of points (say 1000 points) and I want to return only points within certain distance(say 100 meters) to each other and exclude others. I have been using the sdo_aggr_union with tolerance value of 100, but it returns one of the points from all of which are 100 meters apart and also returns other points.
I would appreciate if anyone can please help me with this. I basically want to identify bunch of points placed close to each other. sdo_within_distance will not work as this is between two geometries. Here I have the same geometry column in the table but multiple records. Sorry, if I have confused too much. Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Your initial question said you want to find all points within a certain distance to the each others. The distance was said to be 100 meter.
Therefor the query will return for every single point all the others that are within that distance.
As this is performed on one single table the SDO_JOIN is well suited.
Obviously this returns a lot of recs. Let me explain why. draw for example 5 points (on a line to make it simple) and every point is 10 meters further from the previous. If you want to know for the first point what are the others within the 100 meter distance, you will end up with all the others. So doing this for every point this means that for every point you will have returned all the other, increasing the number of records returned. this is actually what the example query will do.
If you have additional filters you must add them for both (in your case same) tables, if you want for all points with a specific faceid to list all other points within that distance and with the same faceid.
However this will not be limited to only 549 recs I expect.
Maybe you can try to give more explanation what you are trying to achieve.
Should you try to achieve to identify clusters of points you might want to take a look at spatial clustering http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B14255_01/sdo_sam_ref.htm#CACJAJDC

  • Both disc drives broke within two weeks of each other?

I bought an imac and macbook pro about a year and a half ago and within two weeks of each other, both have broken. They have always been awkward to insert/eject disc to/from, but now they either don't accept discs in or wont spit them out. Surely this isn't coincidence as they get very different usage from each other. Also, i've just upgraded to 10.6.8. Is this a known problem? Can i request Apple fix these issues for free, as i don't really feel one and a half years is acceptable for the breakdown of both machines, especially as they get very little usage.
    Advice?

  • My iPod and iTunes seem to hate each other

They're just not hitting it off. They don't like talking to each other, both seem prone to going into long electronic sulks, and chucking crockery at each other can only be round the corner.
Ok, serious head on for full story. Short version: iTunes 7 won't sync with our 4th generation iPod. Sometimes it won't sync at all. Other times it'll get to a certain point and gets stuck on a particular song, and Force Quitting iTunes is the only way we can eject it safely so none of the songs end up on the iPod. Very frustrating when you've got up to 941 out of 5000 plus songs. Along the way we've tried the five Rs, had various unknown error messages (1428 seems to be a favourite), and had the folder + ! sign (now gone again).
The long version: Got a new car stereo that's iPod compatible right out of the box, and we felt that having our entire music collection on tap was more appealing than faffing around with a CD changer. The Mac we bought a few months ago had iTunes 6, and other than locking up a few times it was happy to import 300+ CDs. So far, so good.
Next step, we got a second hand iPod, and this is where the aggro started. It's a 4th Gen 60GB model, and we immediately ran into difficulties because it had been used with a Windows PC. iTunes 6 didn't want to know, so looked online and found we needed to update to iTunes 7. Did that, only to find we then needed to update OSX as well. At this point I started getting all misty eyed and nostalgic for the old Windows PC - I mean I've still got ancient Win95 stuff that worked ok on Win2K. I really didn't expect this much aggro when we switched to Mac. Anyhoo, did the OSX update (which took days since there's no broadband available where we live), and finally we could get the iPod plugged in. Needed to do a restore on the drive, but that went smoothly. Then we went out and left it syncing.
Sinking more like. It got stuck on the 941st song not long after we got home, and while we were looking we got an error message saying we'd disconnected it without ejecting first. We hadn't touched the iPod, which was still sat in is dock, but as far as it was concerned it had been pulled out. Which meant that we needed to restore it. Again. Which it didn't want to do. After many attempts we found that forcing it into disc mode allowed us to restore it properly. Then tried to sync again, but only with one album to kick off with. That worked ok, so we tried another 2 albums. Got stuck again halfway through the second, but we were able to eject it semi-properly so that resetting worked. At this rate 20+GB of music is going to take so long to get through that our furniture will be antiques before we're done. Nnnnnnnnnnn.
Next attempt got to just over 800 songs synced before it got stuck again. This time it left the Mac completely unresponsive, which meant another restore. After that I went beck to trying one album at a time. One went on okay, the next stuck on the first song. At this point we've given up trying to suss it out ourselves and have come here for help. Is it worth trying iTunes 6 again? 7 has locked up the computer when the iPod wasn't even in the dock, and although this happened a couple of times when we were importing CDs into iTunes 6 I wonder if the older version might be more stable. What else can we try that we haven't had a go at already?
Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

    Hi Michael!
Just wondering if you managed to resolve the issue? i'm suffering from the exact same problems-my shuffle works on everyone else's computer but not my notebook, which is new as well. everything is fine until i try to add songs then it just freezes. After a while it says cannot read from or write to disk. if i try to restore it, it takes hours or says there is an error. i have literally tried everything and even been sent a new one from apple. it's driving me crazy. please help anyone!

  • I copied all my CD's onto a hard drive.  Can I transfer each CD from the hard drive to my iPhone either wirelessly or by direct connection?

I copied all my CD's onto a hard drive.  Can I transfer each CD from the hard drive to my iPhone either wirelessly or by direct connection?  Do I have to make a playlist for each cd and then transfer it to my iPhone?

When you buy your new iMac you will be able to have the installation process transfer all your applications, data (including music, pictures, documents, etc) and settings to your new computer. In the past that was done via Firewire. I'm not entirely sure of the process with the new iMacs that don't have firewire. I think it can be done via ethernet and probably via tha thunderbolt cord using a firewire adapter but you'll want to check that out.
With the your new computer properly connected to your old computer, the initial booting of the new computer will include the ability to move everything over.
If for some reason you don't want to do that (smart if you have some horrible software issue that is causing problems) you can connect your old computer to the new one and start it in Target Disk mode where it will be seen as a hard drive. You can then manually copy over all your music and import that into iTunes (and any other data you want).
Somebody here will surely point you to directions for connecting an older iMac with no Thunderbolt to a newer iMac with no Firewire.

    Hi,
Seems to me that you could clean up the current NAT configuration a bit and make it a bit clearer.
I would suggest the following changes
    object network VPN-POOL
    subnet 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0
    object network LAN
    subnet 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    object-group network PAT-SOURCE
    network-object 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    network-object 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0
nat (inside, outside) source static LAN LAN destination static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL
    nat (outside,outside) 1 source static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL destination static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL
    nat (any,outside) after-auto source dynamic PAT-SOURCE interface
    The above should enable
Dynamic PAT for LAN and VPN users
NAT0 for the traffic between LAN and VPN
NAT0 for traffic between VPN users
You could then remove the previous NAT configurations. Naturally please do backup the configuration before doing the change if you wish to move back to the original configuration.
no nat (inside, any) source static any any destination static RAVPN RAVPN
    no nat  (inside,outside) source static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24  NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 destination static NETWORK_OBJ_10.10.10.0_28  NETWORK_OBJ_10.10.10.0_28
no nat (inside, outside) source static any any destination static NETWORK_OBJ_10.10.10.0_28 NETWORK_OBJ_10.10.10.0_28
    no object network obj_any
    no object network RAVPN
In the event that you dont want to change the configurations that much you might be fine just by adding this
    object network VPN-POOL
    subnet 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0
    nat (outside,outside) 1 source static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL destination static VPN-POOL VPN-POOL
But the other above configurations changes would make the current NAT configurations simpler and clearer to see each "nat" configurations purpose.

  • Clone stamp source point

I am doing some retouching work on a portrait to remove/minimize wrinkles around the subject's neck. I am utilizing a lighten layer and darken layer with the clone stamp set to a very low opacity to affect only those areas. I would like to set the source point of the clone stamp to one area. I don't want the clone stamp source point to move with my my clone strokes. Is there a way for me to set the source point and have it remain stationary?
Many Thanks in advance for any answers provided.
    DL

The source point will always move during a stroke.  That's the definition of a clone operation.  If you want to just paint the same color across an entire stroke that sounds more like just a traditional Brush operation.
Now, you can have the source point start in the same place for each successive stroke...  You accomplish that by unchecking the [ ] Aligned box at the top of the Photoshop main window.
    Hope this helps!

Back in June, Michael Rice asked for source to a GLD driver.
There were no pointers to source at that time.
Bruce pointed him in the direction of the pure documentation, which I have
already found, and also suggested he do full DLPI instead.Huh? You've mis-read what I wrote. I did not suggest that. I described
three different driver-writing scenarios to consider with three different
solutions and one of the solutions I suggested is write a GLD-based driver.
    http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=640318621&fmt=text
I did not specifically identify which scenario I thought matched Michael's
situation, but it should be obvious which one matches, so I don't see how
you decided I suggested "he do a full DLPI instead".
Does anyone at sun know of source that can be made public, for a network
driver that implements GLD?Like I said previously, "don't hold your breath waiting for Sun to do
the right thing with GLD". The managers who "own" GLD have their heads
up their butts so the more reasonable your request the less likely it
is that it will ever be satisfied. Releasing a sample GLD-based driver
and the source for GLD itself has been suggested so many times that
the pointy-haired managers must think they've done it already. I have
copies of email that discuss releasing the GLD sources going back to at
    least 1995.
There are always gotchas to documentation, so I'm figuring just having the
docs [which arent even put in HTML form] is going to at least double my
work time on this.If you're lucky. I suggest you get a software-only support contract (which
is around a couple of hundred bucks) and use it to force Sun to answer any
GLD questions that come up. Just make certain you get your answers from the
engineering staff and not just the tech support telephone people or escalation
engineer (since none of them have any real GLD experience).

    According to
    http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/source/
all Solaris 8 sources are going to be released. You can sign up to get notified when the release happens (it says "early in the third quarter 2000").

  • How do I Help Apple Care Stop Warring with Each Other and Fix the Problem with My iPhone that They Acknowledge Creating?

How Do I Help Apple US & Apple Europe Stop Warring With Each Other And Fix The Problem They Created?
    PROBLEM
Apple will not replace, as promised, the iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) that they gave me in London, UK, with an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model).
    BACKGROUND
My iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) was purchased this year in September on an existing Verizon Wireless (VZW) line using an upgrade. The purchase took place in California and the product was picked up using Apple Personal Pickup through the Cerritos Apple Retail Store. I will refer to this phone at my "original" phone.
The original phone was taken into the Apple Store Regent Street in London, England, UK on November 15, 2012. The reason for this visit was that my original phone's camera would not focus.
The Apple Store Regent Street verified there was a hardware problem but was unable to replace the part.
The Apple Store Regent Street had me call the US AppleCare. At first they denied support, but then a supervisor, name can be provided upon request, approved the replacement of my original phone with an iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) as a temporary solution until I got back in the US. And approved that the GSM model would be replaced with a CDMA model when I came back to the US. I will refer to the GSM model as the "replacement". They gave me the case number --------.
The Apple Store Regent Street gave me the replacement and took the original. The first replacement did not work for reasons I do not understand. They switched out the replacement several times until they got one that worked on the T-Mobile nano SIM card that I had purchased in England, UK. Please refer to the repair IDs below to track the progression of phones given to me at the Apple Store Regent Street:
    Repair ID ----------- (Nov 15)
    Repair ID ----------- (Nov 16)
    Repair ID ----------- (Nov 16)
The following case number was either created in the UK or France between November 15 to November 24. Case number -----------
On November 19, 2012, I went to France and purchased an Orange nano SIM card. The phone would not activate like the first two repair IDs above.
On November 24, 2012, I went to the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps. The Genius told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. They had me call the AppleCare UK.
My issue was escalated to a tier 2 UK AppleCare agent. His contact information can be provided upon request. He gave me the case number -----------.
The UK tier 2 agent became upset when he heard that I was calling from France and that the France Apple Store or France AppleCare were not helping me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault.
The UK tier 2 agent said he was working with engineers to resolve my problem and would call me back the next day on November 25, 2012.
While at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, a Genius switched the phone given to from repair ID ----------- with a new one that worked with the French nano SIM card.
Also, while at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, I initiated a call with AppleCare US to get assistance because it seems that AppleCare UK was more upset that France was not addressing the issue rather than helping me. I have email correspondance with the AppleCare US representative.
A Genius at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps switched the replacement with a new GSM model that worked on the French SIM card but would not work if restored, received a software update, or had the SIM card changed. This is the same temporary solution I received from the Apple Store Regent Street in the UK.
By this point, I had spent between 12-14 hours in Apple Store or on the phone with an AppleCare representative.
Upon arriving in the US, I went to my local Apple Store Brea Mall to have the replacement switched with a CDMA model. They could not support me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. My instructions were to call AppleCare US again.
My call with AppleCare US was escalated to a Senior Advisor, name can be provided upon request, and they gave me the case number -----------. After being on the phone with him for over an hour, his instructions were to call the Apple Store Regent Street and tell them to review my latest notes. They were to process a refund for a full retail priced iPhone 5 64BG black onto my credit card so that I could use that money to buy a new iPhone 5 64GB black at the Apple Store Brea Mall to reoslve the problem.
The Apple Store Regent Street did not process my refund. He, name can be provided upon request, told me that the AppleCare US did not do a good job reviewing my case, that they were incapable of getting to the bottom of it like they were, and instructed me to call AppleCare US and tell them to review this case number and this repair id. I asked if he read the notes from the AppleCare US Senior Advisor and he would not confirm nor deny. When I offered to give him the case number he accepted but it seemed like would do no good. Our call was disconnected. When I tried calling back the stores automated system was turned on and I could not get back through.
Now I have the full retail price of an iPhone 5 64GB black CDMA on my credit card and Apple will not process the refund as they said they would.
I've, at this point, spent between 14-16 hours at Apple Stores or on the phone with AppleCare representatives, and still do not have the problem resolved.
    SOLUTION
AppleCare US and AppleCare Europe need to resolve their internal family issues without further impacting their customers.
Apple is to process a refund to my credit card for the cost of a full retail priced iPhone 5 64GB black.
    DESIRED OUTCOMES
I have an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) that works in the US on VZW as it did before I received the replacement phone in the UK.
Apple covers the cost of the solution because I did not create the problem.
Apple resolves their internal issue without costing me more time, energy, or money.
This becomes a case study for AppleCare so that future customers are not impacted like I have been by their support system.
Does anyone have recommendations for me?
    Thank you!
    <Edited by Host>

Thanks, but I've been on the phone with AppleCare US (where I am and live) and AppleCare UK. They continue bouncing me back and forth without helping resolve the problem.
Perhaps someones knows how to further escalate the issue at Apple?

  • My MacBook Air (2011) and my iMac (2008) can no longer see each other.

    Hi
My WiFi is via a TimeCapsule which seems to work perfectly well with the Apple TV, Hot plugs for the TV and my iPhone/iPad but my two computers (above with Mavericks operating system) can't see each other any more.  It's been about a week now.  I have restarted both of them but to no avail.  My MacBook Air has alternate backups to a local USB connected hard drive and Time Capsule and both are working fine.  I've tried looking in System Preferences to see if something's turned off but can't find what I'm looking for.  I tried changing the settings in Airport Utility but that made things worse so I've reverted to the original "Bridge Off" mode.  What has happened or have I inadvertently turned off?
    Many thanks

    Hi,
I can see that Accounts/Screen Names can get messed up on the various flags set by an App to and therefore On the AIM servers.
What I can not see in this case is why it seems to be limited to just one Buddy on each computer.
As the Block list (And therefore presumably Allow Lists) are not actually shown in the .p0list I ma hoping that deleting it and restarting ichat at one end at least will reset that iChat form the Defaults haled in the app when you do this.
(you could delete that Account Screen Name from iChat ? Preferences > Accounts to achieve the same things in a more destructive way as it would tend to rewrite all the .plists which may included Jabber ones that are OK
We both did delete our screen names in iChat, and also deleted ALL the prefs manually.
Also, we've tried using entirely different computers to log-in to those same accounts, with the same results - somehow we're blocked from each other.
I think we're both giving up at this stage. We have additional accounts we can use to see each other. But it would be really nice to get to the bottom of it, because if it happens once it can happen again. Who knows? Maybe there are other people in my buddy list that this is happening with right now, but we don't know it. This person just happens to be someone I chat with a lot, and we noticed we weren't seeing each other.

  • Apple TV and iTunes not able to see each other

I think I have found a bug in either iTunes or Apple TV. My network configuration is a bit complicated so I will describe it first.
Cable modem into my house hitting a Linksys WRT330N router at a central box in my laundry room. From there my house is hard wired to different rooms of the house. One goes to my office where I have a Apple Extreme N airport, connected to my PowerMac and my iTunes library. Again out of the central point in the laundry room again hard wired I have a wire going to my living room, where I have another Apple Extreme N airport, this is where my Apple TV is hard wired too. I have all the latest firmware and software installed on all my devices. Also both Airport Extreme's are setup using bridge mode and letting the Linksys serve the IP addresses for my network.
Now to the problem. I can not explain when or why but my Apple TV and iTunes are not able to see each other after about 48 hours. I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting steps including changing my connection from being hard wired to wireless connecting directly to the Airport Extreme my iTunes computer is connected too. I know my network connection is good as I can see trailers and pull up video's from uTube.
The only way to get them to see each other again is to do a factory reset of my Apple TV. After I do this they can both see each other again. But again after about 48 hours they lose the ability to see each other. I have taken these steps twice now to fix the problem
I just finished reseting my Apple TV and am going to watch it to see when it stops working the next time.
All of these problems started the other day when I introduced a new Apple Extreme N router in my my network. The airport Extreme seem to be working fine with my PS3 and XBox 360 that is also connected to it. So I don't think it's the router that is causing the problem.
If I had to guess I would say something in the Apple TV is locking up. Although I have tried power cycling the Apple TV which does not fix the problem. I'm going through 3 routers to get between the Apple TV and the iTunes library somehow it appears the Apple TV is losing it way.
I welcome any help as I don't want to have to keep factory resetting my Apple TV to keep it working.

Fascinating just reading about your setup. I have a WRT350N and have noticed that it will drop its speed, sometimes down to 1Mbps. It seems to do so at about the same time every day, but usually comes back to speed in about 5 minutes. In my experience, the Apple TV will disconnect if the speed falls this low. Try monitoring the Linksys with Netstumbler, Vistumbler, or just in the Windows Network utility.
Check the "lease obtained" and "lease expired" times for your router to see if that is when the network fails. I've just finished reading an angry thread over at the Linksys forum about the WRT330N where someone mentioned that the router wasn't renewing its lease.
"I cannot set it run off automatic DHCP from the WRT330N, the router will not assign it an IP every time the lease expires, causing me to have to manually set an IP on the Print server. That's annoying. Having the router drop IP's to individual machines after 12-48 hours...very annoying."
    http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&thread .id=67412
If that is the problem, then I would consider setting up a Static IP address for your Apple TV. You can do that through the user interface -> Settings -> Network -> Configure ... (Quite intuitive as you only have change IP address and the subsequent details remain the same.)
My router assigns IP Addresses in the ranges of 192.168.1.100 ->149. The idea here is to choose an address outside of that range but is not greater than 192.168.1.253 (and should not end in the number 1). You shouldn't have to change the linksys router as long as 50 clients are assigned in that range. You'll have to figure that out by accessing your router webpage at browser address 192.168.1.1 -> the default password is "admin" (without the quotes).
    Good luck.
