Driver to recognize usb mouse AND disable trackpad for gt780DX

I have updated the trackpad as much as I can but my cursor still jumps inadvertently to other areas of text while I am typing. I know several other branded laptops have the ability to automatically disable the trackpad when a usb mouse is plugged in. Does anyone know of such a driver for the msi gt780DX? There is no current function to do this and its incredibly annoying and happens daily... Thanks...

You didn't mention XP after this, so that and the thread title led me to believe that the problem only occurred in ME. I don't mean to be a jerk, but your initial post wasn't all that clear. And hey, man, I don't "blame" you--it's your hardware and it's yours to do as you please with. I see suspend/resume as a fairly trivial feature; thus, it just seemed to me that replacing a good (in my experience) mobo to fix it was a fairly drastic and costly measure. I was merely trying to help. Best of luck with the new mobo.

  • IMac not recognizing bluetooth nor USB mouse and keyboard

The iMac I use has suffered a pretty annoying problem. I typically use a wireless keyboard and magic mouse with the iMac (I could be wrong, but I believe these both use Bluetooth technology). First, the iMac stopped recognizing these. They kept losing connection last Friday and then suddenly stopped recognizing them at all. Yes, they both have full batteries and blink to show me they are on and searching for the iMac.
Second, I tried using a USB mouse and a USB keyboard to get into the iMac and fix the problem. But neither are recognized by the iMac as well. The mouse is a Dell model that has a red light on the bottom, and it glows red for less than a second when I plug it into the USB port before going dark again and not working. So, I can't get into the iMac to fix the problem.
I've read a few other things on the community boards. I restarted the iMac. I unplugged it completely for several minutes and held down the power button for fifteen seconds while the power was unplugged. I've tried multiple mice and keyboards, all to no effect.
Is the iMac not recognizing the USB keyboard/mouse because it's still searching for the bluetooth versions that it will no longer recognize? Is there a way to fix this without setting up an appointment with the geniuses?
    Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. It started happening on my Late 2012 model iMac 21.5" after applying the latest update.
What I found was that nothing seemed to work connected directly to the iMac. However, if you attach an externally powered USB hub, then all devices attached to the hub will work. It seems as if the USB ports are still working, but without power.
After I was able to get my USB keyboard to work, I was able to zap the PRAM (hold command-option-P-R while powering on) and then magically everything was back to working again. Unfortunately, this was short lived as the problem has resufaced again for me today, but you could give it a try anyway.

  • Why do my mouse and my trackpad not react after a few minutes? I always have to reboot after a few minutes. And I just cleaned the Macbook, so just a fresh Mountain Lion is on the computer.

I had problem with my Macbook (End 2008). It grabbed everything, when I was moving over it with the mouse. And left stuff somewhere else.
So I decided to clean the MacBook and I just put a new system on it, after a new Mountain Lion. Nothing else.
Now the external mouse and the trackpad work after a restart.
But after minutes the trackpad is still moving the mouse over the screen, but I can´t click anything.
    Not even with my mouse.
    What is wrong?

Try going to Starbucks and connect thru their WiFi and see if you experience same issue. If not, it may be your wireless router not compatible to wireless-N built in the macbook pro. It could be your router cycling on and off its connection without even noticing it.  Do you have any other wifi at home that doesn't experience this issue?
You need to do process of elimination. Keep us posted. Thanks!

  • USB mouse and keyboard don't work on HP Pavilion g7 2203sd, Windows 8.1.

It is not possible to use a USB mouse or keyboard on the HP Pavilion g7 2203sd notebook running Windows 8.1.
A wireless mouse used to work (already some time ago), but now wired or wireless mouse and keyboard don't work any more.
I have tried removing USB devices in the Windows Device Manager and let Windows detect them again, but it does not work.
I read somewhere that it might have to do with the xHCI USB controller that is installed.
I tried removing that and connecting the USB mouse but no succes.
I also looked for driver updates or something to disbale in the BIOS (like xHCI), but nothing found for that.
Can anybody help me with this problem.
    Thanks!

  • Latest update: Won't recognize USB mouse

I was prompted to install and restart for the security update this morning and when my computer came to, it would no longer recognize my mouse. What can I do to make it work again?
Computer: First gen dual-core intel Mac Pro
    Mouse: Logitech M500
    Things I've tried:
Plugging it into different USB ports - The mouse is not recognized in any of them.
Installing the latest Logitech software - Since the computer is not "seeing" the mouse, neither is the Logitech sw.
Using another mouse - This works! But it's a crappy mouse and I want my good one back!

I'm sure you were as frustrated as i was,  here is the solution after online chat with hp:
the problem is probably static power, here are the steps:
    1. Unplug the Power Cord from Wall jack and as well as Notebook.
    2. Take Out the Battery from the Notebook.
    3. Hold the Power Button for 30 seconds.
*Plug in the Power Cord without Battery.
    * Turn On the Notebook without Battery
    4. If the Notebook is working properly then Turn Off the Notebook.
    5. Unplug the Power Cord again.
    6. Put On the Battery into the Notebook and then plug in.
    this worked for me!

  • USB mouse and keyboard not responding

I had a power outage yesterday and my iMac was on. I have since tried to start it and my keyboard and mouse are not responding and I get a message that the date on my computer has gone back to before March of 2001. I need help, my hardware warranty just expired and I really don't want to take in it and have to pay $100! Also I put in my start up CD and now I can't get it to eject. Please HELP!!!!!

Does the keyboard and mouse work after the computer boots up? Try unplugging them and plugging them back in. Make sure to plug them in directly to the computer. If it still is not working try the mouse and the keyboard separately one at a time. Look to see is the caps light comes on the keyboard and look to see if the mouse lights up. To set the date and time go to your System Preferences/Date & Time and put a check in the box that says Set date and time automatically(assuming you are connected to the internet). If you can get this far go to System Preferences/Startup Disk and select the install disk as your startup disk and click restart. When it boots up to the disk, instead of going through the installation, click on Utilities at the top and run Disk Utility on your hard drive.

  • USB mouse and keyboard not working

    Any advice/thoughts/suggestions appreciated:
All 3 USB ports at the back of my iMac have stopped working.  This means I can't use either a keyboard or mouse, so have no way of logging in.  I turn my iMac on, it boots up as usual, but when it gets to the login screen, the mouse and keyboard don't work and I get a message about bluetooth set-up. (Both my mouse and keyboard are wired, not bluetooth).
I have tried an SMC reset (by turning the iMac off, unplugging all USB devices and the power cable, leaving the iMac for a few minutes and then plugging the cable back in a turning it on again).  This didn't work.
I've also tried a different version of the SMC reset where I hold down the power button whilst all the cables are unplugged and also as I plug the power cable back in.  After doing this, the fan turns on at full speed (v loud), but the mouse and keyboard still don't work.
I've also checked my mouse on a different computer and it works fine.
Has anyone got any other suggestions / workarounds?
Note I can't do a PRAM reset because my keyboard doesn't work.
Is it probably that the USB hardwear has failed?  If so, is it possible to repair this?  It is worth repairing given it is a 5/6 year old iMac (the white plastic one) which is probably on its last legs anyway?
    many thanks!
    Jez.

Try the SMC reset again, only this time wait 5 minutes in set 3 instead of fifteen seconds.
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds. 5 minutes.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • I have a regular usb mouse and it isn't working. It sometimes clicks, but it can't make the cursor move. The red light will not turn on.

I have been using a mouse with my MacBook Pro for a very very long time now:
    Optical USB Mouse:
      Product ID:    0xc016
      Vendor ID:    0x046d  (Logitech Inc.)
      Version:     3.40
      Speed:    Up to 1.5 Mb/sec
      Manufacturer:    Logitech
      Location ID:    0x06200000 / 3
      Current Available (mA):    500
      Current Required (mA):    100
I'm running OS 10.6.8 on a MacBookPro that is fairly old.
The mouse is detected on the USB port, either one, but the red light won't light anymore so I can't use it to move the cursor. I've tried rebooting, I've tried the cammand-option.P.R thing. Still no red light.
    Help?

    Mouse Gas?
I took both of them to work and both worked fine in a different Mac laptop. I brought home two other mice and they both work here in my home computer. That works, but I wish I knew why the first two don't work at home because the logitec mouse I bought for home has very light action and the center wheel needs only a very light touch. I really really liked it and can't find one like it to replace it with.

  • Strange issue with USB mouse and USB headset.

    Good day everyone.
I was experiencing a rather strange issue with my mouse and headset(both USB).
I am using KDE and ALSA, if that matters.
They are working just fine, but sometimes, when I try to lower\raise volume, my mouse derps out. I can move it around, but I can't click on anything(sometimes though, I can click on stuff in window that was active before and sometimes only on KDE panel) until I re-plug my headset. Then, nothing can use my headset until I reboot.
    Anybody ever had that problem?

I've had similar problems for some time now. Unfortunately, I don't know what the issue is either, but perhaps we can come up with some setup similarities and narrow it down. I have similar trouble with just alsa or with pulseaudio, so that's not it. It is unrelated to the DE, as it happened for me in both gnome 2 and xfce 4. It is not related to the machine either, as the same quirks occur in other machines with the same headset. I have had inconclusive results with downgrading to kernel26-lts, the ancient kernel. I thought at some point it messed up and I was sure the older kernel didnt help, but after trying recently-ish, I had no trouble for days -- until I found that I didn't have trouble on the main kernel either. ... then a few days later, it showed up again. Very irritating!
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=122475
Does my old thread sound like your issue somewhat?
Essentially, at times, if the headset (wireless) is changed into a different power state (unplugged/plugged) or the mic state is toggled (mute/unmute), things that could be clicked on normally cant unless theyre in the window already focused -- mostly.
What headset are you using? 32 or 64 bit arch? Have you tried downgrading to kernel26-lts?

  • X300 USB mouse (and bluetooth mouse) stutters

    Hi,
I have a X300 which works really great apart from one really annoying problem:
The internal mouse works great (UltraNav) however when I connect an external USB mouse (Logitech or Microsoft) the mouse sometimes works great but may times it stutters very badly.
I am running Vista with 802.11N (tried G with the same problem), Kaspersky and Firefox.
I thought that I might have a problem with the USB mouse conflicting with my WIFI so I bought the Lenovo Bluetooth Mouse - only to see the same problem.
One thing I noticed was that  even if the external stutters - the internal Ultranav works like a charm - no stutter at all.
    Any ideas?

  • Huawei e220 hangs on Mac Mini G4 and USB mouse and keyboard slow way down

I have a Mac Mini G4 running os10.5.8 My mouse and keyboard are a creative wireless combination that go to a USB hub then to the USB port on the mini. When I use my Huwei e220 wireless broadband modem, it frequently hangs when disconnecting, and the mouse and keyboard barely work. Activity monitor shows the CPU load is not very high at all, yet the mouse is almost stuck. If I put the computer to sleep, then it comes back and works fine. Its a bit of a hassle, and seems to be specific to the USB on the mac mini.

Is the modem connected via USB?
