Driver Update Error

Did a clean install of XP Pro last week. This morning, I updated the driver for my XF-I card to ver 2-8.0008. When I rebooted I got a Fatal Error box pop up, RegOpenKeyEx() Failed. It looks like it is tied to the Vol Control Panel.exe. I went to the Creative menu in the Start up menu and clicked the Volune Control Panel Icon and an error popped up saying"Failed to load". The Vol Panel icon was in my system tray before the driver update but not now. Any fixes for this issue other than uninstalling and reinstalling the XF-I CD software? Thanks.

? A little background on what caused this mess in the first place. I have an aircraft add-on which required a newer sound driver than the one that was on my X-Fi CD. I downloaded the latest driver from Creative ver 2-8_003 and installed it after removing the older first in the Device Manager. When I rebooted, that is when I got the Vol Control Panel error. Also, the Creative Console Launcher wouldn't launch. I figured it might be a corrupt driver download.
So, I went back into the Device Manager and deleted the driver I had just installed. Then I uninstalled the Soundblaster X-Fi program in the Add/Remove Program. I then inserted my X-Fi CD and did a Custom Install choosing what applications that I wanted to install (minus the Driver).
After that was done I installed a previous driver I had saved ver 2-8_008. Rebooted and all applications worked correctly. Hope this makes sense.

    I keep getting Error code 1603 whenever I try to install the boot camp driver update under Windows Vista, it says something about a restart pending in the event log but I've restarted twice and it hasn't changed a thing, is there any way to fix this?

    right click on my computer, go to manage, then to device manager.
    Under display adapters, remove everything, may ask to reboot, try rebooting or just run installer again.
    This fixed it for me, i tried so many things before i found this fix.

  • Premiere Elements 10 - HD Graphics Driver Update - Error Message

    I recently got an error message advising me to update my intel HD graphics driver; I updated 5 months ago - all worked well; now I'm getting the message again, however windows says my drivers are up to date and cannot be updated - but Premiere Elements keeps asking for an updated driver; now, the edit sytem performance is horrible and I get a white screen everytime I attempt to playback video from the edit timeline. Any Solutions?

    Thanks for the reply. The deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file is your best opportunity for a resolution. So, let us pursue that.
    If you have Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 64 bit, the BadDrivers.txt file is there. But....in your attachments, you show
    Program Files
    Program Files (x86)
    and no signs of Program Data where you must start in the path to the BadDrivers.txt file.
    a. Could you be using Windows 7 32 bit?
    or
    b. Are you working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
    In Windows 7 64 bit,
    Click on Start
    In the Search field that appears above Start, type in Folder Options.
    Folder Options text will appear at the top of that left column for you to click on.
    Clicking on Folder Options will bring up its dialog.
    Click on the View Tab of the Folder Options dialog.
    Then scroll down the list of options under View until you reach Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives,
    and make sure that it is selected.
    Program Data should appear in the lineup which includes Program Files and Program Files (x86).
    Please let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • HP Elitebook 8560p driver update error: IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver

    Hi there,
    Hoping someone can help..
    So I tried updating/installing the latest IDT Audio driver for my Elitebook 8560p, but get this error each time:
    I'm pretty sure this is because I stupidly uninstalled IDT soon after getting the laptop.. I did this because I use a seperate audio interface for recording music and didn't want any conflicts. I didn't realize uninstalling this would disable the internal audio entirely (and irreversibly it seems)! My audio still works when I connect my external audio interface, but this is quite annoying as I have to bring the interface with me everywhere, like I can't just watch a Youtube video and listen through internal speaker OR headphone output..I have to hook it up to my interface each time..urgh. My own fault I know, but I would have thought this driver installation package would work and put it back on my system..
    FYI, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
    I remember reading a thread about this eact same problem ages ago, someone had done the same thing and was having the same problem re-enabling//re-installing it. I think he managed to find a fix that worked for him that involved removing the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds, or something along those lines.. I remember trying that method by copying his instructions step-by-step, but it didn't work for me
    Anyone else, or any HP tech support know any kind of fix for this? Fingers crosed.
    Many thanks for any help or advice in advance!
    Lauren

  • Superhard drive update errors after download

    I've downloaded the update I know at least 20 times and after the download I get an error message. I've followed the instructions to go in App>Utlities> Superdrive update app and get an error occured during download. What gives?!?!?!?!

    Hi dmoretton,
    We need more details about your system transfer process. Since third party clone software frequently cause system corruption and it’s not fixable, We only recommend two ways for system installation on new hard disk: performing a clean install or using windows
    system image restore and both ways need reactivate Windows 7.
    Please make sure you were using windows system image restore for transmission and Windows 7 has been reactivated
    If you used third party clone software for transmission, we recommend that perform a new install for your new hard disk.

  • WPD Filesystem Driver Update error!

    I have recently bought a 120GB Classic and it works okay, syncs okay, and is recognised by both the PC and itunes, but every time i connect it, my computer tries to update/install driver software for the Microsoft WPD Filesystem Volume Driver, and every time it fails, telling me to contact the manufacturer in order to resolve the problem.
    I've since scoured the internet for possible solutions, and none have worked so far. I need to get this sorted out ASAP as it's becoming very irritating each time I sync my ipod!! Has anybody else suffered this problem, and if so, how did you resolve it?

    Well I'm very pleased to say that I've managed to stop this from happening, and here's how:
    1.Open Start Menu and right click on Computer
    2. Select Manage which will open Device Manager window
    3.Right-click on the unknown device symbol (which should have a yellow exclamation mark on it)
    4.Select Disable
    Problem solved.

    I have a new iMac 27 with a nVidia GTX 680MX Video card. While I got everything installed correctly regarding Windows 7 (64) and all the drivers from Apple, I am trying to download a newer version of the 680MX driver from nVidia. I tried to install the new driver, and I get an error message saying that it cant locate a compatible card.
    I doublechecked the selections and am downloading the 600 series driver. Is there another driver that I should be looking for? Or does someone have a link where I can get the correct one?

    What does Device Manager show?
    Link to the 600M version driver?
    What is the graphics WEI performance show?
    There use to be trouble, but I thought those issues were a thing of the past.

  • Windows update causing BSOD in my new B50-30 with DRIVER-IRQL error

    Hi folks - I'm really hoping someone else has found a way to deal with a similar issue.
    I bought a b50-30 about three weeks ago, and everything has been fine until the latest rounds of Windows updates. During the normal update blue screen, It got stuck (I gave it 24 hours just in case!) on "update 5 of 31", so I eventually had to force restart. That led to a blue screen with the annoying smiley emoticon for a frown, and it claimed to be "collecting some error I fo and then we'll restart for you" but it showed a 0% progress reading, which didn't change during the 12 hours I (patiently) let it run. The specific error message was DRIVER-IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL. Eventually I force-restarted a second time and went into Safe Mode, and the updates appeared to restart and make progress. Eventually the computer started normally again. Victory?
    All was fine for a week, and then the bloody thing got stuck on the next round of infernal Windows updates, this time not getting past "28 of 61 updates". When I force restart, I get the BSOD with the same DRIVER-IRQL error message and the same 0% progress reading that won't make progress no matter how long I leave it. Unfortunately, this time, opening in safe mode won't work for me, as it merely brings me back to the identical BSOD screen. Now I have no way to restart the bloody thing at all (other than going for a full recovery, which I'm hoping to be able to avoid). I also tried the "refresh" function, which went through the percentage progress fully, but resulted in the same BSOD. Interestingly, it won't allow me to "restore".
    Does anyone have any brilliant advice, other than throwing it out a window and never buying either Lenovo or Windows again?
    Thanks all
    EJS

    hi Arie,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    If you;re able to see the SSD in the BIOS and/or see it under Disk Management while using the stock HDD then you may want to consider the following:
    1. Boot from the stock HDD and update the BIOS
    BIOS Update Utility - Ideapad 305-15IBY, Lenovo B40-30, B50-30, B50-30 touch, E40-30 Laptops
    2. Update the SSD's firmware to  MU02 (latest as of this writing).
    http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/support-ssd-firmware
    3. Using the stock HDD, connect the Crucial SSD and convert the volume to MBR first to see if there's a compatibility using the drive as GPT.
    If none of the above methods works then there's likely a compatibility issue with the SSD's controller and/or the BIOS (similar to this thread). In this case, consider using a different brand (e.g., Samsung) and observe.

  • [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in UPDATE statement.

    Hi,
    I am getting following error message ,
    [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in UPDATE statement.
    When run this code.
    <%@ page import= "java.sql.*"%>
    <%
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:bspipdb");
    Statement st = con.createStatement();
    st.executeUpdate("update tscipshift set 11-Aug-08='M' where TechN='Elamparuthi'");
    %>
    tscipshift=table ,column=11-Aug-08 are all exist.
    I dont know why I am getting error mesage.
    Any idea why?

    you haven't set your user name and password hereI don't believe that's necessary with Access. Then again, it's not an enterprise database.
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:bspipdb");
    change it to this
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:bspipdb","+username+","+password+");
    here pass your username and password...
    In Oracle default user name and password is
    username = scott
    password = tigerSo who uses that? Only an eejit would leave that account open.
    So the statement would be
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:bspipdb","scott","tiger");
    or In Mirosoft Access there is no user name and password so the statement will be Like I said - unnecessary, and not the reason the OP is having problems.
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:bspipdb","","");>
    Besides this change your table name 11-Aug-08 to anything that is not start with number or any special symbols.
    for example aug112008 is good or aug is too good.No, it's still not good if you understand ANYTHING about relational databases and normalization.
    I think it would work.I think you're just as stup!d as the OP.

  • What can I do about driver updates that will not install because of an "unknown error".

    I have an HP p6530 Pavilion that is taking a while to startup. Not real long but longer then it should. I tried to install driver updates from Intel for the Chipset and RAID but when I download and install it will not finish the install because of an "unknown error" and then setup exits. I could really use advice from anyone that can help.

    Have you tried to disable your virus protection and any running programs in the system tray? Turn off any programs that are not necessary before you run the updates.  Make sure you run the updates as administrator (right click on the driver install program and click on run as administrator).

    Hi
    Try to delete all content (format by clean install), then you can install Mavericks, however I think its better to add mavericks into External fladh drive (USB)
    to do clean install"
    the language in the screenshot is Swedish which is same in English "Radera= delete), make sure you do back up first for you photos, music, documents,,,,,etc.

  • Start up error and beats audio crackling after realtech driver update

    I am having several issues.
    If I plug in a external hard drive, the OS will not start and goes to "press esc for start up menu" in lower left corner on a black screen. I press esc and it goes to boot options.  I have done what HP states and hard started my computer twice and it did not help, and I have found no other suggestion to try and fix this. I have tried everything, including a system recovery and it still goes to the start up menu options.  If I disconnect the external, it will still appear, but the operating system will start up after a few seconds.  Why do I have to disconnect my external to start OS.  And for some reason, my external has been seated in the hardrive section of my computer, instead of the removable storage devices in my computer.
    Also, after updating realtech driver, my beats audio speakers pops and cracks. I tried to roll back driver, but no changes. Please help. I dont want to go thru the trouble of sending my computer back for repair. This is really upsetting!!!!  I cannot play any videos or music, because of the crackling.  Why did it do that, and is it fixable.  My laptop has not been jarred or dropped in any manner to have caused any damage.  It started after the driver update, and even tho I rolled back the driver, it still does this.

    Hi @rbuckner35 ,
    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 17t-f000  Notebook and issues with Beats Audio and startup issues. The startup looks at the USB as one of your Boot options. So it can not load anything until it know that this is not a boot device.
    You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings which could resolve the issue with the sound.
    Here is a fix that has helped others.
    1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
    2. Click Playback Devices.
    3. Click Speakers.
    4. Click properties.
    5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
    6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
    7. Apply the properties.
    8. Click OK to close the properties window.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks.
