Drivers/firmware for ethernet port?

I recently got rid of my PC (YAY!!!), meaning I no longer need my cheap crappy wireless router. However, when I hook my Ethernet cable up to the port in my PB, I can not connect to the web. I'd like to try reinstalling the necessary driver/firmware, as doing so recently solved my non-working USB ports problem, but I don't know where to find the driver... Can anybody post a link to a site where I can download a driver? Or perhaps have a better way to connect?
(I understand that what I am looking for is probably under my nose, but I'm not computer savvy enough to know what terms to search for.... heh..)
thanks

Sorry, posted this one in the wrong department... I asked in the proper one (Networking, internet, etc...) Mods can delete this if so desire

  • Bridge for ethernet port

I am looking for a bridge for ethernet port of MSI 180. The bridge is used for wireless connection (It changes wired connection type to wireless one either 11b or 11g). Is there a bridge compatible with Mega 180?

    Well as for the WGA54G,
I am (again!) struggling to get it working, I recently had issues where the reset button did not work (thank god I remembered my password)
For some reason any changes I made were not saved, that got fixed by updating the firmware.
It does not support WPA (have to check to be sure)
It does only support one device (so you cannot connect a switch to it and have multiple devices connected to your network.
For some reason it does not understand I have a DHCP server running, I have issues getting the DHCP forwarded to the device it is supposed to create wireless for.
connectivity is so-so I had to cap the max transfer limit to get a stable connection.
If I were to buy one again (which I may do, since I need it to connect my DVD player to my network) I would buy a accesspoint, and not a game adapter.
As for brands I will definitately not buy Linksys again, nor Asus. I bought a Asus PCI wifi adapter, which has buggy software (maybe related to Windows ME).
Does anyone else have comments on wireless suppliers that have good software added to their hardware. I am quite happy with my 3Com router, which is quite easy to manage.
Do not have comments on WAP54G, as above I will not buy a linksys product again.
How is US Robotics for instance ?

  • Wrt54gl: Led for ethernet port two always on.

I've had my router for three days now and have only managed to establish an ethernet connection with my computer two times. Of those two times the wired connection lasted only a couple of hours before being lost, but the wireless connection always remains stable. A weird thing I noticed when setting my router for the first time was this: The led indicator for ethernet port two was always on and, indeed, remains always on despite there not being any connection in the port.
On my first successful connection I could only manage to get a signal through port two (with ports one, three and four giving me no such luck). With my second successful connection I managed to get established through port one while port two's led, as always, remained lit.
My question is this: Could this led be indicitive of some hardware problem?

That's strange,I would suggest you to hard-reset the router for 45 seconds, power cycle the router and re-configure it from scratch...Now,check the port no 2.

  • New drivers / firmware for CDRW? and which one do i have?

hi, i have the Dragonwriter, the sticker on it says made in June 2002.  It reports during startup, and in Device Manageras teh CD-RW MS-8340 firmware version 100d.  It also says the driver is from Microsoft 4-23-99, but then goes on to say no driver is loaded or required for this device.
    Very weird.
I can't yet find any update files on the MSI site ... i found a description of the 8340 which is listed as having a writing speed of 48x ... but mine is more like the CR-40, as it only has 40x according to the label on the box and front of the burner.  So shouldn't my drive be reporting something other than 8340?
In any event, the Nero 5.5 s that came with the drive only lets me burn at up to 32x !  Have i been ripped off somehow?
so i'm all confused, can someone please set me straight as to if i need to upgrade or change my drivers/firmware/bios etc?  And is it Nero's fault or my drives fault that i can't get the option to write at 40x?
    thanks!

thanks guys!  yes, now that i've put a 40x disc in the drive, it is indeed now giving me the option to burn at that speed!
i still need to sort out a problem with the firmware updater.  This is what it spits out:
Detecting CD-ROM drives (check 2 IDE cables, 4 ports)
    Checking IDE #1 ok
    Checking IDE #2 ok
    No CD-ROM drive are detected
that seems weird eh?  I most certainly do have my cd-rw on Secondary Master, and cd-r on Secondary Slave.  Perhaps is this the stupid message it returns with if the firmware doesn't need updating?
btw, how to know what firmware i have?  It says 'firmware revision 100d' in Device Mangler, if that is the correct one.  Does anyone know to what version the vow-dos.exe updater is set to update to?
    cheers,
    charlie

  • Netctl, ip and drivers issue for ethernet and wlan

    Hi,
I recently installed the version of archlinux with netctl instead of netcfg.
During the installation I think I've used netcfg and it was all running smoothly. Then I wanted to configure my connection on the system, but it's impossible in all the ways I tried. I followed the beginner's guide then copied the wireless-wpa profile from the examples folder to the netctl folder, then
    sudo netctl start profilename
    . I've also
sudo ip link set wlp4s0 up
but then i got with the show option:
3: wlp4s0: <NO-CARRIER, BROADCAST, MULTICAST, UP> mtu 1500 qdisc state DOWN mode DEFAULT qlen 1000
    link/ether 68:a3:c4:df:17:8e brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
I get the same result with enp2s0. I've already run dhcpcd.
Then I controlled drivers. I have a ralink rt5390 card and it's using rt2800pci. Ethernet card it's realtek rtl8111/8168 and is using r8169. How can I connect to the internet? I need it, thanks in advance.
Ps: sorry for my terrible English, I'm Italian

I'm not on my Arch machine at the moment, but let's see if we can fix this.
For the moment, try setting up your wired connection first. If you are sure your wired device's name is [enp2s0] then (run as root):
You might want to kill DHCPCD before starting.
    # systemctl start dhcpcd@enp2s0 <---this is to enable DHCP for your wired connection
    # systemctl enable dhcpcd@enp2s0 <---this is to enable DHCP automatically at boot
    # dhcpcd
You can also refer to network-configuration page.

  • Where are Drivers/Firmware for HP DVD1170e???

I have looked everywhere, even HP's own driver search says no results, unreal! anyone know where I can get these drivers, I am trying to install Windows 7 from scratch and I get a message saying missing CD/DVD driver at the start of the install.

    Hi,
The Drives the Installation is asking for is of SATA/RAID Drivers.
Please restart the Computer, as you see initial screen (POST), please start pressing F10 until BIOS screen is shown, click Advanced Menu on BIOS window, navigate to ‘SATA1 Controller Mode’ or SATA Mode entry, press enter, select IDE, and press Enter, press F10 to save and Exit to restart the Computer.
Restart Windows 7 CD inserted, it will not ask for RAID Drivers through F6 Method.
    Thank You.

  • Drivers/Firmware for T3100?

I just recently reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP on my system and cant seem to locate the CD (if there was a CD) with the software necessary to use the T3100 speakers. I dont remember if there actually was a CD or not however. I also cant find any evidence of this software on creative.com/support or anywhere else on the internet.
The speakers turn on fine, but no sound comes out at all.
When I go to sounds and audio devices, everything is greyed out, like there are no audio hardware connected at all. Could this be a sound card problem ?
    thanks

Yes. The sound card needs the drivers, speakers do not (and never have) needed drivers (unless they are usb).

  • Can I use the Airport Express to connect to a Linksys Wireless Network and then use the Ethernet port on the Airport for a wired connection to a device for internet access?  Would I be able to then also use that Ethernet pt to a Ntwk Hub for more wired c

Thanks for the help.  Looked but not clear on what I am trying to do as being possible.  Can I use an Airport Express to connect wireless to a Linksys Wireless Router, such that I can then use the Ethernet ports on the Airport to either connected to a PC wired, or even use a hub off the Airport Express to allow multiple wired connections to it?
I am not looking to have the Airport Express extend my wireless network, just connect to it and provide me wired connections in a different location from where my Linksys Route is located.  Would prefer to replace Linksys with all Apple, but just not possible financially yet.  Thanks for the help.

If the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is an 802.11n model, then yes, you can reconfigure it as a wireless Ethernet bridge. In this configuration, the AX would join the wireless network provided by the Linksys router and its Ethernet port would be enabled for either a single wired device or for an Ethernet hub or switch for multiple devices.

  • How to specify one ethernet port for network home directories (other for normal filesharing)?

So I'm trying to get Home Directories up and running on a 10.6.8 Xserve (waiting until I get my NFS sharepoints migrated to a Linux server [for other reasons] before moving up to 10.7 Server). But posting here since that will be happening in the next few weeks, and it might be applicable now (so I can at least get that resolved ahead of time).
I have a different DNS entry for each ethernet port: server.office.domain.com at 192.168.0.11 for the first, and homes.services.internal at 192.168.0.10 for the second. DNS lookups for both resolve correctly (as does the reverse lookup).
If I use the Server Admin to pick a sharepoint as an automount for Home Directories, everything is fine, but it picks the server.office.domain.com hostname. Picking that works just fine, but that is also the connection that feeds the filesharing. I'd prefer to split that home directory traffic out onto the second ethernet port. So I tried just duplicating the initial connection (since it can't be edited directly in Workgroup Manager) and changing the hostname to the internal one, but I get an error when attempting to log in (the client login screen gives a very helpful "Couldn't login because of an error" error message) and don't see anything in the server logs.
The client machine shows the following line:
    Code:
    10/20/12 5:27:42.688 PM authorizationhost: ERROR | -[HomeDirMounter mountNetworkHomeWithURL:attributes:dirPath:username:] |
         PremountHomeDirectoryWithAuthentication( url=afp://homes.services.internal/Users,
         homedir=/Network/Servers/homes.services.internal/Volumes/HomeDirectories/Users/ user123, name=user123 ) returned 45
(added line breaks so it didn't extend off the page)
So it looks like this is failing because the automount isn't in place, but I'm not sure how to work that out either (i.e. how do I add that making sure it uses the internal hostname?).
Any suggestions on getting this to work?
I realize one solution is just to LACP the two ports, but that is a different ball of wax (I may do that later if I get a 4 port ethernet card and performance limitations demand it).

A possible solution might be this.
On ADSLBOX and CABLEBOX configure different subnets for the LAN, e.g.
    ADSLBOX:    192.168.1.0/24
    CABLEBOX: 192.168.2.0/24
The MEDIABOX gets these static IPs:
    ADSL-LAN: 192.168.1.2
    CABLE-LAN: 192.168.2.2
On the MEDIABOX, configure the two network interfaces using two routing tables.
    The ADSL-LAN routing table
ip route add 192.168.1.0/24 dev eth0 src 192.168.1.2 table 1
ip route add default via 192.168.1.1 table 1
    The CABLE-LAN routing table
ip route add 192.168.2.0/24 dev eth1 src 192.168.2.2 table 2
ip route add default via 192.168.2.1 table 2
    The main routing table
ip route add 192.168.1.0/24 dev eth0 src 192.168.1.2
ip route add 192.168.2.0/24 dev eth1 src 192.168.2.2
    # use the CABLE-LAN gateway as default, so general internet traffic from MEDIABOX runs over CABLEBOX
ip route add default via 192.168.2.1
    define the lookup rules
ip rule add from 192.168.1.2 table 1
ip rule add from 192.168.2.2 table 2
    To test the setup:
    ip route show
    ip route show table 1
    ip route show table 2
I don't know how to persist something like this in ArchLinux using netctl. Might require to write a special systemd unit for it. Above is a working example from a RedHat box at my company.

  • Can I convert a PB 1400's PC card port to a ethernet port for file sharing?

My plan here is to connect a PowerBook 1400cs/133 running OS 8.6 to an iBook G4 running OS 10.4 by means of an ethernet crossover cable, and move my important files (ClarisWorks 4.0 docs and games mostly) to the new computer. But the PB 1400 has no ethernet port! Is there something I can put in the PC card slot that will convert it to an ethernet port?

    jpl, Denis, here's my setup:
The PB 1400 is connected to the iBook via a Farallon EtherWave/EtherMac Ethernet PC Card (with a blue arrow, PCMCIA 2.1, PC Card Standard). I have the Farallon software installed and the Farallon extension turned on. A "Farallon EN Card" icon appears on my desktop, and the little light on the cord where it connects to the card is green. I used to use the card to connect to the internet back in the day when the 1400 was my primary computer, so I'm confident it works.
The PB 1400 (name: Ben's PowerBook 1400): AppleTalk, configured to connect via alternate ethernet. File sharing, on. TCP/IP, connected via AppleTalk (Mac IP). I've tried configuring that both "Using Mac IP server" and manually by entering in the iBook's IP address and router address (the 1400 is not connected to the internet). As far as I can tell, Users/Groups is configured; it has "Ben" as "user" and "Guest" as "guest user."
The iBook (name: Ben's iBook G4) is set up basically identical to the way jpl describes his iMac above. Like his, the services panel of sharing on the iBook says "Other Macintosh users can access your computer at afp://x.x.x.6." I also manually entered the iBook's IP address, subnet mask, and router. Under my shared location, under Built-in Ethernet, TCP/IP is configured and AppleTalk is active.
Still, file sharing is not working. When I try to access the iBook from the 1400, I go to the Chooser, click the AppleShare icon, and "Ben's iBook G4" in the file server window. When I select it and click OK, I go to a screen to enter my name (Ben) and password as a registered user. I'm not sure if the password it wants is the file sharing password I set up for the 1400 or the administrator password for the iBook, so I tried them both. I also tried connecting as a "guest." In all cases, after I hit the "Connect" button, I got the error message "The connection to this server has been unexpectedly broken."
No luck going the opposite direction either. When I go to Go: Connect to Server: Browse on the iBook, "Ben's PowerBook 1400" appears in the Network area, but when I select it and hit the "connect" button, I get this error message: "The file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP protocol. You cannot connect to it."

Which one can I use properly to monitor all the wireless Devices in my hous

Actually, none of the options will do what you are looking for it to do. That is because, this application only monitors the traffic from the device it is hosted on. That would also mean that you would have to run a copy on each computer that will access the Internet on your network; note their individual usages, and then, combine them to get an idea of the total usage.
However, if you are only interested in the amount of Wi-Fi traffic that only your computer is seeing, then the "AirPort Network Card" option would be the correct choice.

but how i can i acquire image with IP camera and fpga ???
The Ethernet hardware interface in the cRIO is not directly connected to the FPGA backplane in a way that you could directly access it. Even if you could it would be a pretty bad idea to try to do. A fully operational TCP/IP network stack implementation in the FPGA would not leave much resources for anything else even on the biggest FPGAs available. That doesn't include support for the typical image compression algorithmes which are even more complicated to implement on FPGA. Even if you would go to highly optimized VHDL code directly it would be a pretty difficult thing to do!
In fact implemenintg the MAC and PHY of an ethernet interface on the FPGA is totally trivial in comparison. The IP level could also be implemented fairly easily in the FPGA but anything above that is going to give you bad headaches and still will be very limited in number of connections and packet sizes it can support.
