ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card is conflicting with additional memory
I have a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card. I have a 645E Max motherboard (MS-6547). I recently purchased a 512MB dimm of Kingston PC2700 Cas 2.5 memory (KVR333X64C25/512) to go with the the 256MB dimm of the same model # above. I installed the memory and my screen stays blank. When I remove the new dimm it runs fine. I did get the memory and the motherboard tested at the store where I got the motherboard and they work fine. I came to the conclusion it was my video card when I removed all my components except the memory and the video card, and turned on the machine, nothing. I did try swiching dimm location and changing any bios settings I thought would make it work. I tried updating the video card drivers and motherboard AGP drivers. If anybody had this problem in the past could you tell me how you got it to work.
I took the board and the 2 dimms to the store where I bought them. They hooked up both dimms and a video card to the board. When it was powered up, both dimms were recognized. After I got home I proceded to determine if another component it conflicting with the memory. I started with both dimms and my video card the Radeon. I powered up with no other hardware connected and the screen remains blank. I remove the 512MB dimm and leave the 256MB dimm in, and powered up and pc booted up normally.

ATI Radeon X1950 Pro video card and Quicktime Pro
In an earlier thread, I found out that the reason Quicktime Pro was not working on my new computer is that Apple has not yet worked out incompatibilities with QT Pro and new nVidia video cards. Since I need the QT Pro to do my movie editing work, I am going to switch to another high end video card. Does anyone know if an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro video card works with QT Pro? If not, is there another high-end card that someone can recommend?
ThanksSounds like you need a bigger case.

Drivers for Sun Floppy under Win 2000 on SUN Pci card.
Hi,
I'm running a Sun Blade 150 with Solaris 8. I have a Sun Pci card with Windows 2000 loaded. When Win2k boots, it asks for drivers for a "sun floppy". I've looked around for these drivers but I can't find them. Can anyone point me to them. Thanks.Take a closer look at the actual card,
particularly at the central Ethernet chip.
If I recall correctly, it is a DEC DC2115x chipset for 10/100Mbit connectivity,
and should be natively recognized by Linux.
The 501-5406 QFE card, as shown on a 3rd party web site.
Install it and boot your system.
You should know in just a few moments whether it'll work,
or whether the Sun firmware is of any concern. -
Will X1650XT 512MB AGP Video Card work with 865PE MS-6728?
Hi,
My video card is fried, so I'm thinking of upgrading to a HIS X1650XT AGP 512MB video card. I read somewhere that some motherboards have issues with 512MB video cards. Is this true? I can't find anymore info on whether this motherboard will support this video card.

Anyone have any input?
Thanks! No need to get hostile, I didn't say you were an idiot. Though continuing to make uninformed statements might get you there....

The video cards need at least 30A to make the card run properly. That's pretty damn easy to understand how the last PSU was the problem.
Actually, it doesn't. The 30A figure cited by the manufacturer is a worse case scenario for +12V needs of the entire system + the graphics card. The X1650XT doesn't even need an auxillary PCI Express power connector and can be powered entirely through the PCI Express slot, which supports a maximum of 75W.
If you need further proof of this, for CrossFire setups the manufacturer cites a figure of 38A on the +12V rail. If one card requires 30A, how could two cards require only 8A (96W) more than one? The same requirements are stated for X1950XT (30A single and 38A Crossfire), so its a highly generic target that attempts to account for an entire range of power supply rating methods and total system power demands.
Here are total power consumption measurements of whole systems used in various X1650XT tests:
Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X6800 @ 2.93 GHz
Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C4
Western Digital 150GB 10K Raptor
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value
AMD ATI Radeon X1650 XT
Total system power under 3D load = 206 Watts MAX
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
2GB Crucial PC-4000
Western Digital 74GB 10K Raptor
AMD ATI Radeon X1650 XT
Total system power under 3D load = 192 Watts MAX (only 66W higher for 2 x X1650XT in CrossFire)
Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X6800 (2.93GHz/4MB)
Seagate 7200.7 160GB SATA
Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 (1GB x 2)
AMD ATI Radeon X1650 XT
Total system power under 3D load = 182 Watts MAX
Those are figures for TOTAL system power needs, not the graphics card itself. Here are figures just for the X1650XT from X-bit Labs:
55.2 Watts @ full load
That's not more than 5A MAX from the +12V rail. Even assuming a 20% VRM loss, gets us to around 6A MAX.
As anyone can plainly see, the manufacturer's stated requirement of 30A is a hugely overinflated number to help people avoid purchasing a power supply like this because they are looking only at hugely inflated total power.
Given that your X1650XT could not possibly require more than 6A of 12V+ power, and high-end systems using overclocked Dual Core Extreme don't even consume more than around 250W TOTAL (all components combined, factoring VRM loss), the evidence is now overwhelming and beyond dispute that your previous power supply was more than adequate and that inadequate power was never the cause of your problem. It could have been defective, but that isn't the same as having inadequate power.

865G Neo2-PLS 512Mb AGP video card compatability
Does anyone know if the 865G Neo2-PLS will support a 512Mb ATI X1650 Pro graphics card? I've read in some reviews that some older boards don't support video cards with that much memory.

CS4 with Quadro FX 1700 512MB (Tested Video Cards?)
After seeing a topic posted here with tested video cards, I went to the link to confirm my card was indeed supported and it is on the list of tested cards. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405711&sliceId=1
I only installed this card yesterday, replacing my GEForce 9800GT and last night when working with Photoshop certain things were incredibly slow, I was working with the sliders in Selective Color and there was a massive delay when I dragged a slider so much so that is was virtually unusable. So I went into Photoshops preferences and disabled the Open GL Drawing and immediately Photoshop was responsive again.
This begs the question why the performance got so bad with Open Gl turned on with a card that Adobe has tested? Could it be a driver? Could it be a setting on the Driver? I do have the latest driver from PNY, I am running the card under Vista 64, could it be the 64bit OS?
Any insight would be most welcome.Hi Chris
Sorry for my belated reply and thanks for offering to look into this.
Here's my full specs:
Intel DX58SO motherboard
Intel Core i7 965 Extreme (Thermalrite Ultra-120 Extreme Cooler)
Kingston DDR-3 6 GB
4 x Seagate Sata-2 1TB drives
OS: Windows Vista 64
PNY Quadro FX1700
I've tried various drivers on the video card and for only one day I was able to run Photoshop with OpenGL turned on, a day later it went all sluggish again and nothing changed in my system from the one day to the next.
I've also played with settings (application specific) on the video card driver but it does not seem to improve anything either.
Is there a way to completely and utterly remove the video drivers so I can reload them fresh? Vista always seems to hide copies of these things even though you do full uninstalls of them. -
AE CS6 doesnt recognize my ATI Radeon HD 6850 video card GPU
As in the title, it keeps me saying GPU is not enabled while OpenGL 4.1 is supported. Any suggestions?
The video driver should be correctly updated, i launched just yesterday a quick AMD app to do that.
I dont get what screenshot you want, i dont have any OpenGL preferences in Video Card settings, but i do have put below the screenshot of AE OpenGL preferences, evenif the first part is in Italian.

Can I install ATI radeon 3450(512 mb) in HP Compac DC5100 ?
Or would you please recommnd me that how could I play heavy games in my HP DC 5100!Hi,W7 Professional 32-bit160Gb hard drive, 2.25Gb RAM Long story but was given this HP computer by a friend when a custom built Intel i5 over-clocked computer ceased to function. On receiving the i5 item I realised I could not hook it up to my existing screens and so my local computer shop sold me the above graphics card. i5 computer has now gone back to manufacturer leaving me with a graphics card that does not seem to fit in the HP motherboard despite its LP bracket. I am no computer expert but when I opened the HP case to offer up the graphics card it appears to have incompatible "contact surfaces" (don't know proper name); can anyone confirm that this is true?I don't want to force it or fit LP bracket etc if the card will not work with the HP computer.ThanksAndrew

Having trouble with my G4 MDD 867MHz DP and ATi Radeon 9800 Pro video card.
I just recently purchased the ATi Radeon 9800 Pro Mac edition card on ebay. I installed the card on my G4 and turned it on thinking everything would work with no problems, but when I turned it on the grey apple screen came up fine and then it changed to a sky-blue screen with nothing on it and remained on that screen. My desktop or any of my apps did not load up at all. I reset the PRAM and the NVRAM as the seller I bought the card from instructed me to and still I get the same result. Is anyone familiar with this problem? I was wondering if my monitor was the problem because I'm using a Dell LCD monitor as the display for right now? I need help! I'm trying to get this up and running so I can start editing. Whatever information anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated!
Sometimes display cards that support multiple displays (or a second display card in the same Mac) can cause the display you are using to be the SECOND display in a multiple-display "extended desktop".
When this happens, the MenuBar and cursor may be drawn perfectly, but be on the "other" screen, and it is very difficult to determine what has happened. \[This problem is sometimes caused by inadvertently leaving an adapter or cable on an unused display port.]
Try moving the mouse many times to the right to see if the cursor suddenly transitions onto your screen, then try the same experiment to the left. -
Mac Edition G5 PCIe ATI Radeon X1900GT 256MB Video Card power cord
I have a G5 2.5 quad, serial number YM5*2EQPS. It has a ATI Radeon 9800 XT on board now. I have two monitors connected.
I want to add a Cintiq graphics tablet, so I need additional video (it is also a monitor). I purchased the Mac Edition G5 PCIe ATI Radeon X1900GT for this purpose.
I can't find a place to plug in the auxiliary power supply. I see several plugs (including a couple centered over the memory slots), but all are filled and none appear to be the six-pin type.
Perhaps I purchased the wrong card for this machine? Or maybe I'm just too stupid to open the back of my computer? Help!
<Edited by Host>HI-
I am confused by your statements saying that you have a G5 Quad (Late 2005, right?) and that you have a Radeon9800 XT installed.
The 9800 XT is an AGP card and won't work in a Quad...
Putting that aside, the Radeon X1900 G5 Edition connects to the G5 logic board at a connector that is centered on the upper edge of the logic board over the memory slots. -

In search of drivers for ATI Radeon 7000
I recently purchased a used ATI Radeon 7000 PCI video card for my G3 beige, OS 9.2.2. This is an older model card with just the single VGA output. This comes up as card name "ATI, Bluestar", and card model "ATI, RV100" under Apple System Profiler so I'm a bit confused about that to start with. However, since ASP recognizes it I guess it seems to work though I haven't plugged my monitor into it yet.
The problem is the drivers.
I went to ATI's website to look for drivers to download to get this card working. They have an OS9 updater (ati-retail-9-2-2-jan2005.hqx) that should install a bunch of components. When I run it it only installs a partial set, contrary to what it says it should do. I've seen other postings on Apple Discussions about problems with this installer. ATI seems to make it impossible to contact them other than by telephone which is only open to original purchasers so I can't even tell them there's a problem (much less expect them to do anything about it). A search for Bluestar or RV100 reveals nothing on ATI's website.
Has anybody gotten this installer to work? Is there some other source for drivers for this card? Can somebody e-mail them to me (I don't think this violates any rules since in theory they are openly down-loadable)?
Thanks,
Brian
G3 beiges:DT, 9.2.2, 120GBide; DT, 9.2.2/OS X.3, 120GBide; MT, 8.6/9.2.2, 128MB,Thanks to all for answering my questions. I decided in the end to just plug my monitor into the card and give it a try despite not haveing the groundwork properly set up. It works so it must be a Mac version of the card. This website (http://www.welovemacs.com/radeon7000vga.html) describes the card, including the model number (but I paid a LOT, LOT less than their price!).
Yes, the installer does put all kinds of things in the System, but not the promised control panel. It looks like the CP isn't essential to the working of the card so I'm not worrying anymore. I used the Apple monitors control panel to set the resolution a few times but it froze up on me once when setting it to 640x480. After that I pulled a copy of Super Res that I had in storage and have been using that.
As to the graphics acceleration, it's kind of hard to tell. I tried viewing a mp4 video clip I have with Quicktime 6. Before the card I could maybe watch a minute before my computer would freeze up. Now I can watch maybe 3 minutes before it freezes up, but the video is very jerky, even when compared to the one minute before card installation. I may now be experiencing the limitations of my 266 MHz G3 in terms of decoding mp4, but this doesn't explain why video seemed smoother before, brief though it was before a freeze.
I then tried a video game. Actually video wasn't too slow with this even with my old configuration. Now things seem to hesitate when the play gets busy and it remids me of when I used to play Crystal Quest on a Mac SE. In this case the card has made things slower.
With general scrolling I don't really notice a difference. There's still hesitation at times. In all the cases I have mentioned the ATI thing in the menu bar says grahics acceleration is on.
So in actuality I haven't really noticed any improvement with this card. If anybody has any tips on ways to tune the system to take more advantage of the card I'd welcome them.
Thanks,
Brian
