Drivers for IBM Thinkpad T40 2373-82U?

Had to recover to factory contents. Wireless not working & Ethernet not working so I thought that needed to get drivers, but have been unsuccessful. Cant even get to Device Manager, any advice?

Ethernet driver:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62922 After downloading it, you must go into C>Drivers>Win>Ethernet and run the setup file from there. Wireless driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-59438 C>Drivers>Win>Wlanint Hope this helps.

  • Windows 7/Vista Drivers for IBM thinkpad X40

I had just upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 because of a operating system malfunction. When I first logged in I found out that my sound wouldn't work. I knew that a new part of windows 7 is that drivers come from windows update. I got updates for drivers, but not for sound. I went to device manager and try to check my sound device, and found that my sound device has dissappearred. Do I need drivers to solve the problem, or this is problem that can't be fixed. If I can fix it with a driver, can I get the windows vista driver for sound.
P.S I already went to the website for the driver http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-54078.html
It said the driver for vista is already on the operating system, and that does not work for me!!

If you are still using windows 7,try using the inbuilt troubleshooting system.

  • I can't reinstall Windows Xp pro SP3 from installation disk on my IBM Thinkpad T40

    Dear folk,
I have bought used IBM Thinkpad t40 in Germany.
It has Windows XP in German, wich works well but it makes some dificulties while I am using some functions.
I decided to reinstall Windows XP Pro in English.
My Windows XP Pro CD instructed me to install XP from BIOS.
    This is how it works.
I got to BIOS by clicking blue button "IBM acsess".
I have got to BIOS released in 15/05/2003.
My Win XP Pro CD instructed me to press Delete to boot Cd-Rom and run Win XP installator.
Meanwhile, pressing "Delete" button did not produce any effect.
I got to Start up menu in BIOS, then I tried to run CD-Rom to run Windows XP from my installation CD.
But it has not produce any effect.
    System stayed still.
As result, I can not install Windows XP English version.
Please, hint me how can I reistall Windows XP English on my notebook.
May be something with old BIOS version and I has to update it?
Should I use other menu in BIOS for installation (actually I used all of them)?
    Or anything else? Please, advice.
Or I has to learn German? )))
    Looking forward for any help.
    Cheers
    Vittor

    Hi and welcome..
leave short your german XP on your T40 ... you need it to update BIOS..
first i prefer to update your BIOS ... Download this T40 BIOS
    Version: 1RETDRWW (3.23) Release Date: 2007/07/03
you see this is abit newer ... follow the instructions to update...if update is successfull...you can go in BIOS
look at tab startup ... change startup sequence so that DVD/CD Drive is on first place and usb-device on second and HDD on third you can move this via F5 / F6.. exit and save with F10 ...
Download all drivers that you need from this page and save them on extra USB Stick or external HDD...you will need this to complete your install after XP is fresh installed
    T40 Driver Table
Insert your English XP with SP3 in DVD/CD Drive and restart...
if a message comes press space to install from CD ...
follow the instructions.. delete (format drive C: where the german XP is ... and install XP in english..
when installation process is done... look at device manager you see many yellow questionmarks ..no installed drivers... Now use the pre-downloaded drivers from external HDD/USB Device... keep in mind that drivers are compressed when clicking on that the driver first deflates to c:\drivers\win\ [foldername]... sometimes you have to go in the correct folder and start setup to install it for real...
or you can install TVSU ThinkVantageSystemUpdater:
    TVSU
that helps you .. but in that case you have to install Wireless or Cable Network first...
i dont prefer this because at this time you dont have a antivirus program ..
a small and good advice is AntiVir you can freewareversion download here
    Free Antivir English
So good luck ...with fresh "english XP" on your T40...
    sincerely KalvinKlein

  • IBM ThinkPad T40 - Will not start up - Please HELP!

    Hi!
So, I have an IBM ThinkPad T40, and  for some reason it will not turn on, The Power Indicator is lit up, as is the battery indicator acknowledging that my computer is plugged in. It worked earlier today when I was at the public library (around 5pm-8pm) but now at 12am when I am attempting to turn it on, it looks as if it's turning on, but nothing happens. I can feel the hum of the mother board, as if it is booting up. Yet, the screen remains blank.
Does anyone know what I can do? I'm unemployed at the moment and use the computer to do art commissions for people, so it and Unemployment benefits are my only source of income. I can't really afford technical support. The computer was a gift from my mother, and  I'd really like it to continue working!
If you have a resolution please either reply, or contact me at [e-mail removed]
    Thank you,

The first thing I'd do is connect an external monitor to see if that works. (Remember to use Fn-F7 to toggle monitor modes.) If an external monitor works then you've got an LCD-related problem, probably a defective inverter card or CCFL backlight.

  • WinXP 64 Bit Drivers for T61 Thinkpad (7661-G28)

I installed Vista64 on an additional drive and was constantly running into application crashes as well as what apppears to be system pauses when a window was in focus.   Things just froze and if you brought up task manager they would start responding again.  I installed windows Vista Ultimate (SP1) for this. I was trying to take advantage of all my memory in the system 4GB brecause I am trying to setup a demo disk with Virtual Workstation so I need the memory for the virtual environment.
Anyway I gave up (after learning about how to remove the new Vista boot loader on a dual boot machine) and decided to go back to 64 bit XP to get a stable system.  The problem with this is of course the lack of driver support for 64 bit XP on thinkpads.  I have read  most of the posts in the forum on 64 bit options for XP and I have tried all of the suggestions for them.  I still do not have but one drivers active.  I was able to get the Ethernet driver working but still can not load the wireless (4965AG), audio(SoundMax Digital HD AUdio), SM Driver, or video (Intel 965 Chipset) drivers.  Has anyone had any luck with a model T61 and 64 bit drivers for Windows XP(64)?
    Any help is appreciated.

i've never tried before but my personal opinion, it won't work.

  • IBM Thinkpad T40 volume applet???

I have bought an old Thinkpad T40 recently and managed to install Arch and XFCE4 successfully.
Now I'm trying to get everything working.
My question is about volume applet (or maybe it has an other name?).
Initially I ran Ubuntu live CD on it and noticed nice window popping up (at the bottom of screen), when I pressed the volume buttons on keyboard.
Can I get something similar in Arch (XFCE4)?
Volume buttons work - they just visually don't change anything.
    Thanks in advance,
    Zig

    Thank you!
    Tpb does the trick.
But I still have one question.
There is a Archwiki entry Thinkpad OSD which says:
    ~/.kde/Autostart/tpb-startup.sh:
    # Start Thinkpad OSD daemon
    if [ -x /usr/bin/tpb ] && [ -w /dev/nvram ] && [ -r /dev/nvram ]; then
    /usr/bin/tpb -d
    fi
I'm Gnome user and can start /usr/bin/tpb -d from console, but it seems doesn't work when I add it to auto started applications.
What could be wrong in this case?
    Thanks,
    Zig

  • Are Graphics Drivers for the Thinkpad Edge E520 going to be brought up to date?

The Lenovo supplied drivers for the Radeon 6630M installed in the E520 haven't been updated since early 2012. Meanwhile ATI released v14 of the drivers just a few months ago (mid 2014). The E520 is now 5 versions behind with it's drivers, and the ATI supplied driver is incompatible.
Does Lenovo have any intention of releasing a compatible version of the latest drivers for the 6630M or are we supposed to muddle along without further support for this piece of hardware?

There are other problems with the old drivers.I can upgrade IE10 to IE11 due incompatibily with this hybrid graphics driver.
I can't update the lastest IE10 security updates for July 2014 due to incompatibily with this hybrid graphics driver.
I'm sure upgraing to IE12 will fail as well.
In January 2016 Microsoft will stop support for IE10 on Windows 7.:

  • Where exactly do I find drivers for my ThinkPad Yoga?

I'm trying to find the exact driver download page for my device. According to the label on the bottom, my device has the type 20C0-S0AX00. Searching for this on the driver download page does not find that model - but I'm pretty sure that my device really exists :-)
Where can I find the drivers?

Can anyone help me in getting this back or where I can install this FN onscreen display driver/software..Explain me in details where can I get it..

You would have to install the Hotkey utility.

  • All kinds of problems with Thinkpad T40 2373-7CU...please help!

A friend of mine recently had me purchase a refurbished computer through my work.  The computer came with no operating system on it...but that wasn't an issue as we have a disk for Windows XP.  We installed it, no issues (at least I don't think so).  We cannot get the computer to recognize the modem...so we can't get it online to download the drivers.  I've tried burning them to a CD and then putting them on the new computer...but it seems to not be working?  It also won't play CD's or DVD's...although under normal circumstances, it should.
I know next to nothing about computers...can anyone give me some pointers on what I can do to get this thing on the internet at the very least?  I have Comcast DSL internet...if that makes a difference...so I am NOT trying to get on wirelessly.
Thank you in advance for any advice!
    Kristy

load all the drivers onto an usb memory key and install them from there. After you unpack the drivers, go into my computers, c: drive, swtools, drivers.

  • Display driver for IBM Thinkpad T60 on Windows 7

    Hi,
I've just installed windows 7 on my T60. It seems that the display driver (Intel GMA 950) is not behaving the way it used to behave in windows XP. I tried to install everything I could find on the support web site. They say that the support for display driver for T60 has been dropped for Windows Vista onwards. Is there any fix for this problem?
    Any help is appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Harsh

The Win 7 is still in beta version, there is still no official support for it.... I don't think Intel will drop support for the GMA 950 GPU, as this way a lot of relatively new laptop will still be useless.
