Drivers for NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M on my Macbook?

I have been trying to get an answer to my  question re: drivers for my NVDIA card. I have searched the community ( apologies if I overlooked something), but it seems there is no answer. I am not dualbooting my 2013 MacBook ( chipset NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M). I get the error that my card needs updating.
I contacted NVIDIA and their response was as follows:
“We do not have any driver listed for Mac OS for this chipset, you will have to contact Apple and check with them.
The laptop graphic cards are not manufactured by NVIDIA, they are customized, designed and manufactured by the laptop manufactures. Also, for laptops, the primary source of driver update is the driver from the laptop manufacturer”.
Apple, if you haunt these boards,  – can you weigh in on this? Thanks in advance to anyone else who can shed some light on this.

betababe,
what is giving you the error that your card’s driver needs to be updated?

I'm currently on Windows 7. Everything works fine, but when I look at my hardware info, my Nvidia cards aren't there. I went ot their site, downloaded the 9M series driver pack, but I get an error saying there are no cards of that type on my laptop.

  • Update drivers for NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M

Need the updated drivers for NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M that comes with my Vaio Z  VPCZ128GX , the drivers in eSupport are from 2010, and nVidia software does not detect the 330M card
    VPCZ125GX

I've updated my VPCZ1 to 340.43 drivers but it still won't accept the transition to Windows 10, seems like they just want to find any excuse to back out of their promise of a free upgrade for windows 7 users. For anyone who is editing .inf files and still not able to get it to work, you need to update your intel drivers first. The process is a bit awkward, I tried to update the Geforce with a few pre-modded drivers, using the device manager. It would always freeze during installation or ask to reboot and start in 800x600 resolution. I also tried the latest intel drivers but was unable to update them at the time, so I gave up on the idea for a while. Later, I ran into trouble running GTAV, the game would start fine but suddenly crash to desktop while loading. I remembered how the latest driver broke the intel driver, so I rebooted with the laptop in "stamina", installed the latest compatible onboard graphics driver and rebooted in "speed" mode, which incapacitated the 2010 nvidia driver so I had a new "unknown device" under "display adapters" in the device manager. I pointed it to the 340.43 drivers (latest driver I could find for 330m which still uses inf files) which I modified earlier and success, GTAV now runs. Editing inf files is surprisingly simple, just find mention of "330m" in one of the inf files (which are lists of subsys numbers) and replace the subsys number with the one from your card in device manager when using the 2010 drivers. (there are alraedy a lot of them in the inf, I guess it's true that no two 330m are the same) I've always left it on "speed", ever since it booted with the new drivers, The GPU is easily underclockable using Precision X for more battery life. http://i59.tinypic.com/swd3lx.jpg Only side effect I know so far is that the screen rotation doesn't work, although I never tried it with the old driver combo.

  • Drivers for NVIDIA Geforce 320m (Windows 7).

I've got my new MBP 13", but i don't have a cd with the bootcamp drivers for the video card, because I've lost my recovery DVD. So i'm seeking help with that. I wonder where can i get these drivers, because NVIDIA ones, even beta, not supporting this chip yet. Maybe i can get a recovery dvd iso or dmg somehow. I've got bootcamp 3.0 and 3.1 update installed on my windows machine, but still no luck, because the 3.1 version is dated mid january and my MBP is mid 2010.

Somewhat related, my 13" MacBook Pro with BootCamped XP freezes when I open up BootCamp from the control panel and move the brightness slider/window around. To fix this, I'm trying to install the newest NVidia drivers.
With a NVIDIA GeForce 320M display card installed, trying to install the newest NVidia drivers on XP, I continuously get an error say "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
One way to solve this, as suggested by someone on another forum, was to install the drivers manually, and at the 99%~100% during installation, when it shows the error message "Your installation cannot continue, will revert back to your old display drivers when you click OK" at which point I don't press OK, but immediately hold the power button down for 5 seconds, after I re-boot, my new drivers work fine.
    Except,
I can't control brightness from the control panel's bootcamp slider, nor keyboard shortcuts, it's continuously 100% brightness.
I've been working on this problem for 2 days, and I can't yet properly install the new NVidia drivers into XP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Anybody found Vista x64 drivers for nVidia GeForce 8600M GT (Macbook Pro)?

These guys at Apple are launching 64-bit Leopard and I still cannot find 64-bit graphics drivers for my laptop under Vista. It makes me sick. Their Boot Camp 1.4 vesion contains only 32-bit drivers.
It's the laptop manufacturer (Apple company) who are responsible for providing me with drivers, not the graphics card manufacturer (nVidia).
I have been waiting for 5 months already and will wait for another 1-2 months and if the drivers don't appear I'm going to sell the laptop because I simply cannot watch DVDs, I cannot play games without properly installed grahics card.
If you have the drivers, please let me know.
    Best regards.

first of all, I think apple will never really "support" windows 64bit...
    anyway

my vista 32bit works with the drivers from this page.
but u need to read the "Quickstart Guide" before you try installing the drivers

  • Updating drivers for Nvidia Geforce GTX 460m in Qosmio X505-Q896

I have been trying to update the GTX 460m driver from ver. 259.12 to the newest version 260.99. This newer driver is needed to make an older video game(Final Fantasy 11) playable. It has been available on Nvidia's site for some time now but is still not available on Toshiba's site for some reason. Simply downloading from the Nvidia website and running the file gets me this message "The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". It got me scratching my head because this model laptop has that specific graphics card.
I called Toshiba support and they told me that because the kind of GTX 460m in this computer is specifically made for Toshiba the driver update is not supported. That doesn't make any sense to me.  Why wouldn't a driver specifically made for the Nvidia Geforce GTX 460m not be compatible with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 460m?
This was in the notes on the driver download page from Nvidia. "Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release." Could this be the problem? I have no idea if this laptop has Hybrid power or intel chipsets. It also downloaded the file into international instead of the english folder. I am at my wits end. I just want to play a game.
Is there a way around this ?
I put another post similiar to this one in the driver forum but didn't really get any help. I am hoping for a little more exposure and that's why this is in the general forums.

    ShawnWiseman,
This is a known issue with Nvidia GPUs - not just the Qosmio.
    Go here:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/display-driver-stopped-respondin...
I have a Qosmio X505-Q870 and can tell you that the stuff discussed at the link I provided did NOT resolve my issue.
It will, however, give you some background and leave you with the conclusion that 'you are not alone' with the problem.
I have seen posts around the web that suggest re-applying thermal paste to the CPU and GPU along with cleaning the cooling fans will resolve this issue.
I have also seen posts stating that the GPU will have to be replaced . . .
    Take your pick!
    I believe it IS heat-related . . .
What I did was remove the bottom covers from my machine and sit it on top of a Coolermaster NotePal X3 laptop cooler and it resolved the issue . . .
    Good Luck!

  • How to install drivers for nvidia geforce 6800gt for AGP

I might be completely blind, but I have no idea as to how to install the necessary drivers I need for my new (used) graphics card. My card is not displaying properly (doing all this in safe mode) and I'm pretty sure I need the drivers. Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

So sorry for wasting anybody's time. Steve, you're right, the drivers were already there. I missed a very, very small detail on the card and the instructions. There were 2 minuscule pieces of tape that needed to be pulled off from the card (I guess they were left on in case the buyer had a g4. But with a g5, and 8x agp, those two little pieces of tape needed to be pulled off. After I pulled them off and re-installed the card, everything started up immediately and display works! Sorry again, but thanks for the quick response.

  • CUDA drivers for Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M

Hi, may I know if my current display card supports CUDA driver and if not would it be possible to download the driver and install it manually from Nvidia's website without conplicating the system?
    My iMac specs:
    3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Nvidia GeForece GTX 780M 4096MB
    1TB Fusion Drive
    Thanks!
    Best Regards,
    Marc

Yes, your iMac does support CUDA. The other responder is incorrect in this situation. I have the same model and installed the CUDA driver with Preference Pane from NVIDIA.  I have the Neat Video Denoiser plugin for FCPX and it states that it will be faster and more efficient if the GPU parallel processing is enabled with the NVIDIA CUDA driver for Mac.  It works like a charm and is only utilized by apps that can use it.  Regarding the other respondent, yes, generally you want to install things from the Mac App Store, but that does not mean there are cases where you need or wish to install special apps, preference panes, etc that are not part of OS X or available in the App Store. The CUDA driver is one of them.  It's entirely safe to install and will significantly boost your performance in apps that support parallel GPU computation.

  • Best preference settings for MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 with 2.7 Ghz Core i7 processor 16GB memory Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1024MB processor

    (using latest AE CC2014)
I have a MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 with 2.7 Ghz Core i7 processor 16GB memory Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1024MB processor, doing some heavy AE renderings and just realized that this machine says it has 8 Cores? I'm had not yet turned on Multprocessing in Preferences Should I be?
Should I leave 1 or 2 cores for other applications?
RAM allocation per background CPU is defaulted set to 3GB
Also for Adobe Media Encoder: in preferences under Video Rendering /Rendere it is set at Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) is that the best config for this computer?

    How much ram?
The best settings depend on what you are working on. Here are mine for a nearly identical system:
It's usually best to keep memory blocks in 4GB blocks. If my workflow is more in other apps I'll switch out other apps to 8 gb if things start to slow down. Because of my usual project settings I keep MP turned off on this machine, but for some projects I'll turn it on. If you decide to experiment to MP then keep an eye on the Actual CPU's that will be used and make sure the numbers add up. Other applications and Actual Cores should add up the the total in your system.

  • Why does my macbook pro non-retina cannot detect NVIDIA GeFORCE GT 650M? It can only detect my Intel HD

I bought a macbook pro non-retina with NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, but it doesn't appear on the system profiler "About This Mac". It only shows the Intel HD Graphics 4000. How will I make NVIDIA work?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your MacBook Pro switches automatically between both GPUs, and for normal use, you will see only the Intel HD Graphics 4000. When you use heavy applications, it will switch automatically to the NVIDIA GPU, so you don't have to worry about it.
If you want to check that your NVIDIA GPU is working, open System Preferences > Energy Saver, and disable the graphic card switching, so your Mac will use the NVIDIA GPU. Then, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and you will see the NVIDIA GPU. Note that this GPU consumes more battery

  • Need driver for Nvidia Geforce Go 6150 for Windows 7

Hi, can anyone please tell me where I can download the driver for Nvidia Geforce Go 6150 for Windows 7. I have tried the drivers for Windows Vista but it does not work. Thanks in advance.

I followed this tutorial after installing Win7 on a friend's HP Pavilion tx1332LA (the tutorial is in Spanish):
    http://www.taringa.net/posts/ebooks-tutoriales/2570715/NVIDIA-nForce-Chipset-Driver-(windows-7-_-vista).html
And since the coprocessor was no longer listed as an unknown device (or something similar), I assumed everything worked correctly afterwards... is that alright or do I have to check in some other way?
Well, here is a part of what the tutorial says (what was enough for me):
-Should work for 32-bits and 64-bits versions (I installed it on Windows 7 x64).
-First of all, we see that in the Device Administrator, there is an unknown device, a coprocessor. That's because Windows 7 can't find its driver.
    -Download and install the following:
    NVIDIA nForce Chipset Driver
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39501-40000/sp39535.exe
and see if the coprocessor is recognized.
-If not, go to the Device Administrator and find the unrecognized coprocessor.
-Right-click on it and select Update driver...
-Select browse my computer -> let me pick -> have disk (this is what the tutorial says, it wasn't exactly the same for me, but I eventually got to pick a folder on my hard drive)
-Browse and select the following (assuming C represents the drive where everything from the file above got unpacked):
    C:\swsetup\SP39535\WinVista32\SMU\smuc.inf (for 32-bits version)
    C:\swsetup\SP39535\WinVista64\SMU\smuc64.inf (for 64-bits version)
Note: That is what the tutorial says, but I could only select the SMU folder and not a specific file. After selecting the SMU folder, a driver was automatically listed, I selected it and it got installed.
-Now, the coprocessor should be recognized (check the Device Manager).
    Hope it helps!

Hi, what is the normal temperature for NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT when on notebook I use only word, or some programs, no play games.

Quote from: Mike on 01-February-10, 11:02:34
normal depends on the environment, the ambient temperature.  Is it hot where you use it?  Do you use it on a hard surface or place it directly on your lap or some cloth type surface.  There are quite a number of variables.  What temperatures are you noticing?
if I work with word or use internet the temperature is about 55*C

The 15" Retina's will have better performance than any 13" Retina. Not only do the 15" machines have dedicated GPU's, but they also have quad-core processors, whereas the 13" Retina's only have dual-core processors.
