  • LAN driver for Satellite Pro L20 Windows 2000

I am looking for a LAN (ethernet) drive for my Satellite Pro L20, which has Windows 2000 on it.
I have found one for the WiFi, but not for the Ethernet (cable/CAT) connection.

    Hi
Well, you cant find any LAN drivers for Win2000 on the Toshiba page because this unit was delivered and tested only with Windows Xp OS.
Nevertheless I found the information that this unit has a Realtek 8100CL LAN card.
In this case I assume to visit the Realtek website. There you will find a compatible driver for this LAN card.

  • Vista x64 drivers needed for Satellite U200

    Hello,
has anyone installed Vista x64 on the satellite U200? I want to change now to 64 bit, will upgrade to 4 GB memory as well.
Has anyone experience with the drivers that work? For chipset, wireless and graphics there is no problem. For the fingerprint I have as well. But how is it with the Value Added Package? Is this compatible with x64 and the Flashcards as well? Someone tried to install??
    Thanks for answers!
    snipe

Hello again! I changed to Vista x64 now - and what shall I say!!! WOW! It is two times faster then the old x86! Cannot believe it!
And I got nearly everything working, except the toshiba value added package - so I do not have the flashcards and the wireless changer - but I can wait - hope they fix this. Everything else works:
    -fingerprint
    -graphicscard
    -wireless
    -lan
    -logitech mouse
-bluetooth (even switched to windows stack now for compatiblity reasons with logitech and nokia suite)
    -toshiba assist works
-touchpad works, with scroll and so on
yeah thats it so far - and I am happy - did not expect so much! Try it yourself!

  • Satellite Pro L20 doesn't work properly with USB Fast Track audio i.f.

    Hello!
I have used my Fast Track USB on new Toshiba Satellite L40 and I never had problems with it. I could set low latency and I did few songs with it.
Yesterday I bought another notebook, thinking of home recording studio. It's used Toshiba Satellite Pro L20. It doesn't work properly with my interface. When I listen music on Winamp or do anything on Fruity Loops I hear loud clicks, pops, noises. They introduce samples, or they appear during playback or after a sample is stopped.
I noticed, drivers for Satellite Pro L20 are a problem. Its not supported by Toshiba anymore?! The only drivers for chipset are very old and you can download em only from Toshiba website. The chipset is ATI Xpress 200M. Its drivers are with graphic card. Recently I noticed you can download "ATI Catalyst Legacy Display Driver for Windows XP - Motherboard/IGP Drivers 9.11" and CRACK IT to make it possible to install on mobile unit such as L20. Yep its funny but its impossible to do otherwise!
things I have tried and they still not help:
    # drivers replacement, original were released in 2004. I installed recent version.
    # driver settings, low latency, high latency
    # asio and different settings
    # pluging the interface to another usb socket.
    # trying what happens when I use battery and when I use adapter
    # updated bios
    # turned off onboard units such as wifi card, sound card
    # checked IRQ list
    pops still appear.
    my config:
    Toshiba Satellite Pro L20
    Win XP Home SP3
    Celeron M 1,5GHz
    896Mb ram
M-Audio Fast Track USB, drivers: 6.0.2
    Kind regards

Thanks for answer. I still have L40 but I try to run my homerecording on L20. The L40 is now used by whole my family. It's possible to swap them but there's a problem - L20 has Norway keyboard and I'm the only person at home who doesn't often look down while typing. In Poland, we use standard ms keyboard. I'd buy special stickers, it's about only to make special chars get back to their places.
I installed Windows on this computer end set it to best performance possible.
Since I created this thread, guys from M-Audio support tried to solve my problem - nothing helped. I think potential solutions are exhausted.

  • Need repair manual for CD-rom upgrade on Satellite Pro L20

    Hi
Is there anywhere I can download a repair manual for the Satellite Pro L20 as I've just purchased a dvdrw drive & want to fit it myself
    TIA

    Hi
Unfortunately, you will not find any repair manuals on the Toshiba website. Only the Toshiba service partners have such documents and have possibility to use notebook manuals.
As far as I know the drive is secured with a screw which is placed at the bottom of the unit and under the keyboard.
After removing of these two screws you can disconnect an optical drive from the connector on the system board.
But without any experience you should remove any drives. I think you should ask the Toshiba service to help you because he has more experience in such cases

  • Need to reinstall windows but don't have any CD - Satellite Pro L20

Hi, I wanted to reinstall Windows XP home onto my Satellite Pro L20, but don't have any of the software my laptop came with (read lost the disks). I have a valid XP home key (as its stuck on the bottom of my laptop) but no disc so I tired using a copy of a Windows XP home cd, which didn't work, but did let me get as far as formatting the hard drive.
So right now I'm using Ubuntu, but want to reinstall Windows. Have valid product key but no software to reinstall.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Christopher

    Are you kidding now?
Do you understand English or what?
I will try to be clear enough and constructive too in hope you will understand your situation.
    Some facts for you:
    - Recovery image *CANNOT* be downloaded
    - Following link http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com >Support & Downloads you can find all drivers, tools and utilities for your notebook model
    So back to your situation:
For clean OS installation you have *_two_* options only:
    - if possible order new copy by Toshiba authorized service provider in your country *do you have more questions about that?*
    - you can install operating system using Microsoft installations CD *if you don't have it, it is your problem*
Can you please tell me if all this is clear now?
If you have more questions please ask.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - need to re-install

    Hiya,
I have a customer who has several Toshiba Laptops but the one that I have a problem with is the L20 which is the latest Tosh that they have. Anyway, the End User had a stggering 4958 viral infections on his machine and the machine was just not happy. These were disinfected by way of an external SATA caddy.
All the windows files had been infected so rather than deal with a machine that I do not know what it will do in the future, I've backed everything up to another drive and formatted the HDD.
I tried using a copy of Windows XP to re-install the laptop, which went well until it required a re-boot to complete the installation and then there was just a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner. The Customers mother has provided me with a recovery disk for a Sat Pro L10 which appears to have worked well - at least until I re-booted.
At this point I obtain the imfamous BSOD stating that there is a problem with the disk controller. Windows has been stopped to prevent any furtherdamage etc etc.
Any ideas of how I can get around this problem - obviously I have requested the Recovery CD from the EU and her son but they cant find it since they moved.
    My options:-
    1. Obtain a copy of the recovery CD for this model
    2. Get the correct drivers onto the HDD and then write a simple batch file to change the registry from autoexec.bat
Any other ideas would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks
    Tim.

    Hi
You get the BSOD because you have tried to reinstall the OS from the Sat Pro L10 Recovery CD. This CD doesnt work on the Pro L20!!!
You have to use the recover CD only designed for this notebook!
Usually the simple installation from the Win XP CD should works.
Did you use the XP with SP2? Please do this!
After the OS installation you will find all drivers on the Toshiba driver page.
If the OS installation from original Win XP will not work then you could order the Recovery CD for the Pro L20.

  • Satellite Pro L20: Need Power Saver Utility

Please can you let me know where I can download the Power Saver utility for a Satellite Pro L20?
I have tried to install a copy of the software but am not sure if it is for an L20 as it crashes
at the end of the install, and when I try to open Toshiba Power Saver in the control panel it says
it is not running, but there is no option for in the Power Schemes list.
    Many Thanks
    Martin Dawkins

Does the L20 only use the standard Windows XP 'Power Options' for power management then?
I wonder why they did not install their own power management software as well as that
normally has more options for extending battery life.

  • Satellite Pro L20-212 - USB2.0 does not work

    Hi,
I own a *Satellite Pro L20-212*, *Windows XP (SP2) is installed, but USB2.0 does not work*. I can't see anything about USB2.0 in the Devicemanager and the speed of the attached USB2.0 devices is at the USB1.1 level.
I don't know which information is needed to help me out with this problem because it should normally work on my notebook (and I know that the notebook has USB2.0 ports).
Do I have to install a special driver in order to use USB2.0 or is there any software on my notebook which I have to enable?
    Thank you very much,
    Frank

    Hi
+Fact is that the notebooks hardware is ok and it seems that you only need to install some MS updates and maybe a chipset driver.+
    True.
+But lets begin with the basics? as I??m not mistaken; the Satellite Pro L20 belongs to the PSL2YE. Therefore you have to choose this series number if you download the drivers.+
    That's what I did.
+On the Toshiba European driver page you will find the Intel Chip Set Utility. Please install it firstly. Do you have an ATI card? If yes install the graphic driver from the Toshiba page because this driver contains the chipset driver for the units with ATI graphic card!!!+
I have an ATI card and I installed the driver from the Toshiba page which includes the chipset driver. That's the first driver I installed on my notebook.
+Secondly you will find the Quick Fix Engineering on the Toshiba page. These are the MS updates which must be installed!!!+
Every single update of Microsoft for Windows XP is installed, so this shouldn't be the problem
+Then the USB ports should be correctly recognized in the device manager and should work.+
USB is recognized, but not as USB 2.0 :-(
+By the way; you should test the USB ports with different external USB devices to ensure that it??s not a USB device malfunction?+
I did that, too. And I used the same decives on Ubuntu to test the USB 2.0 function. And everything worked perfectly.
That's tricky. I don't have the slightest idea what I can do now. The hardware works, the drivers are correct, but it still doesn't work. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
But thank you very much Gipsyman!

  • Wireless network adaptor installation on Satellite Pro L20

    Hi there,
I have just bought a Satellite Pro L20 but it had been rebooted before I received it and the previous owner obviously didnt have the Toshiba drivers disk. Can anyone please give me a link to get the installation file for the wireless network adaptor card. I have been into device manager - network adaptors and the wireless adaptor isnt listed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello
All stuff you need you can find on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Support Homepage > Download drivers.
There you can find WLAN drivers for Intel and Atheros WLAN card. Before installation check which one you have.

  • Which Recovery CD to use with Satellite Pro L20?

We have several Toshiba laptops in use in our company. I need to restore one (a Satellite Pro L20) to factory settings. However, although I have kept all the recovery CDs, most of them have labels which don't mention which model they are meant to be used on. On some of them I wrote the model number on the label by hand, but I haven't done this for the L20. I know from experience that if I get the wrong recovery CD, I'll have to put the dozens of device drivers and utilities on individually, so finding the right one would save me a lot of time and stress.
Each recovery CD has a part number (e.g. GMR400626EN1), so it should be possible to identify the correct CD from this, but I can find no such info on Toshiba's web site.
Is there a list that matches Recovery CD part numbers to laptop models?

    Hello
Such info is definitely not available on Toshiba support site. What you can try is to contact authorized service partner in your country. They have access to Toshiba data base and I am pretty sure they can help you.
If you need addresses and phone numbers please check https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com Support & Downloads Find an Asp.
    Bye and good luck!

  • What is the fastest CPU I could put in Satellite Pro L20

This is a desperate request for help!!
The Football Manager 2010 is coming out soon and my laptop needs to be up to scratch.
I know I need to upgrade it because Football Manager 2009 nearly killed it!
At the moment I have 1.4ghz Intel Celeron M chip and 704mb of ram.
What is the fastest chip I could put in? I've done a bit of research and found I can only have 2gb of ram
The laptop is in perfect working order so I don't want to buy a new one just for the sake of it and its served me well over the last 4 years - I've dropped it enough times! Just need to speed it up a bit!

Hmm... Do you really want to upgrade the pretty old Satellite Pro L20? I mean new notebooks are not so expensive anymore and I doubt that you will get a strong performance boost with new CPU.
Anyway, in your notebook is only the preinstalled CPU pretested and nobody is able to say what other CPUs will run. But you should look on the specifications for other Satellite Pro L20 notebooks. If another L20 is equipped with faster CPU, it should also work in yours. You can try it but in worst case it will not work.
    Good luck!
