Drives not showing up in LR dialogue boxes.

It's the weirdest thing but I when I'm trying to use the "find missing folder" dialogue box to update the location of a moved folder, none of my drives are there. The dialogue looks like this:
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Does this help http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90946.html ?

Metadata edited in Bridge is not reflected in the Info Dialogue Box, but shows up in Photoshop.

    Dear Ramón,
You are right that not all metadata is shown in the Finder info but in my case the once added in IPTC core do show as expected for most file types (but not CR2 raw). As you now I convert my CR2 to DNG for a long time now I had to look up the original Raw file and create the data for description, location, keywords again. The data you can add and alter yourself in the IPTC Core field. I added a series of screenshots showing different info and to my surprise (another reason to keep to DNG…) the Raw file had very less info and the xmp shows it all in a rather long and obscure way. Yet PSD, DNG and File info in PS show the same.
Could not recreate the Bridge metadata workspace from the OP because mine (Bridge CC) does not have the description field as an option anymore for some obscure reason. Also checked this in my CS6 version with same result, making the metadata workspace unusable but that was it already for a long time.
Still leaves us with the problem the OP showed, having all info in most files, as in Finder info, but not in Bridge. So could the OP respond to the purge cache for selection option in post 4?
Here are (a bit to many, sorry) my screenshots showing different file info (in Dutch but you will manage with that) and metadata in Bridge:
Finder info for PSD and DNG:
Finder info for CR2 and XMP:
    File info Bridge / PSD:
    And a Bridge Metadata view:

  • My external hard drive not showing up

    Hello,
My external hard drive is not showing up on my desktop. I went to finder & preferences>general and made sure I checked "show these items" and checked hard drives. I even unchecked it because I have 2 other external hard drives. When I checked the hard drive box the other 2 hard drives appeared but the third hard drive did not. The hard drive not showing up on my desk top does show up when I double click my system hard drive & can be opened from there, but I want to see it on my desk top. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

  • Drive Not Showing In Startup Disk

I have re setup my MacBook Pro, all seems well apart from this little problem. My Mac OS X Partition or Windows Partition shows in startup Disk.
Both Operating Systems do startup fine though.
I have my disk partitioned like this
    Free Space
    Windows 7
    Mac OS X
Its setup in this way so i can use TrueCypt for the Windows side.
Does anyone know how to correct this please?

    Thanks

if you try to verify the disk, dose it report any errors? (open disk utility, click on the Macintosh HD, click on the repair tab, click verify disk.)
If you option boot, dose the computer list both Boot Volumes?
Have you tried blessing the mac hard drive?
ie: "sudo bless -folder /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/System/Library/CoreServices -bootinfo"
(note the above bless command blesses the Hard Drive with the name "Macintosh HD", if you mac volume has a different name, change to match your hard drive's name.)

    haha.

Click Start, then click All Programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

  • Why my sent emails are not showing up in the sent box

The emails I'm sending are not showing up in my sent box. Why is this happening?

    - Did they show before?
    - Are you sending from the mail app?
    - Try sending from another account.
    - Try a reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • USB External drive not showing in Finder, or on Desktop

I have two USB external drives from the same manufacturer. One is for regular storage, the second is for Time Machine and movies.
The first one shows everywhere, on the desktop, in finder and in Disk Utility.
The second drive shows in Disk Utility only. However, it is functioning fine with Time Machine. So it is mounted. I have tried several repairs, and it reports no fault found. So it is certainly functioning correctly, but a setting or error in the operating system is not allowing it to be viewed in finder, or on the desktop.
    Any suggestions.

Correction: Title should be Firewire External drive not showing in Finder, or on Desktop.

Only my computer hard drive is and I want to import from an external drive.  I have always been able to until I updated to Aperture 3.6 and Yosemite.
I had the same problem. On the folders on the drive with the Aperture library did show in the Import panel. After I clicked the computer icon in the upper left corner of the Import panel, suddenly all drives appeared.
You can also try to drag the folder you want to import into the Import panel, to point the file chooser to the drive.

  • USB drives not showing on desktop

    Hi there,
Whenever I insert a device into my usb ports (camera, thumb drive, iPod) it no longer shows up on my desktop. Though the device is still recognized by iTunes, iPhoto, and in disk utility. I have also made sure the boxes are checked in the Finder properties.
Any help would be appreciated, I would like to have these items show on the desktop again.

Glenn, we must have four aberrant iPods and several aberrant cameras, then , or four aberrant Macs running Snow Leopard.
Then you have activated "disk use" in iTunes. Otherwise they would not be showing up.
The iPods and at least one of our cameras ( an Olympus with an XD card) all show up on the desktop on all four computers. The SD card in a Panasonic DV camera also appears (I'll have to recheck the Canons when the owners wake up!)
Ahhh. SD cards are another matter and will show up with the correct settings in the Finder Prefs. But simply connecting a camera does not automatically mean it will show up. If on the other hand the user has left an SD card in the camera, then in most cases, if the correct Finder Prefs have been set, then the cad will show up on the desktop - but NOT the camera. Take the card out. The camera will likely not show up even if it has internal memory. Cheers!
    Cheers and Merry Christmas.

  • External Hard Drive/Not Showing Up on Desktop

I have a G4, running OS X 10.2.8 and recently my kids deleted some important data. So--we bought an external hard drive (WD MyBook 160 GB Essential Edition, which says on the box that it runs 10.2.8 and higher).
We took the external hard drive and the computer to a reputable repair place, the guy there took the hard drive out and using a G6 system, restored what he could to the external hard drive.
We bring it home, plug it in, and the computer is not reading the new external hard drive. I did check in disk utility, and it shows up as a greyed out item on the disk utility.
The external hard drive does show up when hooked up to my husband's office PC.
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to correct it?
    Thanks, Ruth

OK, I figured it out (in case anyone else needs to know) with this information from the Western Digital site:
Macintosh Operating System 10.3.x or earlier will only recognize FAT32 partitions that are smaller than 128-gigabytes. Multiple FAT32 partitions smaller than 128-gigabytes will need to be created in order for Macintosh Operating System 10.3.x or earlier to recognize the partitions. You will need to use a Windows based computer to create FAT32 partitions, as Macintosh does not have the ability to create them.
Macintosh Operating System 10.4.x or later can recognize FAT32 partitions over 128-gigabytes.

I have a outlook 2013 and windows 8, network drivers are showing on my computer.
However, when i try to attach file the insert file dialog box does not show the network drive.

  • Hard Drive Not Showing in Terminal

My Mac Pro started running slow even after clearing cookies and deleting unnecessary data including pics, documents, trash and history. So I recently upgraded to Macbook OSX Maverick (version 10.9.3) and uninstalled Mackeeper and all files associated with it according to the instructions here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efnXbn1nC4E. Then I repaired disk permissions. I also tried to repair ACLs according to the instructions here pondini.org/OSX/Password.html. All was going well until I reached the reset password window. I was instructed to select the volume containing the user account but there was nothing at all in the volume box. Macintosh HD is not showing up there. I can still see it and the files in my finder though. Weird. I do not know what to do. Everytime I try to access the web I get the message "connection was reset." The tab reads "problem loading page." After reading I realize that the home file needs permissions reset but is there a way to get the HD to show up in the terminal so I can reset home folder permissions and ACLs? Is there a Sudo command for this? This is too time consuming for me to keep researching this. I need help please. I just want my laptop functioning again. I am so frustrated. Uggghhh!!!

I have also run into the problem of my Mac running slow and learned about the repair utility that can be reached upon rebooting and holding down the cmd key and R then running the terminal and putting in resetpassword which brings up the reset utility and the last instruction is to reset home folder and ACLs.  When I did all this my reset utility was empty not showing my hard drive or any users.  But once I turned off the FileVault both the hard drive and users showed up and was able to do the reset.  For me it took many hours to decrypt the hard drive and it appears that it is going to take twice as long to encrypt it again.

  • USB thumb drives not showing up on desktop.

After updating to 10.4.7 last week, when I insert a USB drive it does not show up on the desktop or in the finder. When I open System profiler and click on USB it shows up there but I have no way to mount the drives.
Is this something that happened to anyone else or am I alone in this?
When I plug in a USB mouse into the ports it works fine so the USB is working, just not mounting the drives. I am able to mount the drives in other macs I have here.
    Dave

You might check your Finder preferences and make sure
you're allowing removeable to appear on the Desktop.
Nope checked that and the boxes are all checked.
Tried plugging my iPod in using the USB cable and still does not show up. Does not even show up in iTunes.
Also tried plugging in a firewire drive and that does not mount either. And the iPod also does not mount using firewire.
    This is really getting frustrating!!!
Weird thing is it shows up under firewire & USB in system profiler.
