DRM from Itunes and Cds
Hi,
I just wanted to compile a CD with my latest Itunes titels for my car. But i wasn´t able to listen to the songs anymore. I hope this aint nothing to do with Apples latest version of Itunes and DRM, or?

Checking and unchecking items to sync to the iPod is tedious.
Using playlists is much easier to manage what goes onto your iPod.
Try creating playlist(s) and syncing only those playlists.
Select the iPod in iTunes. Click the Music tab.
Tick Sync music and Selected playlists.
Tick the playlists you want on the iPod.
Then just Add/Delete from those playlists and plug in the iPod.
The only time I uncheck things is for items I never or rarely want on the iPod such as old audiobooks and Christmas music.
Do this for each iPod and they will have only what you put in the playlists for that iPod.

Hiya, Im thinking of buying my first ipod the Ipod Touch 32gb model. Will I be able to transfer the music I currently have stored in the form of CDs and already on my laptop onto the Ipod and if yes, how would I do this? I have heard from some friends that Apple and Itunes is notoriously limited in the types of formats that are accetable? I dont want to pay £249 on an Ipod only to find that Im locked into buying all my music from Itunes and I cant use the music that Ive already paid good money to buy from other sources. Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. I am having trouble reading some books bought from ITunes and loaded onto my Cocoon ereader which supports Adobe DRM content. Any suggestions?

I have 2 computers, one in the US and one in Canada. My US computer has about 3000 songs from both iTunes and CDs which are synced on my phone. When I sync my iPhone in Canada only the iTunes music is synced to my Canadian computer. How do I get the balance of music synced from the phone?

After installing the latest of iTunes the original files for almost 300 songs cannot be found for syncing to my iPod. The files are songs that were bought from iTunes, and copied into iTunes from CDs.
Apparently, security programs like Macafee and Norton view Itunes updates as new programs and block then from access. If you add Itunes to the list of exemptions, it solves the problem.

I've purchased music from iTunes and CANNOT drag to my iPhone...WHY? I have clicked manage myself and authorised my computer. What is the point of buying music if you cannot transfer from iTunes to an iPhone? I can happily transfer my CDs.????? I have the latest update on my iPhone and iTunes.
Media was moved via external hard disk, and I think I moved the iTunes Media folder after consolidating it.

I purchased a season of a TV show from itunes and it won't go onto my ipad, i've purchased several seasons in the past and never had this issue, how can i fix this?
Drew how is that even possible? I use gift cards all the time, any time I've had insufficient funds iTunes will not allow the purchase, sights Insufficient funds and rejects the purchase. Any time I log into my account the money in that account appears in the upper left corner. If you're not seeing that then you have other issues. Anyway... Kneil is right you should be able to rip CDs you own to your iTunes library (regardless of your money matters with iTunes), then depending on how you set up the music you need to add it to your playlist and then sync it to your iPod. Did imported music ever work? How are you ripping or importing the music to iTunes? Are you using a compatible format?
Something else to look at-- It's possible your cable is defective, have you tried a new or different cable? Some of what your describing is a bad cable issue. Good luck, Cheers. -
CD unmounts from iTunes and Machine after CDDB completion
When I mount a CD (just put it in the CD tray), it will show up in iTunes 7.6, but as soon as the CDDB is finished, it will unmount the CD from iTunes and the machine (will not see it anymore on the Desktop either), but does not eject it physically from the machine. I have to open the CD tray to get it out, but then if I then put it right back in, it stays mounted in iTunes (and imports normally at that time). I've had to do this for the last several CD's I have tried importing (Audio CDs, CDDB does find the information for them). I put the CD in, iTunes will find the CDDB information, unmount the CD, I then put the CD back in and THEN it stays mounted.
Has anyone else seen this before? All perms are repaired, restarted, etc...
Thank you!Well, maybe I should be relieved to find so many threads on this problem, since that means it probably isn't the replacement SuperDrive I recently had put into my MBP (in the last week of its warranty). Same here: every third or fifth CD I insert, the CD shows on the desktop as "Audio CD", then iTunes pops up, consults CDDB, then shows me the name and asks me if I want to import it. Whereupon the CD unmounts -- sometimes before I click Okay, sometimes after -- and nothing further happens. Like a poster on another thread (I picked this one because it was the most recent), I've taken to keeping Disk Utility open while importing CDs, so I can go there and mount the CD -- whereupon iTunes sees it again and asks again if I want to import it, I click Okay and proceed.
Apparently this problem has been widespread at least since iTunes 7.5. Please, everyone who has this problem, send feedback to:

i have bought a film from itunes and the credit has come out of my account, but i can't find the film anywhere, it said it was downloading, then i left the laptop and on return i couldn't find the film. how do i find the film?

That won't be possible. You can only view a rental on the device used to do so, unless it is done via computer (in which case you can stream using home sharing)

So I keep trying to sync music to my iPhone from iTunes, and whenever I select the album the sync goes by really fast and nothing goes onto my phone. Then when I click "On this iPhone" it shows the songs, but they're grey, and I can't click on them. Help?
Ok, sorry. And yes, I just restored my iPhone as new and tried to put all the songs on there before I even restored with my previous backup, but it still does the same thing... even when I just checked the option to sync only "selected music or videos". How's that possible?
P.S. After I tried syncing with checked songs only, nothing showed up under Music on my phone and this message popped up in iTunes: "The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish." If you could, please tell me what that means, thanks. -
I've created playlists with songs I've purchased from iTunes and also added songs I've purchased from iTunes to existing playlists. Everytime I go to sync the playlist to my iPhone I find some of the new songs missing from the playlist. I've deleted the playlist from the phone and reinstalled it. I don't know what I"m doing wrong. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
Wondering if you haven't been bitten by the new "feature" of iOS 5, as was my son. turingtest2 explained it very well in reply to my own query about "missing" songs in playlists.

How do I delete a movie (not bought from iTunes) and have it actually deleted from the library as well, I keep deleting stuff from iTunes to try and free up some space only to find the file still in the library?
It depends upon what preferences settings you use. Most people use default settings so when you delete an item it asks you if you want to get rid of the file too.
If iTunes absolutely refuses to get rid of the file (I have never heard of this by the way) you can always go to the media folder or wherever the file is located and drag it to the trash yourself. -
I purchased an audio book from itunes and cannot figure out how to get it on my nano 7. I have tried everything.
Have you double checked to make sure these Audiobooks are configured to sync to your iPod from under the iPod's Books configuration tab in iTunes? This is assuming that the audiobooks are already stored in your iTunes library and appear under the Books category.
To access this configuration tab, plug in your iPod and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab. Now locate the Books tab across the top in the main iTunes window and select it. Here you can configure what and how audiobooks are synced to the device.
If you make any changes to this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button on in the lower right hand corner. This will sync the updated changes to your device.

I am trying to remove photos from itunes so I can resync my ip4 and remove all the photos that were transferred from my Win7 PC when I synced the phone. No tabs on the phone to delete so I assume I will need to delete from itunes and resync the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
JMI believe you just are able to delete them from iTunes.
