Drmos alarm at 30-37c on mpower big bang?

i have spent a great deal of time searching for a similar situation, but with no results i now ask you all for assistance.
system specs:
i5 2500k
z77 mpower
kingston genesis 1333 2 x 4gb
2 x nvidia reference gtx 680 in sli
win 7 ult x64
so, i was messing around with overclock settings, as i am having severe instability even at 4.2ghz that results in machine code exception error bsods.  i have come to the conclusion this is due to a crappy cpu, though it is perfectly stable at stock settings (?).
i changed multiplier to x44 during my experiment and ended up in a looping non-boot, which went on perpetually; no revert to stock bios settings.  my assumed answer to this is to run your very impressive hq usb flashing tool to recover settings in my a bios, which i will do as soon as i fix my next issue.
that issue is:  i am getting all phase led's on blue, but drmos alarm is blinking, and in win i get popups approximately every two minutes warning me of mosfet overheat and possible shutdown.  obv this is keeping me from being comfortable flashing the a bios.
in gpu-z hw monitor, bios, click bios, etc. i am getting normal temp readings of 30-37c, with no spike at any time no matter what i do.
i have no idea how to handle this, besides cleaning and reapplying thermal paste to the cpu, but obv i would prefer some simpler fix, if one exists.
i thank you all in advance for your time and energy,  .   i will keep this laptop on next to me as i attempt to rectify this tonight.

hey guys, ya i know how to clear cmos on this board, i was just stuck in an intel support chat and couldnt get to it right away.
turns out, it worked, so thats awesome!  even though i have no idea why i was getting that drmos alarm, as long as its gone, its cool with me.
thanks x a million, i probably wouldnt have thought of that.

  • Z77 mpower big bang, leds when power off

ive just updated my bios from h50 to h60. With h50 when i turned my pc off all the LEDs on my motherboard, including the two LEDs on my graphics card went out. Now with h60 they dont and its driving me nuts as my pc is in my bed room. i cant get to sleep without turning my pc off at the power supply as it lights my wall up. How do I make the LEDs all turn off again?
    cheers

Fixed, I forgot to update the me driver, did that and its working as before now.

  • Z77 MPower BIG BANG Boot issue

    Hey guys,
I am having a serious boot issue. I left my PC on playing in auto mode for Sim City while I slept one night and was woken up to my computer violently rebooting itself after a few seconds (the backspin on my graphics card on boot makes it loud). I cut the power because using the power button wouldn't work.
I cannot get into my BIOS, nor get any thing to show up on my screen via VGA or HDMI (both through the card and mobo ports). Although I did get a quick flash of BIOS text after I switched the bios from a->b on the board itself, but it quickly went away.
This is what I am getting on boot now:
Debug LED goes from 4F-> 64->92 and gets stuck on d7 with all the CPU phase LEDs on.
    My build:
    i5 3570k
    Corsair 16GB
    GTX 660 Ti
    Windows 7 64-bit
Thanks for any help/tips/advice in advance.

B4? That's usually a USB problem of some kind.
What IDE mode was the OS loaded under? Z77 default is AHCI, so is that the mode it was installed? Keyboard and mouse basic standard USB devices? Since you can get into the UEFI/BIOS now, double check the IDE controller mode is set correctly and the boot order is set to nothing but the OS drive.
What is the OS installed on, HDD or SSD?
My operating system is installed on the HDD, my only drive installed. I cannot get any further into my BIOS. I run the set-up and it hangs on "entering setup...".  I hit F2 to continue and it reboots a few times very briefly (2 times) and then it gets stuck on A2 in the right hand corner. If I do not clear CMOS after doing the previous and booting the computer again, it reboots 4 times and gets stuck on b4.
I have a microsoft sidewinder x4 keyboard installed in a 2.0 port on the back and no mouse as it's bluetooth (and my only one).

  • Z77 MPower drMOS alarm

Hi! I acquired a z77mower mobo a couple of days ago but it wont run. I installed everything and when i turn the PC on all i get the drmos alarm litting up saying the drmos is overheating, and 2 phase leds also, and then it shuts off. Then i tried connecting just the CPU and 2 sticks of ram (didn't try with one now that i think of it), but the problem persisted. Given that this is a new board, i don't understand how can the chips around my CPU socket be overheating from just turning on..
    My specs:
    Board: MSI Z77 MPOWER
Bios: whatever version it brings as default
    VGA: ATI Radeon HD5850
    PSU: LC-Power Hyperion 700W
Intel Core i5-3570k Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
    MEM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2133 2x4GB
    HDD: Kingston V200 128GB SSD
    COOLER: Corsair Hydro H40
OS: Lets get it to run first..

the bios depends on the Date of manufacture but that's not to important as the CPU you have is usable from the base version of 17.1 that all mpower boards are from start of manufacture are installed with!
the PSU you have seems poor to say the least! 4 X 18A +12V rails is very bad and could account for whats happening as you could have some power choking going on causing the DRmos from powering up fully giving this error so test another higher power Single rail unit with atleast a 40A or better rail!
also test the setup outside the case on a non conductive surface to make sure its not being shorted by the case or an extra standoff!
Thank you for the advice, ill try to get another psu to test the board, although my psu never gave me any problems with my old build. Is there any chance this might be a defect from the board itself?

  • Big Bang XPower 2 wont reboot just shut's down

I just started having this issue yesterday for some reason when i reset / restart my computer it turns off instead of rebooting yet if i reboot from within windows it seems to reboot fine but pressing the reset button or ctrl + alt +delete results in the computer shutting down instead of restarting.
iv tried removing and switching memory , graphics card and power supplies with the same result.
i also just noticed that the drmos 2 red light comes on to say something is overheating yet no components seem to be overheating.
i was on the latest beta bios when this started 1.3b6 i believe it is and have switched back to 1.3b5 but with the same result's and clearing the cmos doesnt have any effect other than the drmos light stays off until i enter the bios.
Update: if i boot the computer into windows the drmos alarm light goes off and i can reboot from within windows but then the drmos alarm light comes back on while booting up.

i dont have a multimeter handy at the moment will see if i can get my hands on one tomorrow.
as for using the latest final i have the removable chip on the 1.2 final and i think it was the same or are you sujesting reflash it now? since that one would of been flashed 2 months ago when i got the board.
its a very odd problem that i dont remember ever seeing or hearing about before.i wonder even though the computer is connected to a surge protector might there still of been a surge or something similar that coulda caused it?
im not sure if this is relevant but the cpu phase led's are either all always on or flashing are they supposed to be doing that?
sorry for all the questions but i get curious when i cant figure out whats wrong and fix things myself.

  • MSI BIG BANG Xpower II boot issue - LED code 9A

    Hello all,
I am facing to issue after BIOS update from 2.6 to 2.7. After update was machine working properly. But after one crash of OS cant boot at all. Crash was probably caused by overloading GPUs but there were no issue with cards and this board during 3 weeks of 100% GPU and CPU load. No video (connected only one GPU card), no Numlock key/led is working (this is good test if PC is reacting even no picture).
Board: MSI BIG BANG XPOWER II
    Bios: Version 2.7
    VGA:  4x AMD SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 290x
    PSU:   Silverstone 1500W (gold)
CPU:   Intel Core i7-4930K 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011
    MEM: 1x Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL10 HyperX blu Edition
    HDD: WD Blue 256gb 5400
    COOLER: NOCTUA NH-D14
    OC: 3.9GHz
    OS: Windows 8.1 64bit Professional
    Tried
    - switch BIOS from A to B also C (with small switch).
    - cleared Cmos with onboard button.
    - removed Battery for a while
System start booting and stuck always on 9a LED code.
From manual it looks like it is USB, SATA initialisation phase.
I think CPU or Mem should be fine.
Anyone who met this issue or any sollution?
I am thinking to replace this board under warranty.
    Thanks for any info..

    Hi Froggy,
    Thanks for reply.
But I have tried disconnected all USB devices and got same LED code. If this happend because of some USB configuration in BIOS why reset of CMOS did not help?
It very well could be setting(s) in the BIOS, but I am not qualified to be of much assistance when Win 8/8.1 is involved.

  • MSI Big Bang Marshal - Questions

    Hello all
I am new here and I have been doing research on components for a new computer I am making a shopping list for. I have a few questions I have not been able to find any information online. Here goes
    1. Anything specific I should know about the motherboard other then whats in the specs? Problems, quirks, etc?
    2. Does the motherboard only support 2x Dual Video cards like 2x Nvidia GTX 590 or can I use 4x Nvidia GTX 480s?
    3. P67 motherboards with the nf200 on them support 24 pci-e lanes. if I use:
    PCI_E1 - 8x
    PCI_E3 - 8x
    PCI_E5 - 8x
    PCI_E7 - 8x
    Makes up 24
    But there are still:
    PCI_E2 - 1x
    PCI_E4 - 1x
    PCI_E6 - 1x
    PCI_E8 - 1x
Left. Does that mean there are no lanes left and I coudnt even fill anything in the other 4 slots like PCI-E Sound, etc?
    4. If you do Dual, Tri, Quad-SLI and have a PhysX card, how many PCI-E lanes will your PhysX card consume? Is it set by the NVIDIA control panel, the number of lanes of the chipset divided by the mount of video cards or by the card itself?
    5. When people say Dual, Tri, Quad-SLI +PhysX, does it mean (Dual -1(PhysX), Tri -1(PhysX), Quad -1(PhysX) or does it mean (Dual +1, Tri +1, Quad +1)?
    6. I know Scalability of increasing arrays of video cards is pretty poor, but could I do Quad SLI +PhysX using the MSI Big Bang Marshal?
    7. Which is most advantageous, Tri SLI +PhysX, Quad SLI, Quad SLI +PhysX?
    8. Sorry, probably not related, but I wanted to do Raid with SSD's for very fast reads and writes yet have redundancy. I wanted to get some OCZ Vertex 3s and I was reading about how Raid 5 was interesting but apparently Raid 5 increases the degredation of SSD? Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions on best raid configurations?
Thank you for all of your help

By my count, that makes 32 lanes. If not done so, a lot of pre preparation information can be gathered at the MSI Global Website. All the basic & more detailed information can be found there. The downloadable pdf manual is usually much more comprehensive than the manual that comes with the board as well, & can probably answer a lot of your questions. I don't believe the board can do Quad GTX 480 SLI.

  • MSI Big Bang-XPower, Corsair AX1200W and 6-pin motherboard connector

Hello, I apologize if this has been answered but I didn't seem to find it on the forums. I have the Corsair AX1200 power supply and the MSI Big Bang-XPower motherboard. The board has two ATX 8-pin connectors. I know that the second one is only needed if you are doing serious overcloking. But I assume it's ok to plug both in whether or not I'm overclocking?? I see the AX1200 has two EPS/ATX 8-4 pin connectors so I am fine there.
My real question is that the mother board also has an ATX 6-pin connector for the graphics card. Firstly, is this needed since the graphics card has it's own power connector (I have the EVGA SuperClocked 015-P3-1582-AR GeForce GTX 580). The card needs a PCI-E 6 pin and an 8 pin connector. I see the AX1200 has six 6+2 pin connectors so I believe I'm fine there.
But for the motherboard connector, can i use one of the PCE-E 6+2 pin connectors (just 6 pins obviously), or is this not good sine the connector is not labeled as an ATX connector?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Bumping this as it is the question I have. How does the motherboard access this power from the EPS? It is constantly available to the cpu? Would it not be better to plug in the 2x8 pin EPS anyway as it gives a greater redundancy?
I am sorry if this is a stupid question but I recently got flamed on a forum for carrying on about connecting the EPS cables up to my Corsair Ax850. The flamers carried on and on about how I would never need to use the EPS unless it was LN2 cooling.
I cannot see the harm in it but I would like to understand computer power supplies a bit more and how exactly they work. For example why do some vid cards have 6 pin and other 8 pin when it looks as if both plugs just have a 12 volt lead on one row and the other row a ground lead?
    Anyhoo.
    Happy first post to me.

    Thank You

I built it and it posted on the 1st try
the only thing that went wrong is the digital power phase indicator near the socket is not working now (it worked at first)
the oc dashboard is really cool, I use it all the time to monitor the CPU temp

For BIOS Update: >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<

Hey guys real quick. So after updating to the new 7670IMS>310 bios so that I may use my GTX780s, I reinstalled with windows 8. Everything was fine until I was on teamviewer just last nite and upon switcing sides my bios got corrupted. How do I know you ask? Upon getting back into windows my LANS did not work so I had not internet connection. I tried uninstalling it from Device Manager and deleting it. After a few clrmos. I thought I would switch over to the other bios and see if the LAN works and it does because of the status lights because now it lights up. So I switch back to main bios and LAN works but it would not post whatsoever and just cycles through post finally ending with a " DE ". Not sure what the new LED DEBUG codes are but if someone could post it would be nice to be able to refer to it.
Anyways on win 8, no matter what it will not let me into windows And when it looks like it will...gives me "your pc ran into problems and we are collecting data and we'll restart after" message. After a few of these wonderful messages, I decided I was going to flash my bios again. It did look like I was sucessful until after restart it did the same thing. Going through post I saw 19,15 then shuts off. Does this and ends with "DE" pc still on but nothing. No windows.
I got lucky a few times and was able to get into my bios and decided I was going back to Win 7 64......I put the good ole XFX6990 back in and got windows 7 to reinstall and continue to flash my bios to an older one. I used your method before and it work> from 3.0 back to 1.5 then from 1.5 back to 1.2 for OC purposes. So i tried that method but it looked like it just reflash it with 3.1, odd.
So after a few restarts everything seems fine, no cycles just normal. When I reboot normal process no double boots or cycles this time so I thought hey, that fixed my corrupted bios somehow. I thought I gotten lucky.... So I switch out the good old 6990 and in with my 780s. Reinstalled win 7 and upon completion of windows update. Again with the cycles of 19,15 turns off does this again over and over like 5 or 6 times and ends with "DE"
And this is where I'm at atm. I remember when I DL'd the flasher and bios. I only saw 2 files which was " VALVE CHECK AND E7670IMS.310".
When I tried to do it again with the same method as the first I have "
    #BIOS
    #BK_6.Z7
    #EFIFLASH
    #MSIHQ(icon)
    #MSIHQ_INFO
    #MT420"
This time it does not go through the same when flashing, just tells me bios update complete. I've done this a million times and all have been successful.
Basically I'm still on 3.1 bios but I 'm curious as what other methods do you suggest I try now? I have left everything alone after reinstalling windows and updates. Everything seems okay, reboots fine no cycles and still get the random hit or miss with 15,19 turns off cycles and ends with "DE". Would like to get a resolution if possible. Thank you and I know I said real quick right, but really. Thanks for any help.
    I'm going nuts!!

  • MSI Big Bang XPower II - Corsair H60 Water cooling issue

So I am using a Corsair H60 water cooling on my MSI Big Bang XPower II mainboard.  I have followed the correct instructions on installation but every time I turn the computer on once it its 31 it shuts down.  Everything seems to be working correctly except the cooling.  There are no instructions that really relate well to installation for this water cooling to this mother board so I have tried placing the pump power and the fan power on various different inputs.  I have the pump just on a sys power fan and the 120mm fan blowing through the coils on the back of the machine connected to the CPU 1 head fan (as instructed in their videos).  I am not 100% sure the pump is working but I know that the fan is working and the hardware overview shows it recognizes the fan.
anyone have some ideas to try to see if I can get this to work? I am also wondering if it is a faulty pump or something but it seems to be working.

The pump is not working. The 3-pin connector for a fan header is just for reading out pump speed. You need to power it with the molex connector.

  • MSI Big Bang XPower II - Firewire and PCI issues

    Hi all,
yesterday i recieved my new MSI Big Bang XPower II and got some really strange issues:
First of all ill let you know my hardware:
MSI Big Bang XPower II (BIOS v1.4) new
    Intel I7 Extreme 3960X new
    G.SKILL 64GB RAM Kit 1600 new
Palit NVIDIA GTX 680 - 4096 near new
3 x RME Soundcards used but okay
7 x WD 2TB SATA where 3 are OS Systems and 4 are Storage used but okay
Be Quiet Dark Power 1200W new
    1 Problem:
There is absolutely no Firewire available. I tested the onboard connection (which is at the backplate) and i also tested the extension connection with a additional firewire slot. Also it seems that wether Windows nor Linux is recognizing the firewire at all. The strange thing is that i recieved this new board after i send the first one back to my reseller with exactly the same problem!!! I also take a look into the BIOS if there is any option i need to activate but as far as i see there is nothing to set for 1394?
    2 Problem:
As you can read above i use my GTX680 and all 3 RME Soundcards each with one PCI Slot. But some of the slots are not working fine. If i, for example mount my GTX680 to Slot 1 and want to mount my first RME Souncard to slot 4 (2 and 3 are covered under my GTX680) its not working. If i try it in slot 6 for example, the soundcard works fine.
    BUT:
The slot 4 is not damaged cause if i set my GTX680 to slot 8 and retry my RME Cards in slot 4 its working...
    Never had that before!
I connected the 24pin ATX and both 8pin connectors (the 4pin additional connector for the graphics is not used).
Would be nice if someone guiding me through the dark

With so many components and shared resources, you are gambling with IORQs and I/O addressing space.
Mmmhmm i dont thought about getting interrupts, MSI is offering the board with that configration/features and if there is one user out who try to use the board near to the fullest it should of course work or not?!

  • MSI big bang marshal B3 HECI pointer mismatch

    Hi all
I have a MSI big bang marshal B3 with a 2600K cpu, i flashed the motherboard with 3.1 and 3.0 bios but can't change cpu multiplier
Finally i went back to 1.5 bios and all is good but now i have the "HECI pointer mismatch" at boot and can't find my secondary HDD in Windows.
I tried the MSI USB flashing Tools but same problem
Thanks to all for your help

You have this issue due to a downgrade without a special archive required. It is actually recommended to use bios 3.1 any way. Note that you need to use +/- keys of numpad to alter core ratio in later versions.

  • MSI Big Bang-XPower II SLI question

Hello. I have a MSI Big Bang-XPower II with two cards in SLI. The cards are cooled using AIO water cooling brackets which makes them take up three slots each instead of two. I would like to add a third card with the same cooling. The manual says that for 3-way sli I should use slots 1,3 and 5 or 7 as they are all PCIe 3. My processor doesn't do PCIe 3 so I leave it in PCIe 2 mode. My question is, could I set up the SLI configuration using slots 1, 4 and 7? Would it run at 16/8/8 in pcie 2? Or would the 4th slot not be usable for sli?
    Thanks

No, that is not possible. PCI_E4 is a gen2 slot limited to x4. SLI is disabled once a slot used is at less than 8 lanes. Follow the Multi GPU support table on 1-21 of your manual.
