Droid 2 Global: phone staying on only when plugged in.

I've had my phone for about 8 months and I've had no problems until this morning. When I turned my phone on at frist it seemed normal. After it sitting for a second, it cut off. I tried turning it back on and the Motorola screen just kept popping on and off and when plugging it into a charger it would go to the bootloader and say "battery low can not program". I read other threads saying to plug it into the charger and leave it plugged in but my phone was fully charged, from a wall charger, in the first place. Now it only stays on when it is plugged in. WHAT'S GOING ON?

    krg2941,
Good afternoon! I'm sorry to learn the phone is being difficult. That's a big bummer! I would recommend you check the charging port on the phone for rust or corrosion, as that could be causing these concerns. Also, popping the battery out for 10-20 seconds while the phone is on, is another good tip. You may benefit from a new battery or a new device if you are unable to resolve with a reboot. Please send me (AdamE_VZW) a direct message for further assistance if necessary.
Thank you,

  • DROID GLOBAL PHONE ?

hello all you droid experts. i went to the lake and caught some fish this weekend. i took some short  videos with my phone. now when i try to email the video or "Share" the video, it says that the file is too big. it doesn't ask me if i want to shrink the file so i can send it so......can i shrink the file and send it in an email? thanks in advance.

Thanks Ann154 for that feedback and suggestion!
Deerhunter1, I can understand how frustrating that is.  I just recently experienced that exact same issue!  It was because the video file was too large for me to send either by MMS (picture/video message), or by email.  You may be able to send to another device via Bluetooth, giving your device gives you that option.  You can also hard wire sync the file to your computer using your USB cable.  The subject line says your device is a droid global phone.  Below I am including a link for transferring picture & video files from a Droid 2 Global phone to a computer.  The link will actually be for transferring music files, however, the concept is the same.

Let me know how this works!

While updating the iPhone 5 software from 6.1.3 to 6.1.4, the power failed. iTunes had just finished the backup and was beginning the software update. Now the phone screen says to connect to iTunes but the phone is not recognised when plugged in. Using Windows 7 and phone not recognised by computer, let alone by iTunes.
Any suggestions? Happy to take it off to the the Apple genius people but would prefer to get it running myself.

  • My phone will not charge when plugged in. It doesn't show the charge bar as green

My phone will not charge when plugged in. It doesn't show the charge bar as green

    Hello alleyfun
For issues with your iPhone not charging, check out the troubleshooting below to see if you can get it sorted out and working again.
iPod Displays a Red "X" Icon
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1463
    Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.
    Regards,
    -Norm G.

  • HT201263 Phone doesn't stay on only when charging

My phone doesn't stay on. Only when is charging. Once I unplug it, it shuts off

This is a feature of faulty battery. Next step is battery replacement.

  • My phone is not charging when plugged onto the computer

Hi guy my phone is not showing in itunes when plugged in, what could be the reason for this

I had the same problem after my daughter was here and used my computer to charge her phone.  I ended up having to completely remove Itunes from my computer and then reinstall.  Followed the instructions on the itunes help explaining step by step how to remove.

  • How to turn on backlit keyboard only when plugged in to the power

    Hi there,
is there any way I can have the backlit keyboard turn on only when the laptop is plugged into the wall outlet and not when it is running on battery?
    thanks!

Not that I know of. Your only option is to use the F5/F6 keys to turn on/off when needed/not needed.

  • Iphone 4 keeps rebooting... but only when plugged in

My iphone keeps rebooting itself... but only when I have it plugged in to the wall.  When its not plugged in, it seems to work fine.
We have two iphones in our house... and I have tried the  other wall charger... same result.
I went through the recovery mode restore... and its still doing it.
    Any suggestions?

If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, when your iPhone is connected to your Mac, is it connected direct to a USB port on your computer - not connected to a USB hub?
Since the buzzing/beeps continue when your iPhone is connected to the AC adaptor, do you have another USB dock connector cable to try to rule out a problem with your iPhone's USB cable?

  • My iphone 4 is stuck on the apple log then goes to plug into itunes only when plugged in.

my iphone is only accesable when pluged in and when plugged in it goes on and of from the apple logo and then if i hold the sleep wake and home botton it will go to restore mode/connect to itunes.

  • Phone does not ring when plugged into external speakers

Is there a docking speaker that will allow the iPhone to ring for incoming calls when plugged into speaker listening to music?

    Hi Alicia,
All of the iPhone compatible speakers listed here: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopiphone/iphoneaccessories/speakers?mco=MTU2NjIwMw should allow the iPhone to ring while in the dock.
You can also see a rating and reviews for each dock.

  • Phone is not charging when plugged in

    Hey There,
So I have a blackberry 9300 that I use on the Mobilicity network. My charging port broke off that, so I have been using an older 8520 with no sim card to charge my 9300
Usually, I just pop the battery out and put it into the older one, and it charges in about an hour.
The last time I did this was on Friday. Last night, I tried charging my battery using the same method, and it stopped working. The phone recognized that it was plugged in (it changed screens to the clock) but the phone then freezes and doesn't charge.
I googled around today, and reinstalled the OS through my PC (Desktop software recognized it and let me do it) but it still didn't charge. I know its getting some power because its still on, and its super red battery level.
This didn't help though, and I'm still experiencing this issue.
What should I do? I'm slightly freaking out, because I haven't been able to backup my 9300 since the port broke (in February)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

You could either have the charging port repaired on your 9300, find a cheap working unit for sale that takes the same battery or buy one of those docks you insert a battery into and recharge it that way. Good luck with what ever route you try.

  • Works only when plugged in to USB... help!

My apologies if this has been covered, but I've been searching and haven't found my exact problem anywhere so I'm hoping someone can help me. This is a string of stupid decisions on my part so I'm hoping we can all overlook that...
I have an original iPhone that got wet because I had it with me at the pool earlier this week. It did not get submerged, just lightly splashed. The sticker inside is even still white, but since it hasn't been working properly since, I know my issue must be due to water damage. Naturally I did what everyone in retrospect says you shouldn't do, and checked the phone to see if it was working, since the splash really wasn't that big, and it didn't seem like enough water was involved to cause any damage. It seemed to be okay at first. Then it starts telling me that the peripheral that is plugged in isn't compatible with iPhone (nothing was plugged in). A couple hours later I noticed the headphone jack was not working- I get sound through the speaker but not headphones. By this point the sleep/wake button was no longer working so I couldn't shut it off even though I desperately wanted to. Then it started doing what it does now- turns on and off every 10 seconds or so, alternating between being off and displaying the apple logo. I think I am beyond the bag of rice trick at this point (which i did try), and since it didn't get submerged I don't think a lot of water got in there anyway, but some must have.
So here's where it gets tricky. When I have the phone plugged into my computer, any computer, via USB, then it works fine for calls and apps and syncing, just not for headphones or the sleep/wake button.
I took it to the apple store where I was told that they don't fix these (it's out of warranty), that apple figures it's cheaper for china to just build a new one than for them to fix them in-store, and that it would be $199 to replace my old 2G phone. Since it works, kinda, I can't just give up on it and shell out another $199. Still, it would be nice to put the "mobile" back in my mobile phone and not need to be tethered to a computer to use it.
I have considered upgrading to 3G/3GS, but my spouse and I are both happy with our old, cheaper, 2G plan, and we both prefer the non-plastic, heartier 2G phones to the newer ones. If at all possible I would love to keep my 2G phone without having to shell out $199.
Can anyone identify what the faulty part in this situation might be? I'm hoping I could replace the on/off headphone flex cable and it will solve these problems, but I don't want to waste time and money to repair that part if it might be something else, or if it's another kind of short circuit that is irreplaceable. Any wisdom you might have is GREATLY appreciated!

This will only help you a little. I had an identical problem, caused in almost the identical way. Same thing, no immersion evidence, but could not shut phone off, and it "relit" every 10 seconds or so. I did ALL of the recommended fixes, but nothing worked. I found that one of my USB cables, when left in the iPhone (but not connected to anything else) allowed it to function normally. No it's "portable/mobile", but I have to leave the plug in the docking pins, and stuff the wire in my pocket. I've upgraded to the 3GS (same price as Apple's 2G replacement, since I was at 2 years on my contract). I haven't yet tried cutting the cord to the plug and seeing if that works. I'm giving the original phone to my granddaughter, so I might cut the cord and see if the plug works without the cord. This might help you get a "mobile" phone back, if you don't mind a cord in your pocket, or cutting the cord and leaving the plug in works. Hope this helps.

  • MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display 15-inch 2012 making strange cricket-like noise (only when plugged in)

Hi guys, I have a year old retina MBP. Recently, it just started making this high-pitched whirring cricket-like sounds. Although pretty quiet, the sound is pretty annoying. This sound has a few strange characteristics that make it hard for me to pin it down to any component:
    - the sound only occurs when laptop is PLUGGED IN, when my laptop is not plugged (on battery), there is no sound
    - reducing the screen brightness, reduces the sound but does not make it go away (even with no backlight, the sound is still there)
    - the sound occurs mostly when performing going into MISSION CONTROL or swiping between desktops. It also sometimes happens randomly, but that is less common. It follows the inputs of trackpad and keyboard, though mostly mission control swipes and desktop changes. It doesn't coincide with intensive CPU, GPU, RAM or SSD tasks (ie running a CPU/GPU heavy app, or compressing a file does not increase the quantity of sound)
    - I am not very sure where the sound originates from, might be from the top left of the keyboard (q key), but it is also louder near the speakers.
    ALSO:
    - It is not from the fans, as they occur when fans are running slow or fast and this sound is unaffected by any changes in fan speed
    - reducing backlight has no effect
    - turning automatic graphic off or on has no effect
    - resetting NVRAM, etc. has no effect
    Most likely theory:
    - some kind of faulty capacitor maybe?
         - but then which part of the laptop to replace....
    - I don't have Applecare, but I do have a third-party warranty; they've agreed to replace the faulty part...
    - I've read the forums and have seen people with similar problems (though never this exactly; replacing fans and logic board does not seem to help)

    guiparent,
whether it’s worth the price or not is an entirely subjective opinion. My own choice was to buy a used non-Retina 13-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, and replace its hard drive with a SSD; but since I don’t use graphic-intensive apps such as the Adobe Creative Suite, my own choice would most likely not be best for you. Given your graphic design background, if you find the non-Retina displays sufficient for your needs, I’d recommend that you consider a used 15-inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro. That model has memory sockets, so you can replace/upgrade the RAM if needed; its internal disk can be replaced by/upgraded with any 2.5-inch 9.5-mm-high SATA hard disk or SSD; and it has a built-in SuperDrive.
