Droid 2 Global SIM issue

Got my Droid 2 Global 2 with an unlock code.   When I put in a foreign sim, it prompted for the code, I entered it and it worked fine.  However, when (in the US) I switch to GSM mode, it says there is no service.  Worse, it correctly displays "T-Mobile/TalkMobile" (the SIM is a UK Talkmobile SIM which in other phones roams fine on T-Mobile and AT&T) so it has found the network and the SIM, but is preventing me from using it.   On my Samsung Renown, things work fine with this SIM.
Any ideas?   In the past, we know that the Verizon SIM doesn't work on US networks, but what is blocking other SIMs here?
Thanks

I've herd that the only way to get rid of this is to do a factory data reset. Fortunately it hasn't happened to me yet so I can't confirm.

  • The Cost of the Droid DNA SIM Error:  $299!

    10+ year Verizon Wireless customer
Recently endured 2 years of the HTC ThunderGarbage.
Switched to a HTC Droid DNA on launch day.
I dealt with the SIM randomly not working and being inaccessible multiple times a day.  This was a pretty common problem (over 1 million results on Google for "Droid DNA SIM error").
I had enough when I missed an urgent call on a family matter and called Verizon.  The agent said nothing was in the works for a resolution so I could send it in for a replacement device.  It's a major issue.  A phone that intermittently can't send and receive calls.
My malfunctioning phone had a crack in the screen, but was 100% functional otherwise.  Well, other than when the design/manufacturing problem caused the SIM to not be recognized.....turning my phone into a 2-year contract paperweight.
Now I get a $299 Damaged Device Fee on my bill.
To make matters worse, less than a month after returning my phone, Verizon released a minor software update that fixed the SIM error.  I'd rather have my old phone with the software update.
The "activation fee" and stuff like this.........it's no wonder people are switching carriers.

The Cost_of_sales_account & Sales_account as defined in the MTL_PARAMETERS are different from those in MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B for the corresponding item. The values for these accounts in the interface tables are same as that in the MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B table and hence not same as those defined in MTL_PARAMETERS.
Actually we have a Custom trigger on the MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B table which updates these accounts, once the item is created in the Master Organization.
To verify this issue, I updated the accounts on the MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_INTERFACE table to match with that of MTL_PARAMETERS. Ran the 'Item Import', now those records are processed.
Does this means that, the Interface is validating the cost_of_sales_account & sales_account to match with that of the 'Organization' ??.
But we never had this issue in 11i. Is this a part of R12??

  • DROID GLOBAL PHONE ?

hello all you droid experts. i went to the lake and caught some fish this weekend. i took some short  videos with my phone. now when i try to email the video or "Share" the video, it says that the file is too big. it doesn't ask me if i want to shrink the file so i can send it so......can i shrink the file and send it in an email? thanks in advance.

Thanks Ann154 for that feedback and suggestion!
Deerhunter1, I can understand how frustrating that is.  I just recently experienced that exact same issue!  It was because the video file was too large for me to send either by MMS (picture/video message), or by email.  You may be able to send to another device via Bluetooth, giving your device gives you that option.  You can also hard wire sync the file to your computer using your USB cable.  The subject line says your device is a droid global phone.  Below I am including a link for transferring picture & video files from a Droid 2 Global phone to a computer.  The link will actually be for transferring music files, however, the concept is the same.
Transfer Music Files - Motorola Droid 2 Global (A956)
Let me know how this works!

  • +44 Global Sim Card

I have followed the instructions in setting up a global sim card. It was fairly easy after a few support phone calls.
    http://http://www.telestial.com/userguides/ipad_data_userguide_en.pdf
However, I cannot seem to get the IPad to accept the international telephone number for
SMS texting. SMS texts are sent from various other devices to the IPad through the sim card, but I can't pick them up.
If you look at the Apple web site regarding iMessage, it seems to imply you can use an international telephone number.
Unfortunately, when you type in a number, the response is that it cannot validate the email.
Does anyone have a solution?   I also just recently updated the iOS to 6.1.

I think I get it now.  iMessage only works with the iPad if:
    a. you have iOS 5 or greater,
    b. you sign up to iMessage
    c. the people you send messages to are also signed up to iMessage.
Your A,B and C are correct.
It seems to be similar to Viber or Magic Jack.
Yes, they all uses Internet, but the underlying technology is different.
Furthermore iMessage it's free and it will sync across all your Apple devices.
Can anyone suggest how to test messaging if they have an iPad, not an iPhone?
You can use the Apple ID to activate your iPad's iMessage.
Tell your friend with an Apple device to send you a message by using your e-mail address (instead of a phone number).

  • COME ON APPLE! iphone 4s SIM ISSUE!!

please, has anyone rec'd any advice from the horses mouth regarding the sim issue?? im unable to make calls / send sms. im on ios5.01, have restored, restarted, popped the sim, unlocked the sim, whispered sweet nothings..........
have replaced the sim.... i bought my 32gig unit in Singapore and am now in Cambodia which equates to ZERO iphone support from Apple. Whats a guy to do with a nice shiny phone it its box? Sim works fine in 3GS and various other non Apple handsets. BIG ISSUE here. Ive tried the sticky tape, cleaning the SIM, re cutting a new SIM.
If the contacts of the SIM are touching the sim holder could this be the cause of the problem........?
Any feedback would be greatly rec'd..

I have similar problem. Bought the phone in Singapore and is using a China mobile SIM card. I get invalid SIM card almost everyday, as soon as I restart, the signal is back again. I tried changing to a new SIM card but it still have that problem.
On another issue, my battery life didn't last as long as my previous 4G.

  • My folders missing in email app Droid Global

I can only see the stock folders for my verizon mail on my Droid Global. Why can't I see My Folders that I create?

    Hi TyB,
I know it's important to use your email while on the go. I would like to assist, but I do need some additional information. When you mention "Verizon mail," do you mean your verizon.net email? What type of email are you using? Are you using the Mail application on the device (from the Market), or are you accessing Mail from your browser?
When viewing your email on your PC, you do get the option to create your own folders. On your device, only a certain amount of folders are supported, so this may be the reason that the ones you created do not appear. Below is a link for setting up email and all the details for the Droid 2 Global device.
I hope this information is helpful for you, and for other Droid 2 Global users.

  • Why will iPhone 4 MC610LL recognize my global SIM while MC319LL will not?

I have 4 Unlocked iPhone 4 - Two MC319LL and one each MC610LL/A and MC609LL all of which will work on either the AT&T or T-Mobile networks.  Both of the MC610LL/A and MC609LL will recognize my SIM Pin Locked Global SIM both making and receiving calls.  Neither of the Two MC319LL will unlock that same Global SIM and both return "Invalid SIM".  Can someone explain why?

I work through a contractor with direct access to Apple's database and all phones return "Initial Activation Policy Description:  US GSM Country Default Policy  Lock Status: Unlocked" for their respective IMEI and Serial Numbers while a known Locked phone verified at the same time returned "Simlock:locked".
Even without verification, I maintain active T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs and have never known a Locked phone to work on both the AT&T and T-Mobile Network with a SIM swap.

  • Droid Global and Corporate Sync account - message deletion

This applies to Corporate Sync accounts only! Not IMAP or POP accounts, please.
I've read the many threads on this board regarding syncing emails with a Exchange Server. It seems that on my brand new Droid Global, when I delete an email on the phone, it deletes the email also on the server, and so also on my main office PC.
That is, of course, not what I intend to do.
I'm just trying to keep the inbox on my phone clean and simple. I don't actually want to delete the emails on the server. I receive anywhere from 40-50 emails a day, and don't want them on my phone!!
There seems to be a fair amount of confusion going on. Some claim that they are unable to delete messages on the server. Others, like me, don't want this, and want to manage our main exchange account on our office PCs.
Is there any setting I am missing to "delete from device" only, leaving the message in my Exchange account in-box?
If not, this is a pretty serious problem for the many corporate users who might want to switch from their blackberry to Droid. Something Verizon and Motorola MUST address very soon if they intend to offer competition to the iPhone or Blackberry.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

That's understandable, and much thanks for the clear explanation.
Blackberry, of course, also "sync's" but gives the option for those who prefer more control over their email. Hopefully this is a feature that Verizon/Motorola can work on for the next software update, as it is rather critical.
Still strange, IMO, since this feature is built in on my POP account. hmmm?
I noticed that the setting you mention (how much mail to keep on the phone) doesn't always work, though. Until this morning, I had all my Tuesday (Jan 4) emails still on the phone, despite my having the phone set to only keep 1 day sync'd - - so its obviously a little buggy, too.
In any case, I guess I'll have to learn to live with it - Update, hopefully, coming soon

  • DROID DNA SIM CARD ERROR (PREPARING SIM CARD)

    >>Duplicate post removed to comply with the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service.  See Re: Please reply if you are experiencing Droid DNA SIM card errors<<

Contact VZW for support.  They will either need to register your SIM, send you a new SIM or send you a new Jetpack accordingly.  Nothing you can do about that one other than reseat the SIM and try again.

  • Droid 2 signal issues

I would really like to switch from T-Mobile back to Big Red for the coverage and the network.  I have to have a physical keyboard, so the Droid 2 seems like the best option so far but the problem is that the reviews I've read about it say it has signal issues, and that's totally unacceptable.
    http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/08/23/verizon-pushes-out-first-droid-2-update-doesnt-cure-signal-woe/
I'm not about to pay a termination fee and sign a contract with Big Red (again, I might add) if I'm going to have the same signal issues as I do with T-Mobile...
Can I get a Verizon rep to answer if motorola is working on a software fix to the signal issue?  Is it even fixable with software?

I bought a Droid 2 yesterday and taking it to work today, I've had signal issues already. I have 1 and sometime no bars and other Verizon users have pretty good signal here. I'm really disappointed because the Droid 2 seemed like such a good phone from my research.  I called customer service and they had me do a Factory Data Reset but that didn't help.
The kicker is I just exchanged my Samsung Fascinate for this Droid 2 phone and the Fascinate had great signal strength everywhere.
Is there any proven resolution out there for the Droid 2 signal issue / reception issue?

That strange because the Droid 3 is supported on Skype's site.

  • Droid Global in St. Martin

Going to St. Martin in a couple of days with my Motorola Droid Global Black which I purchased specifically for overseas travel.  When I was in St. Martin previously, I had to rent two cell phones since part of the island is French controlled and the other is Dutch controlled  -- each operating separate telephone systems.  Question:  Can I use my phone there?  How do I switch from the US system to their's.  I have never done this before, but paid a nice sum for this phone.  Please advise ASAP!  Thank you.

I hope you have a great trip.  You can certainly use the phone inSt. Martin.  I included a link here with all you need to from dialing to coverage inSt. Martin.  Have a safe trip!  Thank you.

  • Droid 2 Global Dialer Issues

I just recently recieved my Droid 2 Global... at first things were working fine. Then my dialer stopped working.
When you touch the button to open it, a blank screen will pop up, and then it will go back to the home screen.
    How can I fix this?!

    vvmb,
Sorry you are having problems with accessing the dialer on your phone!  I would be happy to assist!
This happens, usually, when there are too many applications running in the background.  This would cause the applications to use up the devices RAM memory, resulting in pre-installed apps like the phone dialer not to work at times.  I would first try "stopping any running applications" in the Applications Settings menu.  Then I would "reset applications" that may be conflicting with the dialer.  I would reset the "Dialer" application as well.  As a last resort, you can perform a "Hard Reset" of your device to clean the device's onboard memory.  This will not erase any data that is stored on your SD Memory Card, however, you want to ensure your data is backed up prior to performing the reset.  Make sure you know your Google/Gmail login credentials, and if you use Backup Assistant, your Backup Assistant PIN.
Please post your results here to ensure other users experiencing the same issue can find a resolution.
