  • Replace Nuance Voice Commands with Google Voice Search

I would like to replace the Nuance Voice Commands with Google Voice Search when i press the call button on my bluetooth stereo headset.
I do not see a way to uninstall the Nuance Voice Commands...
I do not see a way to configure the phoe so that it uses Google Voice Search instead of Nuance Voice Commands...
Factory reset defaults the phone to Nuance Voice Commands...
I would like to press the call button on my stereo headset and have more voice commands than the Nuance app provides. Has anybody found a way to change this behavior without special access?
Sorry my phone is stock and no special access...

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I just tested it here and i get the same result as you but i'm swedish as well.
Not sure if this has to do with how Google Maps behaves in different countries but a Google search is made when you say a voice command that's not recognized by any of the apps you have for the watch. There's a discussion about the "Navigate to" not working here and it seems Google is looking into it.
What i've also noticed myself is that some apps actually give wrong information about which voice command you should use so sometimes you have to try another phrase than the exact one the app is telling you to use.

  • Sending text with Google Voice

When I try to send a text message with Google Voice, the new line symbol on the key board (bottom right corner of the keyboard)  changes to a weird :-) character but only when I am in the body of the text, it is OK in the the address line. It has been suggested that I i try not filling in the address line when I compose the message but that didn't work. Any ideas?

It's been debated over and over ad infinitum whether text messages need formatting or not.  The only reason for a newline is to format text messages.  I'm of the old school, just type in a text message and send, no formatting.  The "weird :-)" is an emoticon denoting what it sounds like, emotions.  In this case a smile.

  • How to sync contacts with Google Voice?

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to the Desktop Software and need a little help.  I have had my bb for over 2 years now, but I have never used the DT software for anything but a full back up do a full reset of my phone.
So he is the situation.  I just signed up for a Google Voice account and replaced my sprint voicemail with the google voicemail.  I want to add all my bb contacts to my gmail/google account but I don't want to do it manually.  To sum things up, here are my questions (the ones that I think would solve my problem, but feel free to let me know if I'm venturing down the wrong path at anytime)
    1) Is there a way to set the DT software to use Gmail/google as the application for Address Book?  Right now I'm just using the Windows 7 Contacts.
    2) If I can't use Gmail directly, is there another application that the DT software can link to that will save all the contacts as CSV files, and then I import them to Gmail that way?  I believe Windows 7 saves them as a .contact file and Gmail says the format is invalid?
    3) How do I add applications to the DT software that are available to sync the organizer data with?  Currently the only options I have are Yahoo, Windows 7 Contacts, ASCII, and a 4th that I don't remember at the moment.
The usb port on my phone is going bad, so I have to do a balancing act it the cable in order to get the computer to even recognize that the phone is connected, so I really would like to get all my contacts into my Gmail account in case I have to get a different type of phone.... My patience is running thin waiting on the new Bold LOL
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hey dcdarrencrosby,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
You will not be able to use the BlackBerry Desktop Software to synchronize your contacts from BB to Google.
However if you have a Gmail account added on the BlackBerry, there is a wireless sync option that can bring your contacts over.

  • Can't use keyboard with google voice after 1.3.1 update

Prior to 1.3.1, when I received a call via Google Voice, when prompted with the option to "1 take the call, 2 send to voicemail etc" I could just slide out the keyboard and hit which ever number I wanted. Now, (after 1.3.1) the keyboard seems unresponsive, and I must manually: 1) switch to keypad view 2) select the key I want.
Is anybody else experiencing this? Or has anybody already filed a grievance under the feature request section of the Palm site?
    Thanks!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    Hi there,
I am getting voice prompts to: "press 1 to take the call, press 2 to send to voice mail etc". My "1" key works just fine. It is more the delay in my ability to use it that is different between 1.2.1 and 1.3.1
Previously, I could press the key and it would work right away. I could pick up the call, or send to voicemail, etc.
Now, I press it and nothing happens, however, by the time the voice prompt returns to repeat my options, my keyboard starts to work..
    I hope that's more clear!
    Thanks!
    Andrew

  • Possible to make calls with Google Voice account through iChat?

I have a Google Voice account (have for a while now), which allows me to make calls through VOIP. I've recently lost phone service and have noticed that an option when making calls in Google Voice is through Google Chat.
Now, I can never get Google Chat to work on my Macbook, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get it to work with iChat.
I have signed into my Google account through iChat, but when I make calls in Google Voice and I select to call through Google Chat, it says "Calling You" like it would if I were using my phone as the proxy, but it doesn't do anything.

I think I figured out how I want to do this.
For others in similar situations (this is assuming you HAVE a Google Voice account, which they don't give out anymore, AFAIK), go to http://www.google.com/talk/ and download the plug-in on the left. Install it, then open up your gmail in browser. On the left side, there will be a section that can let you make calls directly from your computer. SUCCESS!!

  • WARNING: iOS upgrade pitfall: iCloud Keychain deleted because incompatible with Google Voice

If the SMS-capable phone number you provided when you first set up iCloud Keychain is a Google Voice number, the verification code Apple tries to send via SMS to this phone number will not arrive. When I contacted Apple Support, after upgrading my iPhone to 7.0.4, because I did not get the verification code, they did not help me complete iCloud Keychain setup, other than to guide me through steps that would delete my keychain and force me to start over.)

At some point, you reset your keychain to default in Keychain Access. That caused your login keychain to be renamed.
    Back up all data.
In Keychain Access, delete the login keychain from the keychain list. Choose Delete References when prompted, not Delete References & Files.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    ~/Library/Keychains
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return. A folder will open. Rename the file "login.keychain" in that folder to something like "login-old.keychain". Rename the file "login_renamed_1.keychain" to "login.keychain". You can then close the folder.
    Back in Keychain Access, select
              File ▹ Add Keychain...
from the menu bar. Add back the file now named "login.keychain". If any of your needed keychain items are missing from it, also add back the file you named "login-old.keychain". I suggest you transfer any needed items from that keychain to the login keychain, then delete it. The transfers are made by drag-and-drop in Keychain Access. You'll need to enter your password for each item transferred.

  • How to use SIM card in Droid 2 Global?

So I have a Droid 2 Global because it has SIM card capabilities. I called Verizon to allow international roaming. Then I got the unlock code for my phone. Next I put a new-bought SIM card from China Mobile into my Verizon Droid 2 Global.
However, when someone calls my China Mobile phone number, my phone does not react. The caller hears a prerecorded message that the China Mobile phone number is incorrect or not connected.
When I call with my Droid 2 Global with the China Mobile SIM card inside, the receiving person sees my Verizon phone number.
My question is: How do I get my Droid 2 Global to recognize and use my China Mobile SIM card?
I don't want it to use my Verizon phone number while I am overseas. I like my Verizon service in the U.S., and I plan to return to it.  I just thought the idea of a global phone with a SIM card was to be able to travel to other countries and use another SIM card if need be, and the sales representatives at my local Verizon store sold me this idea of international usage. Other users seem to have no problem. Please inform me of how it works
    Thank you!

Hi mortb, thanks for your input.
However, that is not true about SIM cards. You can find accurate information about SIM cards through your search engine or even Wikipedia. SIM cards are meant to be swapped out. SIM cards are used in Europe and Asia more than the U.S. "The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device" (Wikipedia- SIM cards).
A SIM card holds the prepaid account value, telephone number, the user's address book, call logs, texts, etc. A lot of websites give the analogy: Say your phone is dead but you need to make a call. You can use your friend's cell phone with your SIM card and call. You won't be using your friend's minutes, but your own because you are using the minutes from your SIM card.
In my case, I want to use a local cell phone provider to make local calls. Theoretically speaking, I can do so if I swap out my SIM card for a local network's SIM.
Now Verizon locks all its phones to their Verizon SIM cards, so Verizon phones can only use Verizon SIM cards, but the Droid 2 Global allows you to unlock your SIM, meaning that you are going to put in another SIM card, aka another cell phone service provider.
So I am confused why I cannot use another carrier's SIM card. Can anyone explain why? Or what can I do to sync my China Mobile SIM to my Droid 2 Global?

  • Droid 2 Global Gingerbread User Guide?

Is there a User Guide available for Droid 2 Global with the GIngerbread update?
The info sheet here (http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/system_update/droid_2_global.pdf) shows all sorts of "enhancements" but not how to use them.  For example, how do you set up app groups, and what on earth is "Multi-Touch Key-Chording"?
The link to "Device Manual" (http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/index.html?p=5567&m=)
links to the pre-update (Android 2.2 Froyo) manual.
    Thanks!

DatGyrlVida, if the phone bugs you so much, get a different phone and pay for the change. Your rant and near flaming are not needed here. Your phone frequency problem could be anything, including the junk of apps you probably installed on the Droid interferring with the phone's operations. If you want some assistance on this forum, please describe your phone issues professionally and we can see if we can resolve it together.
And no, I do not work for VerizonWireless.
My experience with my Droid 2 Global is that I had it replaced three times under warranty due to loss of 3G connection, and a reboot could not resolve it. I since then purchased My Backup Pro app to do a complete phone backup, so if I need to replace the phone again (to my SD card or private cloud), I can reimage it. Plus, whenever I install a new app, I do a full backup beforehand so if the app corrupts my phone (or interfers with any phone operation like reception), I can do a reimage on the phone to the previous working state. Uninstalling the offending app does not necessarily remove the junk from its installation. Something for you to consider...

  • Google Voice App show Google voice number when dialing out?

I switched from the iPhone to Android because I can call out of my Android phone and the recipients see my Google Voice number.
Is this possible with Google Voice for the iPhone?
    Thanks,
    Phil

So after exhausting countless hours I just added the App "Google Search".  It's not as great of an interface but I can access Google Voice and keep tabs by just checking in every so often.  Better than not having Google Voice at all.

  • Compatibility of Google Voice in IPhone 4

    Forum members,
Kindly share your experience with Google Voice. Is this compatible with IPhone4. I could not find a app in the ITunes store.
Does the website work - m.google.com/voice work well?
    Thanks

I use Google Voice as my voicemail just fine with my iPhone 4. All you have to do is point your voicemail number to your Google Voice number and you're set.
When someone calls and leaves a voicemail I have the transcript of that voicemail emailed to my Gmail account which pops up on my phone in under a minute after the message is left. You can also have that transcript sent to you in an SMS.
No need for an actual app.

  • Google Voice Won't Work With Bluetooth Headset After Jelly Bean

I am SO frustrated. I had no idea I was installing the Jelly Bean update when I updated the software on my phone. Note to Verizon Communications team: PLEASE do a better job of communicating significant software updates. I would not have installed Jelly Bean. I learned long ago to stick with factory OS on my phones.
Since the update, I noticed that I could no longer dictate texts and emails. Also, my call recording app no longer worked. I switched to Swype and it would work for a few minutes and then stop.  I could still use my bluetooth headset to make calls and S voice worked (although, like others here, I noticed that it's now worse--it doesn't recognize any contact names I request anymore). After trolling Android forums I found that the problem is with the bluetooth headset. You can still dictate when the phone's bluetooth is on, but when a device is connected, all bets are off.
I almost did a factory reset, but then I read that a hard reset will not restore ICS, nor did it resolve this bluetooth Google Voice issue for the few people who tried it already. In fact, resetting caused more problems (eg., more battery drain and removal of Adobe Flash, etc.).
Does anyone know how I can go back to ICS? Bluetooth and Google Voice are the two features I value most in my phones. This is a NIGHTMARE.

    rcschnoor -
The Bluetooth/Voice Search/Dictation issue is a valid issue for the OP, a valid issue for me and oh yeah, the hundreds of other people affected by the, "Google Voice Search stuck on "Initializing" bug filed here on the Google Android Project page.  Here is yet another reference to the same issue from Android Central.
The "Google Music freezing after Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy S3" is also a valid and documented bug located here also on the Google Android Project page.
So I ask, how does sharing with these people that do have these issues, and are affected by them, that you are not experiencing these issues help in any way?  Isn't that the whole purpose of a community forum to help others?

  • Signing up for a new plan with Droid 2 global

I want to sign up for a new plan (I am not a current verizon customer), switching from Tmobile. The problem is that the phone I want is the droid 2 global, which I cant get in stores until the 29th. I could order online, but I wont be at my home for the next few weeks to pick up the phone.
There is a verizon store where I am going, but I will not be able to sign up for the new plan from there (due to some un related reasons that you dont need to worry about)
My main question is, is there a way for me to sign up for verizon's services before monday the 29th, and only pick up the phone from a different store later?

What is the point in signing up for the services before you have the phone?  Your current T-Mobile device will not work with Verizon.  If you have a Verizon phone already, you can call in or go to the store and ask to have the device activated on month-to-month service and port your number over if you wish.  You'll then have service on your Verizon phone, but no contract, leaving you free to sign a contract and get the Droid 2 at the subsidized price when and where you wish.
If you don't have a Verizon phone, you'd just be paying for service you can't use, so why not wait until the Droid 2 is available at the store you want to buy it from?

  • Google Voice not working. Is the blame with enabling Advanced Calling?

Have any Verizon users had more than the usual amount of trouble setting up Google Voice for voicemail? I previously used Google Voice as my voicemail on my Galaxy Note 4, which required the standard workaround to get it working with Verizon (calling the three codes to setup call forwarding). I recently moved to an LG G3, however, and can't get Google Voice to work as my voicemail now. I have tried calling the three forwarding codes (*71+[Google Voice #], *90+[Google Voice #], *92+[Google Voice #]) but to no avail. I have also tried to get it working via setting up conditional call forwarding online in My Verizon.
After trying and retrying these methods, I will call my phone from another one, only to ignore the incoming call and have the phone I'm calling from either continue to ring or go silent (the latter seems to happen more often). If I do not end the call from the other phone, my phone will sometimes ring again, at which time I ignore the call again the line remains silent.
When I first setup my G3, an update enabling Verizon's Advanced Calling was available and didn't hesitate to follow through with the update. Therefore, it's hard pinpoint the exact problem.
Has anyone else with Verizon had this much difficulty in getting Google Voice to work? Please, help!

Same issue.  Google Voice does not work with VoLTE on some people's accounts.  Google says it's not them.  Verizon says it's not them.  There is no fix to this.  The only option you have is either dump Google Voice or dump VoLTE.  I did the later, but you have to do it on the phone and through the webpage and then set up Google Voice again.  From what I can gather from others, call forwarding through VoLTE is not working like it should on all accounts and causing Google Voice not to work.  Verizon is less than helpful on this issue.
