Droid 3 - Gallery

I have my pictures in albums on my SD card.  The Droid 3 will not show the albums in the Gallery App.  All of my pictures are transfered to the phone but they are all separate and mixed up.  Some are duplicated??.  You can manually set up albums on the phone but I would rather have the info that is already on my SD card.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Verizon and Motorola are not able to help.

All my pictures are on my SD card.  In (Droid3) Files -  File Manager - SD card - DCIM --all of the pictures are there in separate folders (Family, Friends, etc., etc.)  If I select a folder, all of the correct pictures are there.
On my old Droid 2, the Gallery would show the same folders.  With the Droid 3, stock Gallery app - My Library - My library: Albums there are two folders: one has all of my videos and the other has all of my pictures.  The pictures are all mixed up and some are duplicated.  It looks like they are grouped by dates.  For instance, one group shows “March, 2000” but the pictures under that date have nothing to do with that date??
In other words, the SD card and the Droid3/DCIM file match.  The Gallery app on the Droid3 is different.
I did a search for “.nomedia” in SD card.   8 files found.  All are 0 KB.  Different dates. If I press on any of the files I get “unable to open this type of file.”  Pressing menu does nothing.
The local Verizon store and Motorola support were unable to figure it out.  I think the phone is so new they don’t really know what it does.  There are some issues with the camera (blue tint with pics and more) that will need a software update to fix.
I can add Albums/Folders on the phone itself and then add the various pictures (can multi-select.)  Way too much work and when I look at my SD card it still shows my old, original albums???
Thanks for your help.

You may also transfer photos using the Media Share option on your phone.  The steps are below.  Hope this helps!
In some instances, an active WiFi connection must be established to share media.
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
    Touch Media Share.
    Touch Start.
To be notified when a connection is available, touch Connection notification (enabled when a green check mark is present).
Touch one of the following options:

  • Gallery Problems for Droid Ally

This is so frustrating!  Every time I open the gallery on my Droid Ally, the app crashes and my phone reboots.  Can anyone offer suggestions?  Thank you!

Step 1 – Try completing a soft reset on the device. I have provided the instruction in an article below:
Power off the device and remove the battery
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=32117
Step 2 – Remove the icon off the devices home screen and clear out the data and cache. I have provided the instruction article below:
Clear data, Clear cache (if applicable), and Clear defaults
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31782(Internet Cache)
    Clear application data
    -Select Menu
    -Select Settings
    -Select Applications
    -Select Manage Applications
    -Select the Gallery icon
-Select Clear data and Clear cache (if available)
Step 3 – Put the device into safe mode. Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications. This is beneficial for troubleshooting 3rd party applications. I have provided the instruction in an article below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=32775
If it works correctly in safe mode, there may be an application not native to the device causing the issue.

  • Droid Update / Gallery/Camera issues

does anyone know what to do about this?? After the update my Droid started freezing when it starts up you have to give it like 30 min. to start and sometimes it restarts itself then it never lets me see the gallery and the camera is fuzzy.  if they gallery eventually loads, it does the report force close thing....what can i do about this?
    Thanks!

Hi.  I understand that you are having issues with your Droid camera and photo gallery and I can certainly help you troubleshoot.   At times, applications does force close if there is a compatibility issue.  You may have an application that is not compatible with the update.   Did you download any applications after the update?  Are you using some type of file manager application to access your gallery?
If no, try to reprogram your phone by dialing *228 option 1 on your phone.
    Waiting on your reply
    Thanks!

  • Droid X Gallery

    Hello,
Can someone please explain to me how the "gallery" works. Why is there a photo roll? What is it's purpose? Why do some pictures go to the "folders" and all other go to "photo roll and all photos?"
I just need some clarification on the gallery please?

Does each of the photos eat up memory, or does it only eat up memory for one of the photos?

The My Tag can be useful for geotaggers, it makes it easy to pull up shots of locations and send to someone instead of opening photos and then have to open properties to verify the image has the location tagged.
I see some of the photos in four of the folders, not in the video folder (which makes sense)  I do have a questions about multiple places for a photo.
Why would you want photos to show in the video folders?  You will have at least two of the same image because of the All Photos folders shows all images and then theres the actual folder the image is contained but they are still only one image, kind of like the universal email box, the emails are not duplicated.
Does each of the photos eat up memory, or does it only eat up memory for one of the photos?
There is only one photo, the others are shortcuts to the image and shouldnt take up any extra space.

  • Droid X - Emailed pictures and they deleted from gallery

    Moved for greater exposure

Just uploading pics to any of the Social Media sites does NOT delete them from the phone..  It may be an issue with the GALLERY App itself.  Try installing "GALLERY 3D" from market (free).  Optionally you can try going into Settings / Applications / Media   --  and click on Clear Cache & Data  ... this does NOT delete your Media on the phone. But when you launch your Gallery App the next time, it will force a rescan of the media on your phone to rebuild its "directory" ...  Lastly, plug your phone into your PC via the USB cable and you should be able to find those pics ... usually in the MEDIA / Pictures directory on the phone.

  • The gallery on my droid razr keeps "unfortunately stopping". Help!  I can't get to my pictures.

Any suggestions on why I am unable to open my photo gallery?  Every time I attempt to look at pics, it says "Unfortunately the gallery has stopped".

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
When the iPad has restarted you could then close the Newsstand app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Newsstand 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Newsstand app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

  • Two Droid 2 Global phones - Flaky since software update

I have two Droid 2 Global phones which were purchased at the same time.  Ever since the last software update, which I believe was the Gingerbread update, these phones have been acting flaky in several ways with various features just shutting down and only a restart of the phone able to make them work again.  Both phones have been having the exact same problems so that leads me to believe it is likely software related.
    1) It quits ringing...even with ringing volume turned all the way up, incoming calls just don't ring. Same with text messages.  Restarting phone fixes the problem.
    2) The camera will take a picture, but when you go to look at it in the gallery, it is just a blank image.  Unless you go look at the gallery, you have no way of knowing the picture didn't take.  Once again, restarting the phone fixes this.
    3)  I have similar issues with the bluetooth.  I sync it up to my car stereo, but sometimes it just won't sync until I restart the phone.
With the age of these phones, I suspect there are no more software updates on the way from Verizon.  Can anyone confirm that?  Unfortunately, the last software update also prevented <Deleted per the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service.>  Any suggestions on how to get these phones some sort of software update or useful again?  A phone that doesn't ring isn't much use.

        Hi jksoft,
I know how troubling these difficulties can be especially when it's happening to two lines of service. I extensively researched this trouble in our database as well as Motorola's and was unable to find this as any known trouble. The gingerbread update was the last release for the Droid 2 and no expected changes as of now.
Are you using the ringtones and notifications that are preloaded in the phone or the ones you have obtained elsewhere? If you haven't tried it yet, please use a notification tone and ringtone that is from the device itself. Let me know if this makes the device work correctly.
The trouble with camera and bluetooth don't have troubleshooting steps other than doing a hard reset of the device. This will completely wipe out the device but items like contacts and media can be backed up. To complete the reset go to http://bit.ly/rqKDhh and follow the steps for the preferred method. Please keep us posted as we may need to file an investigation with Motorola to review this.

  • I have a Droid Bionice, my 1st Smart phone. An install kept coming up ,I did it and everything has changed. I don't knpw what to do...Help...smart phone...dumb person

I bought a Droid Bionic Smart Phone. I loved it so very much. When I was on it and install kept coming up, over & over. I Don't know what it was called but I did look and it didn't say Verizon anywhere but I assumed w/my Lookout security app it wouldn't let anything bad in. But I downloaded it now my icons are different and on my manage apps I use to have only maybe 20 settings now I have a bunch. and the lil icon looks like a blue square app w/the lil cog looking symbol in it. Everytime I try to delete one thinking it will go back to the way it was it says it will cause problems w/all other settings. And also after the icom it says com.motorola.android.deep it says that on about 20 or 25 after the icon.It won't let me disable  any of them.
The very 1st icon on my Apps on ,y Apps setting is the blue symbol that looks like a cog, and it has 32.00KB if I try to disable that because I figure it's the mother of all of them it says in a pop up...Disable built -in app-----If you disable a built in app, other apps may misbehave.? That doesn't sound very professional to me.One even says key chain for the app. I don't know what to do. I did look at it and I assumed when it popped up it was a legit thing. I didnt know you had to beware of something that was a pop up on the page.
I don't know if it's a Gingerbread or Ice Cream thing, I just know when I go to my settings it has overtaken 3/4th of my apps. And on most of them it doesny even offer me the chance or choice to disable it. Please somebody help me. I am so new to this. I loved my phone before now it's taken Over everything. I am scared if I run some of the things I see it says on my settings app it runs my phone,it says for instance:
    Permission
This App can access the following on your phone
    *YOUR LOCATION
    coarse (network-based) location,fine (GPS) location
    *SYSTEM TOOLS
    modify global system settings
    STORAGE
    SYNC SERVICE
I dont know what any of this is and it says if I stop of close any of it , it will cause the app to fail.
How can I tell what I have downloaded as far as this whole montrosity....SO I can study it and read up what to do. I do't want to lodr my pictures or my pictures on my gallery/ I am afraid I have really screwed it up good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I THANK ANYBODY THAT CAN HELP ME IN ADVANCE....

  • Photo gallery lost after 2.2 update

Hi all! I received the 2.2 upgrade for my Moto DROID on 8/16. Everything seemed to be fine until the next day... my photo gallery of about 50 pics were missing!! I installed Astro from the market and I can see the 'files' but can't seem to figure out how to recover them. Found something on a different forum but was being told to "select them all and click delete". I realize I'm a techno-tard, but wouldn't 'deleting them' actually do just that?!  PLEASE, PLEASE! Can anyone help?!
    Thanks!

I have provided some information below that may be helpful in recovering the pictures on your device. You do not want to delete them as this may permanently remove them from the device.
Plug the Motorola Droid into your computer using the USB cable that came with your device. Once it is connected to (both your phone and computer), put it into the Mass Storage mode. I have provided that step in the article below: http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=27198
    2.      Once the Mass Storage mode is enabled, it will create a drive for you to access on your computer.
    3.      The photos should be in the DCIM folder under Camera. (***If they were downloaded images, they would be under the Download folder)
    4.      Try accessing the files on your computer to see if they come up. (***If they do, try pulling them into a file on your computer (to ensure you have them physically). I would also backup anything else on the card that you could possible lose at this point.
    5.      If the files show up, but you cannot view them, I would recommend removing and reinserting the SD card on the device. To complete this step, I have provided the instructions below:
****First unplug the device from the USB cable, and unmount the SD card. Select Menu > SD card & phone storage > Unmount SD card. Then follow the step below
    http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=26488&p=-1
****Once the SD card is out, it may be a good idea to soft reset the device as well. I have provided the article for that below:
    http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=26596&p=-1
Insert the card and try to access the pictures once again. ***If it fails once again, and if you had backed up all of your files, I would recommend reformatting the card. *** This procedure will erase all data on the memory card. It is recommended to back up the data at this point if you have not done so already.
To complete the format, please follow the instruction below:
    http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=26553&p=-1
    I hope this helps!

  • Pictures in gallery won't open after using MediaShare to upload to a PC

I have a Motorola Droid 2 Global, and recently uploaded pictures to the computer using Media Share, and a USB connection. After I did that, in my Gallery, I can see the thumbnails of my photos on my phone, but if I tap the picture to open it, it shows an empty movie reel picture, and I cannot access the picture. If I plug the USB back in, and copy/paste pictures just that way, I can get the pictures on my computer. BUT I just want to have the pictures on my phone, and be able to open them on my phone.
    HELP!

LovebugKZ, thank you for sharing your concerns about your gallery. I would suggest trying a few basic troubleshooting steps first like power cycling the phone, if you haven't already. Next, clear the data/cache from your Gallery. This will not erase any pictures, as they are stored on your SD card.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.

  • Droid X freezes sometimes when I go to look @ pics I have taken

I received my droid on the 16th and for the past week or so when I go to look at a picture I just took or in my gallery the screen turns black. I have fixed it by resetting the phone but it is a pain and definitely not good when friends see it happen. At least not for the phones appeal. Please let me know if you have experienced this. My system is up to date so I already know that is not the issue.

This really isn't so much as a problem but a resource design, since the device saves photos on the SD Card when the photo album has to scan folders for image changes that sometime can take a minute to render the images, especially  if there are a large number of images to scan, some application create a cache file to speed this option up but I am unsure if the default album uses this configuration.  Please remember that the album can not access the cards images when unit is mounted to pc and this causes the application to rescan the card upon dismount to reflect any new files that may have been added during the storage card mounted process.
My suggestion that should cut down on access time is to use the .nomedia fix to hide any images not needed to be shown in album, its preatty simple to do...
    1. Open up a new Notepad through start menu shortcut. Always open a notepad not just create a new Notepad by clicking desktop because it wont work that way.
    2. Leave blank and click File Save As.
    3. Name file".nomedia" (HAVE TO HAVE DOT AT BEGINNING)
    4. Change "Save as Type" as All Files (*.*)
    5. Save File
    6. Now just copy this file to any folders that you want to hide from album, when placed in top folder will hide all images that are also contained in sub folders of the folder.
    7. Reboot... All images you hide are now removed and album (but you can still access the files through any file browsers) and now album will usually load the other images faster that will minimize the lag or freezing during this process.
    Hope this helps.

  • Droid 4 Upgrade Issues

I used to have all my ringtones set to tracks from my music, as well as my morning alarm bell.
Ever since the upgrade - last week - I can no longer do this... it doesn't even give me the option.
I've lost my weather wigit somehow...not a biggie, i downloaded another.
I REALLY don't like the new Gallery App -I take a lot of photos on my phone (for work) and it's now a pain to search for the right folder to find my pics in stead of just clicking on the gallery and having them pop up in order of taking.
Also, the battery looses it's charge WAY faster.
    Any ideas on a fix?

When you say you can't use your music as ringtones ... are you talking about not being able to set an mp3 as a ringtone?  I believe that functionaity was removed from the Razr and Razr Maxx, so I'm assuming it was in the Droid 4 as well.  Bummer, too, 'cause that's a handy feature.  A workaround is to put a copy of the mp3 in your Ringtones folder.  You might try dropping a copy of an mp3 in your Notification folder and see if that will let you use it as an alarm notification.
I don't have any suggestion on the Gallery app 'cause I never used it.
Not sure about the battery issue ... could be an app that isn't playing well with Jelly Bean.

  • Bionic Photo Gallery show friends on facebook photos, How do I turn off?

I just upgraded from the Droid X to the Bionic I liked my X and thought that the widgets would be similar, they weren't. One widget I liked on the X was the photo gallery. On the Bionic it defaults to show my facebook contacts photo uploads. As much as I appreciate my friends photos, I do not want to see them on my phone photo gallery. I would prefer my own pictures instead. I unchecked facebook friends photo update and it still displays them. How can I fix this? Some of my friends are oil field workers and can be quite crude when it comes to the photos they upload.

    rushman64 wrote:
the widget is blank. I would like for my pictures to be there. right noe the only way for me to see my pictures is to go to Camera roll. On my droid X i could see my pictures in a slideshow there.
The widget has a option to select what folder you want to attach to it, try removing it and place it back, it usually ask what folder you want to display it the widget and once you select the one you want this should resolve this..
