Droid DNA Bluetooth Issues

I've tried a couple different BT headsets and have had similar issues with them all. the connections is choppy at best. i can't use any headset to make calls because of the connection and listening to music is tough because it keeps cutting out.
my phone says it's up to date. currently i'm using a Plantronics M55 headset that, from what i've read, doesn't have any connection issues.

Graggk, the following is is not an answer, but a potentially usefull debugging step:  Turn off your WiFi (if you haven't already) and see if the connection improves.  The reason, is that bluetooth shares the 2.4GHz unlicensed radio bands with WiFi -- so they're essentially sharing the spectrum and your WiFi transmitter interfere's with your BT receiver.
There's also a possibility that even if you DNA's WiFi is turned off, there's still so much radio traffic in the 2.4GHz band that you can't get a good BT connection.  To check if this is the case, move away from any WiFi access point and see if the situation improves.
This is all to see if it's a radio thing or a software/driver/bt-compatibility issue.

  • Droid 3 Bluetooth Issues

I am on my second Droid 3, and both displayed the same Bluetooth Issues:
When attached to the cars bluetooth system (2010 Audi A6), all of a sudden, Bluetooth drops.  The call is still active, and the bluetooth indicator on the keypad is still lit.  In order to get the phone to reconnect to the car, I have to power it off and then on.
About one out of every 5 calls with Plantronics Voyager Pro headset, the volume will be very low, both inbound and outbound.  I noticed when that happens, sound is also coming out of the Droid 3 speaker and the Headset at the same time and it seems as if both microphones are working (People can hear me better if I speak into the phone - while my headset is active!).
Sometimes disconnecting bluetooth and reconnecting it (via the dial keypad) cures the issue, other times I have to POPO (power off, power on) the phone.
To make sure it was not my car or my headset, I reactivated my old phone, HTC Touch Pro 2 and never had an issue in 3 days of solid use.
I need bluetooth to work reliably.  I called Verizon Tech Support and beyond swapping out the phone, not much help.
I double checked all of my settings in my car and in the Droid 3's BT menu, all to no avail.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I thought I was leaving reliability issues behind when I got a Droid (instead of windows in HTC Touch Pro 2)
    Thanks in advance.

Hello again. Haven't had time to follow up at the Verizon store yet.  When I was there one of the techs had just purchased a Droid 3 for herself.  We all watched while she opened the box and fired it up, etc.  Straight out of the box it exhibited the same issue.  She and I went over it for a while and exchanged emails & cell numbers.  She was obviously concerned and promised to follow up and let me know.  She follows these forums as well.
A couple of observations..  If the screen is locked with bluetooth on and an incoming call comes in the headset will work fine.  Only when trying to make an outgoing call with the screen locked /off by pressing the headset button for voice commands does the mic fail to activate.  Seems like the handset allows the headset to "wake up" the phone, but something fails to complete in the process.
While at the store we tried the headset on one of the floor demo phones and it worked!  But apparently that phone had an older  version of the software. BTW, my "system version" is 5.5.959.XT862.  Im guessing if the older software didn't have this bug a fix should be relatively easy in a future software update.  PROVIDING they get the message.  I'm kinda new to this and I'm having a hard time posting up on the other forums.
In the meantime the short-term fix is to remember to hit the unlock button on the top of the phone before you hit the call button on your headset.  Only one more button push, but quite a hassle if the phone is buried somewhere in your purse or pocket.  Which sort of defeats the purpose of using the headset while driving to place calls.
It would be interesting to hear if others out there can duplicate this issue..

  • Droid DNA Bluetooth Connection Problems

I just tried my Droid DNA in Safe mode with no change - I opened a case with HTC but they never got back to me.  I have tried 3 different earpieces from two brands (Plantronics & Motorola)  I wish Verizon or HTC would do something about this as I have to us a wired earpiece - HELP?

So still no resolution to this problem with the DNA? And yea I have been through all the steps 3 different phones, 2 known working good headsets, resets, even talked to HTC direct and they sent a new battery cover as that is the antenna and that did not fix anything. People say I am garbled and I can't understand them on my end.
What is Verizon going to do to make good on this? Like a trade offer for a different phone? I know someone is filing a class action lawsuit perhaps Verizon should get ahead of that and do the right thing with a replacement offer.

  • Droid DNA WiFi issues. No wifi over gsm

I just recently upgraded and got a DROID DNA just yesterday. I was told by the sales rep that the DNA can be used internationally over GSM networks. Today when I put in my sim card it the GSM network does come on but it fails to detect WiFi !!! It just says no network available. Please help me out because this is really really important for me!

As well as what you have said about power cycling the Homehub etc have you tried a factory reset of the Homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. This can often sort out wireless problems. You will have to select the wireless channel again after you have done this because it will turn the smart wireless back on.
Do you have any other wireless devices, how do they perform? It could be that your computer is the problem rather than the Homehub. Have you checked the computers wireless network card drivers are up to date via the card manufacturers website rather than Windows.

  • Droid maxx Bluetooth issues.

Anyone one else having this issue.  Bluetooth headset mutes itself randomly during call.  We have done everything possible. Hard reset to new phone sent.  This is driving me insane.  I drive for a living and rely on my headset. My droid bionic never had this issue.  Will the future lollipop take care of this.

Well, sounds like there is a defect in the phone, so it might be eligible for warranty... Unless there may be something with the case you have on the phone, might impede the signal...
EDIT: my bad, now I see that you already got a replacement already

  • Droid 4 Bluetooth Issues

First of all, I was surprised not to find a forum area for Droid 4's. I cannot be the only guy out there with a Droid 4 that has an issue.
I am using Windows 7 Premium Edition on a Dell I5 laptop. I am able to send files via bluetooth from my Droid 4 TO my laptop, but not from my laptop to my Droid 4. When I look at my bluetooth devices, I see my Droid 4 with an exclamation point in a yellow triangle and "needs troubleshooting" for a status. I know that I should have a fully loaded suite of options with this phone, but functionality is limited because of this I suspect.
I need a driver, or suite of drivers and/or software I suspect, but can't find anything anywhere. Could someone recommend a link or more?
I appreciate your time! Thank you!!

  • Who else is having MAJOR issues with their Droid DNA post 4.4 (KitKat) update??

I usually don't complain or post much about my phone because problems are generally quickly fixed, but this update is just ridiculous. After updating to KitKat, my phone has the following problems:
    1. Text Messages - I constantly get text message errors. Always get the error that my message is not able to be sent. I have two problems with this. First, I get the error that the message was not able to be sent, but the recipient tells me they get mass spammed the same message 3+ times. Second, sometimes the recipient does not receive the message and it never goes through.
    2. Network connection - Since the update, my phone usually does NOT have any type of connection whatsoever. The status bar shows I have 3G or 4G, but when I go to the internet app or try to use any form of data, I get the No data connection/no network connection error. Also, many times I am unable to receive/place calls.
    2. Battery Life - significantly reduced battery life. This is not too big a deal because I'm assuming the new Android version takes more battery power. I can stomach this.
Please assist me with this as soon as possible. I'd hate to have to drop Verizon for such a silly issue.

I'm sorrry to hear you're having so many issues with your Droid DNA after your update pl124. I can understand the frustrations you're experiencing but we are here to help. Have you performed any trouble shooting steps with us regarding the issues you're having? Although I'm unable to fix any of the functionality changes caused by the update, I can help with the issues. Are you using a 3rd party messaging app? If so, its always a good idea to temporarily remove it to see if its causing an issue. We also recommend safe mode, which disables all apps and allows you the opportunity to readd them one at a time to see if that particular one is causing an issue. Here are the steps http://vz.to/1g3i9mj .
Additionally, if you're having issues with missed calls and text, we also recommend a SIM card pull to reconnect your phone back to the towers. Just like rebooting a computer down completely and back up. Where are you located (zipcode)? Are issues with calls and text occuring inside or outside our home? There may be an issue in the area. Here are the steps to safe mode http://vz.to/1hRNOb1 .
The great thing is you always have the chance to download apps from the app store to help with personalization for your ringtones, wallpapers, graphics, and minor functionalities. I know its upsetting to have so many changes after personalizing your phone but we hope the software gave you some benefits. If you continue to have problems, a hard reset is the last step that can usually correct minor issues but will also require a complete reset back to factory settings. Keep us posted and let us know if the phone gets better with some of the steps above. We want you to love your phone again and only change devices because you are ready for the latest and greatest and not because of issues.

  • HTC Droid DNA issues after update to 4.2.2 (Software Version 3.06.605.4)

Since updating my HTC Droid DNA to 4.2.2 last month, I have several recurring issues:
The camera crashes (not every time, but often enough that it's VERY annoying) when taking HDR pictures (normal ones are OK)
After a reboot, the keyboard reverts to the Google default, instead of my choice of SwiftKey
On the plus side, battery life appears to be improved.
Is anyone else having these problems?  Any suggestions on how to debug/get them resolved?
      - R

The 4.2.2 OTA update for our phone is garbage. I broke my DNA took it back to best buy once i recived the new one i Stupidly downloaded the update.

  • DROID Charge Bluetooth Sync With Acura TSX (Handsfreelink) issues

I have an Acura TSX 2011 w/Tech Package. I have a lot of trouble with pairing this Samsung Charge with the TSX. I had samsung Omnia Previously and there were no issues with pairing that phone with this car. However, Samsung or Verizon must fix this issue completely for Samsung Droid Charge, or I have to pursue legal channels to obtain compensation. There is no way I am letting verizon or Samsung off the hook.
If I can't use Bluetooth (one of the most basic functions now on any Smartphone) I have to either hold my phone in my hand while driving or use speakerphone (also have to hold that while driving). In Connecticut, it is illegal to drive while on the phone at the same time. If Verizon cannot get this issue fixed, then I have to report this to the Attorney General and seek legal remediation because verizon is legally obligated to provide phone that supports handsfree in Connecticut and that includes Bluetooth.
Hopefully someone at verizon is reading this.
    Good Day!

Ok I do not have a 2010 TSX tech but I tried it in a 2011 TSX tech and guess what! it worked on that one also. I would like to reflect back to when I was all over this forum complaining about my Bluetooth issues. I have a Pioneer navigation system in my car that has bluetooth calling and audio capabilities. When I was swapped out from the Thunderbolt to the Charge I was very disappointed to find that my new Charge would not work on my Pioneer and my Thunderbolt was perfect. I excepted it because I hated the Thunderbolt so much at the time because I just wanted a phone with a good data connection and no rebooting. So after sadly entering my car for weeks on end without being able to use my bluetooth audio I just decided to try it again. This time magically it work and has ever since. The VZW peeps were glad to hear this because it would be one last thing I was jumping down their backs about but I was sadly disappointed that they didn't take an interest as to why weeks later I have a connection. This seems to be the case also with these TSXs because I drove a few and again was angry that they didn't work but today as I go out and try to give you a gleam of hope I find that ( aside from some slightly poor audio quality ) the dang thing is working. So I guess it's up to the Samsung Bluetooth gods to decide if they are going to grant you your Bluetooth wishes. Wish I was more help but it looks like you're either going to have to deal with it, get a different device, or pray for a cure.
ChristinaB_VZW From what I gather from all this is maybe when you send this info to product investigations tell them to try a new device and not one that has been used. Just a thought but even a used one should have the popping crackeling noise coming through. So I guess there are two issues. Thanks G

  • Droid DNA HTC Sim Card Issues Part 2

Droid DNA HTC Sim Card Issues
    Update:
My phone Started the low ringing before I received the new card tray from HTC.  So I went to Verizon and explained the issues and they looked at my account and noticed that I was on my 3rd Sim card.  Wife has the same phone and was having the same issues but on her first SIM card. They replaced both phones... the New SIM card tray arrived and I placed it in my new Replacement phone.... its been 2 weeks and I have not had any SIM card issues..... still Waiting to see what happens if any... no on the other hand my wifes new replacement phone has had SIM card issues with in 4 days.  I will be contacting HTC directly for a new SIM card tray for her phone and here is HTC TECH support # if you would like to get help 1-866-449-8353  Good luck and I hope this clears up problems..... Just remember even though we are all fusterated by our phone problems we still need to go through al the steps to solve the problem before we jump to having VZW just give us a different brand of phone for lemon issues......

  • Droid DNA SIM card issue--I want to be issued a completely different phone.

So as most (if not all) Droid DNA users are aware--there's a BIG problem with the device/software. The updates aren't fixing it like they are supposed to, in fact for me the errors are worse than ever! A simple restart won't even get rid of it so I have to do it 5 times before it finally goes away. I don't want to be issued another Droid DNA that is going to be just the same with the same issue (thats simply a waste of my time and frankly the Droid DNA has already wasted enough of my time already)
I want verizon to issue me a completely different phone, because when I paid for my phone I paid a lot of money for a phone that I thought would work 24/7--but no, this phone is obviously defective. And I DO NOT want to deal with this for another 2 yrs.
SO my question is---I know I'm not the only one out there that feels this way, has anyone talked to verizon about issuing them a completely different phone free of charge or paying the difference (in the event the cost would be more for a particular phone during the 2 yr contract renewal)
(thanks for any feed back, I'm dreading going up to the store and talk to the people who just want your money or will just tell me they will issue me a new Droid DNA, I've seen the other discussions, the phones the people are getting have the same exact problem!!)

So I wanted to give you all an update, I finally decided to do a chat with a verizon online rep--I refuse to go to a store in fear that I might blow up. I guy I talked to was understanding to the issue and told me what I needed to do..do I like what he said? No, but I was at least happy he understood the frustration and actually ACKNOWLEDGED that this is indeed an issue.
This is basically what he said in a nut shell:
    1) Do a factory reset--supposively that will help with the software update
I backed all my pictures/contacts up on goggle+ and all your apps will be in google play (all except my candy crush           extra lives which I thought was odd/conspiracy)
        RESULT: same error times 5.
I expressed my hate in having to do the reset but I'm basically going to have to back all my stuff up anyways if I get           a new phone
    2) Request a replacement phone--because I spoke to him thru the chat our conversation can be saved to my profile so whoever assits me next will be able to pick up where we left off---I find this to be EXTREMEMLY CONVENIENT! (you can also have the convo emailed to yourself for reference)
RESULT: Haven't done this yet but I'm waiting for the chat to become avail so I can request a replacement. But I'm              assuming it will NOT work.
    3) Once they replace the phone and in the event I still get the error I have to contact HTC and they will have to replace my phone, Verizon apparently cannot do anything after that.
I want to say I'm made as all get out but I guess I understand that its a HTC issue and not so much a Verizon                      issue..they are basically just stuck in the middle. Do I agree with having to contact HTC--NO. But at this point I will           do whatever I have to do to get a new phone because I HATE THIS PHONE.
My recommendation--Use the so you can have reference and evidence of the issues and evidence for HTC that you have done everything possible to get this resolved.
(to go to Chat: go to Verizon wireless website>contact us (upper right hand corner)>get in touch>Chat now (if avail)

  • Droid DNA Mobile Data Connectivity Issues

I have the HTC Droid DNA, about 6 weeks old, and for some reason my phone has randomly started to lose connection to mobile data. I've never dropped it or spilled anything on it, so I don't understand why this is happening. I've tried turning my phone off and on again, changing the preffered network to global and back to LTE, and removing and re-inserting the SIM card..but it still randomly happens. My phone can be fine for a week and then it will randomly just disconnect from mobile data again.
My first question is why do I pay for this when I have to sometimes wait for more than an hour for mobile data to come back? My second question is does anybody else with the DNA get this problem? I realize that when you have Wi Fi activated it would automatically disconnect you; however, this isn't related to my issue. I've turned Wi Fi off and that's when I get the mobile data disconnected issue. This HAS to be corrected. I'm not paying over $100 a month for data when I can't even use it when I need to.

I have updated my Droid DNA to the latest KitKat update.  Now the camera doesn't open and says "Unable to start the camera".
has anyone else seen this?  Does anyone know ho to uninstall the update, or fix the issue.  I've tried third party camera apps and they all cant open the camera.
    Thanks for any responses!!!

No it is not covered under the warranty.  I upgrade the phone with Verizon approved upgrade and it breaks my phone and i am told since it is outside of warranty I am out of luck. I have to live with a smart phone with no camera or pay a huge deductible to have my phone insurance cover it.  I just hope I'm not the only one with a camera problem so maybe HTC will provide another update to fix the camera.  Maybe some day I will have use of my camera again

I can't get Droid Turbo bluetooth to work in my 2005 Prius.  Droid Razr worked fine.  It seems to pair OK, and everything works great immediatly after pairing.  After stopping and restarting car there is a message saying it found bluetooth device, I can still place a call with the car system, but no sound or microphone connection to the car system.  Android tech support just said, "yea, that happens."  I have version 4.4.4.  Any ideas?
