Droid Eris 2.1 Update - How long it takes?

I brought 2 ERIS with Andriod 1.5 and I was told that within 2 weeks, over the air they will upgrade to Android 2.1.
But after  3 weeks they have not send any email/update to my phones. I have seen so many old comments about Eris 2.1 upgrade, but when I call verizon (few times) all of the customer service seems surprize and keep asking the same questions and same method.. one on them even rooted my phone, but then too I do not get any over the air upgrade... on my 3rd call one of them told me to talk to HTC... but then HTC people keeping giving us run around .. They are taking advantage of the convoluted mess of having three companies involved being google, HTC and Verizon ..  no one is saying how long it takes to get the update and when we will get it... according to HTC they have updated million phones and still have to update few millions..... but if HTC cannot support this why can't they release this software to verizon or put it on their web-site ... I am guessing they do not want another million customer... if they give this kind of service.... My issue is that we bought our phone from verizon and pay money to verizon so why am i needing to call HTC? because of HTC verizon are losing more customer then they will lose to iPhone ;.... Whether any one has similar exp? 

I totally agree. Do NOT update to 2.1 yet; wait and see if these updates they're pushing out fix all the bugs. From the time I downloaded 2.1 to my Eris (which, till that point, I loved--I had purchased it less than a month before 2.1), I have had nothing but problems. Horribly laggy dialing, force closings on my texting, unable to access my speed dial...the list goes on. Although, surprisingly, not the silent call problem so much; only minor incidences of that. I finally got so frustrated that I de-activated the Eris and went back to using my LG enV, and am waiting till I hear if this new update works to fix all the problems before I reactivate the Eris, which is currently, in effect, an expensive paperweight. I wish I had never updated from 1.5. If this update doesn't work, I'm going back to Verizon and finding some way to get out of my contract. I'm a 12-year customer of theirs, but I'm ready to walk if I can't use this phone; that's how unhappy I am with it after 2.1. So think hard before upgrading your OS!

    I don't know how long migration takes...it's a process frought with potential problems. I strongly suggest a clean install of OSX followed by clean installs of your software if it is at all possible. While it may seem like a pain, it's no worse than the 6 hrs + you have already spent. I think you'll find -most- folks here prefer to not use migration assistant. A short search on migration assistant will show you why.

    Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:

    Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
    Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery.

    The folio you published that is higher than the version of viewer in market. Kindly check the folio version.

    I'm working on a temperature control labview simulation that works with an external temperature device and I have my labview stimulation set up so that I can turn a external light on or off (which is in a chamber) and the temperature is measured inside that chamber and I displayed versus time in the labview x-y graph. I can internally turn the heat source (the light) on or off and see the waveform change. Now the information that is being displayed on the waveform is also being saved to a data file. And I noticed that as soon as I run the stimulation of the circuit on the first input into the labview while loop is from the data file. now the first execution of the simulation will start as soon as the data files sends an input into the while loop and the second execution of the labview loop will happen the next time the data file inputs something into the while loop of labview. Now, by using circuitry inside the while loop, how can I record the actual time of the initial input (into the while loop) along with the time of the second input into the loop so that I can determine how long it take for one execution in labview will take.

    One thing to keep in mind about the Tick Count VI. It uses the ms clock from the CPU which rolls over back to zero after it reaches an upper limit. You might end up getting very large negative values if you subtract the current value from the last value.
    Once every 39 (?) days that can happen but are you sure abou the large negative thing?
    I seem to remember Rolf saying that the math takes care of itself. A quick experiment confirms that memory.

    If you are using Migration Assistant with a WiFi connection expect 12+ hours, 24 hours is possible.
    If you are using hardwired network connections expect 4 to 8 hours.

    I don't know what you mean by "poor battery life". If your iPad is working properly you should get 9-10 hours of life.

    The update should not take more than 5 minutes to download and update.
    I would recommended pressing on the sleep/wake button for a few seconds untill you see the 'slide to shut down' bar. Shut the device down and try again.

    At the end of the 10.5.2 updater, I got amessage telling me the Boot Cache needed to be updated, and that everything would run and then restart when finished. When I went back to the MacBook, the screen was dark, yet the white power light on the font was on.
    I'm not sure if the Boot Cache cleanup is complete or if I am having problems. How long should it take, and is the screen supposed to turn off/go black during the process?

    Thanks for the feedback. Since the restart fixed the problem, I recommend downloading the 10.5.2 COMBO update, installing it to ensure that nothing's broken, and after restarting, launch Disk Utility and repair permissions. Once that's finished, launch Software Update and install everything that's missing, except the Time Machine & Airport combined update which precludes reinstalling the COMBO update.

    Did your's update successfully? How long did you wait. I've been waiting for about 8 hours now with no success, stuck at startup/bootup apple logo and rotating counter.

    Mine only took about six minutes to install. Then the computer went through the two restart cycles that seem to be typical of system updates which took a few minutes. After that, the computer boots "normally". I have not timed it but it does not seem like an inordinate amount of time is required to start up. I would say if it's taking longer than a minute or two to boot, there's something not right.

    I am still waiting to be able to transfer MP3 files to my ZV:M from inside the program with out it converting them to a Motion JPEG.
    Imagine a podcasting program that can't transfer MP3s to the device it was made for. Crazy I know. I don't want to try the sync stuff again. That never worked for me. I just want to click transfer, decide what I want to copy over, and be done with it.
    There are a lot of nice features I would like to see in it, like adding the recently transfered MP3s to a playlist (say, 'New ZENCasts' (which I currently do manualy)). But the simple ability to tell ZENCast Orgainser (I am an Aussie, we spell it with an 's') not convert MP3s to MJPEG, and just copy them over would be great.

    Will there be a way in zencast to transfer an audio cast in it's nati've format into the zen vision:M as it's nati've format, i.e. as an MP3 and not an AVI containing MJPEG?

    I just downloaded the Eris 2.1 update and the new facebook update today.  I have had nothing but trouble since then.  I went to the Verizon store for help and got nowhere.  The facebook widget does not work.  The facebook ap works partway.  I cannot retrieve the newsfeed or profile from the ap.  HELP!

Voice Dialer keeps arbitrarily starting and locking up. 4. When I pull up my APP KILLER, it shows random apps are running... with as many as 8 different apps (many of which I was not nor have not used) are active.  It's no wonder battery is dying so rapidly.
