Droid Eris Touch screen not calibrating

I've had my Eris since December '09.  A few days ago I noticed a significant decrease in the touch screen sensitivity.  Yesterday, I noticed that part of the screen is almost completely unresponsive, unless I held it down for a long time or tapped the screen hard.
Today, when I press the symbol to home, instead, it will select whatever is in the upper left corner, and the same for the lower right corner, selecting the upper right corner instead.
I've tried to recalibrate it, but all I can do is recalibrate the keyboard.  Is there a way, without doing a hard reset, to fix this?

That's most likely a hardware issue--either a component in the screen has failed or is in the process of failing. Your best bet is to bring it into a Verizon store for support--make sure to back up your data ahead of time, as they're required to try a factory reset before giving you a refurb unit. No sense in doing the reset yourself for a hardware issue when they're going to have to do it anyway.
And if you do need a refurb, make sure to ask them to swap your current SD card into the refurb unit, so you don't lose pictures, etc.

I have the droid eris. I got it off a friend and its been working just fine and all of a sudden the touch screen stopped working. i tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and it still doesnt work. i cant slide and unlock nor are any other touch buttons working. any solutions?

    Hello cfarrell856,
Without a touchscreen, you don't have a phone! We need to get your phone fixed quickly! There is an alternate master reset that you can perform without a working touchscreen. I will include a link with the steps. If the reset does not fix the issue, then it's hardware related and you will need to activate another device. Let's hope the reset fixes it!
Click here and follow the "Alternate" method: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=27431

  • Touch Screen Not Calibrated

I am trying to set up my Palm TX and the touch screen is not calibrated correctly.  When I touch an icon on the right side of the screen, it looks as if I'm touching something on the left side of the screen.  This is very frustrating.  I've heard that I might need to do a hard reset on the Palm, but need assistance. Can anyone help me?
    Thnx

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
First I would go into your Preferences on the device. In there click "Touchscreen" then Allign Screen. Tap on the targets the most accurately you can. The target will shift 3-4 times during this process. After the allignment is complete see if you are experiencing the same issue. If so, you may need to hard reset the device.
I hope this is helpful and let me know how it works out.

  • DROID Eris Touch Screen HUGE Malfunction!

My Eris is completely {word filter avoidance} up. The screen freezes ALL the time and not only that but it drags the screen to the left by itself. In texting it always pulls the cursor towards the left of the type box, and on the main screen it drags the screen to the left, then when its all the way to the left it freezes, and when it doesn't freeze it won't let me pull it back right. I'm REALLY getting ticked off about this crap, does ANYONE have any suggestions?

Obviously there is a real issue with the touch screen /software /cursor or whatever regarding the Eris. I’m on my 5th Eris and I am so angry that Verizon keeps giving me refurbished garbage to replace a device I purchased less than a year ago. Shouldn’t we be entitled to a new device right off their shelf? I’m so tired of being inconvenienced and jerked around by Verizon and their service/ devices, my time is continuously wasted listing to technicians and customer service reps spew caned responses to my problems, and I’m tired!
I just want a device that works as advertised –
Something needs to be done about the way corporations are allowed to conduct business in this country. I constantly feel like I’m not getting what I pay for anymore, whether it be a service or a product. We are being robbed, and its legal.

  • New Droid 3 touch screen not reposnding

I just got my new Droid 3 today (I had previously wanted an iphone but a relative got a droid 3 and it was buy one get one free so how could I turn down a free new phone? ....anyway, I was just messing with it tonight and now it's completely frozen.  Nothing happens when I touch the screen.  It started acting funny, not letting me text and the next thing I knew, it completely froze.  Does anyone know a good way to reset the device or any other way I can fix this myself?
    Thanks!

The touch screen on my Droid 3 seem to not work at the margin.  In the Calendar widget, open an event.  Not try to add a notification (green + at bottom right of screen).  No amount of fiddling will open an Add Notification dialog box.
    How does on fix this?
    Good afternoon!
I'm sure I can help determine the root cause of this concern. Clearly, the screen is an important part of this phone. What I recommend doing to narrow down the potential issues, is booting the phone in safe mode. If the issue stops, then it is likely related to an application. In that case, I suggest finding the faulty application or performing a hard reset. This will not only removing harmful applications, but also removes other potential software issues.
    Please advise of your results.
    Thank you!

  • IPad touch screen not calibrated

My iPad's having problems with its touch screen because sometimes when I type with certain keys, it enters the key twice which is very annoying.
I'm actually typing on my iPad now and it's aautocorrect is the only thing that's fixing it right now. It seems like the lower right of my screen is very uncalibrated along with various spots. This also occurs in apps. For example, when I drag my finger across the screen to drag things it goes back to where it was at random intervals. Say I'm dragging an app to the first page, sometimes the app ggoes back to where it was when I'm a about to place it. I've tried resetting and restarting the iPad but it still has this problem. If aautocorrect wasn't on, this message would just aappear aass gibberish due to all of the double letters appearing even though I tap the key once.
This problem appears on every aapp and is on the iPad itself.

Try doing a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help, take the iPad to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check out the screen to see if there is a hardware fault.

  • LaserJet Pr0 200 color MFP M276nw Touch Screen not Working correctly

Hello, I'm having an issue with a LaserJet Pr0 200 color MFP M276nw Touch Screen not Working correctly. I have followed the instructions to reset the printer, but now am unable to select 'English' as my language because every time I select the 'English' option 'Spanish' is selected. I am then given two options to select 'Si' or 'No' both of which can not be selected on the touch screen?
Anybody know of a way round this?

    Hi @dnhowes ,
I see that you are having issues with the touch screen not working correctly. I will do my best to help you.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Was it the Nvram reset back to factory settings that you tried or a hard reset?
Try selecting the option on the display a little higher above the icon to see if that helps. Some touch screens are finicky.
I find that on the Lab printers when I am selecting different menus.
If the issue continues, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836 for further assistance. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Lenovo A1 - Touch screen not working after digitizer replacement

After dropping my tablet and breaking the digitzer, I ordered a replacement digitzer from a company in China. (It took about a month to get it) After watching this video, I was able to install my new digitizer and it finally looked new again....well at least the screen!
But.....when I powered up my tablet, the touch screen wasn't working..... I emailed back and forth with the company and they told me to install drive program, and send me a link to a site with a video, this site may have contained more than the video, but it was all in Chinese and I couldn't figure it out even with Google Translate. So I started researching. I thought I would try and load ICS on it, I thought, "Whats the worst thing that could happen?" it wasn't much more than a brick at this point anyways.
I found this website that let me through installing ICS on it. I had absolutly no expectations...but IT WORKED!!!! MY TOUCH SCREEN IS NOW WORKING!!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
When I was researching for this problem, there was absolutly no posts anywhere for "Touch screen not working after new digitizer". So I wanted to share my experience.

Yea you are correct.....it must be a hardware problem. You must contact service centre of Lenovo and get help from there.

  • 8500 All in One - touch screen not working

One minute the touch screen with all it's functions was working fine and then, bam (!), the touch screen stopped working and I can't even use the one/off switch to power the unit off - it does not respond.  Funny thing is that the printer is still working from my computer so I can still send a print job via the wireless.   With the touch screen not working I can't use any function from the unit itself (copy a hard copy, fax a hard copy) and if the unit runs out of paper I have to unplug it to reboot since I can't hit the 'enter' on the touch screen once I've reloaded.
Bottom line --- nothing from the unit itself works.  Has a printer fairy locked me out or does this sound like a hardware error?  Thanks for any help ...
    Linda T

Excellent.  Let me know how round 2 treats you.  The sad demise could have been due to a couple of things...as a side question, is the climate where you live especially dry right now?  I may request that our testers recheck how well we handle a static shock on the product if it is dry where you live.
