Droid Eris won't activate?

I just bought a Droid Eris off of ebay with a clean ESN. I was able to successfully activate it online, but then I call *228 and it activates. Then I try to make an actual call and it tells me my "mobile number is either not active or invalid." Why?

You might want to call vzw tech support on that one, just to make sure everything is in order.

Droid Incredible Won't Activate

I've been trying to switch my phone from a Droid 2 to a Droid Incredible while in Extended Network. When I go to call *228, a US cellular message comes up and then "Programming Unsuccessful". Now I don't have service on either of my phones. How do I go about this?

Verizon Wireless phones won't activate in an extended coverage area. You need to go to a native Verizon Wireless coverage area to activate the phone.
You might be able to activate it manually, but you would need the assistance of customer service on another phone or someone who is knowledgeable about the manual programming method. budone

Droid X won't activate

A couple of hours ago, my girlfriend tried sending me a few text messages, and none went through. I had Handcent installed, cleared it's cache, restarted, pulled battery, restarted, uninstalled Handcent, restarted, used the native SMS application to send txts to multiple persons (some on VZW, some not), nothing would be sent or received. Eventually got frustrated, and wipe my phone. Now it fails to activate, update or anything else. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I even logged on to VZW's website via my laptop, and it won't retrieve ANY information other than my name.

New Droid MAXX won't activate

I've tried activating all over town and it keeps failing. This is to replace an existing device. Is this a pervasive problem since they have just been released? I can't seem to get any support.

I am having the same problem. After terrible support after I went to purchase the phone (you would not believe how hard it was to get to be able to organize the ordering of $299 phone--spent at least 1.5 hours already on the phone trying to make sure the purchase was completed), now this.
After following the procedure (backup contacts, switch off old phone, call 800# to activate new phone, turn on new phone) and activating 4-5 times with no success, I tried the online activation. This said it was successful, but again tried activating 4-5 times with no success. Error message varied between telling me to call the 800 number to activate and saying the signal was poor.
I went online and got chat support from a Verizon rep. I was told by the rep I chatted with that I had to call in and speak with a specialized rep to activate my phone. But, of course, they are not open because I live on the west coast and support ends early evening. I am ready to return this phone and cancel my Verizon service, which I even upgraded when I bought the phone. I am embarrassed to be a Verizon customer--the company should be ashamed of the way it has behaved throughout this process. Final straw was the attitude of the rep who assisted via chat, kept finishing sentences with a "!" as though I should be excited to wait 8 hours to activate my phone. APPALLING.

I installed Firefox for Mobile on my HTC Droid Eris but it won't work. Why?

I have an HTC Droid Eris and it runs the Android 2.0 operating system. When I attempt to open it I receive a message that says: "This device does not meet the minimum system requirements for Firefox".
The website states: "Firefox 4 Beta is available for Android 2.0 or higher" so I do not understand why it won't work on my phone.

Facebook won't download on droid eris replacement phone

I just received a replacement phone yesterday for my Droid Eris. As I was getting things set-up, I tried to install/update the Facebook app. It goes through the whole process and then says Installation Unsuccessful. So when I click on that, it says Insufficient Storage Available. But, 1. it's a new phone and 2. when I check the storage on the phone, I have more than enough. Therefore, whenever I try to log-in on the widget, it won't let me and pops up saying An Error Had Occurred During the Sign-In. Please Try Again Later. I know my log id and password are correct because I can log-in through the browser. Any suggestions or help??????

I understand how important it is to stay connected with friends and family, and Facebook makes it that much easier. I'm here to help.
One thing you can try is clearing out the cache memory on the device for the Facebook app. Go to setting > Applications > Manage Applications > look for the Facebook app and select the clear cache option.
If clearing the cache doesn't help then try removing the Facebook app and re-downloading it.

Phone won't activate

Three TS people and a total of six hours with a phone pressed to my ear later and my iPhone won't activate. It says no service where I'm assuming there should be antenna bars. TS obviously has no clue, as two people said they would call me back yesterday and haven't. The last person I spoke with had me re-download iOS 5 from iTunes. The phone walked through the screens, like i was on the right track, but it just will not activate. It stays on the "this may take a while" screen and then says it won't connect. No way to dial *228 either.
Any clues before I call it quits with Verizon? If I needed a new phone they should have overnighted it to me so I had it today. This isn't like my Droid when it was brand new to everyone. Doesn't Verizon have any experienced people yet to deal with iPhones?

Yes I did, Susan. Numerous times, but with "no service" in the corner, the phone could not place the call.
I had a *spare* couple hours this morning, so called Verizon's TS again.
This TS person said she was surprised the phone wasn't pronounced DOA yesterday after she reviewed all that was done to it. She offered to replace the phone and I would have a new one on Monday she said, as they don't ship on Saturday's and could not do an overnight thing, not even to one of their stores. That burned me after hearing the phone should have been pronounced DOA yesterday. By the time she switched me over to the person I had to speak with to get the replacement ordered though, Monday had changed to Friday... the end of next week! Apparently TS was wrong yet again and I should not have been told Monday. My head was ready to pop after being told this. It might not be Verizon's fault the phone arrived DOA, but it is their fault the three people I spoke with yesterday didn't issue me a new phone in a timely manner. And kept telling me they would call me back and didn't.
I am checking out At&t's plans right now. I was with them before I made the move to get a Droid and really had no beef with them. Life is too short to be dealing with Verizon.

Droid Eris touch screen not working

I have the droid eris. I got it off a friend and its been working just fine and all of a sudden the touch screen stopped working. i tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and it still doesnt work. i cant slide and unlock nor are any other touch buttons working. any solutions?

Without a touchscreen, you don't have a phone! We need to get your phone fixed quickly! There is an alternate master reset that you can perform without a working touchscreen. I will include a link with the steps. If the reset does not fix the issue, then it's hardware related and you will need to activate another device. Let's hope the reset fixes it!

Droid Eris Text Messaging

Installed Handcent SMS text messaging on my Droid Eris. It works fine but now I receive two messages. One on Handcent SMS and one on the standard Droid Eris operating system. How can I receive only the Handcent SMS message? Is there away to stop the other notification? Thanks

Go into your stock messaging app, hit menu>settings, and turn off notifications. All your messages will actually still show up in the stock app, but at least it won't bother you about it. Also, pick any contact from your contact list, long press on the contact, choose send message and an option will pop up asking which app you would like to use. Check use by default box then choose Handcent (you don't actually have to send them a message, but this is one more step to stop your stock app from trying to start up.)

Droid Eris sucks

Does anyone else have problems with the Droid Eris? This phone is so terrible. Apps shut down for no reason. Trying to dial numbers is a pain, because of the lag. This phone is horrible. The IPhone is so much better. It sucks I have to wait until 1/26/2012 before I can upgrade, Verizon should let me upgrade now, because of how awful this phone is. Currently I am not even using the phone, I am using Google voice on my computer (its free). If they don't let me upgrade for free,I am just going to do an early terminiation. I can't believe how horrible this phone is. The Eris sucks! ahh feels good to vent. #$@# the Eris.

Have you tried any troubleshooting? Numerous people have reported issues like you describe with the Eris after receiving a software update, and many of those same folks reported that many of the issues were resolved when they did a factory reset on the phone to clear any data and applications. Starting over fresh allows you to install apps one at a time, and may resolve any conflicts, or at least help you identify any problem apps and remove them.
If you call Verizon's 1-800 number, and choose option 3, you will be connected with tech support and they may have other suggestions for you as well. If they can't resolve your issue, and you have insurance, you could file with Assurion for a replacement device since yours doesn't work.
Finally, you do have the option to activate a different phone on your line at any time. You can contact Verizon and ask about purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned phone at a reduced cost, or buy a new phone from them at full retail prior to your upgrade date. You could also look for a used phone from another source and use that until you upgrade becomes available.
If another carrier has the phone and service you want at the price you want, then you should definitely consider paying the ETF and moving to that provider. Verizon does not meet everyone's needs by any stretch of the imagination.

My Eris won't start up anymore due to some internal virus or something. Since verizon doesnt hold droid eris's anymore, would I get an incredible instead through the warranty?

If you have a virus,you can actually over come that.Just wipe out everything in the phone. Back up the most important stuff you have (pics,video,texts..etc). Also you can download the free app called Lookout. That'll scan for virus. Warranty will send you a refurbished device. My guess would be that you would get the motorola droid.

Droid Eris - Sense UI Crashing Frequently + No Email Notifications w/o Refresh

My wife and I each have a Droid Eris; both phones have been upgraded to 2.1 and have both received the latest OTA update.
1. My wife's and my phones each have problems with the Sense UI crashing very frequently. At first it seemed like only the Dolphin Browser (the original on my wife's phone, Dolphin HD on mine) was causing this to happen, though lately it seems like the camera app is crashing Sense on my wife's phone and Twidroyd occasionally and the MLB At Bat App often are crashing it on mine. These are all apps we either frequently use or have paid for (in the case of the MLB app), and we aren't likely to stop using them unless we can definitely be sure they are causing the crashes.
Neither of us run task killer apps; the other day, I redid my "Scenes" to get rid of all widgets but two (the Clock/Weather widget and the HTC battery widget) to see if the widgets might be a cause of the crashes, only to have it crashed with the MLB app open. (Ok, so there's a definite correlation here... but is it caused by it?) Anyone else having these problems, and does anyone have any suggestions?
2. My Gmail app has stopped notifying me about incoming emails. It will flash a notification if I open the Gmail app and hit "Refresh"... The counter may even note there is new mail "Inbox (1)", but neither the new message nor the notification will show. This is a minor problem, though I don't understand why it's happening. It does seem like the option for setting the frequency of checking your email has disappeared from the menu in Gmail. This is only happening on my phone; my wife's phone does just fine. I could try enabling "Auto-sync", but this seems like it would take up too much battery. Is that the only way for Gmail to regularly (1) check and (2) notify you of incoming mail?

Some apps that use a lot of memory can cause sense to shut down. If the phone needs memory allocated to an app, it may shut down things that aren't currently in use. A while back, I had downloaded the spare parts app and set the app management to aggressive. When I would open any app, sense would have to reload.
As far as gmail goes, if you inadvertently killed gtalk (which I have also done) then your mail won't get pushed to you. I'm assuming the system could do this while running a high drain app as well. The only solution I know for this is a reboot.

iMessage and FaceTime went down yesterday for some people. Mine is still down. My iMessage is saying the same thing about being activated. Sounds like you are still down too. Ignore the status page that says everything is fine - it lies.

Even after resetting apple id password still won't activate my phone

I did a reset erase all contents and settings but i'm stuck at activation lock! The iphone is mine and email is correct but even after i reset my password, IT STILL WON'T ACCEPT THE NEW PASSWORD :(( please help! Thank you.

But when i sign in my icloud account on the activation lock, it still won't accept it. Even if i tried resetting my password. I believe that i use the right icloud account but still it won't activate it. I tried locating my device on find my iphone and the device was not there, does it mean my device has already been erased?(i resetted all content and settings) but why does it still have an activation lock after reset? Tried everything but still no luck :( reset apple id or password but still nothing :(
