Droid Global and Corporate Sync account - message deletion

This applies to Corporate Sync accounts only! Not IMAP or POP accounts, please.
I've read the many threads on this board regarding syncing emails with a Exchange Server. It seems that on my brand new Droid Global, when I delete an email on the phone, it deletes the email also on the server, and so also on my main office PC. 
That is, of course, not what I intend to do.
I'm just trying to keep the inbox on my phone clean and simple. I don't actually want to delete the emails on the server. I receive anywhere from 40-50 emails a day, and don't want them on my phone!!
There seems to be a fair amount of confusion going on. Some claim that they are unable to delete messages on the server. Others, like me, don't want this, and want to manage our main exchange account on our office PCs.
Is there any setting I am missing to "delete from device" only, leaving the message in my Exchange account in-box?
If not, this is a pretty serious problem for the many corporate users who might want to switch from their blackberry to Droid. Something Verizon and Motorola MUST address very soon if they intend to offer competition to the iPhone or Blackberry.

That's understandable, and much thanks for the clear explanation. 
Blackberry, of course, also "sync's" but gives the option for those who prefer more control over their email. Hopefully this is a feature that Verizon/Motorola can work on for the next software update, as it is rather critical.
Still strange, IMO, since this feature is built in on my POP account. hmmm?
I noticed that the setting you mention (how much mail to keep on the phone) doesn't always work, though. Until this morning, I had all my Tuesday (Jan 4) emails still on the phone, despite my having the phone set to only keep 1 day sync'd - - so its obviously a little buggy, too.
In any case, I guess I'll have to learn to live with it - Update, hopefully, coming soon

    I do not remember what was the e-mail I used to sign in to this skype account but I do know it's quite old and the related account has probably already been deleted by me since I've changed my e-mail accounts a lot of times in the past two years.  I only know my skype name. The e-mail account related is most likely a gmail account I've already deleted.  I doubt I used this skype account frequently by the time or at all, so there are probably no contacts or very few (like 1 or 2). Still, I'd very much like to retrive this account, even if just for deleting it so that it doesn't get people confused as to which is my current account (both names are very similar).

  • Installed firefox on two machines and created sync account on one. The other one does not sync

    I just freshly installed the latest Firefox on two machines. Created a new account on one of them and started to download some add-ons and changed the preferences, then got to the other and signed in. It finished syncing but none of my changes were applied to the second machine.

    Right now the add-ons got synced but the customization I did to the looks of it did not.
    These customizations are: moving the home button right next to the back button and removing the search bar.
    Conclusion: it takes a while(about an hour!!!!!) to sync these stuff, at least that is what happened with me though my connection was normal and not slow at all.

        Hi Imbabwa,  I apologize for delay as I understand this is a time sensitive matter!  It sounds like Call Restrictions might have been accidentally setup.  Try checking Menu>Settings>Location & security>Setup restriction lock>Uncheck Enable restriction lock.  Please keep me posted on the status as it would be my pleasure to provide additional assistance.

  • Corporate Sync now only allows 1 day after Gingerbread update

    The title pretty much says it.  I had a Droid2 which was acting funky, and which would fail when I tried to update it to Gingerbread, so Verizon (kudos to them) sent me a "like-new" replacement Droid2 even though my warranty had just expired.
    When I got the new phone, I immediately updated it to Gingerbread (successfully).  Then I went about setting everything up.  I had been using a Corporate Sync account on my old phone with my employer's Outlook (Microsoft exchange) to have all my work email on my phone.  The setup went fine, as it did on the old Froyo phone.  But, when I went to change the setting to have it sync all my email, the dropdown box only gives me the choice of "1 day".  It should be something like "1 day, 3 days, ... 30 days, all".
    I deleted the account and set it back up, and still the same thing. 
    For those who don't know, you go to Messaging, click the settings button (the little four boxes on the bottom of the display), Manage Accounts, pick the Corporate Sync account, and scroll down to "Sync Messages for:" and you should be able to pick different lengths of time.
    Anyone else experience this or know how to fix it?

    Same problem here. com.motorola.contacts.data eating my battery alive; have to turn off data services to get my battery to last through the night. Also seems to have spawned some process called *wifi* (in addition to the existing process called Wi-Fi) that adds to the consumption.
    None of those incredibly active types ever answered you? Bummer: so much for the crowdsourcing paradigm, I guess.

  • Corporate sync issues

    Greetings - am having issues with corporate sync with Outlook using 2003 server.  On initial set up the calendar synced with the phone, but none of the new items I entered at work are showing up on the phone.  The emails push to the phone but not the rest. 
    Also - is there a fix for the email and not being able to search or mark all as unread issue.  If not what other mail apps would you recommend that have this feature.  I am starting to feel like this phone is a ton of hype an that's about it.  Miss my blackberry!

    Try changing your corporate email settings.  The steps are below. Hope this helps!
    If you need to adjust email frequency, notification ringtones, text size, signatures:
    Open Applications tray
    Tap on Email application  
    Your Default email account will be displayed.  (this is adjustable in email settings menu)
    Press Menu key 
    Select Email settings:         
    Email settings menu will be displayed:      
    If you are not within your Corporate account, select Default email account and select the name of your Corporate sync account. Close email application and re-open to view corporate account. 
    Touch Notifications to bring up Notifications option menu:
    Adjust notifications appearing in the status bar: Turn on (Checked) or turn off (Unchecked).
    Tap Vibrate to activate vibrate mode when you receive notifications from this email account.
    Touch Email delivery to change the frequency that emails is pulled to the device (Selections: Data push, Fetch schedule, or select to sync over WiFi only.
    Touch Compose options to change font style & size for your email account text and signature
    Touch Default Account to select account that is displayed and controlled when you select email application. You can adjust this to different account at any time. You will need to close email application and re-start for the different account to load.
    Touch Multiselect always on to enable you to select multiple emails within default account for various actions.
    If you need to change account setup details such as account name, server name password, what features are sync'd, how long to sync messages:
    Open up My Accounts application from application tray. 
    Select the Corporate Sync account you wish to modify.
    Your Corporate exchange account settings will be displayed
    Touch inside Username box to change username
    Touch inside Password box to change password
    Touch Calendar to enable (Checked) or disable (Unchecked) synching calendar from this account
    Touch Contacts to enable (Checked) or disable (Unchecked) synching contacts from this account
    Touch Email to enable (Checked) or disable (Unchecked) synching email from this account
    Touch inside Email address box to change your email address on this account.
    Touch inside Server box to change your server location for this account.
    Touch inside Account name box to change your Account name used on this handset for this account.
    Touch Use secure connection to enable (Checked) or disable (Unchecked) SSL security for this account
    Touch Verify Certificate to enable (Checked) or disable (Unchecked) certificate use with this account
    Click on arrow underneath "Sync messages for" to select how far back you will sync messages from your corporate exchange account. (1 day, 3days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, All)
    Select Remove account to remove this Corporate Exchange account from the handset.

  • Deleted my firefox sync account and now can't get back in.

    I recently upgraded to firefox 12 which appeared to break my firefox sync and would not allow me to re-pair my PC or any other devices to my account. In order to try fix the problem, I decided to delete my account. Having done this, I created a new sync account from firefox on my PC using the same email address as I had used in my previously deleted sync account.
    This appeared to work alright and so I tried to pair my iPhone (using firefox home) to this new sync account. I used the passcode firefox home gave me and according to firefox on my PC, the sync was successful. However, a minute late, my iPhone came up with the error message "Login Failure: Unable to communicate with server (503)".
    I then tried to log in to the firefox sync website with my email address, (https://account.services.mozilla.com/), and got the message "We were unable to log you in". I then clicked on the Forget your password link and entered my email address and got another error message "Unable to locate account. Please check username"!
    It would appear that deleting my account and creating a new one with the same email address has stuff everything up? I don't want to have to use a different email address.

    Yes, I was thinking it could have just been a glitch in the system.

    Me too...this is stupid, stupid, stupid. Just purchased my 200 (ish) mac and now I am told that my new Mac Book pro is not "authorized".
    Which if my 200 macs are authorized. Can someone please tell me???
    I "deauthorized" my old MBP and still told I cannot use my iPhone with iTunes.
    Interesting that my old $2500 MBP, my new $3000 MBP and my $500 iPhone all cannot work cuz of some pinhead's decision to use this assorization process.

    OK. I will work backwards.
    You certainly don't want to have to delete apps every time that they need an update, for any number of reasons. Losing data first and foremost would be a drag, but the overall hassle would be absurd. All things being equal, you should be able to update apps in the future after you delete them and reinstall them. I delete and reinstall apps all the time and I am also able to update them when updates are available for the apps. I just wanted to know if you had any success in any fashion installing apps.
    Resyncing/refreshing the Apple ID/iTunes account wouldn't seem to be the issue either if you can download apps or other content from the iStores. Your ID is being accepted.
    That leaves us with I'm not sure what. But I think I would try this trick fix and see if it helps.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.

    Providing your Apple ID is not a .me or a .Mac address, you can change it with Apple and continue to use your account.
    Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
    Once who have done this you can then correct it on your mobile device.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    If however, your Apple ID was a .me or a .Mac address, then you will need to create a new account, follow the instructions above for deleting your account on your mobile device and then tap the "create Apple ID" button to create a new account.

    Iphone will sync with one and only one cpomptuer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.  This is the design of the  iphone.
    It will erase the content when you sync.
    Why not update from the comptuer with which you normally sync?

    Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
    If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically  Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.
