DROID GLOBAL PHONE ?

hello all you droid experts. i went to the lake and caught some fish this weekend. i took some short  videos with my phone. now when i try to email the video or "Share" the video, it says that the file is too big. it doesn't ask me if i want to shrink the file so i can send it so......can i shrink the file and send it in an email? thanks in advance.

Thanks Ann154 for that feedback and suggestion!
Deerhunter1, I can understand how frustrating that is.  I just recently experienced that exact same issue!  It was because the video file was too large for me to send either by MMS (picture/video message), or by email.  You may be able to send to another device via Bluetooth, giving your device gives you that option.  You can also hard wire sync the file to your computer using your USB cable.  The subject line says your device is a droid global phone.  Below I am including a link for transferring picture & video files from a Droid 2 Global phone to a computer.  The link will actually be for transferring music files, however, the concept is the same.
Transfer Music Files - Motorola Droid 2 Global (A956)
Let me know how this works!

  • Two Droid 2 Global phones - Flaky since software update

I have two Droid 2 Global phones which were purchased at the same time.  Ever since the last software update, which I believe was the Gingerbread update, these phones have been acting flaky in several ways with various features just shutting down and only a restart of the phone able to make them work again.  Both phones have been having the exact same problems so that leads me to believe it is likely software related.
    1) It quits ringing...even with ringing volume turned all the way up, incoming calls just don't ring. Same with text messages.  Restarting phone fixes the problem.
    2) The camera will take a picture, but when you go to look at it in the gallery, it is just a blank image.  Unless you go look at the gallery, you have no way of knowing the picture didn't take.  Once again, restarting the phone fixes this.
    3)  I have similar issues with the bluetooth.  I sync it up to my car stereo, but sometimes it just won't sync until I restart the phone.
With the age of these phones, I suspect there are no more software updates on the way from Verizon.  Can anyone confirm that?  Unfortunately, the last software update also prevented <Deleted per the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service.>  Any suggestions on how to get these phones some sort of software update or useful again?  A phone that doesn't ring isn't much use.

        Hi jksoft,
I know how troubling these difficulties can be especially when it's happening to two lines of service. I extensively researched this trouble in our database as well as Motorola's and was unable to find this as any known trouble. The gingerbread update was the last release for the Droid 2 and no expected changes as of now.
Are you using the ringtones and notifications that are preloaded in the phone or the ones you have obtained elsewhere? If you haven't tried it yet, please use a notification tone and ringtone that is from the device itself. Let me know if this makes the device work correctly.
The trouble with camera and bluetooth don't have troubleshooting steps other than doing a hard reset of the device. This will completely wipe out the device but items like contacts and media can be backed up. To complete the reset go to http://bit.ly/rqKDhh and follow the steps for the preferred method. Please keep us posted as we may need to file an investigation with Motorola to review this.

  • Droid Global and Corporate Sync account - message deletion

This applies to Corporate Sync accounts only! Not IMAP or POP accounts, please.
I've read the many threads on this board regarding syncing emails with a Exchange Server. It seems that on my brand new Droid Global, when I delete an email on the phone, it deletes the email also on the server, and so also on my main office PC.
That is, of course, not what I intend to do.
I'm just trying to keep the inbox on my phone clean and simple. I don't actually want to delete the emails on the server. I receive anywhere from 40-50 emails a day, and don't want them on my phone!!
There seems to be a fair amount of confusion going on. Some claim that they are unable to delete messages on the server. Others, like me, don't want this, and want to manage our main exchange account on our office PCs.
Is there any setting I am missing to "delete from device" only, leaving the message in my Exchange account in-box?
If not, this is a pretty serious problem for the many corporate users who might want to switch from their blackberry to Droid. Something Verizon and Motorola MUST address very soon if they intend to offer competition to the iPhone or Blackberry.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

That's understandable, and much thanks for the clear explanation.
Blackberry, of course, also "sync's" but gives the option for those who prefer more control over their email. Hopefully this is a feature that Verizon/Motorola can work on for the next software update, as it is rather critical.
Still strange, IMO, since this feature is built in on my POP account. hmmm?
I noticed that the setting you mention (how much mail to keep on the phone) doesn't always work, though. Until this morning, I had all my Tuesday (Jan 4) emails still on the phone, despite my having the phone set to only keep 1 day sync'd - - so its obviously a little buggy, too.
In any case, I guess I'll have to learn to live with it - Update, hopefully, coming soon

  • Droid Global in St. Martin

Going to St. Martin in a couple of days with my Motorola Droid Global Black which I purchased specifically for overseas travel.  When I was in St. Martin previously, I had to rent two cell phones since part of the island is French controlled and the other is Dutch controlled  -- each operating separate telephone systems.  Question:  Can I use my phone there?  How do I switch from the US system to their's.  I have never done this before, but paid a nice sum for this phone.  Please advise ASAP!  Thank you.

I hope you have a great trip.  You can certainly use the phone inSt. Martin.  I included a link here with all you need to from dialing to coverage inSt. Martin.  Have a safe trip!  Thank you.

  • So, why no droid type phones without a camera?

So, now we are into year four of my asking why VZW does not want to capture a decent market share and start offering a droid-style phone without a camera?
Like many  people working in certain fields, I like having the features of a smartphone, but I am stuck with a Blackberry because I can not have a camera.
Now, before some genius starts up with how to modify a smartphone- the requirement is to not have a camera; not a disabled or removed camera, a phone made without a camera.
Yes, there is a large population of people that would love any smartphone other than a BB- IF they could find one without a camera. We are talking 4000 plus just where I work, several thousand more down the road.
I have worked in a manufacturing environment before too- a line that does not install a camera, uses a solid cover plate, and loads operating software without camera apps is not a huge task to set up, especially when you consider the DoD, Scientific, Trade, Medical, Mental Health, Research, Legal, Law Enforcement, and Education workers that can not have camera-phones.
On the same subject, why have all non-camera phones (not just smartphones, but all) been removed from my local Verizon store? It is in a location where several facilities that forbid camera phones could be hit with a thrown rock- do you just dislike your store workers that bad?

Try to take this without being upset. Who asked for your opinion?
RIM does make a non-camera Blackberry, several other companies make non-camera phones.
There is a fairly large market of people that work in areas where it is a JOB LOSING OFFENSE to have a camera phone.
You knowing "..plenty of people in the field..." is so much nightsoil of the male bovine. The people I work with would rather not lose their jobs (as about six [new] people did last year).
I don't see you as a VZW employee on your profile- if you are, I pity them for hiring someone who just makes uninformed comments. I don't need opinions from the peanut gallery; I want a direct and straightforward answer from verizon.

  • As I bought my iPhone 5 16GB,White in the USA from Sprint, full price with tax, unlocked ,it was excepted to be a global phone. But now I come across with some problems in Chinausing local carrier, everything is working properly except sending text message

    Dear AppleCare,
As I bought my iPhone 5 16GB,White in the USA from Sprint, full price with tax, unlocked ,it was excepted to be a global phone. But now I come across with some problems in Chinausing local carrier, everything is working properly except sending text message, and iMessage and Facetime also seem not to work. This is very serious for Apple and me! Will I have the chance to fix this?
I tried all the possible solutions from the Internet, and the Official solution offered by Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4459), but it doesn't seem to work.
Will Apple help me with this issue? Please do.

I had the same problem.  Kept getting message of waiting for activation or check network connections.  I also tried every solution out there and nothing worked.  This did though:  I download the newest version of itunes (through Internet Explorer - Google Chrome wouldn't work).  It pulled in my entire library thank goodness and then I plugged my iphone 4s into the computer.  I let itunes find it, did a complete backup in icloud, then did a restore.  Entire process took a couple of hours, but I now have imessage and facetime back.  I was about ready to give up on Apple and go get a different phone ~

Yes, the iPhone 5S is a global phone. However, Sprint will only unlock phones for use on GSM networks outside of the U.S. In the U.S., that phone can only be used on Sprint's network.

  • Global phone plan

I'm studying abroad in London and I have a blackberry storm 2 9550. I took the verizon SIM card out of my phone and got a pay as you go SIM from vodafone. The service is terrible and even though I pay for blackberry services, I'm unable to use any of the services like email, bbm, or apps.
If i purchased the verizon global phone plan with data to use for the next two months, will I still be able to use all of my blackberry services? (Email, BBM, applications like facebook and whatsapp) On the vodafone network, I cannot, so I'm thinking about just purchasing the global phone plan. I rarely call or SMS when I'm over here. I would use my phone mainly for email and BBM and apps.
I'm already an addition to a family share plan so would the global phone plan be an add-on charge to my line or would I have to go on a completely different plan than my family?
It says it would be about $30 per month for 50MB of data plus calls/texts per minute/text. Does that mean I would pay $30 for the 50MB of data and if I went over 50MB, I'd have to pay additional costs?
If someone could help me out as soon as possible, that would be great.

The BBM will really only work on the VZW Global Services SIM card + roaming...
If you inserted a domestic Vodafone SIM card that should work as you saw without unlocking but maybe the phone isn't designed that way and that's why you have service degredation.
Technically it can all be fixed by doing a software/re-programming update on the BB by updating the firmware/software on the 9550 from vzw.com/blackberry.com + reconfiguring the BBM global email services onto a another carrier by calling Blackberry and telling them or Verizon to release the carrier email ID. Once that is released (ONE carrrier AT A TIME!) another carrier can add it into their systems...
Basically it's possible if you have some computer/IT knowledge...
If I were you if it was cheap just to get a pay as you go phone...
BTW did you try putting the phone into GSM/WCDMA ONLY mode in the BB network technology settings first so it saves battery life + is faster when in a GSM only country!?

  • My folders missing in email app Droid Global

I can only see the stock folders for my verizon mail on my Droid Global. Why can't I see My Folders that I create?

    Hi TyB,
I know it's important to use your email while on the go. I would like to assist, but I do need some additional information. When you mention "Verizon mail," do you mean your verizon.net email? What type of email are you using? Are you using the Mail application on the device (from the Market), or are you accessing Mail from your browser?
When viewing your email on your PC, you do get the option to create your own folders. On your device, only a certain amount of folders are supported, so this may be the reason that the ones you created do not appear. Below is a link for setting up email and all the details for the Droid 2 Global device.
I hope this information is helpful for you, and for other Droid 2 Global users.
