Droid headset jack

I plugged in my Bose headset into the jack on my phone and I cannot get any sound.  The phone's music is working as I can hear it coming from the phone speaker.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks.  Rich

I had the same issue and cleaning out the phones headphone jack solved the issue.
Lots of people appear to be having this issue, I've seen several posts on other message boards.
Motorola has a posting on it as well

  • No audio from headset jack

I am wondering if there is an app or other process that would possibly turn off audio to the headset jack. The headset that I have used in the past is functioning, but when attached to my Droid Razor Maxx no longer plays audio. When plugged into my Razor, I no longer receive audio through the ear pieces, but the audio still plays through the phone's speaker. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You can try restore in iTunes also
If that does not work yeah call 1-800-MYIPHONE or make an appointment at an Apple store with a genius

    Hi bunjamin,
just go to BlackBerry World, and update all your apps including BBM.

yes, BlackBerry has acknowledged this bug in this article from the public knowledge base:

  • IPad 3 Headset (Jack?) issues

Figured I would see what anyone else thinks.  I consider myself to be pretty darned knowledgeable about iDevices.  I have been inside iPhones, iPod touch, iPads. I can normally fix things easily. This one has me a bit worried
I bought an iPad 3 when they were released.  I bought it at Walmart for some odd reason (never again).  So when I checked out, the woman asked if I wanted to buy the protection plan.  I said no, because I always get applecare+.  She replied that it was the same as applecare, and I told her that I doubted it.  I said that if I have an issue with my ipad through applecare, I just get a new one.  She said you get the same thing here, but instead of driving 2 hours or shipping it off, you can come in here and get one. I decided to try it, and needless to say, it was not anything close.
The headphone jack on the iPad started doing something where when a set of headphones are plugged in, it would freeze up and then reboot, and get stuck on the Apple logo.  Then it started ruining headphones within 2 weeks.  No matter how many we bought, it would short them out or something.
So, I tried to take it back to WM, and they said they were not responsible, and that I needed to contact an outside source.  I did, and they had me ship it off to be repaired.  It came back, and you could tell that someone just like me had repaired. As a matter of fact, I could have done a better job
Never the less, it came back and the headset jack seemed to work.  However, it is already starting to do the same thing.  Assuming that they actually replaced it like they were supposed to, then I assume that it has to be something else.  Since it worked at first, I guess they did replace it.  I can replace the jack again, and just see, but I feel there might be another problem elsewhere.
Moral of the story, is DO NOT BUY WALMART extended service plan.  I think that the lady was not lying to me, but ended up selling me the wrong plan. After some research, it is apparent that Walmart has 2 levels.  First level is the service plan ($79), and then a replacement plan ($99 I think).
I will be fixing it this time

  • Is the 3.5 headset jack for handsfree & headphones

Samsung Galaxy Note II - Sorry, but here is a really clueless question.  Is the 3.5 headset jack used for both hands-free connections and earphones for MP3?
    Thanks,
    Ed

I asked because I don't know for sure.  I'll contact Samsung Monday.

  • IPhone 3G headset jack not working

    HI,
The headset jack of iPhone 3G suddenly started playing up. I can listen to music without any hiccup, can hear the other person loud and clear but people complain of a lot of static noise at times and at other times they cant hear me at all. I have personally tested this scenario.
Now to troubleshoot I plugged in my Bose headset which works fine. Hence I asked for a replacement of the headset which came with the phone. Inspite of the replacement the problem remained.
Then I checked out the new headset with other phones having 3.5mm jack and it worked fine.
This confirms that the jack is the problem. I tried to clean it with a clip but no dirt came out at all.
I tried blowing some compressed air into it but to no avail.
Now in India the only support available for the iPhone is through the cellular service provider (Airtel in my case). But those guys understand nothing about technology and have not been able to help me out with cleaning the port.
The only option left for me now is to send it to the Apple support center through Airtel which leaves me without my phone for at least 7 days. The rest of the phone works just fine.
Is there any other solution to this problem other than sending it to Apple for either a repair or a replacement?
    Thank You,
P.S: I know that this topic has been discussed but not the exact problem. Appreciate any answer.

Thanks mate. Just found out another weird issue! There are headphone jacks which have 2 rings around the jack and others which have 3. My iphone works well with the ones with 2 rings (infact the new in-ear headphones are the ones with two rings around the jack) but not with the ones with 3. This is true for other 3.5mm jacks. Checked that out as well. Do you think it could be an issue with the 2.2.1 firmware?
    Thanks

  • How do I open the headset jack cover ?

    Hi Koko,
welcome to the Sony Xperia Support forum..
If look at the headphone cover you should see a small gap using your finger nail you should be able to flip the cover out..
See image below, although not the headphone port, it should give you an idea of what the small gap should look like..
Edit: seems I was to slow in typing my reply..

  • Yoga 13 - Headset jack with splitter adapter doesn't recognize microphone

    Hi,
I'm trying to use my LifeChat LX 2000 headset with the Yoga 13's combi jack. The LX2000 has separate plugs for mic and headphone. I bought a standard adapter to convert this into the required combi jack, but only the headphones work. The mic is not recognized. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the conexant driver and replaced the adapter with a new one. No change.
The headset works on other computers with split jacks.
    Any thoughts?
I know that there is the option of USB headsets, but since I already own the LX2000 and would prefer to not block another precious USB slot, I'd prefer using the available combi jack - as that's what the jack should be there for...
    Thanks,
    Jan

Thanks, XMB. This is very helpful information. Can't believe that even such a little item as a headset jack with three contacts has an universal industry standard...
I'll see if I can find an adapter that's wired for Apple standards, although it surprises me that Lenovo would choose the Apple method if most other PC's use another standard.
So can you confirm that the wiring diagram in below link is correct for the Apple vs Nokia wiring?
    http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/showthread.php/5393-S2-stock-headset-in-iphone-standard
Is there any documentation in the Yoga technical specs that allows to identify which wiring is used in the machine? I know you mentioned it uses the Apple standard, but it would be nice to know that this is mentioned in some documentation officially.
    Thanks

  • IPhone 3GS headset jack out of spec?

I have been experiencing problems (similar to some of the other posts) when I try to use Apple's standard headset and three other third party headsets with my 3GS.
When I plug the headset in, people can hear me, but I can only hear them faintly. If I pull slightly up on the jack, I become garbled to other people, but I can hear them clearly.
The same headsets that I have tested work on 3G iPhones.
It's my belief that the headset jack in the 3GS is out of spec.
I have gone in to the Apple Store and have received two replacement 3GS phones to verify that it was not something unique to my first phone. I am now convinced that there is a definite hardware issue that needs to be addressed.
Any help that anyone could provide would be appreciated.

Thanks for your suggestion. It's definitely not a volume issue.
I've been using the original iPhone exclusively with wired headsets since the very first phone was released. I finally upgraded to the 3GS when it was announced, skipping the 3G rev. As such, I'm super familiar with the functions of the phone.
It seems to definitely be an issue with the jack itself, as I have now tested it independently on 3 phones, with 3 Apple headsets (the one that shipped originally with my phone and the new Apple/Bose headset, and with a headset that shipped with a 3G phone). As well, I've tested with two third party headsets - one made for the 3G and 3GS and one that works on my old iPhone via a TTY adapter.
I'm really hoping that I can get some feedback from Apple directly as I don't know of any simple resolves for a hardware issue that has shown up on 3 phones and repeated on two unique trips to the Genius Bar.
Btw, while I was in the Apple store recently at the Genius Bar, the person behind me showed up with the same problem.

  • HP Envy Headset jack compatibility with stereo headphones equipped with 3 ring plug

    Hello.
As you know, new HP Envy laptops are equipped with just single audio jack (TRRS type). In "Maintenance and Service Guide" this one is mentioned as "Audio-in (mono microphone)/audio out (stereo headphone) combo jack".
So if I connect my stereo headphones that are equipped with 3-pin plug (TRS type) directly to this Combo Headset jack will these get recognized by system as stereo headphones (not as headset)? Can stereo headphones with 3-pin plug cause any damage to laptop hardware if connected?
What is confusing me is that in User Guide one can read following Note:
"Be sure that the device cable has a 4-conductor connector that supports both audio-out (headphone) and audio-in (microphone)".

    Hi Misuser8,
The manual does support a 4-conductor connector. After some research I have read that the 3 will work with no complications.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • 845gl-p headset jack hum/buzz

Purchased a Hermes 845gl-p about a month ago. After buying a P4 2.4 400HZ, Samsung combo drive, WD 120GB 8MB buffer special edition, and 2 512MB sticks of Crucial memory, I have a sound problem.  The front headset jack has a loud hum/buzz when the system boots, mouse moves, hard drive access, or DVD plays. Tried disabling the sound card in the BIOS, NO change. Removed the hard drive and used a WD setup floppy, NO change. Removed the CDRW-DVD, NO change. Grounded the hard drive holder to the power supply, NO change.  MSI USA recommended isolating the MB on cardboard, but that leaves no way to anchor the CPU fan.  It this a bad board? Did I miss something in SETUP? Should I wake up from this bad dream? Any thoughts? ?(

Try toggeling the "spread spectrum" option in the bios.

  • Does the headset jack must be closed for being able to be used underwater?

For what I know, for Xperia Z3 could be used while underwater, all the ports must be closed firmly. Is it include the headset jack? Because I didn't have the closure cap during purchasing it.Or I have to buy the closure cap separately?

    As Phy said.
Z1 , Z Ultra, Z2, Z3, Z1/Z3 Compact. All phones have exposed headset jack that is waterproof without any need for cover.
However it would be good move to let the jack dry completely before using headphones.

  • HT4241 The headset jack does not function at all.

I have a MBP 13" running os x lion 10.7.4. The headset jack does not function at all. I can hear crackling in the headphones but not acual sound. I have attempted the the PRAM reset but I guess my timing is off because I keep running into the boot menu. I have a pair of Dre. Pro's that I am using and work fine on everything else I own. Thanks for the help

    Hi y,
There is a switch inside the audio jack that may be stuck. Try gently inserting an audio plug, gently wiggling it, and then removing the audio plug.

  • Is my headset jack faulty

i cannot secure any male earbud piece with the headset jack.  is this common?  any suggestions?

Every 3.5mm minijack from even a 1980 walkman should work if they dont it phone is likely the cause

  • Using the headset jack with my accessory jack in car.

I have a question about using the headset jack in my car. When the iphone is plugged into my radio, how are phone calls received. Does the audio come through the car speakers or do you use the phone like you would with out it hooked up to the car.
    Thanks in advance.

The audio does not come out through the headphone jack to your car speakers. Phone call audio uses the built-in speaker and microphone, or a Bluetooth headset if one is paired. I have noticed that if I connect the aux patch cable +while a call is in progress+, audio is sent out to the car stereo.
