Droid Incredible is the best phone!!!!!!!!!!

The Droid Incredible is good phone, fast video and Internet, one problem the battery is bad!!!!!!!!!!!!

it doesn't make the phone useless at all. i actually don't use wifi as i find it plenty fast on 3g. however, if i do want to use it, it takes about 5 seconds to turn it on. there's just no point in having it on wifi 24-7. when you want to browse then turn it on. also, i have the screen set at about 30% bright and find that it's actually better this way when i'm out in the sun and inside it still looks amazing. i leave gps on though. it's just like any electronic device. if you leave all the bells and whistles running, even when you're not using them, it'll drain the battery faster.

  • The best expense app for the best phone?

    Hi guys,
I still haven't gotten an iPhone because I use Palm and I can't be without PocketQuicken (Not a palm app, rather a 3rd. party app) it takes care of all of my expenses on the road and then syncs them with Quicken on my Mac, I get to know in real time anywhere how much money I have or how much credit I still have on a credit card, it can also keep my monthly budget. It's ideal for traveling business men or for people who like to know where there money is or has gone to.
Please Apple, invite the people at http://www.landware.com/pocketquicken/ to make an internal app for the iPhone, so that the best phone would have the best expense program out there. Thus giving something very useful to the iphone users. It's the only thing stopping me from getting an iPhone. I have many, believe me! many 3rd. party apps in my Treo, but the only one that I can't live without is this one. Please consider it. Thanks!

Something that I left out is that it can also be a standalone app no need to have quicken in the Mac, it can fully do the expenses and much more on it's own. And the best part is that it wouldn't interfere with any of the phone's features, like WiFi or anything like that so no harm would come from making it an internal app.

  • THe BEST phone I ever had....Nokia 1100 - Nokia, p...

I have just had to pay SILLY money for a Nokia 1100 - the BEST phone I ever had.  PLEASE, Nokia, re-release this excellent phone....for me, what's done is done, but, please make this phone available for others...I cannot reccomend the Nokia 1100 HIGHLY ENOUGH.  The fact that people are now sheling out £££ speaks vulumes....
Here is my Amazon review for this EXCELLENT phone....
"I am someone who likes things exactly so. For a lot of things, basic doesn't do it for me.
For example, I won't use anything but the highly customisable Firefox (with Adblock Plus, Noscript, Stylish and Social Fixer add-ons), to get the web just the way I want.
You know what? As far as mobiles go, this IS just the way I want already.
    Here are the reasons...
    * Simple and easy to use
    * Old style monochrome viewer, with a backlight, which means that, unlike basically every other phone on the market, whatever the time of day...indoors, outdoors, day, night, the display is always - ALWAYS easy to read.
    * It has a 'Loud' profile. As someone who is slightly hard of hearing, this means that I absolutely always hear when someone rings me or texts me.
    * Unlike a lot of other phones, the alarm clock is loud enough to actualy wake me up.
    * Rounded keys...meaning that I don't struggle to type someone's number.
    * Durable. I have had this model for over 5 years, in that time, it's been on the roof of a car that's driven off, falen on concrete from 10 foot, been with me when I've fallen over drunk countless times, and who knows what else...and it still works perfectly.
    * Long battery life. I only have to charge it once every 12-14 days.
    * It's basic, so won't get nicked. It's fallen out of my pocket in pubs, clubs and at a party, and I've always had it back.
Three times, I have 'upgraded' when I've been flush, and three times, I've come back to my trusty Nokia 1100.
I cannot rate this phone highly enough. Shame on Nokia for discontinuing it..."

As far as what people want from phones nowadays is concerned...I accept that, but, there are plenty f us out there who want a phone to be - A PHONE - it's not rocket science. I spand ages online - but, through my PC - where I can see hings properly, and with Firefox add-ons, Adblock Plus and Noscript, I'm safer than safe, and don't get to see any capitalist rubbish. Also, the fact that prices for the Nokia 1100 are rising, and rising rapidly...that, to me, suggests something...myself, I've bought a second one just as a backup...my first one lasted me well over a decade before I lost it...so, I reckon these wil last me well into my life...

  • Droid Incredible and the new 2150maH battery

I've been waiting and waiting and they finally got them so I ordered one as soon as I found out. I received it yesterday and went ahead and turned off my phone for a few hours to charge it all the way up. I then finished out my day and put it on the charger overnight while I slept as usual.
Today I have to say, I'm impressed. I'm finally fully happy with my Incredible. I ordered my phone the first day it was available, switching from a Moto Droid and I received it on the 29th or whatever the release date was so I've had it about as long as anyone has. (although some lucky dogs on this forum got theirs a couple days early ) Since then, I've always liked the phone but I've been very, very disappointed with the battery life. It's just atrocious and altogether underpowered for this phone. The included battery is nothing more than a fundamental design flaw. It is obvious to me that they shipped with the stock battery to promote form over function. That's great for those worried about pretty, slim, shiny phones; but for those folks who actually want to use their phones to the fullest extent, it's ridiculous. I am simply not a casual user in any sense of the word. My phone is what keeps my life on track, as sad as that may sound. Everything I do and all of the info I need is synced in one way or another on my phone, and I felt crippled because if I used it for any amount of time do anything that I needed to do, the battery literally wouldn't last the day. How very frustrating.
But that's the end of my rant about the stock battery in the Incredible.
I can now say that I believe that my phone can live up to it's name. I've spent all day using my phone the way I WANT TO! Not in some cut-back fashion that allowed the battery to last until I get home so I can charge it. I can actually leave the wifi on. I can actually allow my GPS to become active when my applications need it. Tasks killers?? Nope. It doesn't matter. It's 4:30 here and I can say with certainty that my battery will last throughout at least the rest of today, and I have abused it as far as usage goes. I know about casual vs. power usage and I'm definitely a power user of my phone.
Sure, it's a little thicker, but again, I'm definitely not a form over function kind of person. I'll take the trade-off. My phone is not a centerpiece for others to gawk at, it's a tool for me to use to do the things I need and want to do. I wish I didn't have to spend extra money for my phone to function the way it should have out of the box, but I was willing to do whatever to get it to perform to my standards.
Possibly the best money I've spent with Verizon so far.

Wow they finally came out with it huh.... geez that looks about the same size.. You should just go order the factory one from VZW, and pay far less, and have it in two days, and the battery life will work just fine for you.
Don't get me wrong, I'd take it.... But you could survive on the 2150 if you wanted..
Any word on extended cases yet?

  • I dunno about you guys... but this is the best phone I've ever had.

Yeah, 4G isnt always there. But, this phone is BLAZING fast. I've had maybe 5 stutters of lag in the last week or so that i've had it. Coming from a Droid Incredible, this is a godsend.
I had to set Force GPU Rendering and Window and Transition Animation Scale to 0.5x, and thats all this phone needed.
Honestly, here are the improvements I'd ask for, but these ARE NOT complaints; these are things that I'm happy without and even happier with:
    1. Camera: same as Nexus, but make it 8MP as well as a bit higher quality
    2. Give us the option for a fixed menu button (like the on screen home button -- just leave a menu button right there in the bottom right corner).
    3. Give us the ability to create shortcuts to any setting and application (IE, i want to be able to jump directly to Developer Options, or I want to have a shortcut for Voice Search on the bottom of my screen.)
    and LASTLY
    4. MAKE A 3D phone LIKE THE EVO 3D!!
But, HONESTLY verizon, you did a good job in my book on this one. And the customer service was phenomenal, rep named Steven helped me. I couldn't be happier right now with this phone. Keep trying to do things with the customer in mind
    Sincerely,
    Mr. Happy Customer for once.

for me, 5mp is good enough. If I want to take a picture for a portrait, I will get my DSLR out
    2. Give us the option for a fixed menu button (like the on screen home button -- just leave a menu button right there in the bottom right corner).
This is an app issue. Apps that have not been compiled with ICS API installed (Most of the apps), the menu button will jump around, but for Google apps that are preinstalled, the menu is in its proper place. There are a couple of exceptions, where the Google app has a menu in a different spot that the other apps. At times it can be frustrating since you do not have it in the sameplace for everything, but I am starting to like the 'no hardware button' concept with ICS.
    3. Give us the ability to create shortcuts to any setting and application (IE, i want to be able to jump directly to Developer Options, or I want to have a shortcut for Voice Search on the bottom of my screen.)
There is a shortcut to settings in the notification bar. Press on the settings icon looking thing, and it will bring you to the settings menu. Not as nice as a shortcut to the specific setting, but this allows you not to take up home screen real estate with a shortcut to settings.
    and LASTLY
    4. MAKE A 3D phone LIKE THE EVO 3D!!
Not a feature that I would want personally, but that is nice about Android..... different strokes for different folks, unlike Apple where everyone has to have the same hardware.

You are right.... this is a good phone. I came from the Droid X world, and having a phone without blur is simply great. Apps run much better, less problems with apps and it works good for me. One thing I noticed, I have an app I use when driving, which gives me my speed, direction, and the temp of where I am currently located. On the X, sometimes it took up to three minutes for the GPS to start working. With the Nexus, the GPS is working with 20-30 seconds.

  • What's the best phone app to use on iPad for uk users to make calls with

I know there's a few apps out there to use and make phone calls with, but which is the best one for uk users/callers.
I would prefer not to use Skype but if that's the best on the market, that's what I will use.
As you can probably guess I'm new to the iPad, so all the help I get is appreciated loads.

Cheers for that, looks like I will have to use Skype then. Unless someone else comes up with an answer.

  • Can not power down my HTC Droid Incredible as the phone options menu will not display.

Press down power switch at top of device for up to a minute and nothing happens. Options menu no longer appears. Had trouble with the device about  2 weeks ago where nothing would work and I was getting force close messages. Found a solution on this forum to fix the force close issue but then I could no longer power down the device.

I just resolved my orriginal issue with the power down by calling Verizon support (866) 406-5154. It was very simple while the phone was on just remove the back case and take out the battery. Then with putting the battery back in turn on the phone and when fully booted just try to power off and it worked.
There are many articles written about battery life in this community and in the documentation.

  • Kudos to the best phone company in America

I had Verizon for 9 years and have recently moved to an area without Verizon. I don't feel the need to disparage other companies but the area service providers are terrible. For those of you complaining about Verizon, you should try anything else. I am not a plant, I run a home business. I have been without phone for 3 weeks trying to get set up with internet and phone. It is a travesty. Verizon was always reachable and their workers are much better trained that what i have encountered recently. Thank you for 9 great years of service.

Thank you for your kind words! I'm sorry we don't have service in your new location, but if you ever move back to an area where we serve we'll welcome you back with open arms! Best of luck to you!

  • Why cant apple remove their java and adobe restictions if they did that it would be the best phone on the market!!!!!

why cant they make every site viewable.. if they would just get over themselves restricting the phones from certain sites.

Apple earns the overwhelming majority of their profit - far and away from the sale of their hardware - computers, iPods, iPads, and iPhones. Not from the sale of software and certainly not from iTunes store sales. The iTunes store is set up as a break even for Apple with this included with their financial reporting.
You are right about Apple not wanting to depend on a 3rd party for playing video via the internet, and anyone with a clue wouldn't want that either.
    http://daringfireball.net/2010/01/apple_adobe_flash
"To my knowledge, Apple controls the entire source code to the iPhone OS. That’s not to say they wrote the whole thing from scratch. Many low-level OS components are open source. But they have the source. If there’s a bug, they can fix it. If something is slow, they can optimize or re-write it. That is not true for Mac OS X, and Flash is a prime example. The single leading source of application crashes on Mac OS X is a component that Apple can’t fix."
    That would be Flash.
"This is why Apple wants to control the source code to the entire OS. If they want to go 64-bit with iPhone OS, it’s entirely in Apple’s own control to do so. And what happens if Apple goes to a new CPU architecture? For the components Apple controls the source code to, they can recompile for the new architecture. If the entire system doesn’t recompile cleanly for the new architecture, they can work on it until it does. For a component like Flash, where Adobe controls the source code, Apple instead has to wait."
"Which situation do you think Apple is happier with? Mac OS X, where they had to create a new web content plugin architecture because Flash crashes frequently and isn’t 64-bit? Or iPhone OS, where they control the source code to every single component, and can do whatever they want, when they want?"
"Apple isn’t trying to replace Flash with its own proprietary thing. They’re replacing it with H.264 and HTML5. This is good for everyone but Adobe."
"And yes, I know Flash does much more than just play video. But that’s the main thing everyone is talking about when they talk about Flash not working on the iPhone — video. And when you talk about other uses for Flash, you’re talking about serving as a software runtime, and whether you like it or not, Apple has a clearly stated opposition to third-party software runtimes for iPhone OS, and that policy seems to be working out pretty well for them."

  • No doubt the best phone ever made!!!!

    Hi,
I cannot yet buy an iPhone as i live in the UK but i have no doubts in my mind that when it comes out i will be stading in line.
Was at work today and i noticed one in a customers hand (from San Francisco), just from the size of the screen i knew what it was.
It was like having one of Apples videos demonstarting the phone infront of me, saw the golden gate bridge on google maps, watched a video through the iPod function and even located his grandma's house via her contact dress in google maps.
Those of you that have one don't know how lucky you are.

Oh, I do know how lucky I am. I'm still geeking out over the fact the phone can sense when I move it up to my ear to instantly turn off the screen and turn it back on when I move it away.
Sure there are a few kinks but this really is what a mobile phone should be. Easy for us to take things like this for granted but wow. Really is a great product and it's really nice to see such quick support in the form of applications and sites optimized for the iPhone.
I certainly look forward to software updates by Apple and everything else that will enhance this device.

    Suggestions appreciated :]

She is using the message free app and I was just using the regular texting option on my phone. I set up an account on text plus free cuz I thought that might help but she still can't receive them. I can send messages to other people with ipod touches just fine. I consider a 4" screen the max for something you still want to call a phone, it is light yet sturdy, well shaped and designed. The company that makes it, I consider worthless in the customer support area, so you need to learn to help yourself.
That is my opinion without letting my personal disappointments cloud my judgement.
Pretty much the way I feel too. This phone is much more "finished" than my last phone (Samsung Omnia) so the need for TLC from Samsung is considerably less, thank goodness.
I did find a rather decent work-around for the lack of an LED notification. Try the NoLED app. I actually prefer it to a simple LED because it is customizeable for differnt types of notifications (SMS, missed call, etc...)
