Droid Pro- how to delete apps and google maps question

is there anyway I can delete verizon apps off my droid pro?? I mean for example there is the google maps that came on it, a navigation, and VZW navigator that came it. I only use the google maps, and I want the other 2 off and I can't figure it out.
Also,  my google maps updated today, and the new feature on it is 3d maps. How the heck do I find the 3d maps?

Carrier-loaded apps are part of the phones everywhere; Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc.  I've had them on even the feature phones--Backup Assistant, Get It Now, etc.  They can not be deleted on any phone on any carrier without [Edited to comply with Terms of Service] which is another topic.  You can set up your home screens to your satisfaction by deleting any unwanted icons--press and hold the icon, then drag it to launcher tab which should be highlighted red--it serves as the trash can.  This is how it worked on my Droid 1.

New to Ellipsis7.  My Google Map app has destinations in it that I'd like to delete as they were only one time usage.  Can't find instructions on how to delete.  Help!

        Hi sunshineOH!
I hope you're enjoying your tablet! Here's how to delete your history:
      • Open the  Google Maps app and sign in.
      • Touch the side menu  > Settings > Maps history.
      • Touch the X next to the entry you want to delete, and then touch Delete.

  • I keep deleting apps and other items on my iPhone to clear up space but it just seems to be taking up more space. The used free space is actually getting smaller. How can I fix this?

I apologize if this has already been asked and answered but I couldn't find anything.
I've been deleting stuff to clear up space, and it's not clearing anything up. I went from 3.0 gigs to 2.3 just from deleting apps and photos and music. How can I fix that?

Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

Our daughter figured out on her own how to delete songs and apps from her IPAD2. Drives us crazy since we continually have to reload these files. Her parents would like to know
    1. how she did it (delete files) and
    2. how to prevent her from deleting files in the future.

Can you pinpoint what 'diagnostic and usage data' you are referring to?  More details would be helpful including the model MBP you are using and the OSX.

    HELP
how do i import and sync my icloud / iphone contacts into address book on my macbook pro, how do i import and sync my icloud / iphone contacts into address book on my macbook pro
Runnig 10.6.8 on a MacBook PRO.....

The easiest fix if you're running Snow Leopard is to export all your contacts, then import them into something like google (I already had a gmail account), and then just use google to sync your contacts instead of icloud (via the sync with Google button in the address book settings).
Its a bit sluggish to update, but it works well.  You can then point your iphone, and other iOS devices to use google for contacts too.
If Apple don't want to look after their customers, other companies will gladly do so....

  • How do I delete the old Google Maps applicaiton

I think I have a problem that many wish they had prior to google releasing an updated Maps application.  I updated to iOS6 and got the new Apple Maps app, but still retained the Google Maps app as well.  This is one of the kind of apps that can't be deleted, like SMS, Phone, etc.
I can move it around, and generally used to just stuff it away on the last page, but now I want to make an effort to remove it.
Looking at the file system, at the .ipa files, the built in .ipa's are not included.  Anyone know where those are stored, so perhaps I could remove that, to see if it would remove it from my phone on next sync?
I did a backup and restore the other day, still no change.  I did a backup, completely erased my phone to factory, then did a restore, which also didn't work.  And finally, though I really didn't want to, I went ahead and erased my phone with the intention of rebuilding it from scratch, though the darn Maps app was still there, so  just backed up a step and did a restore to my last backup point to save the hassle of setting up my phone from ground zero.
I have added two screen shots, one wiht my mouse selecting a normal app so you can see I get the "X" to delete icon on the app, and the other with the maps application selected so that you can see I DO NOT get the "X".
I filtered the left list to just the google ones, but have tried various other combinations such as "maps" to locate it, it is not in the list, just as "phone", "sms", and "mail" are not in the list.
    Any help would be appreciated

Older versions of the SMS app I don't even believe we're called "SMS" but "Messages" though I could be wrong on that. There were differences in the SMS app regarding FaceTime. The current app has a button at the top that allows you to jump that conversation into FacrTime. Older versions didn't have that button as FaceTime was not released yet.
Yes, I can delete the new Google Maps App, it is an app I downloaded from the App Store. What I can't delete is the icon labeled Maps, which is also a google app, not a bookmark.
For the large majority of users of iPhones of compatable hardware, when they upgraded to iOS6 the Google maps application that was part of a default iPhone installation was deleted. In it's place was installed Apples debatably botched Maps application.
In my case, that didn't happen. I was left with both applications still intact. At first I didn't even understand why everyone was so upset with Apples Maps implementation. From my perspective, if they didn't like it they could simply use the Google Maps application they had been using all along. Then I started to see people asking where they could download the old Google Maps App and it started to make sense. Their system no longer had the app. They only had one choice, Apple 's Mapping app, while I still maintained both choices.
I'm looking for others who have experienced this and solved it. I've seen similar cases where different apps hang around longer than they should, but never found a solution. I assume over time enough users will report this to Apple and a software update will correct it. I however, would like to correct it now.

  • How to delete documents and data off of iphone 4s

Im trying to free up some room on my phone. I got rid of some apps and movies and did what i can but when i plug my phone in there is more Documents & data then i have as apps and music. i just want to get ride of some documents that are saved in my phone but  dont now hot to delete them.

Document & Data on iPhone is junks files including browser history, cookies, logs, caches of photos and videos, database files stored by your apps. You’ll notice that some apps while being very small themselves have accumulated a lot of data. An example of this is shown in the image below, you see that the Facebook app is 109 MB whereas the Documents & Data stored is 1.2 GB. This 1.2 GB is what goes into your “Other” data.
These apps on iPhone don’t provide a way to delete Documents and Data, uninstalling and reinstalling the app is not the best option here. With the help of CleanMyPhone or PhoneClean you can delete the documents and data on iPhone without deleting the app itself.

  • HT5429 How Can we reverse to google maps. Apple and Tom Tom maps are awful with plenty of mistakes and less details

How can we get back google maps as the default maps application.
Apple maps are just 5 years behind. Really awful and disappointing.

For now, it's easiest just to go to maps.google.com in Safari.  It will automatically load the mobil version of thei site.  Not the same as the old app, but at least you have access to the basic features.
You can even create an icon to add to your home screen.
I think Apple knows they've got a lot of work to do with Maps!

    You can't.
You can hide the purchases, but you have to do that on your computer using iTunes. You cannot do it directly on the iPad.

  • TS4009 I received an email from apple stating my icloud storage was almost full. I deleted apps and photos and the storage has not changed, so what am I supposed to do?

I received an email from apple stating my icloud storage was almost full. I deleted apps and photos and the storage has not changed, so what am I supposed to do?

...  I clicked on it (I know I am not supposed to do this - I won't ever do it again) and no window opened up.
You're right - it is never a good idea to click on links sent in an email unless you are absolutely certain they are legitimate, and that is only becoming more difficult as spammers and phishing attempts are getting better every day. Having no association with Verizon is all the more reason to simply delete the thing.
Next, by supplying your email address all you did was confirm to whatever site was sending you this spam that your email address was legitimate. Again, when in doubt just delete the email and forget you ever saw it.
...  How can I check to see if my computer has been hacked and how can I protect it further.
The good news is that is highly unlikely. The bad news is that your email address might be used as the "from" address for spam sent to others, and that you are only more likely to get more spam from the phony Verizon site as well as every other potentially malicious operators.
The best advice would be to simply abandon that email address, but if you can live with the previous potential concerns it would be overkill. I would recommend changing your passwords for financial institutions (banks, credit cards and so forth) as well as your email account or accounts. That is simply good practice whether or not you did what you did.
As far as any malware is concerned, again that is unlikely, but make sure you run Software Update to get all Apple's latest updates.

how to delete app from iPad mini

Press and hold any of the apps on your iPad's homescreen and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
